Since a lot of contests & events ask for worldbuilding poems, stories, songs, and other media, I thought it'd be nice to have a thread where we can store what we've written!

So if you have any of the above, or even just the title of a work / an author that you've used in conversation in RP, please post about it here, so the rest of us can make use of it in our own plots! XD

A Whisper Through the Woods
A traditional solstice song.

A whisper through the woods, totems sway on their trees;
and ghost footsteps leave tracks on the new fallen snow.
In the winter's pale light the world sits ill at ease,
ancient memories awaken a strong sense of woe.

The wolves are gone,
the deer wait on,
for a night that will come 'neath the moon's golden glow.

Long it has been since their names were well known,
since the time when they stood up and fought for our lands.
Hoof and horn they fought, chill winds cut to the bone,
and they laid down their lives in the defense of man.

The wolves are gone,
the deer wait on,
for a day that will come joining their hooves to hands.

Their strength started to wane as the battle fought on,
the wolves turning the tides, full of bile and bite.
Each one Chose him a man that he could call upon,
adding their hands and hearts to help finish the fight.

The wolves are gone,
the deer wait on,
for a night that will come touched with that ancient blight.

A whisper through the woods, totems sway on their trees,
this sense of melancholy is a last gift to mankind.
So wish not for a Guardian to drive off your ill ease,
For when they return, wolves can't be too far behind...

The wolves are gone,
the deer wait on,
for a day that will come when man's heart calls to hind.

Although various versions of the song are passed on, there is one prevailing version that seems to appear most often.

A copy of the sheet music corresponding to the melody of this version can be viewed here.

On the Spirits of the Wood by James Bartleby - A treatise on spirits, written in the 1500s (link)

The Fair Summer by ??? - More or less the Wardwood equivalent of Fanny Hill, although written earlier, also in the 1500s; features a sordid romance between a spirit and a human
