L'ki
 Character Name: L'ki (formerly Laranki)

Location: Fort Weyr
Personality: L'ki is a winner, but he is a winner who wins through cleverness rather than strength of arms. He is not normally malicious, but he is a trickster at heart, and bitter, always planning tricks that he never follows through on. At least, not now that he's weyrleader. Before Horvath flew the senior queen, L'ki played tricks on his wingmates all the time, but that sort of thing is no longer appropriate so he just imagines pulling pranks off without doing them, and smirks at inappropriate times. Unfortunately, this tends to make him seem creepy rather than friendly, even though he likes to make people laugh (preferably not at him). This is due in part to a deeply-ingrained belief that he will never be good enough to be lovable. He is very sensitive to being laughed at, obviously, and holds grudges against those who make him the butt of their derision. Mostly he does not act on those grudges, but he wants to. Also he's kind of weird about being touched.
History: L'ki does not talk about his past before being Searched, but he was the unwanted son of a prostitute given to (or perhaps stolen by) his father and brought up as a punching bag for his father and his legitimately born brothers. His father's wife and daughters also sharpened their tongues on him, and were just beginning to see if they, too, could get away with violence when he was Searched at fifteen. At the time he was so small and slight for his age that the Searchrider thought he was twelve and lying when he claimed to be fifteen until another boy Searched at the same time confirmed his story. It was the last good deed that boy did, since he devoted his time at the Weyr during their candidacy to making himself popular by making L'ki into the goat. Fortunately, L'ki Impressed almost at once and as a weyrling was superior in rank to the candidates, so he did his best to ignore them and turn into a more admirable person than he had been, though until that time he got in (and lost) a lot of fights. After he Impressed Horvath, no one seemed inclined to mess with him. Perhaps because Horvath made it privately known that he would be avenging any wrong done his rider.
Appearance: Tall and lean with pale skin that refuses to do more than burn and turn back to white and dark hair that always looks waxy and greasy no matter what he does, L'ki is not really favored with good looks even though he is a scrupulously clean young man who hates to be sweaty or dirty for longer than necessary, though he certainly does exercise daily. No matter how much time he spends exercising, he always looks kind of skinny and malnourished. He has a tendency to smirk at inappropriate times when he chooses to keep his amusement at a situation to himself, and this smirk does not make him look trustworthy at all, given he smiles without showing his teeth, which are not so great, and he is self-conscious about them. He is self-conscious about his appearance in general.

Personality: Enormous and warlike, Horvath is a fighting dragon who can't wait for Thread to start falling again so that he can burn it to a crisp. He is hot-headed and ferocious, which combines with his large size to make him sort of intimidating to those who don't know him and aren't used to the fact that he vocalizes all the time in variations of ROAR! He doesn't mean to intimidate people, but he doesn't see any harm in it. It is only sensible for small, squishable things to be careful around large, dangerous creatures like himself. Not that he would ever hurt a person on purpose, but accidents happen. He has a wide competitive streak and tends to win a lot, but when he doesn't win he doesn't hold grudges. He is a dragon who makes friends easily, even though he is loud and sort of blustery and not nearly as clever as his rider.
