Up in one of the main spires lies a very peculiar room. Formerly the home of many other Espada and even the temporary home of Gin Ichimaru, this large open spaced throne is the home of the Quinto Espada. Unlike many other rooms this enclosed area is much larger than it looks on the outside. Using the same sky replicating technology as the dome around Las Noches, every wall of the throne room looks much like the sky encompassing the V-shaped platform that holds Vivian's throne. The room stretches down about half the spire, giving an airborne feeling to anyone that stands on the suspended platform. In the arc of the platform sits the actual throne, adorned a midnight green with a large silver backing that stretched up high behind the arms of the chair. behind the chair is the only two things that are present in the room beside the V-shaped platform. Two equally sized spires trail up from the floor of the room, with water spouting out of the angled tops and trailing down the face of the spires and then falling down their lengths back to the unseen floor below. The floor itself is submerged in a pool of water that is about 30 feet deep, cycling the water back up the two spires in the back to repeat the process.

High on the top of the room Vivian sat cross on her throne as she usually did with most chairs. She looked across the way of her windowless cage to the scenery that played out on the wall in front of her. Soft fluffy clouds danced across the wall, mimicking the natural sky of the human world. A rushing sound of water played in the distant background from the spires behind her throne with cascaded water down their bodies onto the dark pit below. With a soft sigh she closed her eyes and let the droning sound was over her senses.

It had been awhile sense the meeting of the Esapda. Vivian had kindly excused herself from the table at the request of Clark and left with the others. However he had asked that the Cuatro Espada stay behind to talk with him. Vivian could only guess what they talked about in the sanctity of the meeting hall as the rest of them went off to their own desires. Vivian had heeded Clark's request and stayed inside the protection of Hueco Mundo, sitting idly by in her personal quarters until such time that Locura would request her assistance. Clark had ordered both Locura and herself to work on the Reishi signatures that she had collected on her field mission and bring forth whatever evidence they could find within the mysterious energy sources.

However patience was not something Vivian liked to observe. If at all possible she loved to be on the prowl and active, so having to sit and wait was something she dreaded looking forward to. Vivian lifted her hand, setting it palm up in front of her. Green energy sparked to life in her palm and immediately irrupted into the familiar guise similar to one of the signatures she had collected. She looked the flame over before pushing it out from her hand to hover out a few meters in front of her. With a wave of her hand it grew larger expanding out until it was the size of a large fireball. Coaxing the flame with her own power she melded it as close as possible into a replica of the captured reishi and then like a birthday candle the flame blew out in a flash of light. With a yawn she tilted her head back and closed her eyes, setting her head against the large intricate slab that was the back of her chair.

Hmm, I wonder what I should do while I wait? Vivian thought to herself as she drifted off...

Locura Oculta
Cuatro Espada

Science has made us gods.

Step by step, Locura walked through the hall of the Quinta Espada. The bridge upon which he walked, structurally inaccurate but capable of its purpose, spanned out across apparent nothingness. With a click, Locura began investigating the reiatsu levels in the room, noting the atmospheric replicators that made it seem like they were in the clouds when they were, in fact, inside a rather large room. With a thought, he realized they must be the same as those inside Las Noches. The scientist wondered how she managed to acquire them. She certainly didn't go to him. Strange. The thought was compressed and then filed away in the back of his mind. With another click, he observed the water flowing down the pillars. Pipes inside, moving the water down to up. Consider the size of the pillars and the volume of water spilling out, the reservoir below must be sizeable indeed. If it was to be supposed that the water was on the bottom of the Palace, and filled the bottom entirely, he would suppose it would take...about a depth of thirty feet in order to maintain a proper psi rating and not run dry. Hmm. Interesting indeed.

All this within a span of footsteps along the bridge, not even halfway across. He switched back to the normal spectrum, and saw Viviena sprawled across her chair as if she was the mistress to the throne. The posture was very telling of her psyche. He could spend a day listing the things he could learn from that posture alone. But that was not what he was here for, so he filed that away as well. Climbing up the steps, he came to a stop at the landing, letting the artificial atmosphere gently billow the coat around him. He stood there, rather dominating in stature, and let his hands dive deep into his pockets. He blinked, once, showing his mild interest in the subject currently mulling about in his brain, and after a short silence he spoke.

"What do you have?" He spoke softly, and gently. There was no force to his words, no coercion to his voice. It was simple, and painfully direct. It meant everything at once and yet narrowed down so that Vivian would know exactly what he was talking about. Locura was a surgeon, and he minced not only body parts but words. The less waste of energy the better. And the less that Locura had to say, the better off everyone else was. He could potentially cause a riot with the amount of information he had compiled and stored in his brain, not to mention the ideas he had formed to take care of that information. No, the less that Locura spoke, the better. For everyone's sake.

A familiar reiatsu filled Vivian's senses as Locura entered her domain. In the midst of her of mind she could see the luminescent flame of his spiritual presence grow larger as he walked closer. Vivian opened her eyes lazily to set them upon the figure that made soft taps upon her suspended terrace. Locura had finally arrived after hanging back to talk with Clark. He stopped, a distance away from her but still set upon the upraised landing that held her throne. With one brief sentence he expressed his intent though it was already clear to Vivian why he was here.

"Hmm, so demanding," Vivian said coyly, obviously toying with the scientist. His expression and mannerisms were always so stark and bland and at times much to calculated to seem like a living beings. She guessed that's what it meant to be a man of science, so dedicated to his cause that he truly was a man of science. Vivian turned her body to sit in an ordinary position, crossing one leg over the other under her tattered haori. She lifted her hand much as she did moments before Locura arrived and repeated the steps she did in the throne room, recreating the reishi signatures she had been working so hard to preserve. "As Clark already explained, these three signatures I have obtained contain traces of different races scattered in between them. One of them are Quincy, while the other one shares the same reiatsu as the fragment Clark gave you to analyze. It seems like there is an rebel group between not just our faction, but the shinigami and Quincy ones as well." Vivian stated. She leaned forward and blew on the flame sending the ember floating off her fingertip and towards Locura.

"However there is a common trait that two of the reishi signatures share that I wasn't able to isolate until recently." Vivian said in a more solemn tone than she started with. As she finished speaking the colorful ember of flame floating towards Locura shifted and began to burn with a new intensity that was by all means of a different caliber than either of them had seen before. The flame burned white hot but was ethereal in form, translucent like water and burned the air like it defied creation. Vivian tilted her head in ponder, wondering if her cohort could crack the riddle of the mystery flame. It astonished her seeing this thing burn from her own power. It worked in reverse of her own being, seeming to burn life into what would ordinarily not be, rather then decompose and consume. "What do you think?" she asked Locura in an inquisitive tone, shifting her gaze to him.

Locura Oculta
Cuatro Espada

Science has made us gods.

Silently Locura allowed Vivian to muse at him, not even batting an eye at the retort. He was used to such things. After all, he had to deal with Sabrosa, Carmellia, and the ilk. Jokes at his expense were all too common, as dry and baseless as they may be, so to be toyed with was nothing new. He supposed he could always respond. Return a quip, play their game, bat their average. But such pursuits would take time and effort away from the pursuits of knowledge and discovery that actually mattered. Wit did not matter. Not by a long shot. So he let it go. He wasn't here to parse words with his fellow Espada. He was here for results. His mind briefly wandered to the thought of whether she was playing coy because it was her nature, or if she had another thought in mind. Scans of reiatsu displacement and body temperature revealed nothing out of the ordinary. Certainly her body chemistry wasn't eluding to such thoughts. Perhaps he was comforted by that fact as she continued talking, taking his mind from that strange tangent back towards the business at hand.

He focused immediately on the reiatsu signature, switching back to the reishi spectrum to take in the strange sight before him. What she said was immediately evident in the bright particle. There was the consistent base reishi that Quincy possessed. In the spectrum it was red, and magnetized other ambient reishi in the air towards it. He had studied Quincy relentlessly in order to understand the phenomenon, but alas there were not enough to fully document and repeat the effects in laboratory studies. And on this thought, his sight picked up on the subtle shadow of the secondary energy. It resisted the pull of the Quincy energy, and shone through clearly. It had no color in the spectrum, belying it as pure energy; something that existed only in discharge, not in natural state.

His body tensed a little. He leaned forward slightly, narrowed his eye, and took a step forward. His sense of decorum dissolved as he became buried in the data before him. He approached it silently, swiftly, and with impressive interest. The interest only piqued when it shifted to a pure form, blasting his goggle with bright light. He looked away, then, and allowed himself time to adjust. Locura looked up briefly at Vivian, studying her with a quick gaze. "To think I now have a reishi alembic..." He trailed off, and then focused his attention directly back at the particle as it hung in the air. He could feel its energy on his skin, even from this distance. It was strange. Alien. It defied immediate explanation and, because of that very nature, begged the scientist to understand it. He stepped up until he was directly in front of it, and placed his hands around it as if he was planning to snatch it up quickly. But he just let his hands hover. Questioning. Pondering.

"Pure energy." He muttered under his breath, nodding his head slightly to the side as if he were an inquisitive mutt. "Impossible." He licked his lips briefly, and began flipping from spectrum to spectrum. Infrared. X-ray. Chromatic. Reishi. All of them yielded the same result at first glance. Speculation and inconclusive data. He let his hands slowly fall back to his sides, and then he sighed. "Not enough. I need a higher quantity to test." He thought about that for a second, and then looked once more at the spark. "However." Locura mused, almost silently, and reached up a hand to the light. His right index finger brushed against the burning nexus, and a harsh sizzling noise was heard. He removed his finger just as slowly as he had put it in, and he admired the sudden appearance of exposed wires and crawling metal beneath.

"Interesting." He breathed, holding his right hand with his left as if it was a foreign entity. A whir and a click echoed in the Palace as he adjusted his sight, and admired his finger. "Infiltration, unification, isolation, and then thermodynamic retreat." Flesh slowly crawled back onto his finger, returning even his fingernail to perfect form as if nothing had happened. "Adverse effects minimal." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small metallic device in the shape of a pen, and pressed a button upon it. "New energy source seems to revert hollow reishi to base form. Additional testing absolutely necessary. Prefer live subject. Hollow fragment will suffice until target parameters satisfied." He clicked the button again, and stuffed the device once more into his pocket.

He looked up at Vivian, and as if remembering protocol stood straight, and crossed his arms behind his back. "I am...intrigued."

Vivian watched in amusement as Locura probed the newly formed energy that floated between them. He even went so far as to touch the burning flame to test its destructive potential. He seemed deep in question about the origin of this energy, muttering to himself about the visible effects that he could test on the spot. It was interesting to watch this man work on the spot, talking to what looked like a pen about testing the hollow fragment he acquired from Clark. She leaned a little further, as he said something about gathering a live subject, setting her arms on her crossed legs and propping her chin on the tops of her upright hands.

"Good," Vivian said in response to Locura's last statement. With a smile she pushed herself up from her throne to stand straight. In a few steps she crossed the gap between her and Locura, standing just behind the ethereal flame as to not be burned by it. "However, this is not a perfect specimen, as I could only amplify the underlying reishi as far as my own powers would let me." Vivian waved her hand in front of the flame, letting the flame flicker and burn out until there was nothing but space between her and Locura. "I could only imagine that the hollow fragment you carry with you will yield a more pure result than I can muster at this time," Vivian continued, setting her left hand on her hip. "I'd love to see your findings on the foreign energy once your tests are complete," she finished, obviously curious as well about the origins and abilities this new source contained.

Locura Oculta
Cuatro Espada

Science has made us gods.

A blink was drawn from Locura's stony visage, and he nodded. "I will." Behind his back, his fingers explored his index finger, rubbing against it curiously to detect any sign of malignance or change. There was none. The pale man watched her for a second more, and then sighed. She could prove to be incredibly useful. If she was capable of isolating rogue fragments of spiritual energy, she could become a necessary tool in his laboratory. Her skill alone could amplify the effectiveness and the speed of his research by a severe magnitude. Perhaps he might dedicate some time to plumbing the depths of her unique ability in order to add a new tool to his personal scientific arsenal. When all of this was over, perhaps. Just perhaps.

He smirked at that thought, and no doubt it looked like he was smirking at her. "Tests will continue on schedule. Thank you." He spun on his heel, bringing his coat around him with a whirling flourish. As it settled, he began down the steps to leave Viviena's Palace. He stopped, suddenly, and turned his head so his eye was turned to look at his fellow Espada. "Anything else?"

From what Vivian could see it seemed that Locura was pleased with the information that she provided him. It even surprised her when the usually cold tempered Espada smiled at her. She was about to comment on it but before she could muster the sly remark Locura turned on his heels, walking away. It wasn't a surprise that he had more things to attend to, after all he was a busy scientist. Before he left however he looked back to her, asking her if there was anything else she needed. Vivian pondered a moment, bringing her hand up to tap her lips gently with her index finger. "No, I believe that's all I have for you at the moment," Vivian said to the Cuatro Espada, letting him take his leave.

After Locura had left Vivian looked around her abode for a few moments. The soft talking earlier had seemed to drown out the rushing water falls in the back, but now that it was only her it seemed to roar back to life. Vivian would go crazy if she had to wander Las Noches forever, so maybe she would go find Clark and bribe him to let her go out with him on a mission. Vivian smirked to herself at the idea as she walked down the few steps that led to the exit. She opened the double doors and in a soft boom she had sonido'd away to find her leader.

Vivian surveyed the repairs on her castle as the many lowly menos class arrancar worked tirelessly moving large quantities of white marble and piping around the interior of the large pillar. Guided by Vivian's detailed instructions the menos set block after block in place, reconstructing the home of the Quinta to its former glory. After the large scale battle with Reiki, Vivian had the laborious task of rebuilding her personal sanctum, no thanks to High Clark. However he was thoughtful enough to send her plenty of help to rebuild her section of the castle, probably more for his own personal agenda of rebuilding his precious castle. Vivian walked along the precarious platform that was suspended high above the rest of the spire. Though most of her tower as destroyed she was able to salvage her throne and the majority of the platform that it was made of.

"No you bumbling idiot, put that over there next to the water spires," Vivian said to one of the large menos working with the piping inside the two large steeples that were set behind the throne. The menos, clearly unable to comprehend what she was saying, set the large steel tubing next to the her throne. He looked at her with large red eyes, wondering if what he did was the right thing. However what he was met with was a large bala to the face, sending the menos reeling back and falling off the platform. Roaring in pain the hollow fell to the water below, away from Vivian's view. "Ugh, do I have to do everything myself," Vivian said in frustration. Turning to one of the other many hollows in the building they all stood still, looking upon Vivian and the incident that had just occurred. "You there," Vivian said pointing to one of the other many hollows in the area. "Pick this damned pipe up and put it in its proper place," Vivian said as the newly selected hollow slowly approached her and retrieved the pipe, heading off towards the water spire behind her. Good help is always hard to find these days....
