A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

PostPosted: Wed Dec 26, 2012 1:21 pm

It had certainly been too long since they had time sorely to the two of them - ever since the children had been born, in fact. They had their time apart, as they always did, but they had little time alone together.

Which he was missing sorely, he had come to realize.

Finding someone to take care of the three little hellions would be easy - Echo had seemed more than happy to get them for a night. He wondered if Music would still be happy about it once they turned her quarters upside down, but for now the Spirit Guide would take what he could get.

A night with Cosine of doing absolutely nothing of importance was the plan. He simply needed to wait for her to come home and see what he had been up to.

He did not have to wait too long. Cosine was heading home after a long day at the temple. Construction was coming along nicely, recruiting was not quite so easy, gaining people's trust and support. Still she was getting through to people, slowly.

The goddess stretched her wings as she walked down the hallway. She really could not wait to get home and relax ... well, after she'd got the godlets to bed.

Cosine pushed the door with her design on it open and wandered into the apartment.
"I'm home." She called out.

Oh, he heard her voice, and smiled to himself. But he said nothing at first. The silence would likely be surprising. Not even the aoidei were here now - he had sent them all to one errand or another. There was certainly no shortage of things to be done.

The seconds ticked by, one by one, until he finally spoke. "Good evening." He was hiding in plain sight, so to speak - but she would need to find him first.

Yep silence was certainly unusual.
Cosine frowned at first, it was worrying, usually she came home to a whirlwind of chaos and was tackled by children. However, there was nothing, not even a whisper until a familiar voice came from nowhere.

A smirk twitched on her lips. A partner that could become invisible was certaily a novelty.
"Good evening Ankou." She replied, standing still and allowing her eyes to travel around the room. Maybe there would be a sign, a disturbance in the force as such.

Ankou would not be seen unless he wished to be - thankfully for Cosine, he certainly intended to be - though it did not mean he would not be up to some mischief first.

A familiar blue flash would be spotted trailing toward the back, leading her toward the bedroom. There, a kettle of tea was waiting, as well as books she might enjoy. Some fruits, even - anything that had actually occurred to him.

Because, well the plan was that once they were settled, neither would move for a good long while. If he had his way, that is.

"You are such a show off, I do hope you know that." She could only hope her son would not inherit this skill, he was hard enough to keep up with as it was without adding intangibility to the mix.

Of course she followed the blue flash through to the bedroom where the tea and other goodies were set out. Cosine smirked a little and picked up a book.
"You plan on being such good company I will need other entertainment?"

He did not answer the first statement, though she would not see him grin. Well, he had it, right ? She would understand, eventually.

"Is it so wrong for me to assure your comfort ?" He solidified right beside her, with mock-affront tinting his voice. "I figured this was long overdue. The little terrors are most likely turning their aunt's quarters into a warzone. We might as well enjoy this - who knows if Echo will dare accept again after this ?"

Oh, she probably would. But it was still amusing to think about.

Cosine placed the book back and glanced up at him with a smirk as he materialised.
"I certainly hope not, I'll give them something to complain about if they've been anything less than polite to her." She shook her head. "She has children of her own, I'm sure she knows from Soto ... wear them out and tuck them in and they're fine. This is greatly appreciated though, I feel as though I haven't seen you in an age."

"Children will be children." Ankou let out a small chuckle. Sometimes it was really hard not to be openly amused by the mayhem the three caused - less his amusement actually encouraged their behavior.

"It does feel like it has been." In between her temple, his going back and forth, and the children... But yet, he was unable to regret the loss of what little intimity they had before. In a few days he would leave again, to carry souls to Rebirth, but for now he planned to make the best of it.

"I figured a nest might be best." He sat on the bed, waiting for his beloved to join him.

Cosine watched him a moment and picked up a piece of fruit to pop in her mouth.
"A nest, sounds like a good plan to me." She clambered up onto the bed and crawled over to him. It was quite nice that they spent so much time apart. It meant they did not get fed up with each other. "How have things been?"

"As well as they can be, I figure." Things were complicated, with Nergal's absence. There were things that the older brother would have done that now fell upon him. There was no judgement, because it was not in the younger's nature to do so - had never been. Even if he tried, how could he pry the secrets from the dead's minds ? There was no way he could truly tell, with no doubt howsoever, if he was being lied to or not.

It had been so long, though. Perhaps it was time to... delegate. His two valkyries' training was moving along, and Hrist in particular would be the best aid to him. There were things only he could do, but there were things he could leave in the care of those he trusted. "The temple is pretty slow-going." Mostly because he was not here often to oversee it. And Ravenna had her own duties. "What about you ? Clearly that would be more interesting than whatever I am up to." He teased.

Cosine flopped down next to him and smirked a little, more interesting? Perhaps not.
"The temple is nearing completion, well, the construction of it. Things are slow going. I try hard to make sure I am back every evening to look after the children. They get restless far too easily." Not that that was any surprise considering their father. "Isidore wants to know why he can't go with you, Kyrie and Cae get up to all sorts of mischief. It's hard to keep up."

There was an amused smile on Ankou's features, one of the rare ones that went unhidden. Ah, yes. Much like their father, indeed. It was easy for Ankou to tire his brood out, but much less so for Cosine, perhaps. Still, if her temple was near completion, then she was already far ahead of him as far as this was concerned.

"Then perhaps I should, eventually. Caelia doesn't have too much of an interest in the inner workings, but if Isidore does..." Then he might as well sate his son's curiosity. Show him the processes, the inner workings. Later on his son would be a precious help, he knew it. Perhaps Isidore would handle the mortals' faiths and beliefs directly and he could simply worry about what the mortals could not see.

As for Caelia, then it was from their mother she would be able to gather the more knowledge. Kyrie was an influence of their own, but could learn from the both of them. How to care for life from her mother, and the folklore from him.

Only time would truly tell.

"I could take him to Avalon next time I go. Or elsewhere. If I take them one at a time, I should be able to keep track of them even as I work." He pondered out loud. "The Underworld is out of my direct control so that would be out of question for the moment." He had little power there beyond free movement, no way to stop the dead gathered here if there was a need for it. What little resemblance of order he could keep was simply thanks to his relations with the Lord, unseen as he was. "The World Tree... Should also wait, most likely."

"I think he would like that. To spend time with you, learning from you. It's important." She smiled a little and tilted her head back to look up at the ceiling.
"Oh dear, we've become boring parents. Nothing better to do than talk about the children."

"Was I not always boring ?" Again, he teased - but he took her hand and softly kissed the top of it.

"We could talk about how lovely you are. That is definitively a good subject." Something he could likely talk about for a long time. Her eyes, those little feathers, the shape of her lips, even the way she looked at him whenever he did something stupid.
