Silence, blissful silence. Something that was as precious as diamonds or gold. There was a time when Cosine would have retreated to her study to capture it, though now even that was not sacred. The children would find her and then the questions would come, so many of them.

Not that she minded in general. She liked them to be curious, to question the world around them. Though sometimes, silence was nice.

She had retreated to the library, to an alcove just off from the main part. Infinity perched on a shelf above looking over her shoulder at the book she was reading. Some piece of classic fiction from the human world. Cosine was sat with her back against the side wall, her feet up on the seat, enjoying the peace of the library and the story she was lost in.

Still, he had to leave that nest eventually. If only to tend to the library. There was still work to be done, with Silence busy as he was - or that was what he figured, given how long it had been since he had last seen the pale god. Or perhaps he and Enkepe had finally left to seek the goddess' artifact, while he was gone. That was also possible.

It was also something nice and mindless at this point. The same old motions. Something he understood. He would be more than happy to lose himself in that.

Unfortunately, it meant that Cosine's peace would not remain so for so much longer. It might have had a chance to remain had he not forgotten about the cuts on his bandaged hands as he reached for a particularly heavy book. Lament hissed in pain and the sensation made him drop the heavy book on the floor with a loud THUMP - sending pages flying out of the already-fragile tome.

This... really was not his day.

THUMP!

Cosine jumped at least an inch and Infinity cawed loudly.
What on earth was that?
The goddess stood, placing the book face down and open so as not to lose her place.
"Hello?" She called out, padding to the end of the shelved aisle and peering round the end. "Kios?" A smile formed on her lips. it had been a long time since she had seen her nephew. "You're back."

"Ah, hello. Sorry about that." Dropping and wrecking a book had certainly not been his attention, though now he was crouched and awkwardly trying to gather everything and not make even more of a mess.

At least he still had his fingers. Though the bandages did not help.

"I came back, uh." When ? He actually had no damn idea, to be honest. Keeping track of time was not something he was particularly skilled with. "A few days ago ? I think ?" It had been mostly spent with people fussing over him.

Then Asedri's dillemia. Then Taj kissing him. Then him hightailing it to Rio, which in retrospect had been more confusing than truly helpful.

No one could blame him for being frazzled, not really. Still, there was something different about him - in the way he carried himself, in the way his eyes looked. He did not look nearly an innocent and young as he used to.

Cosine stepped out from the shelves and watched him with a hint of concern, she recognised that loss within him. For those who had endured rebirth and gehenna it came with the territory. It was sad, though also a fact of life. They were gods, if they did not suffer how could they understand the suffering of others.

"Here, let me help you." She crouched to help him pick the books up. "I'm sure you should be resting." She gave him a slight smirk, knowing that, like many others, herself included that was not going to happen.

In a way, it could have been a lot worse than this - though he would be glad to keep that knowledge to himself.

Not all secrets were meant to be seen, after all. "Just a tad sensitive. I misjudged how heavy these were. And beside, I cannot really rest now that I have to put this back together."

Cosine was indeed right about one thing.

"It never is dear." She smiled and held the books to her chest. "At least let me help you out, you can tell me something of your adventures, if you wish to recall them, if not then I am sure I can bore you with updates on the children."

He would have to tell her what his cover had been, though. Surely she would get a kick out of it. "Thank you."

Cosine was not surprised by his silence. She knew as well as anyone these journeys did not run smooth. If he wished to tell her he would in his own time.
"Isidore has been asking after you, he found a baby Grim in the church yard and I think he is quite eager to show it off."

He lead Cosine toward his usual work area, and pulled a nearby chair toward his desk for his aunt to be able to sit beside him. "I have been gone longer than I told him I would be." Lament admitted. It was no wonder that the boy was getting restless. "I should drop by soon to see the little pup, hm ?" He would, as soon as the bandages were off.

Cosine placed the books down and took a seat in the chair he had pulled up for her.
"I think he would like that very much. I think you have a little fan there. He's curious about matters of the underworld and always asking after his father. His sisters are quite different."

"I can answer the best I can." The underworld he knew little of. And to be honest, that place held little interest to him now. It was the living that needed him, not the dead. Perhaps this was something Isidore would also understand in time. He had no want to see the underworld as he once held so badly as a kid. That place had become his father's cage, as far as he knew, and perhaps even the reason he and the rest of his family were seemingly forgotten. Whatever interest he had held in it had been extinguished a long time ago.

"I think Caelia thinks everything is boring once she has experienced it. I need to show her the way of her domain, just trying to catch her is the trick." The goddess rested her arm on the table and watched him, although she knew it was inevitable she still did not like the loss she saw within him, the bitterness that seemed to hide behind his expression.
"Isidore ... I worry he feels left out, he's drawn to the cemetary and death where the girls are drawn to living creatures and the gardens. I do not know much about such things in reality and Ankou is away so often."

"He might simply be drawn to what resonates to him." He had been drawn to libraries, books, and writing from a young age - and not especially because he felt left out.

"The cemeteries most likely ring familiar to him. He might feel at peace in there." He felt something similar. "I could take him... or even you can, just to visit." Not especially the cheeriest place to take a walk in, but...

He busied himself with getting the pages back in order as he spoke.

Cosine nodded, that made a lot of sense. She would have to make sure she took him there more. He needed to understand about his domain. She watched Kios put the pages in order.
"Can I help you?" She asked softly.
