Prompt A
Sometime soon, Aligned Maneki Neko will be able to start what we call Spirit Clans. These are basically like a pack, but these groups of Maneki Neko stick to one element for their magical abilities [This element depends on what their clan leader is aligned towards] whilst "worshiping" their element. Say your Maneki Neko is interested in starting a clan, how would he go about it? Where would this clan settle? How would he go about gaining members? What kind of leader would he be?

Prompt B
Alright, say your Maneki Neko isn't much interested in running a Spirit Clan. What would he do with himself? Be a lone spirit, act like a house pet? Maybe he'd join a different spirit clan [If so, what kind of clan? One aligned towards Darkness? Or even one aligned towards Death?] Write us a response about it.

((I am going to call him Yuki for this response since it means snow, and its fairly well known...))

Yuki was walking through the forest that bordered the south side of the town. He looked to the sky and noticed the stars. He loved to look up to them and watch them sitting there twinkling. Who knew what they were, but he always felt drawn to them and the coldness of winter. He preferred the cold and the wintery times to the warm times of summer. He loved to blend into the snow and pop out to surprise his friends.

As he watched the stars, he wondered about how nice it would be to have a clan who was devoted to the winter times that way he wouldn't feel so alone in his love of winter and the cold. He never knew if there were others out there that shared his feelings. What if he did start a clan? They could settle in the snowy mountains to the west of the town, they almost always had snow on them. It would be as though Winter never ended! He smiled to himself as he started walking back towards the town. He would need to think on this further.

When he approached the town one of his friends came up to him, with Yuki being lost in thought about the idea of starting a clan devoted to the Winter months, his friend had to pounce him. He left out a whoosh of air as his friend landed on his back and pinned him to the ground. he heard his friend ask what he was thinking about so intently that he failed to notice him till the last second. He smiled to himself as he looked at his friend. This was one of his friends who also liked the cold of the snow.

"I was thinking about starting a clan devoted to the winter months..."
He said simply as he watched the look on his friends face, his smile grew. "We could settle in the mountains to the west, where there is always snow around and it always seems like winter and have a place of our own." His eyes sparkled as he talked about it. "It wouldn't be to far from the town to come down to if we needed things... But it would still be nice to live in the mountains with others who shared our love of the winter times." He knew he must have sounded like a fool for wanting to do this, but the more he talked about it, the more he wanted to do it!

As he chatted with his friend for a short while longer, they were able to work out plans for the clan, how they would go about figuring out where in the mountains to set up, and the other practical details. It seemed his idea wasn't so out of reach as he had originally thought it was. His friend seemed to be on board with the idea and ready to leave and start the clan. It seemed he would be the leader of this clan, but he wasn't sure exactly how he felt about that. He would need to be strict with some things, but he didn't want to come across as being mean or harsh. He was a kind-hearted neko who wanted to have fun, and be with others who shared his love of winter and the things associated to winter. Snow, Ice, Cold, Christmas, All the things of winter time. He decided that he would be an honest kind leader who would be strict when he had to, but would still do it with an air of kindness to it. Yes, that was the kind of leader he wanted to be.

As he thought about the clan and the things he needed to do for it to become a reality, doubts started to crawl into his mind, 'What if no one comes to join the clan?' He thought to himself. He could go out and search for others who shared his interest, or he could ask the shop keeper at Maneki Neko to assist him in telling anyone who might be interested about them and letting them know where to find him, But what else could he do? He could build a snow sculpture with the clan's name on it in the Park. That would be sure to draw some attention to them, But would that be a bad way of going about it? He would just have to figure out if that one idea was a bad one or not later, he thought it was a good idea, for now anyways.

He started off towards the west side of town where the mountains were. He wanted to go up to the mountains and see if there was a place for them to settle down and be a real clan. His excitement was getting the better of him, and he couldn't wait to find the perfect place to settle down, it seemed as though everything was coming together nicely!

Neige stepped lightly as he walked over the freshly fallen snow, he loved the way the world looked when it was covered in a fresh coating of snow. It was perfect and he didn’t want to ruin it with his foot prints. He had heard that there had been quite a few aligned nekos showing up in this area and he was hoping some of them would share his alignment with winter time, it didn’t have to be winter specify any ice or snow based one would do. He just felt so alone some times, Aligned Nekos where rare and the chance of finding one who shared the same alignment was highly improbable. But he wanted to find people who enjoyed the snowy weather and didn’t find snow and ice a hazardous pain. People who see how beautiful snow makes the world. People who knew that the world wasn’t dead during the winter because most trees had shed their leaves and animal hibernated. He had been so lost in his thoughts that he had not noticed that he had come close to a small building; it appeared to be a temple. The way the sun hit the snow on the building made it sparkle and gleam he smiled as he looked at it for a bit before walking in.

His ice-core like eyes gazed around the small shrine from the looks of it; it seemed to be dedicated to Inari. His tufted ears twitched as they picked up a noise and he was surprised to see a multi tailed neko walking around. “Uh hello, is this place dedicated to Inari?” The younger neko turned around and smiled. “Yes it is, I’m checking up on the shrine but I can leave if you wish to pray privately” The snow spotted neko shook his head “No its fine, have you heard of any Aligned neko’s in the area? Or maybe a spot where they hang out?” The fox colored neko shook his head “I’m afraid not, I know there are a few in the area but I can’t name them nor do I know of any meeting places specifically for Aligneds. A lot of nekos hang out of Okugi Park though. I am sorry I cannot be of more help to you, do you mind if I ask why you are looking for the Aligneds?”

“It is fine, the park sounds like a good place to start and I’m looking for them because I am hoping to find someone who shares my alignment with winter.” He replied. “Ah, have you thought of creating a spirit clan then? If you are interested in making one perhaps you could make signs to post around town, or create symbols and messages in the snow to help others find you.” Zenko said as he sat down and wrapped his tails around himself. Neige stared at the other for a moment before his face lit up. “I never thought about that, it sounds like a wonderful idea. Thank you for your help!”

He waited for the other’s good by before he left ideas about the clan swirling in his head, he would make messages in the snow and some in the park that would invite others with winter or cold themed alignments to join him. He would need to find a spot to set up at first though, preferably a place where the snow wouldn’t melt. Ah! Maybe there was a suitable spot on one of the mountains, it would be cold enough to snow but not so cold as to freeze everyone, and easily assessable. He didn’t want to make it seem impossible to get to after all. He would be a leader, he had never lead before but he wasn’t about to back down. He liked the idea that a clan would be like a community, there would be someone in charge but the others would have a say in things and in general they could do their own thing so long as it didn’t bring harm.

The night was long and dark, and if one were to peer out at Okugi park, they would spot but a lone, winged maneki neko. The neko was Taiki, one aligned to the sky, and if such a fact weren't obvious by his appearance, then a simple conversation would clue you in; he was obsessed. Every thought, whether fleeting or one that lingered, was fixated on the wonders of what lie above. He most often wondered about what might be up there, waiting for him. Was there an ending, or did it continue endlessly, much like the deep seas seemed to? Did other humans and neko reside somewhere up there, as so many did on the ground? Numerous times, the neko had attempted to reach something, anything up there, and to answer these questions himself, but no matter how hard he flapped his wings, or how far he spread them, the sky remained untouched.

But he knew it was possible; he could feel it in his heart, a certainty that burned in the pit of his stomach. All the laughter and jeers of his friends could not deter him from his ultimate goal; he would find a way. Taiki smiled to himself, lifting his nose to the sky. He enjoyed nights like these; when the black canvas above was deep, the pinpoints of light stark against it, and the moon was swollen with dazzling wonder. It was on nights like this when the sky seemed so close....near enough to grasp, if he were just a little taller...Taiki sighed peacefully to himself, folding his large wings against his back and rested his head down on his front paws, but kept his light eyes fixated intently on the sky.

He began to wonder then...What would he do, should he ever reach what he sought? He would love to share his find with like minded others, individuals who shared similar desires and aspirations as he. Taiki had been traveling alone thus far, but he imagined, were he to find ones like himself, he would want to remain among them, and they with he. He was docile and just; with such qualities, he knew it would easy to gather at least a small group and retain their loyalty. Together, they could construct a magnificent castle in the sky, a place of peace and refuge, for those who sought it. Perhaps they could build it on the moon, or gather enough stars together to create a base for their new home. He imagined the sun was off limits, as it was difficult to even look at from the ground, but the clouds were an inviting prospect. They came in numerous shapes and sizes; surely they were a malleable substance, and fastening some together would be a simple task. He could only imagine what sleeping on one would be like!

Chuckling softly to himself Taiki allowed his heavy lids to droop, and then close, as his body slowly relaxed, succumbing to sleep's hypnotizing pull. His goal would have to wait a little longer, but he hoped at least his dreams would answer some of his nagging questions, and take him to that wonderful place in the sky.

And now for something completely different.

Winter’s chilling breeze swayed down the mountain and through a certain Maneki Neko’s thick, silvery coat. The cold didn’t faze him as he continued to meander through the deep snow left by a recent blizzard. His walking pace was slow so that he could continue to observe the scenery he enjoyed. Trees looked much more beautiful dressed in white than green. The ground glistened in the morning sun. He wished it could be this tranquil all year round. But in the springtime frost farther down the slope will be nothing more than a past memory.

Lost in “if only” thoughts, the male didn’t spot a strange mound until he was practically on top of it. His bushy ears suddenly picked up the faint murmur of a heart beat. It sounded unusually different from a hibernating animal’s. Curiously he dug into the pile and discovered a middle-aged human probably from the village to the south. He brushed away as much snow as possible to free the barely alive man. Unable to think of a different way, the feline decided warm the human up with his fur by lying down on his chest. After a little while the man stirred slightly and his eyes slowly opened. “…Thank you kind spirit,” he said to the neko weakly. “May I ask you your name?”

“I have none,” the cat coolly responded as he was about to move but decided against it. An unknown feeling told him not to.

“Then as thanks for staving off death for a moment longer I’ll name you … Shōsetsu. It means thawing snow.”

He absorbed the bittersweet name for a few moments before finally accepting it. The man smiled as best he could, but they both knew there wasn’t much time left.

“As my dying wish, I’d like you to help others like me who lost their way in the cold and met a terrible fate.”

Shōsetsu nodded his head.
“They will have my mercy.”

“Thank you… Friend.” The man closed his eyes again making it appear as though he was sleeping. He was able to pass on peacefully thanks to the cat's sympathetic gesture. While the Maneki Neko prayed for this human, it began to lightly snow. In a few hours the man would be covered back the way he was.

A difficult task lied before him; however, Shōsetsu suspected he couldn’t complete it alone. Helping one poor soul who just happened to be in his path was easy. Searching for people to help proved to be more of a challenge. Perhaps other nekos understood Winter’s compassionate nature or he could follow ones aligned with death in order to find frozen victims and show them comfort. Maybe just maybe.
