In front of a flower shop in the main town near the Academy a sleek black limo pulled up. The driver got out of the car and ran around to open the door and a young girl stepped out of the car. She was well dressed, wearing a designer green wool coat that matched the green part of her eyes and lined with fur over the red dress her nanny had picked out for her this morning. Stepping onto the sidewalk she settled her hands more firmly into the little white fur muff that her father had bought for her as an early Christmas present. After peering up at the sign Dierdre looked hesitant for just a moment. Then she turned to the driver and in her best impression of her mother tilted her head back, managing despite her height to look down her nose at the driver.
"Don't go too far Hector. I expect you to pick me up soon after I call." She tossed her hair a bit before walking closer to the door. That little burst of arrogant confidence quickly waned though as she got close enough to open the door. She turned around suddenly, about to ask Hector to park and go in with her for moral support. Her heart sank when she saw the limo pulling away. There were so few things she'd ever had to do on her own. Usually there was at least a servant there or her twin brother Hunter. But no her father said it was time for her to learn one of the duties she might have to do as a fine lady one day. Her Mother couldn't be bothered to teach her herself and both her parents were very fond of the sink or swim method when it came to their kids. Usually Deirdre used Hunter as a life raft, but picking out flowers was a WOMAN'S job and Hunter was not to do it.
After a moment more of deliberation Deirdre opened the door and entered the shop looking around for someone to help her.
"Hello?"

The little flower shop was an array of colors and fragrances, instantly assaulting Deirdre as she opened the door, a soft chime coming from the bell hanging overhead. It wasn't a noxious smell, nor was it overwhelming. There were a few refrigerators with flowers showing through the clear, frosty glass, and a large white dog laying in front of them. He raises his head as Deirdre enters the shop, barking weakly before laying his head down once more. A young woman walks into the main store area, pulling a wire out of the headsets that seemed to be permanently attached to her ears. She had her gray hair tied into a braid, with an apron that had the words Zazlow's Zinnias Simply printed across the front. She stares at Deirdre, deciding to bite her tongue about how posh the girl looked "Hello. How may I help you?"

The smell of the shop made Deirdre happy. It reminded her of the first time she'd been brought home and the mansion had been full of fresh flowers everywhere. The day had been so overwhelming it was hard for her to pick out many details about it, but that was one that stuck with her. The soft bark from the dog almost startled Deirdre, her grip tightening on the handle to the door, but she relaxed when she heard Fred speak.
Letting the door close softly behind her, Deirdre approached the girl working there. She was only a teen but to Deirdre's young eyes she looked like a woman, especially if she was working in a store. The teen's appearance seemed a bit strange to Deirdre but she was too worried about her task to focus on it too much. She cleared her throat a moment, reminding herself to speak clearly and precisely the little speech she had practiced in her head.
"Hello, I would like to order a funeral arrangement please. It is for my Great Uncle Philip Stanford Blackbourne the Third." She put emphasis on the third just like her father always did. Apparently it had something to do with him being the grandson of some important man that Deridre hadn't bothered to remember anything about. "The viewings start on Friday evening and then through the day on Saturday. The funeral will be the following morning, Sunday." She gave a little pause like she wasn't sure what to say next or had forgotten some bit of what she was saying. "If that is... possible to have it that quick?" She frowned slightly. That didn't sound like something her mother would say at all. Her mother was always sure that everything could be done in time for their convenience and never sounded doubtful at all.
