Altaria had been flying for quite some time now. She needed a break from the five azrein she constantly hung around. As much as she had come to enjoy their company, she needed the company of her own self from time to time. As her wings took her through the skies, she looked down in an attempt to land to rest for a while. She had been flying for a while anyway...
Once a suitable little cove was spotted, the mare dived down and with a grace known to her kind twirling a little as she felt the thrill of the air about her. She stopped flashing her wings open in just enough time to soften her landing. Much like a bird, her hind hooves hit the grasses first then her front as she flapped her wings a little before stretching and then finally settling them at her side. Altaria strode forward to the small stream she had noticed and leaned downward taking small controlled sips of water as she simply relaxed. Ahh...peace and quiet..

Hearing the flaps of a bird above him, Calicem perked his ears forth, and raised his head up to see the sight He flinched, seeing that this was in face, no bird, but was actually another azrein. How strange it was for him to find one so majestic soar in the clouds. Watching as it landed, he blinked, noticing its grace and beauty. Truly a sight to see, bred with fine lines.
It felt odd to him, watching another, it was like if he was well,... he couldn't think of the word, so he approached the stream, slowly, watching if the stranger would take a notice in him.If yellow hurts, then I shall switch to red!

The water definitely helped in cooling down her aching muscles. Most didn't think it too much to fly with Altaria making it look so easy, but each of her movements was purposeful and took a good amount of energy. Her wings flapped against her body in another attempt to cool her off before she finally settled her body down. As the mare lifted up her head, she looked over to see the yellow and red stallion heading on his way...toward her. Her tail slapped against her side a little as if warning him that she wasn't in the mood for anything funny. Atlaria grunted turning to face him, her gold eyes staring into his orange ones. "Hail, Stallion. How can I assist?" Though her greeting seemed nice enough, her tone was rough like gravel and her gaze even stonier still. The female held herself quite proud, her wings slightly open in case she had to make a dash for the skies.

Calicem approached, a bit closer. His orange eyes stared, aghast, at his reality check of the mare.He could not help but to see the fine details on her wings, including the item around her neck. Found from a human, perhaps? Never before had he met a mare that was so alert, ready to get into action, and... serious. All the ones he knew were those of the immature children of the humans that he had lived with - silly and always begging for more rides and apples. She did not at all, look like one of that type.
A guard of the kingdom, perhaps? It terrified him. Even the coldness that she gave him, but filled with dignity. "Please, if you would care to spare your time, excuse me. I could not have not taken notice of you in flight, in the air. Tell me, how must have that have felt?

Well this was...unexpected. The stranger had manners and even stranger was entranced by her flying. Now, Altaria didn't consider herself very vain, but she was prideful of her abilities in the air. Her golden eyes studied him as her pendant rested coolly against her chest as if a gentle reminder of who she was and why she was so good at what she did. The mare snorted and stretched her frame giving a bit of a surprised whicker at his request. "How it feels to fly...?" Her nostrils flared as her brows furrowed more out of thought than annoyance or anger toward the male. He definitely wasn't like Lankyeron, the a*****e. "I can already tell you describing the feeling of flying will be...difficult. It is something that just sends your blood racing and pumping and your mind and body on full alert. It's not like running where if you fall, you don't go very far. It's much more intense. One wrong move and you can plummet from forever to the unforgiving ground." Altaria's voice changed becoming fast and high pitched as she spoke about her love much like a filly about her first crush. Her wings seemed to expand to their full lengths as she spoke about the world that she knew, one that excited her more than any male's touch or her favorite food or her urge to be an aerial ace. Flying was just something she could never explain to someone who didn't have the wings or couldn't fathom to. "I know this answer probably does not slate your curiosity, but it will have to do. Now, riddle me this, Stallion, why would you care?" Altaria's voice became steely again as if guarded. She would have to be more careful around this male. This was only the second one she encountered within the area, and she could already tell he was different than the average one.

Calicem was awed by the image brought upon him when hearing the description. Nothing existed like flying indeed! To think that running and prancing were the two best feelings were now out of his list. Oh, how he longed for a flight now. Imagine the Isle of Azreth of he were to fly! Over the waters, the bushes, the trees, everything that he was able to run with, but also the skies, the clouds, and everything else that only wings were able to attain. It would just be splendid. Splendid indeed.
"Over the couple of days I have seen azrein in flight, and they have been such a sight. Today would have been the first that I seen one with such grace and beauty, and that seemed to make me want to feel its taste. He then added. "I have tried to ask some of the feeling of flying, but they were all too busy doing something above to take a notice of me."

She watched with slight interest at the reaction he was having. Did this male truly yearn to fly? Pity. She couldn't imagine a life without having her wings. Besides, why would she want to? Her mind came back from wandering when he answered her question. Direct and to the point. My he was an interesting stallion. "It could be possible they didn't mean to ignore you. Sometimes when one flies, it is difficult for him or her to do much else but concentrate on the surrounding skies. And sometimes we can be so far that...well..it's hard to hear." Altaria simply gave a shrug leaning down to drink her fill of water again before turning her attentions back to him. "...Tell me what is your name?" He definitely was a curiosity to her...she dared to want to know more.

He nodded, taking in what the mare was telling him. It did make sense that those in flight would be at a higher height to hear. Maybe it was also the change of altitude that affected the ears? "Oh! That's just like how it sometimes is for me while I am having a gallop or two. I see." Not really knowing the mare's reaction to his next move, Calicem waited for her to finish her drink before well, sniffing her wings. The scent was still strong. Of the clean air above, still containing some of the treetops' natural pine smell, and another... a herd?
Calicem had heard of some azrein walking the lands alone, or flying, and others living with others. Was this mare one of them? The scents were somewhat fresh, somewhat faded, but he did know that she lived in a herd, or was it called a flock for her kind? He stopped his thoughts when he realized that she had asked him a question. His name? "My.. my apologizes!" He felt embarrassed, approaching a stranger like that without having the slightest idea that what he done might have called him forth as a pervert. "I'm Calicem, and what might your name be?"

Altaria gave a hint of a smile seeing his understanding spark. "Exactly." The mare gave a quick nod and a grunt shifting her wings a little. When he came forward however, the mare immediately froze. She studied him with scrutinizing golden eyes attempting not to go postal on him. Altaria's mind try to make herself understand that he was like a chick wanting to study an adult's wings. He had no wings, however, and he was a very, very large stallion, not a chick. Her nostrils flared as she snorted giving him time before he backed off.
At least he apologized. She rolled his eyes and gave a grunt stretching her neck into a bit of a bow. "I am Altaria Redtail, also known as Altaria the Red. Call me whatever you wish. It is a pleasure to meet you, Calicem." Surprisingly her voice was gentle, like a mother being patient with a child. Her wings shuffled again before resting on her back. "So, are there others around that I should be mindful of. Calicem?" Her head tilted causing her bangs to fall over her face, her golden eyes still piercing, just a little less intimidating.

He took in the names given, and by the sounds of it, she probably was in fact welly bred. Or least that's what he'd thought of those with more than just a first and only name. Altaria Redtail, or Altaria the Red. He would most definitely remember that name for eternity. He was shocked at her reaction, but then again, why not snort to show an uncomfortable state? Avoiding her eyes, he stared at her wings for another quickmoment before realizing that she asked him a question. What was it? Oh, if there were others.
"Not that I know of, Altaria." he wanted to also say Redtail, but felt like it would have degraded himself, making him feel.. well, common?

The male seemed very careful around her..intimidated even. For as brash as his nature was, it seemed as though he understood that sometimes one could go too far in one's curiosities. Still she forgave him as there were those who were blessed with wings and those who were not. Calicem was simply a stallion with a falcon's heart in a chicken's body, to put it comically. She almost had to ask her question again as he was once again caught up in her wings. AT this point, she almost felt sorry for him. Almost. "Ahh. So you travel alone? Must get...well boring. Even I couldn't do that for very long. You're a brave one, Calicem." The mare offered him another gentle smile, but keeping her wits and guards about her. She still wasn't comfortable to let him in just yet.
