The green snake slithered happily through the scraggly grass alongside the river. Not that it was much of a river at this time of year, but when the snows in the mountains melted, it would be fatal to any serpent worth his scales to be caught in its fury.

But though he could stand (and even enjoy) the heat of the drier lands, Queror much preferred to stick near the river. There were a lot more tasty critters here to be eaten. And, just as importantly, his coloration blended in far better amongst the greenery than against the desert sands.

The river, even small, was a welcome sight to Jua. The desert was behind her, abandoned for good this time. She had no real desire to go back, after her foray into the greener lands. That Mwezi place had been pretty fascinating... But her visions told her to not go that way again. There were lions who would be VERY unhappy to hear about her encounter...

With her heavy limp, the dark lioness picked her way carefully, wary of where she stepped as any wrong move could bring her down, possibly breaking a bone. The water was shallower here, and there were thankfully no crocodiles. A miracle from Finar-si, for certain, as well as the lack of hippos. She paused as she sank a paw into the water, finding herself... Smiling. It felt wonderful, really, something one didn't often encounter or even do in the desert. As she slowly walked out into the water, she noticed movement, soon moving toward it. Was that a snake? Hopefully it wasn't venomous...

Queror was slithering along happily, hissing to himself when a strange shadow warned him that he was no longer alone near the river. The green snake raised his head to look around and found his attention riveted to a four-foot. A very big, fierce looking black lioness.

The snake looked up at her and debated whether or not he should flee. Sometimes lions liked to eat snakes. Or at least torment them with the idea of being a meal.

But then he saw something else about her. Something that wasn't visible and yet he saw it.

"Sssssseer?" the snake hissed his question up at the lioness.

Jua's eyebrows went up. Well... This was curious... The snake new she was a seer? Which could only mean one thing... She bent down a bit closer, even knowing the move was dangerous. "Yes... Yes I am... And so are you..." How else would it know she was a seer? Snakes were curious creatures, after all, but none would be able to pick up on her being a seer unless it was one itself. It wasn't often that she ran into other serious, either, be they lion or other animal. Her son was a seer.. Her oldest son. And he was back in the desert, far and away from this place, doing his own thing. Now and then she got visions of a new litter, but they were always so fuzzy that she couldn't tell how many were boys and how many girls, and which ones were even just Kosuke's children, and which belonged to one of her two daughters. All little fuzzy blobs in reds and blacks, with the odd gold or.. Pink... That was a weird one... Pink... How did pink get in there?

"Yesssssssss," Queror confirmed, hissing happily up at the lioness. Well, she certainly seemed uninterested in his nutritional content! The snake couldn't be happier about that. And being a Seer, and realizing that he must be as well obviously made her rather interesting. He hadn't met too many other Seers in his time, aside from his own father. So it was quite fun to find them in the wild.

Hmm...she was thinking of something that was not here and now. Memories? Visions? He looked at her more closely, with all his senses.

"Eggsssssssssss?" he asked, curious about what he saw.

Her mind had wandered and she hadn't really realized it. "Hm? Oh..." She couldn't help but smile a little. "Yes... Two of my own children have some of their own..." And possibly some of HIS kids had kids. She was feeling rather old thinking about that. Taking a seat in the water and not minding it, she tilted her head at the snake. "And what about you? Any... Eggs...?" She couldn't really say CUBS... Snakes didn't have cubs. Though what would that look like, lions crossed with snakes...? She mentally shuddered at the thought. That was too creepy to think about.

Queror watched the lioness. Two of her eggs had eggs? Then she was fortunate. With luck, most of them would survive to adulthood. That was, after all, why one was so intent on having as many eggs as possible.

Unless if that one was Queror who hadn't taken the time for eggs yet because it wasn't the right time. The snake was confident he would know when that time was.

"No sssssssnake eggssssss," he informed the black lioness. But she hadn't answered the question he'd asked. So he'd try again.

"Your eggsssssssss?" Really, how much clearer could he get?

She looked at the snake in mild confusion. "My eggs...? Technically eight... Two litters.. One is back in the desert, the other is Finar-si knows where.. I didn't feel able to raise them myself..." She let out a sigh, looking off into the distance at the border between the desert and the grasslands. Her first litter were adults now... Her second... How had they all done? Four boys... Four strong boys... One had come out so... GOLD. He looked so unlike his brothers... How was that one doing?

She looked back to the snake. "Or were you asking about something else to do with them?"

The snake hissed a sigh and shook his head. Aparently he wasn't going to get an answer to his question. For a Seer, she obviously couldn't see his meaning. Oh well. So he'd have to focus on what she'd said. The four-foot had already had two litters, eight eggs in all, and all were elsewhere.

"Eggssssss hatch. Grow. Go," he replied at last. "Ssssssssnake no make eggsssssss yet." But he would help, eventually. One day. He hadn't seen it yet though, so it hadn't happened yet.

Jua chuckled, amused that the snake hadn't had children YET. Then again, just how old was he? How long did snakes LIVE? How big did some of them get...? Her mind was going so many places, filled with so many questions, they soon came back to the snake's question to her about eggs. Eggs hatch... Grow... She blinked, before her pupils dilated for a moment. As her jaw slacked, from the outside she appeared to be going somewhere else entirely. Finally, she returned to the present, shaking her head and squeezing her eyes shut as she tried to clear her head. Oh. EGGS... "Well, now I think I know what you were asking about eggs for..." She rubbed a temple for a moment. Male lions... Oy...

Queror supposed that the four foot wasn't a very good Seer. That was a shame, but he supposed there had to be some detriment to size and fierceness and whatever else four-foots had over snakes. However, he wasn't going to mention that to the lioness. That was probably asking for trouble, and the green snake didn't want any.

"Ssssssseer," he agreed at last. "Sssssssssnake go," the reptile continued, turning around to go. He didn't see anything else interesting or productive happening if they continued to talk, so he might as well go and leave her be.

The black lioness let out a hm, watching the snake go. After a moment, she looked around at the water she was in, before laying down and rolling in it. It felt good to take a moment to wash her worries away, leaving her feeling clean and fresh. Rising from the water, she stretched out, a smile on her face that she couldn't resist having. Ah, it felt so good... Even with her limp, she began to travel along the water way and the further remains of it, off to a new horizon.
