 RP done Via Drop box. I will be posting one post from Cedar and Lea Per post. It had been about a week since the kidnapping. Cedar’s soul had been place back into her body after a lot of trouble. While Luciel was carrying her soul back to Makai from Peona Privus her body was brought to Eir by Lea and Uaithne. While her body was with Eir something disturbed her from the magical trance and she awoken. She had screamed so much from the pain that she still had a raspy voice 2 days later after her body and soul were reunited. Cedar’s magic worked in a strange way. Her soul leaves her body so that she can control physical elements of nature. When her body is moved she can’t reconnect with her body. She’s able to search for it, but if it’s taken far enough away she’s stranded. That is exactly what happened and she was only lucky enough that Luciel happen to sense her. It was a really tough time for Cedar. But now she was awake, the gashes from the creature had finally stopped bleeding and were beginning to heal. The new wounds that were created from the tear of her body and soul would take much longer. She was still at Eir’s home where her good friend was trying to help treat her and speed up the healing the best she could. Her back rested against the pillow as she looked out the window. The cottage her friend lived in was almost picturesque. From the window she was able to see Eir’s herb garden and the flower garden… Her friend had a lot of gardens now that she thought about it. Potted plants all over the place and over the log type fence, the forest. Leaning forward she looked out wondering if Emrys had heard about what happened and would come to see her. But she doubted it, her olive eyes looked back to room and wondered when Lea would come by. ~~~~ Lea had been worried sick ever since the events at Peona Privus, having been separated from Cedar during the chaos and then finding her trapped in a magical trance when he eventually located her. This was all his fault. She was stuck in that state because he had failed her. He couldn’t stop thinking about that or her screams when she awoke at Eir’s place subsequently. So much pain she had to be in when Eir finally managed to link her soul together with her body again. If he had been there to actually keep his promise in keeping her safe. If there was some way that he could alleviate her suffering. He knew that he shouldn’t be avoiding her. Not at this point in time when the both of them now needed each other much more than before. He knew that deep down but he couldn’t help his contradicting actions that were stemmed from a deep sense of guilt over her current condition as he claimed that he was busy with his studies in addition to minding the shop for his absence whenever he got questioned by their mutual friends. He couldn’t really run forever however so here he was today, with a basket of fruits in hand as he tentatively made his way to the room which she was resting in, a small apologetic smile in place before he pushed open the door with a greeting. “I heard from Eir that you’ve been making good progress with your recovery. How’re you feeling today?”

Cedar’s head turned quickly as the door creaked open and her eyes lit up seeing Lea’s face. “Lea~” She Cooed at him with her raspy voice and smiled. It was so nice to see another face outside of Eirs. Not that she wasn’t applicative of the witches help. Cedar shifted to make room on the edge of the bed for Lea so he could sit with her. “I feel much better seeing you.”
Cedar wasn’t positive but she sensed that he felt guilty. He didn’t come by to often to see her but even when he had they didn’t talk about what happened. She patted the spot she made for him. “Brought me to some fruit?” She smiled, she enjoyed fruit. Not that Eir’s cooking was bad. It was… Very healthy. But she missed being able to snack on her own food. She took a pear from the basket once he sat she sniffed it.
“Eir says that I should be able to go home in a few days. I feel like such a pain for having to stay here. But once I can take care of myself I want to get out of her hair.” She let her eyes look into Lea’s. What was on his mind? She wished she could read it sometimes. “How are you? Back on track with school?”
~~
It pained Lea to see Cedar like this, the way her voice would break when it came to some of the higher notes during the course of her speech a reminder to him of what she had been through. He took it all in his stride however, sitting himself on the edge of the bed as he set the basket he had brought with him on his lap.
“Am glad to hear that. Thought you might appreciate some variation in your diet. Want me to cut that up for you?” Making small talk such as this was nice. It helped to take his mind off the guilt he had come to associate with Cedar and gave him short-term goals that he could work on for her sake.
He had an impassive expression on his face as he allowed himself to hold her gaze for a few seconds before averting it, reaching for the pear she had in her hand while he shifted to get up from the bed. “Mm hm… should be on track for graduation come Spring if nothing goes wrong. Most of my classes are in the morning this semester so I should be able to give you a hand at the shop.”

Cedar tilted her head as he took the pear from her hand. She followed his form and as he walked away it hurt. She wanted to reach out and pull him back but that wouldn’t be right. They didn’t have a relationship like that... “Oh yeah?” She smiled after him. “I certainly hope that I can go and watch you.” Cedar wanted to be supportive; Lea was in a critical point in his life. School was very important in life and she wanted to make sure he did the best he could.
“How is everyone else?” She had hoped that he had seen the others a bit too. She knew they were doing okay, everyone had scars of different kinds from what happened. But they were alive but Lea seemed to be taking it harder. She wasn’t at all aware that it was guilt over her. She was a witch and she had a power that could be dangerous but she chose to use it. And this is what happened. This was her own fault.
“Lea… Why won’t you look me in the eye anymore?”
~~~
“If you could spare the time, I would like that. Kei and Lulu would likely be there as well.” Lea could just about imagine the smile Cedar had on her face when she spoke fondly of his coming graduation. Even if he couldn’t see it with his own eyes now that he had to focus on the task of peeling the pear he had retrieved from her in his hand. She had a kind soul despite the hardships that she had to go through in her life. He didn’t deserve that kindness. Not when he had utterly failed her back at Poena Privus.
“They’re fine I suppose. Assignments and projects keep them all busy. You know how the academy’s like.” She didn’t need to know that their mutual friends were worried about them, hence his decision to conveniently leave the details of those conversations they’ve had with him out when she needed to focus on her recovery. Besides, he was pretty sure that they would have the sensibility to not mention them to her as well so he was good. For now.
He was almost done with peeling the pear when Cedar posed her next question, only pausing for a few seconds and then giving it a good rinse before turning back to her with a wry smile on his face to attempt to dismiss any concerns she might have developed. “Well, I needed to concentrate on peeling the pear lest I accidentally cut myself.” He replied tongue in cheekly, his eyes still averted from hers on the pretext of focusing on his current task as he picked up one of the slices with the intention of feeding it to her.
“Now, be a good girl and open up. Ah…”
Cedar watched him with a tilt in her head. She enjoyed Kei and Lulu’s company. They were quite the pair really. But even more so, she took pride in seeing Lea achieve his goals and his own self pride. She would do everything in her power to be there for him on that day. She slightly brushed off his comments about their friends. No, she didn’t hear about the concerns but the person she had brought it up was to try and get him to open up a bit. She nodded thoughtfully and poked at the blankets a bit before looking back out the window.
She wasn’t crazy. She knew that there was something going on and it was boiling inside her. She wanted to grab and shake the feline, but… She simply didn’t have the energy. She looked over at him in a sad way as he started to re-approach her. It was so frustrating being like this that she wanted to cry.
She opened her mouth for him obediently but once his fingers bumped her lips she leaned forward quickly and snapped her teeth onto him, biting him. She sniffed as she let go, she didn’t bite hard enough to actually hurt him. But enough to shock him, she didn’t want him to see her cry. Not that she had any tears left. She chewed on the pear and looked back out the window. “Ah well.. You don’t need to hang around. I’m sure that you have better things to do.”
~~~
What exactly just happened here? Lea was puzzled by Cedar’s reaction to be honest. Did he say or do anything wrong and upset her in the process? But he could swear that he had been very careful with his own words and actions. Maybe too careful. What was it that some people said? Too much of a good thing could actually turn out otherwise.
Bummer.
The next slice of pear was already at his fingertips as he gazed upon Cedar. Was one of her wounds in particular troubling her at the moment? Did he need to get Eir to take a look at it? He opened his mouth to form the words that made up his questions when he heard her seemingly non-chalant comment, a chill running down his spine as he lowered his eyes to the blanket pooled around her lap.
“I don’t.” The ache in his chest that he had momentarily willed himself to forget was back. Fetching a plate from the bedside table, he placed the pear slices in it before setting it back down where he had found it. “I don’t have anything better to do. But I’ll go if that’s what you want.” All he could think of in his mind was how he couldn’t even do something as simple as this right for her sake and that he needed to leave lest he antagonized her further and hampered her recovery with his cursed presence.

Cedar realized she was probably harsher then she meant. She glanced over when he got up and turned her head to follow him. She didn’t want to push him away but there was just… There was a wall there. She didn’t know how else to describe it. And he put it there, she hated that feeling. Her parents did the same thing to her when her younger brother died.
“I’m sorry… That came out wrong.” She said softly. She pulled at the blankets, it was hard for her to be comfortable but she did the best she could. It hurt, but nothing could be done so she had to be grateful for what she had and not take things out on those trying to help. Shifting in the bed a bit she exhaled. If he wasn’t going to talk about it. Maybe she had to be the one to do?
“You should know I never want you to go away.” She swallowed, “But I am a big girl and I make my own choices… “ The young witch hoped he might have picked up on where she was going with this. That night, she chose to stay so that her friends and him could make it out. “I wanted to make sure you were safe.”
~~~~
Lea simply stood there in silence, waiting for the words he was so sure were about to come. The disappointment at his failure in his duty to protect her back then, the resentment at his absence during her entire period of recovery, the anger at his current feeble attempt to make it all up to her.
This was it.
He steeled himself for the expected outcome of all this, his entire body tense as he dug his fingers into his own palms and momentarily held his breath. First, an apology. Yes. Such was how most people would choose to begin before breaking the bad news thereafter. Nothing out of the ordinary. He braced himself and then blinked at what Cedar said next.
Came out wrong?
The confusion was apparent on his face when he gazed at her with his mouth wide open. “How can you still say that after everything that has happened?” Lifting a hand to first run it through his hair then tug on his ear, he frowned at how wrong this was turning out, his lips pressed in a thin line as he shook his head a few times.
“I broke my promise to you and look what happened.” It would have been so much better if she behaved in accordance with how he had been expecting this to turn out. Maybe he would feel a little better if she yelled at him and told him that she wanted him out of her life.
Anything but this.
“What if you never come back?” Tearing his gaze from her, his voice was barely above a mere whisper as he posed that last question, his hand quivering slightly with another tug on his own ear to help keep his own emotions in check.
“But you didn’t break your promise Lea.” She tried to smile at him in a reassuring manner. “We got separated by powers beyond us. I don’t blame you for that. I know now, what you’re thinking and possibly feeling.“ She swallowed again and took in a deep breath, flattening out the sheet. “I was scared, I won’t lie about that. But I knew if you could be with me, that you would have been. You didn’t let the monster go. That woman did.”
She never blamed anything on Lea because it wasn’t his fault. But knowing now that he thought it was made her understand a bit better why he didn’t come to see her. And it honestly made her sadder. Why did he feel that he had to avoid her rather than coming to see her and telling her about this? In her head it was so easy for her to know that had the tables been turned, she would have been at his side and spoken up. However, she had been through this before… When her little brother died.
“If I never… “ She sighed and reached her hand out toward him. She didn’t have much strength and her arm and hand trembled as she waited for him to take it before she kept going, gently tugging him to the edge of the bed.
“I lost everything when I was little… I felt like my parents despised me for something that… Was out of my control. You Lea, have become my new family, along with our friends and I will protect you, just like you promised to protect me. I made a promise to make sure that I would do everything I could to help you all. I would have been okay, knowing I did the right thing for you. Because you have others that love you. “ By this point her Cedar’s eyes started to brim with tears.
~~~
It wasn’t something that Lea wanted to talk about with anyone, least of all Cedar whom he felt responsible for her current state. He really didn’t see any point in making excuses for himself given that things had turned out the way they did.
“If I had tried harder and did what I was supposed to do, perhaps you wouldn’t have to go through all that.” He spoke somberly after a long silence, taking hold of Cedar’s hand and allowing her to draw him back to the edge of her bed with what remained of her strength. He couldn’t forget the feeling of dread all of them had when they initially thought that she was lost to them with the unresponsive state they found her in. Really they had both Ein and Luciel to thank for Cedar’s recovery or what they all had feared might become a permanent reality.
“I… don’t hate you for what happened.” It was vexing how things weren’t turning out exactly as he had envisioned them to. He thought that he had made his stand clear, that he was to be blamed for the suffering she had to go through now because of his own ineptitude. What exactly would it take for her to understand that he no longer deserved any of her kindness?
Very briefly he contemplated making up an excuse so that he could remove himself from the situation and then he saw the tears welling up in her eyes which led to him postponing whatever plans he had in his mind for the time being, a frown on his face as he lifted his other hand to gently wipe away her tears. “I don’t want to be protected Cedar. Not if it means that someone has to die in order to make that possible. I wouldn’t allow it.”

Raising Lea’s hand to her cheek she lightly nuzzled it after he wiped her tears away. She smiled up at him “Silly cat…” She shook her head and left it at that. This wasn’t something to argue over and it wasn’t that she wanted to die by any means. She moved to press her lips against the top of his hand.
It was getting harder for her to keep her eyes. Crying had always tired her out and it was the reason she always tried to avoid it… Other then it being a bit embarrassing. She could hear Eir downstairs thrashing about the kitchen which meant she was working on getting dinner ready. She slide her olive colored eyes to the window. Had it really been that much time?
“I should probably lay down before dinner… “ She looked up at him. She knew that if he left now, she might not see him for a while… No that wasn’t what was holding her back. She didn’t want him to leave period. But it would be inappropriate for her to ask him to stay right...? Her grip on his hand tightened ever so slightly with her strength draining, she tried linking her fingers into his.
“Lea… Would you… Um… “ She averted her eyes. “Would you uh… Stay with me?”
~~~
Having spoken his mind with regards to who should be protecting who and how far one should go, Lea was honestly expecting Cedar to give him a piece of her mind for that. That or something worse instead of the smile she was giving him as she kissed the back of his hand. Was she serious, or was he going to have to get Eir to confirm that there was indeed no damage done to her soul?
“You should. Get as much rest as you can.” Alright. Perhaps it was the fatigue that was starting to mess with her mind. On the other hand, that would be the cue he needed to take his leave and be on his way. Or rather that was what he thought until she next asked him to stay.
He froze in place for a split second before resuming what he had been in the midst of doing, tugging on the edge of the blanket so that he could tuck her in once he had eased her back onto the sheets. “I’m not going anywhere Cedar.” He gave her the one answer he knew she wanted to hear from his lips with a small smile, fully intent to make good on his own promise to try to make it up to her somehow after all that had happened.
He supposed that he could stay for dinner at least.
As Lea eased her back into the bed, Cedar smiled up at him watching him move around. She reached her hand out to his again before he moved it to tuck her in and make sure she was settled. She was comfortable and warm and now that she was settled in she felt exhausted.
Her eyes followed him around the room as they got heavier watching to make sure he stayed. But eventually sleep over took her. With whatever kind of healing Eir was using on her these days or maybe… It was the herbs. She didn’t dream that was probably a good thing, keeping the nightmares away. But eventually Cedar would have to face them.
