Taking in a large breath of the cold air the stallion looked around the snow covered lands. "Here we meet again snow." He met the snow at least five times now. Brian smiled remember when he was just a colt playing,so unaware of the dangers that linger in the snow.But as he grew older,it became more clear that in some cases that danger doesn't always hang around. As long as you have family or friends around you'll be safe. Though there are some cases when there wont always be help there to save you.
Watching his daughter grow up was a blessing,her first time in the snow and wondering what in the world it was.He wanted to feel that all over again,the feeling of being a father and watching your own grow up.

He wished life didn't pass by so quickly,it was in no time that his daughter grew up and it was his mothers fourth or fifth year on these lands. It all seemed to be going so fast,Aella was hoping to bare children one of these days and his mother hoped to find love again.With his bothers and sisters going off on their own he never heard from them besides Accalon,which he lived near by with his own mate and daughter.

Brian sighed a little bit just watching as the snow fell.He stood by the frozen river near his home.

It was also Adrienne's fifth winter; although sometimes she felt older than her years, especially now that her children were long grown up and had left their place of birth. Her dear mother was always around though, and after visiting her children she was heading home to see Ardia and the coldest months with her.

She had a way to go yet until she was back home though, and she trotted on quite quickly, her breath streaming white behind her as she went, the snow crunching whenever she stepped onto untrodden drifts. Somewhere nearby she could just smell a body of water, and eventually her path took her to the bank of a river. Most of it was frozen over, and she carefully edged down towards the ice, cracking it with one firmly stamped hoof.
She sniffed at the still flowing water that she had uncovered and took a quick drink, the cold making her teeth ache for a moment.

Once she was standing upright, she looked along a little ways for somewhere to cross as the ice wouldn't take her weight.

Watching the snow fall he seen something at the corner of his eye.A mare trying to cross the water.Brian was worried about her safety if the ice would break even more. He let how a huge breath of air and started moving a little.The snow crunching under his huge hooves
"Would you need some help?" He called out to the mare near by. "I can certainly help if you need to get across." Brian offered because he didn't want to see anyone hurt or something even worse.

He remembered when it was during the summer and his brother had fallen into the river. His brothers father went in after him and saved him.It was one scary moment and Brian didn't want to wait around to see it happen again,especially in this weather.Though at that time Accalon was seeing things that weren't actually there,which was weird in a foals mind. Everyone was okay with him until Accalon's father had left,everyone was so worried about Accalon and his safety that apparently the father thought they didn't love or care for him anymore.So he vanished and never came back again to say hello or see the family grow. Brian's mother Niele and Accalon went searching one day,but all they found were Accalon's fathers children.
They wouldn't even say where he was or if they actually knew him,but they looked exactly like him.

Adrienne was slightly startled when the stallion spoke as she hadn't been paying a great deal of attention to her surroundings and hadn't heard him approach.

'Oh! Hi there.' she said, looking at him from where she stood on the opposite bank of the river. She made sure her footing was more stable, digging her hooves into the soft mud.

'Yes, yes please, I mean, if you know of a place where I can cross without having to touch the ice that would be a great help. I'm a little too big to do so without cracking it.' she grinned.
'Maybe years back when I was a filly, but definately not now.'

Brian smiled to her and started walking down the side of the river towards her. "Hello." He thought about where he could help her get across the water."Hmm.. I do." Looking down the river he motioned to some rocks."There are some big rocks down there,just please be careful." Making his way down towards the rocks,he had in his mind to make sure she got across safely. "They may be a bit slippery,but I'll be here to catch you."

He promised her the safety of her crossing. The mare didn't seem to be that big,but then again he was a extremely large stallion. He laughed at her statement."I agree there,back then I wasn't so heavy."

She followed him as he walked down his side of the river, and looked slightly dubiously at the rocks that he showed her. She wasn't entirely sure of this plan or if she would be agile enough to cross without slipping but she didn't want to be rude and maybe it would be okay.

Adrienne gave a short nod, and put a hoof on the nearest rock, feeling to make sure it was firmly wedged in place. She put her weight on it, then careful began to cross, her muscles twitching as she fought to stay balanced and not to slip. A few more steps, and then a few more...it was with a great deal of relief that she made the bank and was standing before the stallion.

'Thanks. I'm Adrienne by the way. I can't imagine you little if I'm honest,' she said with a broad smile.

Brian smiled as the mare got across the rocks.He was standing close just encase he had to jump in to save her.Nodding his head slowly he agreed that it was a good thing she got across safely,He'd be in a great deal of debt if she had gotten hurt. "You're much welcomed. It's a pleasure."Brian bowed for the female and smiled."I am Brian,I am glad to see you made it across safely. I would have felt terrible if you had gotten hurt."
Looking back at himself he noticed how actually big he was compared to her.He never really cared for his size,but when people pointed it out he felt that being huge was a problem.Others may think of it as a blessing,depending on your views.

It was only now that she realised quite how dainty she seemed against this stallion - she didn't mind though, he might be imposingly large but in personality he was all friendly and helpful, which in her book counted far more.

'Adrienne.' she replied, giving her own name.
'Well I was a little doubtful, but your advice turned out to be sound and I'm in one piece so I shall always think well of your words, and of you.'

Even if they never met again after this day, it was good to know that there were those out there polite and willing to help a stranger.

'It must have gotten more cold then I thought whilst I was away, it wasn't frozen when I was travelling in the opposite direction. Anyway, thank you for your help, I hope I'm not keeping you from being somewhere?'

Backing up just a bit to give the mare room,he gave her a small bow."Its a pleasure,Adrienne." Smiling softly he laughed at her statement. "I see,well I wouldn't send you across that if I wasn't sure you were going to be safe,even if you weren't I would've tried to catch you." Shaking out his mane he looked around them to make sure that they were safe out in the open."That is good. I am glad you'll remember me." That was one of the prized things about being polite and helpful.They remembered you and it gave good impressions. It made him feel like he achieved something,rather than doing nothing at all to help others."It has been changing quickly,so it is likely where you once was it has changed by now." Brian nodded and gave her a nice smile."You're very welcome,i'm glad to help." He blinked and looked around thinking."No! Not at all,I was just hanging around here for just a while."

She chuckled;
'Well, like I said, it was sound advice, but I'm a little too old to blindly trust everything a stranger tells me.' she winked.

'And you would have caught me huh? Kind and a gentleman. If my mother were here right now she would be giving me eyes, and then asking you inappropiately nosey questions.'

Adrienne nodded;
'Winter just stole up on me, though I should have known better than to be travelling at this time of year. Still, it was good seeing my children, and it will be as good when I get home again.'
She smiled again.
'Well that's good, did you want to walk? I don't have to rush now I'm nearly home and I'd like to get to know you better, if I may?'

She was right there,who knows what kind of people were out in this world aiming to hurt others. That was one of his worries in this world,he hadn't met the worst of them yet even though he was alive for plenty of years. Brian raised his ears when she started talking about her mother. "She would?" He laughed. "I was taught well,my mother would be quite angry if I didn't help a beautiful mare."
Brian smiled as he held a conversation with her. It had been a long while since he held a long enough conversation with someone to even know their name. That last time was with his older mate,thinking about her made his heart ache.
"Family is important though,especially children."He thought about his own children,he'd go through hell and back to see them even though its been quite a while.
A walk?Brian thought about it,maybe he should go on the walk with her."I wouldn't mind walking for a little while. Standing in the cold makes you stiff after a while." Her wanting to get to know him made him blush a little bit,though his black cheeks made it hard to notice. "I'd love to get to know you as well."

Adrienne nodded, chuckling as she did so;
'Oh yes. My wonderful mother, she is the Elder of our herd, and has taken into her head to be one of those who feels remarkably free to be embarrassing and quite nosey, age has given her wisdom and a sense of humour.'

She shook her head at the thought, but it was warmth, as she did love her mother to pieces.
'So she would be winking at me, and then asking you all sorts of questions - mostly of a personal nature about whether you were in a relationship - and if you weren't, well then she'd attempt to be a matchmaker. So there, you escaped that.'

Adrienne nodded, replying;
'Very, a family is the best kind of thing to have in life I think.' she spoke with some wistfulness though, as she wouldn't get to grow old with the father of her children.

'Yup, old bones and all that.' she teased Brian and then set off walking, talking again once they were on the move.
'Sooo..do you have children of your own?'
She guessed he might, which probably meant he was mated.

"Elder you say? I don't think I've ever encountered one of those." Brian blinked,weren't elders soquili that have been through a ton in their life?He really didn't know what they were.He laughed softly at her comments."Maybe that's a good thing,gives more excitement to life." He smiled at the thought of their mothers,his wasn't very talkative or got out very much,but she did like to see others and how they interact with others. Especially loved her grandchildren,when his children were foals she couldn't wait to see them.

Brian listened to the mare,seemed like how a father would act about his daughters."I wouldn't mind answering her questions." Giving a soft laugh he shook his head. "Indeed it is," Brian thought about his family and how much he enjoyed them."I'm not sure how one would go through life without one."

His ears perked at her questions, "Yes,I have three." He said to her in a soft tone."Do you?"Brian wondered where that question came from,probably because he talked about families and children too much.Sadly he didn't have a mate anymore,did she?He wondered as he looked at her waiting for her reply.

'No? My mother is the best example of one I can think of, though I'm sure I'm slightly biased in that opinion.' Adrienne chuckled.

'She's always there whenever anyone in our large family might need her, and she is happy to lend a hoof or listening ear to strangers as well.' the mare continued, obviously very proud of her mother.

'Yes, I have three children as well, unfortunately their father and I..well, we aren't together anymore.'
It had been a while since she and Kale had lost touch but she still thought of the family she had been making with him with a touch of wistfulness. She smiled again though before saying;

'So, yeah. That's why mother would be attempting to matchmake.'

"Biased?I don't think you are,She's your mother.I think you have a right to think that regardless." He smiled and nodded his head.His family wasn't too large,the only large part about it was his sister that was mated to an angeni and their kids had kids.Also because his daughter probably already had children.He sighed and flicked his tail."That is good,its always nice to have a helping hand." Brian shook his head when she stated her mate had vanished."I..am sorry to hear that." He paused for a little bit then thought it over,he would tell her as well.

"My..Mate left as well." He offered her comfort with a small smile.It was quite sad to see two wonderful beings have such a tough spot in their heart that was made from another."I would've played the matchmaker." He said with a soft voice as he looked at the mare."She just would love to see you have that once huge smile upon your face again."
