Abbott sat quietly at a table as the band set up. She was there early as usually because she wanted to get a good spot. It was one of her favorite bands who played at this coffee shop regularly so she knew where to sit to really enjoy the sound that the were going to play.
She gently took a sip of her coffee and smiled. It was getting closer and closer and she couldn't wait. It wasn't took pack and she enjoy that because all of the people who were here could enjoy their time. She smiled once again and quickly look at her wirst watch and frown. She should have enough time. She felt the urgent itch that only a smoke break could ease.
She didn't have to stay out there for too long. She could quickly take a small smoke break and be back in enough time. She smiled again, nodded her head at the drummer who she had become good friends with and step outside to her well needed smoke break. She stood outside of the door and quickly took out one of her homemade cigarettes and quickly light it and gently took a small smoke from it.

Stroud had gotten over the frenetic, anticipatory fever that preceded live concerts for most young fans that showed up to live events - the jockeying for seats, the inability to leave them for a single moment while staring at the band as they set up and checked equipment, the inability to enjoy a single sip of anything for fear of blinking or missing a note. Instead, she was quite relaxed and already long since had scoped and claimed a spot and had promptly gone outside to enjoy the ritual of filling, tamping, topping off, lighting and puffing on her peterson. The well-loved leather pouch and tobacco she'd brought was superbly aromatic - a traditional Cavendish, Virginia grown and matured with almond and amaretto notes. Sweet, hot and sticky burning. She loved sweet and spiced blends in the fall and winter. The door opened and closed, and a girl was there with unlabeled papers and lighting up. Cigarettes. Stroud moved her pipe to the corner of her mouth, "I'm not familiar with the blend. Do you mix your own tobacco, or import?" She plainly rolled her own. Cigarettes over the counter were usually too full of crap that it ruined the flavour. Ruined the art. "Sometimes I'll pick up some Dunhills. But usually I just roll cigarettes with Pipe tobacco. Ever try it?"

Abbott didn't even notice that there was another woman outside, so when she spoke it made the red-ish brown hair female jump a little. She quickly steady herself and gave the other woman a small smile. It looked like she was about the same age as her and it seem that she had some sense in tobacco because she was very familiar with the smell that came from her pipe. She gently inhaled some of the almod and amaretto scent. It was Cavendish, a type of tobacco she enjoy greatly. She wasn't a person who smoke pipes or cigars which Cavendish was know to use for but she had friends who swore by this tobacco so she knew it well.
Before she talked she let out a small smile and flicked her cigarette. "I mix my own tobacco. The trash they sell from the store will kill you and they taste awful. I enjoy mixing my own as it's an art to find just the right mix." she paused to smile once again. She enjoyed talking about tabacco, really with someone who knew what they were talking about, and from the smell of her pipe she knew what she was talking about. "I'm using Dokha right now, which isn't to familiar in this part, it's from Iran. It's a light one mixed with strawberries. Usually it's smoked midwakh but I like cigarette so I place it carefully in a some. You're smoking Cavendish, correct? I don't smoke out of pipes and cigars but I have friends that swear by it." she finish with another small smile.
She looked over again as the female talked again. She smiled once again, she was correct. This female knew what she was talking about. Most people who smoke didn't even know of Dunhills because they were exported and more money then counter cigarettes. "Yeah, Dunhills are alight, but I only picked those up if I don't have any rolled cigarettes on me and I really need a smoke." she paused again to smile and nodded her head, "Yes, I have. I do enjoy it. I like smoking cigarettes that have fruity flavors to it and pipe tobacco seem to be the best when mixing with them." she took a small hit of cigarette and exhaled happily.

"A hybrid Virginia leaf, yes, Cavendish. You've a good nose, testament to swearing off the tar and cyanide counter fags." Stroud smiled and held out her hand to shake, "Marinus. " "Are you a regular? Or here for the band? Or both? " The cigarette girl was handsome- solid features and clean complexion. Trendy sense of style, so to speak. "Here with friends?" It didn't seem likely, since if one person in a group smoked, usually someone would either come out to chat during a smoke or social-lightup with them. And together they were the only two braving the wintery evening for some mixed fresh and flavoured air.

Aah that's what it was. It smelt great nevertheless. She smiled as the woman talked, looking away to hide her blush. Most people didn't understand her love for tobacco but it seem that this woman did. She laughed a little and looked back at her. "Why thank you. It seems you have a taste in flavor. I'm just enjoying the scent, which is nice." she smiled and took her hand and shook it. The female had a strong grip, which she is enjoyed. She hated when people didn't give proper hand shakes. "Nice to meet you, I'm Abbott Niles, by the way." she finish with a smile.
"I'm a regular, I guess you can say. I come for the here a lot because this coffee shop host a lot of local bands and I love listening to the music they have to also. I also know someone in the band because I've been here so often. And you?"
She looked at the female once again. She was also handsome, sleek and clean features. Something that Abbott admired. "Actually no. You? " she said with a friendly smile.

"Regular enough that I know some of the barristas, but not on a scheduled, time-slot basis. " Taking her hand back she cupped her pipe to remove it and blow a smoke ring, "I'm all over the city's venues when it comes to music and gallery openings or performance events. So if a band plays one spot a lot, I tend to only catch a performance every other month. " "I'm what industry calls an 'angel investor'. " She chortled, " ' Patron' is a lot more elegant." "The coffee's pretty decent here. The morning crew gets a little rushed and burns the espresso from time to time, so I'd stick to the evening runs. " "As far as friends, I believe I am now, " She said with a confident grin.

She nodded and also took a small smoke of her cigarette inhale deeply. "Ahh I see. I bounce around coffee shops a lot because I like to hear a variety in music bur I think I may come here a bit more then you do." she said with a sweet smile.
"Oh I see. And Yeah I ten to stay to the evening runs also as I like to brew my own coffee from I can bring the pot of it with me to work."
She looked to the female with a smile. "You bet. Someone with your knowledge of tobacco can defiantly be friends with me." She match her confident grin.

"Can't say I brew my own. I should, but I've never found a samovar or press that I liked well enough to buy and use. It's a nice excuse, anyway, to get out of the studio and go buy a cup every couple of hours as a break. If you never take a breather and step back from work, then you get wall-eyed and stop seeing mistakes." "Why don't you introduce me to your band friend then, and we share an 'Irish' on me? " Stroud opened her coat lapel, revealing a few 50mL bottles of whiskey - she meant the cocktail consisting of hot coffee, Irish whiskey, and sugar topped with cream. "Easy enough to order espresso with cream on top and finish it out ourselves. Its a good chaser to the cold and a smoke. " She grabbed the door and held it open for Abbott, exaggerating a friendly bow while knocking her pipe out of ash.

She smiled at the comment of stepping back from work. She was bad at that. She always drained herself at work. She didn't care, it had to be done and she was liked to work so nothing could stop her, but the other female was right sometime it was good to stop but only sometimes. "Well I like the smell of coffee in my house. It makes it a lot easier to smile when I come home from a hard days of work, if I have something that makes my house smell good, but who knows everyone has a different style." she said with a slight smile.
She looked at the female and grin. "I would love that. I must say Stroud, you do come up with some wonderful ideas. I'm sure, Michael will love you. He's pretty laid back guy." she said nodding at her and killing her cigarette and heading indoors.
Ad she walked in she waved her friend over and her gently moved by there sides. "Michael, Stroud. Stroud, Michael. The woman knows her way around tobacco and you know I don't say that easily." she said grinning back at the female.

Marinus left her jacket open - the affirmative was all the extra motivation she needed to put the plan into action. Niles had gained chill points in being up for the drinks, combined with smoking and mixed in with some coffee had her ranking at excellent on Stroud's rating scale. This one might be a keeper. She lifted her hand as they went in, signalling with three fingers up, and circled them, to the barrista to indicate she wanted three of her standing order brought. After that, she shook Michael's hand, "And your friend Abbott has superb taste. " "There's a round coming on me, as well as a flavour shot we can pour in ourselves. I'll make you both a wager. If your band can get Abbott here to forget to drink her drink until its cold during your performance, You've got yourselves a two hundred dollar tip. If she doesn't, just one." She liked donating to bands, and if this one had a friend who seemed mature and interested in the finer things, they deserved some money win or lose.

Abbott enjoyed Stroud take charged attitude and gave a small smile towards the other lady. She was a friendly person because of her job but she was also very independent and didn't like to have too much company but it seemed that she could at get along with the woman, which was pretty far with people in her land.
She cocked an eyebrow and the other female talked. Hmm, a challenge, she did enjoy them greatly and it seemed here friend seem to enjoy it also. The man smiled and nodded, understanding this request quite well and head to his band to talk to them. "I do quite enjoy challenges, Ms. Mariuns, I wounder if they will be able to keep me away from my drink." she purred out.

"Wagers are fun when everyone is winning. And nothing motivates like fine lips on a good drink, " Stroud, clinked her mug against Abbott's in a friendly toast. "Music we can move to, I hope." It seemed a likely prediction- when the band started the beats were good and the bridges were skilled. Coffee shops weren't exactly places where you could stand up, stretch out and boogie down, but the antiquarian had no qualms about 'chair dancing' and bumping occasional shoulders with Abbott playful. Or making entertaining, exaggerated faces at her over their drinks to try to get her to blush or laugh.

It was unusual for the short haired female to blush but Mariuns was a very good sweet talker and she couldn't help but too. She gently took a few slips of her drink and gave the other woman a small smile, while looking back at the band with even smaller smile.
Abbott let out a few small laughs while the other woman started to chair dance. And after awhile she started to feel her shot and started to move too. It was fun to have someone who enjoyed the same music you do and she was quite enjoying her time. "You're quite an interesting specimen, Stroud." She said with a sinister grin.

"Interesting enough for museums, too troublesome to be kept in them, " she winked. Marinus didn't actually talk much during the music, despite her antics. They were there to listen and enjoy as much as to bask in social energy. As the performance was coming to a close, Stroud stretched out her long limbs and then set her own mug down with the authority of a gavel. She belied the intensity of it by leaning over Abbott's arm and checking Abbott's drink, "What's the verdict?"

"Quite so, Indeed Ms. Marinus" She winked back at her.
Abbott never talk too much during any performance. It was rude and she wanted to indulged in the art as much as humanly possible, so it was fine with her that the other lady did not talk as well.
She was so warped up in the performance that when the other female lean over it almost startled her. She looked to her and then down at her drink and smiled. "Well Ms Marinus, I think the band just gain 200 dollar." she said as her lips curled up, playfully at the other women.
