With the air being slightly colder, she was a little bit slower than normal. Her body wasn't use to this kind of change in temperature and it was very strange for her to be exploring in it. She should have probably found shelter somewhere but she thought better of it at the last second. Her hooves trudged through the grass that was frosted over and covered in snow, it wasn't a lot but it was still a bit of a struggle for her small frame. There was probably just an inch or two on the ground of the white powder but because of the cold, it was like it had formed together to be one giant mass. Naerdiel sighed to herself as she continued to struggle walking through the snow.
After what seemed like hours of trudging through the annoying white stuff, she made it to a different forest. The snow didn't seem to be so thick around the trees so that was where she journeyed. She tried to stick close to the trees as she wandered through the wooded area. As she traveled, her eyes would occasionally travel towards the sky where she would hope to see some sort of sunshine to melt away this gunk but it was all just gray sky. It somehow seemed to be fitting because it was how she felt on the inside; she was very sad and gray. She wasn’t full of happiness or excitement to see something new; she just wanted the old way back.

Squish. Squish. Squish. Vatsa almost laughed to himself at the noise his hooves were making on the grass where sheltered snow had melted and make the ground soft underneath. It was a gloomy winter's day but he was okay with that, he had a relatively thick coat and his tendency to travel through all weathers had made him pretty hardy.
He wove his way in and around the trees, occasionally looking up at the slate grey sky. It was always better to be a bright day during winter; though the blue sky and the wintery sun weren't warm, they tended to brighten spirits during this season, and meant that there was some difference between night and day.
Still, he knew that eventually it would turn towards spring again, it only wanted some patience to wait out the cold months ahead. He paused under an evergreen tree, rooting around under the low-hanging branches for any grass that might have been missed, shivering as a lump of hald-melted snow dropped on his neck. 'Brr!' he exclaimed, his breath puffing out a white cloud that hung for a moment before vanishing. 'Now that was cold.' he said, his voice echoing in the wooded stillness. He looked around, a sheepish smile on his face, hoping that no one nearby was witness to him talking to himself.
Naerdiel has observed some dark form appearing to be trying to scrounge around looking for something. She assumed it was a food source to feed their starving body. She knew just how it was, she was hungry as it was but she didn't want to fight with the hassle of trying to find grass for herself. As she got closer to the form, she noticed that he was male and just as she was about to say hello; snow fell on him from the tree. He seemed to be speaking to himself but she decided to spare him. "What are you talking about, it is cold period." She spoke the words softly as she got even closer to him. Nae was sure that if she stayed the few short steps away from him, she wasn't to be heard because of her soft voice. "I'm Naerdiel." She figured it was best to introduce herself even if she wasn't really going to stay around that long. It was best in the end for both of them if she just vanished before they got attached be it for friendship or otherwise. She didn't need another heart break or pain from losing another friend right now. The female ducked her head as she began to shovel some of the snow with it. She did it just for show, she wasn't really looking for anything, and she didn't want to just stand there though.

Vatsa flicked an ear, dislodging a melting lump of snow that had slid there and smiled at the mare, a little suprised that he hadn't heard here approach, but he had had his head under branches.
'Oh it's not so bad, a bit brisk, but then it'll be spring again before you know it.' he said, giving her a little wink and taking a few steps away from the tree that he had been rooting under.
'Nice to meet you Naerdiel.' he said, his eyes taking in the little tail and the interesting markings on her pelt. He had yet to meet a Cerynei before now, but he had heard of them.
'I'm Vatsa. There's a little grass that's fairly healthy looking under that tree, the frost and snow hasn't been able to get at it.' he offered. He would have eaten it already had not the snow fallen on him, and it was only polite to instead offer it to the mare.
Naerdiel only nodded at his words hearing and accepting them. She didn't really have much to say to him because it was knowledge that this couldn't last forever or least she hoped it couldn't. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well Vatsa." She spoke the words a little louder but was still a little reserved and didn't want to get close to him. "Thank you but I'll pass, I'm not all that hungry." She spoke with honesty, she wasn't hungry nor interested in the grass that under the tree. She did though like how he offered it to her first, it was very kind of him.

'What are you doing out here today? If I may ask.' Vatsa asked, adding the latter words with a little smile, not wishing to sound nosey, but just trying to make conversation with this interesting looking mare.
'Well okay then, just thought I would check.' he stepped a few paces from the tree, if she did not want it he would eat it, but not right now as it would be rude to speak with a full mouth!
'I'll eat it later.' he said, shaking himself of the last wet drips, but not too vigorously so as not to catch the mare with them.
Nae had to think for a minute before she answered him. "Looking for sunshine." She figured it was best to be honest, it didn't really matter if he was nosy or not, everyone had right to be curious. "If you are hungry though, you should eat. I don't mind waiting until you are done." She gave him a small but genuine smile, then she turned her head away to look at the scenery and her smile faded. The sun needed to come and banish all the white and cold to another place.
