_________APPEARANCE ▪▫ Kage Muraiki is fairly pale-skinned teenager who has a knack for hoodies and pale colors that would contrast nicely with his straight, dark hair. His piercing green eyes seem peculiar, almost emerald, if you must put it in context. Being fairly skinny, Kage is the type of boy who could be easily knocked down, since he never, if not rarely, go out and exercise and keep up the required nutritional diet for a growing boy his age.
_________PERSONALITY ▪▫ Nerd, geek, introvert... Those are three of the many words that could describe Kage. He was never the type to freely look for social interactions in the real world. Independent? Not really, even Kage admits. He depends on other people when the situation requires it, even though he prefers to be left alone. Although he is an introvert, he isn't shy or antisocial; He just doesn't like to talk. Stoic, if you must put a word on his composure. However, within his calm expression is a waterfall of emotions, unable to burst through his small frame. His mind, analytic and calculating, readily answers questions posed by teachers and students alike. Smart? No. The emerald eyes simply takes in sensory information and encodes it within his neural pathways, then concentrating on retrieving already-learned information. His quiet nature hides the multitude of crazed events in his mind and subconscious.
_________BIOGRAPHY ▪▫ Kage Muraiki was born to a family of Japanese descent in Tokyo, Japan. In the family of six, he is the third youngest child of the Muraiki family. When he was young, he had always thought of himself as the mold of the family, having no real talent whatsoever. His elder sister, the first born, was a talented pianist able to blow away the crown with her supreme performances. His elder brother, born just a year before him, was intelligent beyond compare; He was ranked number one during his entire middle school years and was accepted to one of the most prestigious high schools ever in Japan with a full scholarship. His younger brother, born four years after Kage, is a natural-born leader, able to sway the opinions of whomever he met to his liking.

Kage, the poor child, was always overshadowed by his siblings. From the time he was young, he never heard a word of praise from his parents. What tortured him was the fact that his siblings could make his parents beam with joy, whereas he only made his parents frown. "Why can't you be like your brothers and sister?" A voice echoed in Kage's mind. He was alone in this world, without love and acceptance.

To forget all of his troubles, the dark-haired boy constantly shut himself in his room, avoiding all contact with the happy-people. If the mere sight of him made his parents frown with disgust, why not simply disappear from their lives? Every day from a young age, Kage woke up, dressed, went to school, came home, and immediately locked himself in his room. Even during dinner time, he waited until everyone had finished eating to feast upon his cold rice and accompanying dish.

It was from these moments that he developed his tendency to remain quiet, to be satisfied with a soundless world. Kage had plenty of time to think things through, organizing facts and figures in his head in the quite vicinity of his bedroom. Armed with nothing but textbooks and a computer, he conducted research on various eclectic topics, gaining new knowledge as time went by. Through reading random articles, the teen stumbled upon an ad for the famous NerveGear. He thought, why not? He had the time and money to waste. The next day, he purchased his first NerveGear from a packed technology store and with it, he bought his first vitual reality game. Immersing himself in the game, he found a new world to which he belonged; In the game, he could be anyone, everyone. He could be a lonely shop owner at the corner of that forgotten street, or a famous celebrity appearing in the wildest television shows. Excited for the first time in his life, he searched for more of these games, and eventually stumbled upon Sword Art Online. Applying to become a beta tester was rigorous, but it all paid off when he was granted access to the mysterious world of Aincrad.
