Life Hunter BATTLE ARENA General Information The portal opens up into an observation room, and down the stairs, an odd chamber for something like hunter training. At the center of a piranha-filled pool stands a solid stone table and several chairs. The Life Arena was built underneath the demolitions and ballistics testing areas, and the chamber rumbles with the occasional explosions above. Pinpoint red lasers sweep across the room regularly, as if hidden snipers are searching for a nice target. In the center of the table sits a wooden tower, made up of smaller wooden blocks. Yes. That's right. The Life Hunters prefer to train via Jenga.
Note: Distraction techniques and Yo Momma jokes are considered viable weapons when playing competitively.
If you fail: you have knocked down the tower! A small dart hits the back of your neck. You come to several hours later, and hope Dr. H didn't do anything to your body while you were unconscious. When you look into the mirror...
If you win: you have reached 50 points! You get a sharpie marker to do with as you please. peen points go to those with the highest scores.
Mechanics - by carefully removing pieces of the tower, you earn points and advance to the next round. As the rounds continue, the odds grow steadily against you. Rolling a 1 at any point means you have knocked down the tower. Please do enjoy your mystery dart. Anything after reaching 50 points is purely for peen.
- you may roll pieces individually (suggested for group play) or in batches of 5 (basically, a full round.)

One course down, now time for another. She remembered the handy and effective runic bandages and knew it was invaluable to nab one for herself - especially given her weapon's ability to cause an explosion. Life Hunters seemed pretty much all about the technology, which made her a bit nervous since well . . . runic tech was still a bit of a mystery to her.
So it wasn't a terrible surprise to see the particularly villain's lair-like layout of the Life Arena, though she did her best not to look at the piranhas as she stepped forward. Nor was it surprising to see the red laser lights of the snipers above. Neither of these things were what made her pale, however - no that belonged solely to the gunshot sounds above.
God, she was afraid of guns. The distant sounds made her wince every time a bullet was expelled.
She technically could have started, but Stormy was told someone else wanted to do the course and therefore had to wait. Friendly competition and all.

She didn't have to wait too long. A life trainee in a long hoodie-coat came running and skidding across the stone bridge and collapsed into the seat across from from Stormy, shouting something incomprehensible all the while: "Czekaj na mnie! Czekaj na mnie, przepraszam!" "Część,część. Am here for the... yenga," he read off of a paper he'd been clasping tightly enough to crumple a bit. When the room rumbled and shook, both hands gripped the table edge for dear life. Maniacs, these Americans were maniacs. One at a time, he began to slide the blocks out of the tower, hyperfocused. Another blast from above jolted him out of the zone - he jumped, and slammed his hand into the tower. Surveying the disaster he'd created was the was the first time he actually stopped to look up at his opponent across the table, framed by the mess of jenga blocks. "Ah! You -!" He reached toward his neck reflexively, then fell over backward. Status Round: 1Pieces Taken: 4 Total Points: 4

Stormy had time to blink, open her mouth, stop, consider the voice, remember it almost immediately (since no-one had that same accent), and open her mouth again -
- and then he knocked down the tower and fell over along with it. Techs came over to reassamble the Jenga masterpiece, and she scurried out of there way to kneel beside the poor guy, examining the dart with a wince. Hopefully she wouldn't have to come to terms with it. "Oh, Puppy . . ." She patted his hair, stood, and tried her luck.
Three pulls in and the thing fell apart and oh hello dart nice to meet you.
The trainee passed out and was dragged over to Lucky.

Szczeosny awoke some time later to the sight of lasers tracking across the walls and ceiling, a sharp pain in his neck, and someone else's hand in his.
Piosenka was giggling uncontrollably in his head.
It took a considerable amount of panicked flailing to disentangle his fingers from the girl's, whose hand fell limply back to the floor like a cadaver's. He rolled over and stared, horror creeping through him for for several seconds, before he pulled himself up and onto his knees dizzily. Was she unconscious? Was she dead? ... No. No, she looked like she was breathing. And sporting a drawn-on mustache?
"Część, Pani...?" He shook her a little, half talking to himself at this point. "Vake up? Proszę... please..."

A short while after him Stormy awoke with a drowsy moan and a twitching palm, like it knew there had once been something there and now there no longer was. Normally there was a a ringing in her ears if she passed out, but this time there was a soft buzzing and . . . someone talking in a weird language.
She blinked awake, yawned, and turned her head. "Hullo," she greeted as she stretched, wincing at the sting in her neck. "'Sup?"
Oh. Right. Jenga.
She sat up with a soft grunt and scratched her head. "Oh . . . hey. Got a 'stache now, Mario Bro." =3= "Nice~ You from the pre-pod stuff, right? Someone who sounds like you followed me all around the island like a puppy . . ."
And by "follow", Stormy meant "was dragged around". She gave him a sleepy half-smile. "Suuuuuup."

" See, she is okay," he pointed out to some invisible listener, glaring particularly in the direction of a lucky rabbit's foot keychain hooked on a belt-loop. Stormy could probably take a guess that he was talking to his weapon. In any other context maybe it would have been a little weird. And maybe it was still weird even in this one - he hadn't yet figured out he could just think these responses to Piosenka. He glanced back to the hunter apologetically. "You are okay, yes?" Szczeosny slid back up onto the bench as soon a the girl seemed to be coming round. At her observation he reached up and felt at his upper lip. His fingers came away smudged black with ink. "Follow... you are the always talking girl of the test?" Hesitantly, he slid one last block out of the rebuilt tower, completing the set of five on his side of the table. Okay? Well beyond the p***k in her neck and . . . She touched her upper lip and found it smudged as well. Well beyond the pain and a brand new mustache, she felt just dandy and bobbed her head again to say as much. Getting to her feet was a strangely difficult affair as her legs didn't want to work for some reason, but eventually the trainee was up (wobbly, but up).
"Yup~ And you were the guy I kept pulling around, right? The one talking in a really cool language?" She slid three pieces out delicately and put them on her table, pleased they managed some small progress. "What is it anyway? I like the sound of its words."

"Polszczyzna. Polish," he corrected himself. It was still weird to be surrounded by English-speakers. One at a time he pulled out the jenga blocks, moving as quickly as he could before something else would jump out and interrupt him. "Hah. You are much kind." "And you are American, yes?" The room shook again under a blast from above, sending some of the piranha-filled water splashing up onto the stone. Szczeosny set his hands back down on the table, pushing and stacking his jenga pieces in a small formation. "For much time I vonder if this place was American secret base. Thing of big conspiracy. But really, is something else complete." Status Round: 2 Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 20

emotion_kirakira Keep talking Polish to her. So lovely to listen to.
"Born in US, but pure Hispanic. I've spent a lot of time outside of it thanks to family," she answered, watching him go with curious eyes. He made it look so easy . . . Stretching her fingers, Stormy attempted to copy the same deft movements, picking pieces half at random, half consciously - sometimes thinking too hard made her too conscious and therefore likely to slip up. Also, thinking too hard would probably knock the tower down with the weight of her thoughts.
"I should get a name from you," she commented as she set the pieces on her table. "In hindsight it's weird calling you Puppy. Unless you like that name?"Status Round: 2Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 20

"Vas nice, yes?" At this point he had a veritable fortress of displaced blocks in front of him and no more materials to build with. "Am not one for travel. Here, island, is farthest I go, ever." "Err... is accept? Vish I were more of volf than puppy, but is vhat is." He laughed a little darkly and pulled several more blocks from the now decidedly less stable tower. He may not have been much to look at as far as most everything else, but his hands were deft from plenty of keyboard use. It was to his advantage, so long as he didn't think about it and mess himself up. "I can give you name, but I know for fact you cannot say back." Status Round: 3 Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 40

"Wolf", huh? Funny how that animal seemed to dog her even after the candidate trials were behind them. Pun intended. "I was part of a Wolf Pack, sorta. You remember?" She watched him go once more at the tower, a dreamy look in her eye. "Twin Fangs and Puppy. Yeah . . ." Fighting shadows off with daggers, his rubber pellet gun, and some luck. "You were the bark, we were the bite," she added with a fond smile.
It was easier to look back on, even if the living shadows still gave her nightmares.
"To be fair, mine's kinda long and unnecessary too. If you have a shorter one, I'll use that - Orrrrr I'll just call you El Lobo." She tapped her chin. "I like it. Fierce. I wouldn't mind being a wolf myself, but my fighting isn't all that great . . ."
It was dangerous to not be paying attention to which tile she pulled next, but she couldn't help it; Stormy was one prone to daydreaming. Unfortunately for the trainee paid for it this time as the tower came down with a rumble. She barely had time to squeak in surprise before a dart hit her.
Two darts.
Three.
Four.

"Vell, I tell mine if you tell yours..." The tower began to wobble unsteadily as he pulled out a tile, then suddenly collapsed while he was in the middle of his words. Stormy eventually came to with very sore spots on her body where the darts had embedded themselves. Aghhhhhghghg . . . Was this worth it?
< < Bandages, > > Thane reminded her.
. . . Yes, very very worth it. Knowing her luck, she'd start making the labs have a problem keeping stocked. With a groan the trainee rolled onto her knees and then to her feet with a wobble, limping to where Lucky had fallen and nudging him gently with her foot. "Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey . . ." Was there a way to say that in Polish? She'd ask him once he was up.
Stormy stayed vigil for a few moments until the life hunter stirred, at which point she floated away and began to pick at the re-assembled Jenga, very, very carefully this time.

The dart hadn't quite worn off, and Lucky's coordination was far from completely back. He suffered another one for his troubles in knocking a chunk of the tower over, but after a few minutes of zoning out, he moved to rebuild it. Status Round: 1Pieces Taken: 4 Total Points: 4
