Once the Battle Begins...

Prentices
Each of you has 10HP.
To attack, roll 2 10-sided dice.
The first die determines whether or not your attack hit: 1-4 Miss. 5-7 Half Damage. 8-10 Full Damage.
The second die determines the amount of damage.
If your first die was 1-4, your second die will not count.
If your first die was 5-7, the damage will be half the value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 5, 10, you will cause the Winter Wight 5 damage).
If your first die was 8-10, the damage will be the full value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled an 8, 10, you will cause the Winter Wight 10 damage).

Seconds Stagers
This system is more basic than our usual Battle System, so that everyone can participate, so your Stats will not be used here.
Each of you has 20HP.
To attack, roll 2 20-sided dice.
The first die determines whether or not your attack hit: 1-5 miss. 6-13 half Damage. 14-20 Full Damage.
The second die determines the amount of damage.
If your first die was 1-5, your second die will not count.
If your first die was 6-13, the damage will be half the value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 6, 20, you will cause the Winter Wight 10 damage).
If your first die was a 14-20, the damage will be the full value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 14, 20, you will cause the Winter Wight 20 damage).

Third Stagers
This system is more basic than our usual Battle System, so that everyone can participate, so your Stats will not be used here.
Each of you has 30HP.
To attack, roll 2 20-sided dice.
The first die determines whether or not your attack hit: 1-3 miss. 4-10 half Damage. 11-17 Full Damage, 18-20 Damage and a Half
The second die determines the amount of damage.
If your first die was 1-3, your second die will not count.
If your first die was 4-10, the damage will be half the value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 6, 20, you will cause the Winter Wight 10 damage).
If your first die was a 11-17, the damage will be the full value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 14, 20, you will cause the Winter Wight 20 damage).
If your first die was an 18-20, the damage will be the full value of the second roll, plus half the value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled an 18, 20, you will cause the Winter Wight 30 damage).

Winter Wight
The Winter Wight has 100HP.
The Winter Wight will roll the same as the Second Stagers.
It will be able to attack individuals or the group.

You may only attack once between the Winter Wight’s attacks (i.e. if you attack, no matter what you roll, you must wait until the Winter Wight attacks before you can attack again). However, you may continue to RP as frequently as you wish.
If you run out of HP, you have been knocked out and may not continue to battle.

It would be easiest to roll first, and then edit your post with an appropriate RP response.

A small group of people stood at the entrance of a large cave, bundled in furs, chattering quietly amongst themselves. Word had gone out the day before... a creature had been attacking livestock in the Zena settlements. Its tracks could be traced from place to place. Roati and Capramels gone, leaving only a few drops of blood, or lingering hairs to mark their existence.

At the forefront of the group was Freya, a furry hood pulled down over her face. She exhaled deeply. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting golden rays across the icy terrain. All of Zena seemed to be alive, sparkling and shimmering in the morning light. No doubt the creature would still be bunked down somewhere, full from a night's meal. They would have to get moving soon, though... or risk these attacks continuing.

They could only survive so much of their food being stolen.

"Make your last preparations." The woman announced, her clear voice ringing easily across the group. They would be moving soon.

[This may count as an RP or battle]

Keilana hadn't intended on joining them, in fact it was one of the last things she had felt like doing until her brother and his....love interest annoyed her enough to change her mind, at least this way she could distract herself and get out some really needed frustration and vent. Standing there with her hammer in tow she looked at the others who had joined them in the hunt for this..beast she didn't honestly believe existed.

Blowing a strand of hair out of her face she sighed, shifting her cloak before resting her hands back at her hammer's hilt. Looking at her comrades she wondered if any of them would be good in a fight and she noticed Animah and instantly moved herself towards her friend. Or at least the only one she would admit was her friend.

"You ready for this?"

Ayo stood nearby, quietly observing the group at hand. She nodded to a few of the wind tribe members, people she had seen before, but there was nobody here that she had truly met.

The young woman gently fingered the small blade at her hip, exhaling deeply. The tool was not meant for battle. It was meant for carving small animals, things meant to feed her. What she really wanted was to be an archer. The long ranged precision... it was an undeniably useful tool, something that she wanted more than anything.

That's why she had come here. She was getting old enough... had spent too much time not doing anything with her life, merely surviving from day to day. That was important, surely, but there was more to be done... larger dreams to pursue. And so she would help these people to track the beast... whatever it was... and hope to benefit in some way.

As long as she didn't die, she supposed.

Aminah twisted her newly aquired staff in her hands. This was her first time battling as a mage and she was more than just a little nervous. Her eyes scanned the group standing around her; the others that would be going on this trip. She blew a sigh from her mouth. She had met Zuri and Briella before, but couldn't seem to find the one person that she would be happy to see in a situation like this.

The voice came from behind her, making her jump. "Kei! She was happy to hear the familiar voice. She turned to face her friend and her smile widened to the edges of her face. She couldn't have beamed more if candy fell from the sky. "I... uh, yeah! Definitely." She forced a laugh. Keilana made her feel better, though she couldn't shake her nervousness yet. Her hands tightened on her staff.

Briella had decided on this last minute. She was the youngest of all her sisters, and she was tired of being treated like a child. The Elder had given her the practice blades, but she wanted to earn her own real ones. She had noticed a few faces that she knew, Zuri and Aminah being the two she had recently met while they had a little "tea party". But it was Kadriye who really caught her eye. Moving closer to her sister she smiled. "Hello Sister. Are you ready?" she asked with a smiled. She remembered seeing Kadriye back on the island. Then again she was one of the few Alkidike that could use magic, plus her face was one that was not easily forgotten.

She was ready for this battle, and a little sad that none of her tree sisters had joined her, but maybe it was better this way. Maybe this way she could prove herself to them. She hadn't even told them she was going, they would be a little scared at first but she would prove to them that she didn't need to be defended and was strong enough to take care of herself, and others. It was a little while since she left, Zena was far from home, but hopefully this whole adventure would be done with soon and she could go home. It was too cold here in Zena, she had never wore so much fur in her life. Even Amadi was cold and no up to his normal tricks, hiding in her hood to keep warm.

When Zuri heard there was trouble back at home she couldn't help but rush to help. She had a new home, that was correct, but Zena was where she grew up and if the people and animals of Zena needed her then she would come to their rescue. She had recently befriend a Roati herself, so she felt that she owed it to her to make sure that this monster was stopped. Looking around she only knew two people, and although she wished that Biroki was there she didn't think this was really something for him. She didn't see anyone from her old village either, but maybe that was for the best.

Moving towards Aminah she smiled. She had met the girl a while ago, and although they weren't that close of friends she was someone who she felt comfortable around. She had been jealous of the girl and the magic that she shared with Biroki, but knowing the girl was a mage helped her relax. She was wearing a little less fur then some of the others, but then again the cold was something she was use to. Although she hadn't regretted cutting her hair when in Jahuar she knew that her long hair would have come in handy back here in Zena.

Happy to at least know ONE person here Keilana had no intentions of letting Animah out of her sight, or let her get hurt...the girl looked rather nervous clutching that staff. Thinking on it...that was new wasn't it? Since when did Animah have a staff? The leaf tribe girl was about to ask about it when they were approached by someone else. Keilana didn't know who this person was, completely unfamiliar to her but judging by her skin tone she was from the area though the white hair threw her off slightly.

Clutching her cloak about herself she gave the new person a nod of the head. Not normally a cheerful person she would let Animah do the greeting she would just stick close to her friend and hope everything went well in this adventure.

"Either of you know anything about the creature we are hunting?" She inquired offhandedly as she was pretty sure it was just a folk tale this thing.

Her nervous laugh had barely ended when she noticed another familiar face coming her way. Zuri was smiling at Aminah and she returned the smile, waving toward her. She still didn't know Zuri too well, but she looked like she knew about as many people here as Aminah did.

"Hi Zuri! She smiled and looked back to Keilana. "Zuri, this is Keilana. She's from Tale with me." She smiled at the both of them. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could all stick together on this trip? At least she wouldn't be so nervous, especially since Keilana was already a guard and she knew she wasn't the only slightly inexperienced one with Zuri around.

"I can't say that I know much. It's been eating the critters around here... but that's about all I know. Do we even know what this thing looks like? She looked inquisitively to the both of them. Maybe Zuri would know more, being from around the area.

"Hello Aminah, and it is nice to meet you Keilana." she said bowing her head towards the older girl. She looked more experienced, well her weapon was one that looked more advanced anyways. When Keilana asked about the monster and then Aminah elaborated on the question she shrugged.

"Even I'm not all that sure. I know it has been eating the livestock and pets of people here in Zena. I think it has to be pretty big, I mean to be able to eat the Roati and Capramels whole, that isn't something a small creature would be able to do." She wished that she could help more, but she didn't know much about the monster. When she was in Zena the attacks weren't happening. "Though there are a lot of us, I'm sure if we can find whatever it is we can beat it."

Looking around she noticed that Briella was next to another Alkidike, she had heard they were fierce warriors so she was happy to have them on their side.

Ayo glanced at the small group of women gathered nearby, having overheard one of them ask if the others knew anything about the creature they were seeking. She didn't know any of the women, but the one who had spoken first bore a striking resemblance to the archer she had met, and the wind tribe girl found herself staring, wondering if the two might be related. That wasn't altogether fair of her, though, was it? Assuming they might be siblings just because they both looked as if they were from the leaf tribe...

"It's called a wight..." Ayo offered, taking a step towards the group, hoping to catch their attention, but not come off as intrusive. One of the perks of being a nomad was the stories... all kinds of stories, local lore. Fortunately or not, lately, it seemed as if more and more of those strange legends were coming true. The tales of her childhood were becoming more useful than she had ever imagined.

"According to legend, it used to be an earthling... a member of the ice tribe." Her eyes flickered momentarily, subconsciously, to Zuri, who seemed to be at least partially of that race. "There are different versions of what happened to him. Madness, exile... nobody's really sure. Something that turned him into a beast."

"Things like this happen occasionally... the livestock killings. Every few months, sometimes a few years pass. Anyway, it's always attributed to the wight, but nobody's ever found him. Guess they finally came up with enough evidence to start searching."

She smiled, shrugging. "Anyway, my name's Ayo."
