When Devon reached the field he pointed at one of the boars. "That is a boar. It's not a very hard monster, you could probably defeat it very easily." Devon pulled out his black sword, Obsidian. When he pulled it out he thought about that 3k debt he was in....just for a player made weapon. He sighed and then pointed his sword at the boar. He charged up his sword skill. His sword started to glow a blue-ish color. He lunged at the boar at a lightning fast speed. In a second he was on the other side of the boar.

The boar didn't move for a second, then died, releasing a spray of crystal like objects that quickly disappeared. He got up and sheathed his sword. He looked at the results screen. 5 XP and 4 Col! What? Why are his drops so small? He then though, he was a higher level than these monsters, it was pretty easy to take them out so he barely got anything. He sighed then looked at Luca. "I think you can take it out pretty easily go, see that one over there? Defeat it" He pointed at a boar about 5 yards away from him he smiled a reassuring smile and pushed him to go.

Dawn and Shirogane finally reached their destination. Dawn looked around the area. He seen a couple of players. Hopefully Shirogane and himself wouldn't be bothered. Dawn then turned the other way to see a field full of boars. Dawn's eyes almost popped out of his virtual skull." A slaughter heaven." Dawn got into his fighting stance. But then he stopped. Dawn turned towards Shirogane. "I would for you to have the first kill. If you need help just say it and we will switch out. ....But I doubt that you'll need my help." Dawn then stood straight up. Even though he looked super relaxed his guard was still up. A bit bored he began to twirl his sword around.

Shirogane entered the area known as the Vast Grasslands. He looked around and murmured to himself, "It sure is vast.". He then noticed a large amount of boar up ahead. He tilted his head to the side wondering why there were so many. Probably not much people have come here yet and as such there were still a lot of boars that had not been defeated yet though they did respawn every once and a while. He sighed and then heard what Dawn said and sighed. He really didn't enjoy how he had placed it. He then heard Dawn offer him the first kill. He stared at Dawn for a few seconds and then said, "....So be it.".

Shirogane then began to walk towards a single boar as he pulled out a long sword from its sheathe which was on his back. He then walked over to the boar and then slashed it normally with a diagonal slash. The boar's eyes suddenly turned red and then glared at him before it ran off towards him planning to ram him. Shirogane just sighed at the feeble attempt and simply moved to the side to avoid the charge seeing as though the inertia from its speed and momentum would make it difficult for it to turn. When it ran past him the sword in his hand began to glow red. The boar began to run towards him. Shirogane bent his legs and held his long sword in both hands before he jumped forward and dealt a diagonal slash to the boar as a counterattack. The boar would have a red slash mark on its body before fading into data.

A screen popped up and Shirogane peered at it as it read 12 exp and 10 cor. He sighed and noticed something on the ground. It read boar's meat. He shook his head. Being one who didn't need it he tossed it over to Dawn. He said, ".....I have....no need for this.". He then turned sheathed his sword and looked ahead. He thought that it was now Dawn's turn to fight seeing as though he had the first kill and all.

It took quite sometime, but Luca finally caught up with Devon. Luca had been too budy gazing at the wonderful sights along the way to the Vast Grasslands, but upon arrival, Luca could already see what they were going to be going up against... Boars. Ugh, those godawful pigs that feasted on anything they could get their snouts on, including human flesh! They sure weren't the most pleasant of creatures, and are actually quite a problem in the real world. Luca began to wonder how similar these boars were to those IRL. No matter, they were soon to be nothing be minced meat from Luca's blade.

Luca watched as Devon charged up his sword skill, his black blade emitting a blue glow. Devon then lunged at the boar, his sword slicing right through the boars thick skin. A large red gash was left on the boar, but no blood or guts were seen within the beast, but instead it looked like a red coding grid that sprayed data as if it were blood. An interesting feature, and one that Luca found to be convenient since he was a bit squeamish himself. The boar finally disintegrated into red coding before disappearing, and a small screen popped up in front of Devon, displaying the results of his encounter. "Such small drops from these guys huh? No matter. We are here to practice after all!" Luca said with a cheerful smile. Devon then instructed Luca to defeat a boar that wasn't too far from himself. It seemed that Luca was out of it's target range, or perhaps it was a passive monster? Well, there's only one way to find out.

Luca placed his right hand on the handle of his curved blade, which was sticking out horizontally over his lower back. He then brought up his left hand, and placed it palm first facing the boar, and finally crouched his knees, taking a somewhat low stance. This was something entirely new to Luca, but for some odd reason, this stance just felt right to the new player. Luca edged himself near the boar, stopping every few feet to see how the boar would react. Luca finally came within 5 yards of the boar. Then suddenly Devon pushed Luca towards it, causing the boar to snapped into Luca's direction, letting loose a ferocious squeal. Luca winced, for it truly was an unbearable noise. The boar suddenly began to stomp it's feet, getting ready for a charging attack. Now was time for Luca to react. He read somewhere about using certain skills, you had to let them come to you before activating them. Luca's eyes sharpened as he took a great amount of concentration on the stomping boar. Suddenly, an HP bar appeared over the boar, and certain parts on it's body began to glow yellow. Were these weak points? Luca continued to watch carefully, noting anything that was glowing yellow. The boar suddenly charged toward Luca, causing him to now tighten his grip around his sword, automatically preparing for a defensive tactic.

Luca's sword too began to glow, however his began to glow red in color. He quickly withdrew his sword with his right hand as the boar suddenly was upon him. Though if one noticed, they would see that Luca wasn't holding his blade normally, but more as if it were a dagger? It was on odd way to hold a sword, that was for sure, but Luca was one to make things work. Luca swung his inverted blade towards the boars tusks, which were glowing yellow from Luca's 'Observation' skill. Upon contact, the boar was suddenly repelled, forcing it onto hits hind legs, and revealing it's entire underbelly. The boar was glowing yellow under it's entire body, showing sign of a huge weakness. Luca's arm had been repelled backwards to where it came after having used his 'Parry' skill. Luca charged up again, this time his blade glowing a brilliant blue. He charged forward, his left hand on the pommel of the blade, while his right held it invertedly, and off to the side. "HAAAAAAH!!!" Luca bellowed as his blade passed horizontally through the boars hide, leaving a trail of red coding.

Much like Devon's encounter with his own boar, Luca's target didn't move for a second, before collapsing, and materializing into red coding, and fading away into nothing. A screen popped up displaying Luca's spoils of battle. It wasn't much like he expected, but right now Luca didn't care about the reward, but rather the exhilarating experience he just had using his body to activate skills. "Wowowowow!!! Did you see that Devon!? That was amazing! Being able to observe a enemy to find weak points, parrying attacks so you don't take as much damage, and that EPIC pause after I passed through it with my Reaver skill! God I could do this all day!" Luca said with excitement, punching both of his fists into the air.

Dawn watched, a bit excited, as Shirogane slaughtered the Wild Boar. Precise and accurate strikes. Shirogane was going to be a great asset to Dawn." This game is fun." Dawn then noticed that Shirogane had defeated his Boar. A bit of guard Dawn caught some thrown away Boar's meat." You never know when these can come in handy." Dawn stored the meat away.

"Hm what else is there that we can do?" Dawn then sat down and began to think. His legs where crossed, hands to his chin and wind blowing strands of hair into his eyes. Dawn brushed the strands away as he got up with a new cooked idea." I think we should strike one of the Boar's together to see how we attack as a party. This would be a great way to find out about each other's strengths and weaknesses." Dawn then unsheathed his sword and got into his stance." Any ideas on how we should attack." Dawn said as he focused most of his energy to his legs. He was getting ready to use one of his skills. As Dawn got ready he noticed another player come into the area. He seen as the player joined yet another player and attacked a boar." Ah competition." Dawn said as he refocused on his next target. As he did a wild grin appeared on his face.

Devon watched as Luca slayed the Boar, he looked somewhat scared of it but he looked like he was getting used to it slowly. He smiled as Luca talked about how incredibly amazing it was to fight. "Yes, it really is...epic, they get harder as you go up the floors, and the drops will be less, sadly..anyway check your drops, see how much EXP and Col you got. Devon smiled and gripped his sword. He spotted out another boar, he would fight a couple more, he didn't know how long it would take to level up. He sighed and charged at it.

Easily he sliced through the boar, it was pretty easy. He learned it got easier the more he fought. He sighed and looked back at Luca

Luca could only smile and laugh at this point. Everything seemed a dream, yet he knew that even if this world was artificial, it felt very real. Down to every little detail to help the players get the full experience of the game. Looking down at the grass, Luca could see each and every individual blade of green, each holding their own unique characteristics. To smelling the fresh breeze that forced his hair into his eyes. Luca again tucked his hair back behind his ears, allowing his eyes to gain full visual of the world around him. Luca heard Devon mention something about his drops. "Oh that's right! I forgot." Luca said as he turned back down to the screen that popped in front of him. Twenty two experience points, and no Col. Luca wished he could figure out a way to take a screen shot of this moment. His first kill within this new world. Though he remembered that there was no such feature in SAO. Luca let loose a sigh before closing his loot screen. And turning to face the rest of the boars in the area.

Luca noticed off in the distance two other players that were in the area, both of which having brilliant red hair. The brightness of the sun seemingly made their hair much brighter, and actually kinda hurt Luca's eyes a bit. The two red haired players seemed to be training as well. "Ah competition." Luca said out loud so that Devon may hear. Luca wasn't really one to show off, in fact he is an extremist when it comes to being humble, yet he couldn't shake this feeling that he had to show up these two. But how? How could he perform in such a way that would make even them think 'Wow, this guy's bad a**!' Being only level one already severely limited Luca's capabilities, though Luca was a quick thinker. A wicked smile spread across the young mans face. Then Luca took off in a mad dash, towards the herd of boars, sword held inverted at hand.

Luca remembered from earlier about the boars and their weak points. One was under the boars which was accessible only if you managed to parry the beast upward, forcing it onto it's hind legs to reveal it's under side. However, there was more than just the one spot. Luca distinctly remembered spots that were around their heads, one that was located directly on the spine of the boar, the part of the spine that connected the head with the body. The other two spots were located directly behind it's ears. They were small spots, but each were effective. Luca held that wicked smile on his face as he now sprinted towards the boars, his feet glowing green, initiating his 'Acrobatics' skill. Luca was suddenly upon a group of four boars, each being extremely close to each other, meaning that if Luca was near one, all of them would react. Luca leaped over the first boar, causing it to squeal, and like clockwork, the other three squealed with it. Luca found himself surrounded by the four boars, each stomping their feet as they readied to attack. Suddenly, one boar broke off from it's stomping tangent, and dashed at Luca from behind. Luca heard the squeal of the boar as it charged. Luca quickly spun the sword in his hand, holding it like a normal sword. His feet were still glowing green at this point. The boar was upon Luca about to strike. Luca was much to fast for the boar. Luca stepped to the right, before allowing his left leg to step backwards as if he was passing the boar. His entire body was now spinning towards the boar. Luca's blade, which was in his right hand, came screaming as it tore through the boars flesh. "HAAAH!!!" Luca bellowed as he used his spinning motion to cleave the boar entire right side. Red data particles burst from the wound, and the boar dropped dead before disappearing into nothing.

During Luca's first swing of his sword, the other boars began rushing as well, instantly creating chaos for the young warrior. Wait, warrior?... Yes. Luca was not just a boy in this world, not anymore. He now held the skills necessary to fight, and in this world, he would do just that. Luca's sword arm was now far to his left as he finished his first attack against the first boar. But now a second was behind him yet again, threatening to cause some serious damage. Luca spun the sword yet again, back to it's inverted position, and Luca's feet continued to glow green from his 'Acrobatics' skill. Luca began his swords decent, using gravity as well as his own body quick movements and strength to force the blades decent even faster. His feet spun, allowing the second boar to miss him. Luca's blade met the back of the boars ear, and the blade dived deep into it's cranium. The boar disappeared into red coding before it even collapsed. Luca spun his blade around one more time, twisting his feet in a tight circle as he did so. Luca began spinning in the opposite direction from his last attack, creating more speed and twisting power. His sword was held normally now, as the third boar approached directly in front of Luca. The silver curved blade was already crashing down diagonally across the boars entire face, from left ear to right jaw, before it had even reached Luca. It too disappeared before hitting the ground.

Now came the last boar. It too was behind Luca, and was charging at full speed, threatening to ram the warrior. Luca swung his right leg up, and sprang off with his left, doing a back flip before his blade pierced through the last boars cranium, through it's mouth, and under neath it's jaw. Red coding sprayed all around, and disappeared, leaving Luca down on one knee in an empty patch of grass that once held boars. Luca stood up slowly, swinging his blade out to the right with a quick snap, then spun it around his hand before sheathing the blade with an inverted grip on his sword. The loot menu's popped up, allowing Luca to collect his loot. Luca finally turned to see Devon again, now holding his heart warming smile instead of the wicked one he had during his encounter with the boars. "Do you think that might have gotten their attention?" Luca asked, trying his best not to burst out into laughter.

Shirogane would shake his head at the thought of having to practice working as a team with Dawn. He decided to pass since against boars there was no real need for teamwork. He said, ".....I don't see.....much point.......Maybe....another time.". He noticed how Dawn was already on the verge to attack and sighed when he heard him say something about competition. He peered to the side and saw a light blonde person and a brown haired person with dark skin. He sighed and shook his head. He then noticed the blonde haired one go on the offensive and took out quite a few boars all by himself.

Shirogane shook his head and then opened up his menu again to check his skills. He was curious about the 'fighting spirit' skill said to increase his strength and mobility the more enemies that were targeting him. He smiled as he closed the menu and unsheathed his long sword. He then said to Dawn, ".....I....want to.....test something out.". He then looked around and saw a group of five boars. He smiled and murmured to himself, "Time to test this skill of mine.". He then ran towards the boars at a quick pace and jumped over one of the boars to reach the center of them. He then gave a 360 degrees horizontal slash at the boars. This damaged all five of the boars but also caused them to all target him. The boars turned towards him ready to charge at him. He smiled as a sudden red aura began to surround him. He could feel himself becoming swifter and more powerful. He said, "This feels.....kind of nice.". A boar suddenly charged at him but Shirogane prepared himself and hit the tusks of the boar at the side of it to cause it to run right past him.

At this point all the other four boars began to dash towards him. His feet began to glow red through the red aura that was now surrounding him from the effects of 'Fighting Spirit'. This was his 'Acrobatics' skill taking effect. Feeling much lighter Shirogane immediately did a backflip to jump over the boar that was coming at his rear avoiding the attacks from four directions at the same time and causing the boars to ram into each other with the exception of the fifth one which had attacked first. Seeing a chance Shirogane quickly dashed forward as his long sword glowed red and activating his weapon skill he gave a powerful diagonal slash at the boar which he had jumped over. The overall damage caused it to lose all its health and it dispersed into data.

The rest of the boars turned towards him during this time and yet again dashed towards him with their simpleminded and easily avoidable attack. The first boar that had attacked him joined them now as the four of them all planned to ram him to cause damage. He felt the effect of 'Fighting Spirit' weaken as the number of enemies targeting him lessened. He sighed and prepared himself. From the looks of it only one of the boars should hit him. He prepared himself as the red glow on his feet became much brighter. When they neared he held his sword in both his hands and bent his needs before he kicked off of the ground and performed a front flip. As the boars passed and he touched the ground he spun around and ran after the boars. The boars eventually slowed down and stopped and taking this chance he activated his weapon skill and gave a diagonal slash to each of the boars. All of them then dispersed into data and Shirogane saw the loot screen pop up.

Shirogane would then sigh as he closed the looting screen and then sheathed his blade. He sighed as the red aura vanished and his feet stopped glowing. He then murmured to himself, "Acrobatics and Fighting Spirit work perfectly for someone like me who prefers to dodge a lot.". He then turned to look towards the direction of the two other people and murmured to himself, "I think I may have made this look like a challenge to them.". He sighed and slowly walked towards Dawn who was still preparing his attack. He then said, "Sorry about that. I was curious about this skill of mine.".

"So let's set the world on fire..."

As Dawn heard Shirogane’s answer, he shrugged.” We could always do that another time.” Dawn sighed and as his blood red hair flown into his eyes he could make out the sounds of metal against flesh. The dreadful noise of slaying. Dawn couldn’t help but to look in its direction. He turned his head to see one of the players taking out multiple targets. With swift movements and precisely placed attacks Dawn began to think that this day wasn’t going to be as easy as he expected.

Dawn then heard Shirogane say that he wanted to test something out. He saw Shirogane open his menu to check out what skills he possessed. Dawn then turned to see that Shirogane had charged into his own batch of wild boars. With the sun shining off of Shirogane’s red hair it was hard a bit hard to see Shirogane’s Wild Boar Destruction. Dawn then seen that Shirogane had a red aura surrounding him.” I guess that’s his skill. Looks like his skills make him faster and stronger.” Shirogane’s speed was far past normal. Plus the fact that he appeared to be super light.

As Dawn noticed that Shirogane appeared to be done, Dawn opened up his own menu. He went to his character info and looked at his skills.” Acrobatics and sprint huh...” Dawn then read their description.” So one of these skills allows me to be able to dodge faster and do multiple leaps in the air. The other allows me to sprint faster than normal. This will do.” Dawn then seen that Shirogane was coming back. He closed his menu and listened to what Shirogane had to say.

“It’s okay bro. If they want a challenge I’m shore we can dish one out. But for now it’s my turn.” Dawn brushed his blood red hair out of his eyes. As he never left his stance his feet began to glow different colors. One foot emitting a faint grey glow, signaling that his sprint skill was activated. His other had begun to glow a darkish red, confirming that his acrobatics skill has been awakened. “It’ is time.” As Dawn said that he sprinted off. As he left Shirogane a cloud of dirt and dust had been kicked up. Dawn wasn’t leaving Shirogane. He was just going to a pack of four Wild Boars. Dawn smiled as he leaped into the center of them. They all turned towards him and snorted. This was there territory what was a human doing here. No matter they would just have to teach him a lesson.

As the Boars snorted as raked at the ground one of them began the charge. Dawn could feel the ground beneath him shake. He smiled. When the Boar got close enough Dawn parried to his right side. But he left his mark. After a few seconds you could notice that the Boar had a gash on the side of its neck. A bit pissed off this time the Boar attacked with two more of its friends. Now Dawn had three crazy Boars attacking him. Dawn took a deep breath and deactivated his sprinting skill. He was going to need that for later. As the middle boar was a bit ahead of the two others, Dawn could make out that that Boar was the injured one. He could see the wild gash on its neck. As it got closer Dawn did a back-flip. Although it was a bit much he had got what he wanted. Dawn landed on the back of the middle boar. Even so that the Boar was a bit out of control Dawn got a bit used to riding on its back. Dawn then got a funny idea.” Hey would you like to be my pet.” As Dawn said this it only made the Boar madder. The Boar stopped in its tracks and begun to kick its legs in the air, flailing in every direction. Before being kicked off Dawn stabbed it in the head. He was sent crashing to his bottom.

Dawn got up and went to his sword. Ashe picked it up and got into his stance he said,” One down three to go.” As he said this, the two Boar from before began to charge again. Dawn could feel him-self becoming heavier.” I have to get this over with and quick.” Dawn then did a 180 turn as he did this he was able to hit one of the Boars in the same spot he had seen one of the other players hit it in. As he sliced it, it only took seconds for the Boar to tip over and become nothing but spraying data.” Two down two to go.” Now with both of his Skills deactivated, Dawn had to face to red eyed Wild Boars. The first of them came charging and barely missed Dawn. Dawn was going to attack but then he noticed that the other one was charging at him to. Dawn quickly spun around only inches from getting hit. He then got into his stance and activated his sprint skill once again. Dawn’s feet begun to glow a faint beating grey. Dawn then looked up; he was going to finish this in two quick movements. As the Boars came charging again; Dawn had also charged at them. He had kicked up a lot of dirt causing the Boars to become blind. In the thickness of the dirt Dawn had sent a slice through both of the blinded Boars. All he had to do was picture where they would be after he kicked the dirt up. He then sent another slice through the Boar.

As then dirt fell down you could hear the squealing of the dying Boar’s as the sprayed data. Dawn picked up all of the Boar’s drops and walked back to Shirogane.” That was pretty awesome.” Dawn cracked his knuckles and neck. Somehow he had built enough air in the pockets of his hand and neck to crack them.” So want to keep slaying or go and explore?”

Nareik Yukiboshi!

Nareik walked out into a massive Grassland where he saw some poeple and monsters. "First things first, sword skill," Nareik thought to himself. He already felt the motions with the blade, but he had read something about skills. He opened his menu and looked at what he had. "Reaver," he said softly. He read it was a thrusting movement and you were to pass by on the side of your opponent. Nareik found himself a few prime boars and he drew his blade and readied himself. He focused all his energy into his arm and sword before charging forward and thrusting his basic, curved blade past the side of a boar. As the blade hit, Nareik felt resistance in the thrust, but the momentum and power slowed only a fraction. Nareik focused on the blade slicing the boar, seeing the tear in the animal's hide and coursed over the body, breaking off in small pieces, before it shattered and completely vanished. Nareik nodded and looked for another. Several boars were staring at him, but they did not seem to want to initiate the fight. Then out of the blue, one of red-eyed monsters dashed from Nareik's right. Nareik turned quickly and was bringing himself into a defensive pose when a thought flashed in his head about his skill Delay and he twists in his spot and flipped his sword to slam the hilt of his blade into the side of the boar's head, causing it to very off course and slow. Nareik saw this opening and brought down his blade right at the boar's neck. As soon as the steel sliced through the boar, it also shattered into a million little pieces that shrank into nothing as they flew away. Not even 30 seconds after Nareik defeated the second boar, a third came charging. Nareik again quickly dispatched it with his Reaver skill. "Three down," Nareik noted and charged at another oncoming boar. Nareik played chicken with this boar, and in the normal rules, he'd have lost, but here, as he jumped to the side he sliced up the boar like he was making ham sandwiches. This fighting was exhilarating. Nareik had felt this much joy in some time. The fifth boar was vanquished when Nareik sneaked up behind it and leaped onto it's back, holding tight to it's neck fur as it bounced around, and stabbed his blade into the beast's neck. Nareik fell to the ground with a laugh as the opponent dissolved. Nareik robbed over to his back and opened his menu with the comment, "I could do this all day." He checked his time, still had a few hours to kill, then noticed he his quest tab was blinking. He flicked it gently and found two quests, 'Form the Contract!' and 'Newbie Banquet'. "Cool, cool, form an animal bond and hunt more boars," Nareik said after reading them over and got up. Since he would have to travel back into the town to locate the man with the contracts, he figured to just slay another five boars. He sheathed his sword and looked for more boars, which he found a small group just behind a tree. There were three here and he made sure they that he'd get the 'drop' on them as he climbed the tree and took his sword out and fell from one of the lower branches right onto the back of one, It freaked out as Nareik slid his blade into it's side. Nareik jumped off the first one and tackled the second. He looked like a savage as he killed them, leaping to the third and smashing his hilt into it's head then slicing length wise down it's back. The game seemed to enhance normal human skills, and it was fun. After the animals were beaten, he checked his inventory. he found he had gained 80 col and 3 quest items, 'Frenzied Pig Meat'. "And two more will complete it," Nareik said while he picked up a small pebble as he spotted another boar just feet way. he chucked the pebble hard and nailed it straight in the hind quarters. Nareik threw his blade up in a defensive fashion and collided with the boar. Nareik threw It's head to the side and quickly kicked up his foot and smashed it into the boar's cheek. He then brought his blade down into the back of the boar's neck and watched as the beast toppled and fell over, giving Nareik another pig meat and 10 more col. Nareik kept the sword in his hand as he hunted another blue-furred ham. It took him longer then any of the previous times, but he eventually found one and attacked it from the back with his Reaver skill. Now with 100 more col and a quest to turn in, Nareik headed back to the starter town. [Exit]

Chris -- Devon
Words:323 | Total Words:2718 | Level: 1 | HP:200/200 | Party: Luca | Col:102 | Exp:63

Devon smiled at Luca, it looked like he was getting better at the game. He was impressed by his progress, but he needed to work some more. He had to be the strongest. He was okay with Luca being the second strongest, but he had to be the first. He opened his mouth to speak to Luca "You're doing good, but its gonna take a bit more before you actually level up" He nodded at Luca and then became more serious. He gripped his sword and looked at a boar in the distance. He focused his energy and charged at it.

In a quick second Devon was on the other side of the boar, it shook for a minute, then burst into the crystals, like always. Devon wasn't done yet. He looked at the loot screen for a second. 13 EXP 2 Col. He sighed and looked at another boar. He charged at it and swung his sword upwards at the animal. A big gash was torn in the boars stomach, showing the data grid looking mesh inside, then it disappeared. The loot screen appeared again, showing the loot screen, 10 EXP and 5 Col, then the screen dissapeared. He looked at another boar, charged it and defeated it easily. He moved very quickly and ran from boar to boar, each one was defeated in Devon's flurry of slashes. When he was done Devon just stood silently, with his sword in his left hand. The loot screens showed up. All the EXP and Col together combined made 40 EXP and 36 Col.

Devon closed all of those menus and looked back at Luca, he looked over, a ways away there were two guys with red hair fighting Boars. He sighed and walked over to Luca "Hey Luca, wanna rest for a bit? We've done enough fighting for right now.."He looked at the blonde (Lol he's blonde right?) and waited for a response

More!? Luca swiped his left hand downward, opening up his Player Menu. Selecting the current equipment button to see what his level was. After all, he did just slay five boars in total, he had to have increased in level right? Wrong. "Awwww what!? I just slayed five of these blasted pigs! How come I haven't leveled!?" Luca shouted in disappointment. A long dreary sigh escaped his lips, and he closed his player menu. This game was definitely going to be harder than he thought. Luca watched as Devon drew his sword once more, and charged at yet another boar, easily slicing the creature before it burst into it's red coding. Luca sat down cross legged in the soft green grass. Luca let his chin rest in the palm of his hand, and continued to watch Devon slay the boars with such ferocity. Luca wasn't exactly sure what to make of the guy quite yet. Sure Devon seemed a nice guy, but what made the man tick? Luca began to ponder just what kind of person Devon could possibly be in real life. Most players masked their characters with bits of their own personality into their characters, perhaps Devon did the same. Was he some sort of brute? A football player? Wrestler? The man was quite large. Large enough to squash a small frail player such as himself. Devon continued to hack and slash at boars, each bursting into red coding as he lay waste to the poor creatures. They don't even stand a chance against this guys brute strength~ Luca thought to himself.

Luca slid his left hand down, again opening his Player Menu. "Hmm... Map, Inventory, Current Equipment, Skills, Active Quests, Friends List, Private Message, Guild, Party Invite, Duel Challenge" Luca said to himself as he observed the screen. Luca opened up the inventory, and noticed that he had a 'Beta Leather Cloak' that had yet to be equipped. Upon selecting the Cloak, a second screen popped up, asking "Do you want to equip 'Beat Leather Cloak'?". Luca selected the circle button, indicating yes. A leather cloak materialized out of thin air, and fully appeared with a burst of blue coding. It wrapped around his neck, and lay gently over his shoulders. it was extremely light in weight. "Huh, would you look at that." Luca said again to himself. He closed the player menu, and noticed Devon walking towards him now. Devon suggested taking a break from training. Luca nodded before responding, "Looks like I'm way ahead of ya!" Luca laid back into the long blades of grass that covered the rolling hills of the Vast Grasslands, and gazed up at the sky above. Clouds gently rolled over the brilliant blue sky, and creatures that were unknown to Luca soared high above them. "It's hard to believe that were actually in a game. This world just seems so real. I think if I stayed here too long, I'll start to think that this is a reality! Haha!" Luca said to Devon as he slid his hands up and behind his head, still gazing at the world around them.

So much time and dedication was put into the creation of Aincrad. The environment, the monsters, hell even the people all seemed so real! Luca giggled at the thought of the woman that slammed him on the head with her fan after he accidentally ran into her fruit stand. Her reaction was priceless, and so realistic that it could have been mistaken for a real person. Luca held the smile on his face, and continued to soak in the world of Aincrad.

Yes, it takes 1000 words to level up. But it your level and stat increases won't take effect until you do a Character Update, which will then need to be approved by a mod. Also there has been an update on slaying monsters... Depending on what your fighting you may only slay a certain number per post. Boars are Passive, so we have to initiate battles with them. And we can at most fight two per post.

Light. Strike. Shatter. One blade glowing a luminescent cyan, leaving an ethereal trail of light behind it as the player who held it stood at the end of his Sword Skill animation. The final blow caused the once existent collection of data and polygons, previously held in the shape of a boar, to burst in a shattered glass-like manner, its shards spreading out and dissipating. The sun was glowing rather brilliantly across the fields, and a slight breeze was blowing against his skin. It was rather pleasant, contrasting the serious manner in which he held his expression. Drops of sweat could be seen on the side of his face as heavy, tiring breaths emanated from the boy’s mouth. That was the thirteenth enemy monster that the player named Nox has defeated thus far, the majority being boars, but a few wolves have caught him off guard. It has been a few hours since he had left the Town of Beginnings, and he has not returned since. All that he has done so far was search for monsters to fight and grow accustomed to the system. To learn the use of skills and figure out how to properly fight in the most effective manner. In the hours that he has played, the boy has learned a few things that he has kept in the back of his mind.
The first issue he ran into being that his play style was rather difficult, speaking honestly. In other games, he had no trouble playing quite effectively in any manner he pleased. This was rather different. Being a speed-based character, Nox had focused nearly all of his statistics into the [AGI] Parameter, his agility. The boy with the obsidian mane had thought that this would be okay, because he could evade most enemy assaults and quickly attack and retreat, repeating for successful encounters. He grossly miscalculated though. Rather, his [STR] Parameter, his strength, and [DEF] Parameter, his defense, were so low that it took possibly three or four times longer to defeat these beginning level monsters than the average player that he had observed. This was almost no good, in his mind, and he was seriously starting to doubt his choice of play style. Fighting the plethora of enemies, while still growing accustomed to the system, the boy did not stop, he fought enemies one after the other. He continued to fight and whenever he got caught by an enemy’s attack, his health dropped substantially, due to his overly low [DEF]. Nox’s health had dropped into the yellow zone two times and into the red zone once. He had to take rests out of the enemy-danger area for his health to slowly regenerate back to full, and he took this time to observe other players. They worked far more effectively than he did, most likely because their Stats were far more balanced than his. Not only this, but also because most of the players that he saw had partied up with others. Looking back, maybe the boy made a rather foolish move choosing not to party up with the Blue-haired Hotaru or meeting up with his old acquaintance Psiren. If they were with him, or even if only one of them were with him, they could most likely cover up his lack of [STR] and could easily and effectively kill off more monsters, using the advantage of a Party’s [Switch] ability. His [AGI] and his [Delay] Skill were effective at keeping enemies off of him so far. Using his [Sprint] he could close in on enemies very quickly and strike, and his [Acrobatics] allowed him to evade an enemy’s move so that he could pull back out of danger. It wasn’t like he was that worried with taking on such low-level enemies by himself. He just didn’t want to develop an overconfident attitude. He wanted to fight and minimize the threat of taking any damage at all so that he grew accustomed to being wary in combat. Carefully and steadily, he could take on an enemy solo, but it took too much time. Sometimes he grew impatient, and this is where he learned his second issue that was rather problematic and also another reason why he has been having so much trouble solo.
Nox looked at his one handed blade, his dagger, and shifted it about, watching its reflection slowly move around. This blade of his was all that he would have to fend off the world. It was his offense and defense. His life was held in this dagger. This is why Sword Art Online was so unique. There was no magic or any other form of ranged attacks besides a few select cases. This was a role playing game where all you had for skills was your own mastery of your body and your ability to hold your sword. This was why [Sword Skills] were very important. This was why Nox was so weak right now. He held one [Sword Skill] at the moment, his light one handed dagger skill [Sting]. It allowed him an attack that rapidly closed the distance with the enemy at high speed and dealt much more additional damage than he could on his own. This would have normally been very good… but the speedy trickster found that he ran into problems using his [Sword Skill] which had led to the few times in which his health had dropped low. The Nerve Gear, being a tool in which utilized your brain’s own signals to convey your movements into the game, was integrated with the game’s systems very effectually. It was only necessary to initialize a skill with your movement and the game’s assist system would take over for the rest, effectively taking over control for the rest of the [Sword Skill]. This being a game, though, had its drawbacks, or rather, its balances. Using a [Sword Skill] was far stronger than simply wielding your weapon. It allowed you to strategically plan out when you would find that this skill would be effective, usually when an enemy had an opening or maybe when you needed a sure-fire finishing move. At the end of this attack, however, there would be a short amount of time where the body would lock up, and the player would be unable to move. This was the balance of [Sword Skills]. The momentary frames of lock-up where the user was wide open for a counterattack. This was common in many games where techniques and skills were prevalent. Most commonly and outstandingly, this occurred in fighting games, where the use of skills was to be timed perfectly, and had to be done strategically or else the game could be decided with a devastating return attack or combo. In those games, the moment when the frames of the player left them open was called the recovery time. In this completely immersive game of Sword Art Online, it was commonly called the Skill Delay.
[Sting] was stronger than Nox’s normal light attacks, but his base [STR] was so low that even that wasn’t too entirely damaging, honestly. A Frenzy Boar and even a Wolf could normally be taken down with a single [Sword Skill] from an average player. When Nox faced them, it would have taken two, sometimes even three, he never really knew. This was because of the second factor in his problem. [Sting] very quickly closed the distance between him and the enemy, however, combined with his low [STR], it left him wide open for an attack if he didn’t kill whatever he was in combat with. This was why Nox was the perfect build for disaster. He would close in on the monster, damaging it, but if the [Sword Skill] didn’t kill it, the Skill Delay left him completely exposed. His [DEF] Parameter was also equally minute that when he was counterattacked, the monsters did much more damage than would have been ordinary. All in all, Nox was furious at himself for being so stupid. He chose the least amount of armor and gave himself the least amount of [DEF]. He chose the weakest weapon with the shortest range and gave himself the least amount of [STR]. He put everything into his speed, his [AGI]. What kind of choices were these?
Slightly aggravated, he kicked a large boulder to his right with all the energy he still had left. THUD. It probably would have hurt if it had been the real world, but all that had happened in the game was he dropped 3 HP before a violet hexagonal shape popped up in the spot where the rock was struck: “IMMORTAL OBJECT”. “Great. That’s great. I’m even lesser than a rock.” He propped himself up on top of the stone and sat with his elbows on his thighs and his head in his hands. His golden eyes gazed around and he took in the magnificent scenery before him before closing those lids of his and releasing a heavy sigh. He laughed and silently chided himself for acting like a child. He was in a game. A game that was far beyond any experience he has ever had before and he was limiting the enjoyment he was getting by taking it too seriously. Sure, maybe Nox wouldn’t be a top-player that people would know far and wide as being the strongest around. That was something that he had secretly hoped, but now Nox saw how foolish he was being. He was worrying so much about his Stat Parameters and Skills, planning his moves and strategizing the most effective game plan, when he really should have just been enjoying the game. Since when did he start to play games competitively? There was a vast expanse of lush green landscape before him. That gentle breeze was still blowing silently across the grassland. He took off his hood, letting his hair tousle a bit, and took in a deep breath. He breathed in the sunshine and serenity. He let himself fill up with tranquility before he grew a smile once more. The agile boy took a look at the dagger in his hand once more. He gazed at the reflection on its surface that showed one of the clouds passing by and then sheathed it once more behind his waist on the back of his belt. There were a collection of trees that started forming to the east. And farther ahead, north of his perch on the rock, the grasslands went on for a few more kilometers. There were a collection of players that could still be seen here and there, from his hilltop rock, and it looked like many of them were vigorously training. Back south was the direction of the Town of Beginnings, and a quick thought of returning there crossed his mind before he quickly tossed that out. There was no reason yet to return. Nox still needed to grow stronger, not because it was something that was necessary, but because he still wanted to play the game. The objective of Sword Art Online was to level up, party up, and move up; To ascend all one-hundred floors. Nox wasn’t going to get left behind.
The blades-man hopped off of his perch and began his walk northward, farther across the grasslands. A swipe of his hand opened up the Player Menu as he walked and he scrolled down to review the list of available quests to him. Eh… He slightly stumbled a bit when he realized he missed his chance of collecting a quest to kill Frenzy Boars, but he had enough of those monsters for now. The pair of yellow orbs glanced through the description of quests entitled and , before accepting those two and proceeding to close his menu. Hands reached back to grab the black leather hood, pulling it over the head of the boy who held it. A slight, but sincere smile was held on his face as the dagger-wielder made his way across the grasslands. He was heading towards the First Floor coastline first. There he would arrive at Primero Beach and explore the caves that housed the enemies, Blue Slugs. Even though the quest recommended a party, he wasn’t intimidated by attempting to try it once himself. If he couldn’t do it alone, there was no shame in requesting aid after that, at least he had tried, and foolishly failed, but still… tried. His eyes looked up to the top left corner of his vision, his health was still in the yellow zone, but he figured that by the time he had reached the Primero Beach, as long as he could avoid monster areas, his health would be at full again, or at least, near so. “I can do this. I’m not just an idiot. I’m a fast idiot. I can do this.”

*Note: Not collecting any Col or EXP from "Monsters fought" because none of it was in the post. It was only story-wise.

Chris -- Devon
Words: 383| Total Words:2718 | Level: 1 | HP:200/200 | Party: Luca | Col:102 | Exp:63

Devon heard the words 'I'm ahead of you' and it sounded like a knife. He honestly didn't understand why he was so destined on being the best but he guessed that was what he would be. He could see it now. Newpapers and whatnot saying 'First Player to complete the game....Devon!!!'...Well it may not be just like that but hopefully he would be the first, but when Devon heard Luca say that it was just a kick down. He knew there were people better than him but...Luca? Small little Luca? He wasn't that strong. But perhaps he could amount to something greater later in his life...well in-game life. For a minute he looked at the grass. It looked pretty good. Chris had tried game design once before, it was...REAAALLLY hard, took him a couple of months just to perfect one of his game models, and that was a tree. He was bad at it but he always strived to be better.

He was getting off subject. He thought again about how Luca said he was better. He figured he couldn't focus on becoming the best if Luca was always there being better than him. He sighed and looked at Luca, he opened his mouth to speak. "Yeah, the game looks amazing. I love it honestly, must have taken a million years to make, but anyway, I want to talk to you about something.... I have to disband the party. Ha, this is going to sound like one of those, 'it's not you, it's me' kind of things but it is. I'm sorry, I've decided I need to be a single player as of now. Who knows, maybe we'll meet up later, when we're both higher levels." He spoke with a light smile on his face, even though it was a fake smile, he somewhat looked forward to seeing Luca again later in the game, maybe when they were both stronger. He opened up his menu by moving his hand vertically downwards and looked for the 'leave party button'. Once he found it he smiled at his former party member, then pressed the quit button. Once the party was disbanded he smiled at Luca then turned his back, and walked off to go fight some more monsters
