 Silent was the forest, not a bird chirp nor a wind whistle just the soft ringing of the golden bell strapped to the brown mares tail, every animal was silent as this one passed through the woods, every glance would send fear through the animals if she caught them in her gaze dilated eyes sent shivers down any starborn's spine, perhaps too it was the hideous skull that covered her face that inspired true fear or the blood covering her mane, tail and wings. She moved though the underbrush carefully undisturbed saddlebags across her back filled with plants, herbs in fact.
Despite her rather fearsome appearance this mare was a healer, a creature born of both life and death, she had been thought to be stillborn by her father and buried with the bell around her tail even her mother the undead skeletal mare she had followed to this world grieved until the bell started ringing from underneath the soil needles to say she joined her pale brother Ballon after that in the world of light but she still had no idea how she had come to be in the last world and now in this one.
Only her mother would know she was certain, if she could ever find her and perhaps though she dreaded it her two half sisters who would certainly be with Morrigan if she called them no world in any universe deserved those two shadow creatures...
Ah
The heart shaped leaf she had been looking for, Kava but it was not the leaf she was looking for but the roots, she often found them useful when having to sedate more difficult stars to allow her to help them, Valdis gaze fell the her surroundings, there was no one as usual, the mare began digging carefully around the plant gently pulling from time to time after the soil was loosened till finally the plant as free of the earths grip...

 Life was hard. It was simple as that. One minute you had a family and a mother you worked hard to see how proud she was of you. And then it's all gone. Though, if you asked Aeronwy, she'd tell you that most of her family could break their wings and jump from a cliff. She hated her sisters, Rhovanion the most. Rhiannon was the baby and Aeronwy like to torment the brat. Rhovanion was her rival for mother's favoritism. A never ending war, or so it seemed.
Aeronwy was alone now. Lost in a world it seemed she hardly knew now. Her thoughts where a mess, knotted and coiled tightly in her mind. She had become angry in her loneliness and confusion. She had no idea how she ended up alone. It was like she woke up one day and there was no one. Her goals lay in pieces at her feet. Where was her purpose now?
So here she was, trudging ( yes, trudging ) through the forest. She couldn't tell you how she got here. Aeronwy has been wandering aimlessly. Taking out her pain, her confusion, her loneliness, her anger, on anything that crossed her path. And it was about then that she stumbled upon another star. Her gaze and mind sluggishly moved into focus on the star in front of her.
It was female and digging. Aeronwy growled low in her throat and arched her neck. Her wings flared out to make her look bigger ( for she was rather petite ). "Hello," she practically hissed at the other star, "Why the...digging?" She twitched the end of her tail like an angry cat.

Oh Someone was coming. The mare shifted her dilated eyes in the direction of the approaching presence before going back to taking care of the root. The mare didn't even bother looking up at the approaching star, nor did she respond when a threatening hello with a demand on her task was asked for. Valdis gently shook the soil away from the root.
Placing the root gently on the ground Valdis took her time before raising her head "A root," she answered finally looking at the other mare. Valdis having suppressed most of her feelings couldn't possibly five Aeronwy the reaction she knew the mare was looking for, a creature weaker than herself Valdis supposed. She wondered what the strange hybrid was looking for, taking note of both feline tail, fangs and solara wings.
Valdis then noticed another set of leaves nearby gently picking up the root she proceeded to the next plant and started Digging again without another word. The only sound was the bell on her tail as she moved.
Maybe this star was just having a bad day? those with turbulent emotions did that right?

Aeronwy lowered her head and pulled her wings in tight against her body. She sensed a detachment of sorts coming from this strange mare before her and moved along warily. Aeronwy watched as the mare removed a root from the ground and went on to extract yet another one. The leaves looked the same and so must be the same plant. What's so special about this plant's roots, she wondered to herself. Suddenly her head snaked out and she took a closer look, her hoof coming out and digging at the earth too so she could see better. Aeronwy snorted at the brown mare in anxiety of not know what this root was or for. It's sad that at this point in her life that something like a root could upset her. She backed up quickly, bobbed her head a couple times and snorted again. Her eyes where round and showed fright.
She pranced around a bit and cow hopped. The brown mare showed little reaction and the damn plant...what was with it!? She screamed finally and slammed her hooves down. "What is it?!" she finally asked. How pathetic, her mother would probably have said, getting all worked up over a little plant. But that was the problem, Aeronwy was broken inside and anything could send her over. She tossed her head to get rid of the sound of her mother's disdainful voice. Aeronwy failed her mother and now she was gone. Everyone was gone. She snorted as her body shook from trying to contain her anxiety.

Valdis simply watched her in the anxiety. It was not a feeling Valdis was familiar with. There weren't many feelings Valdis was familiar with for that matter. Valdis only observed wondering what it felt like until Aeronwy demanded an answer "A plant," Valdis replied taking care to pull out the second plant. Valdis gently cleaned more of the dirt off the roots, still not answering the mare completely. Was that not what is was? Just a plant? the mare still seemed to be dancing around her
"Kava." Valdis finally spoke in her even voice "It's called Kava." Valdis gently picked up the plant by the stem after opening the packs strapped to her back. Just as gently she started putting the plants into her bags. her tail swished gently every so often, it was comforting to hear the bell. It was a sound that told her she was alive.
"It's a sedative and anesthetic." Now having what she needed started away from the bright purple mare. Valdis paused though for a moment. Dilated eyes gazed through the wood surrounding. Which way had she come? Oh right that way. And she began off again, Oh but she had almost forgot "Thank you for your company." she said in an extremely monotone voice. She'd always had trouble with expressions when it came to talking to other starborn.

Nothing made sense but this strange creature in front of her gave such direct, simple and monotone answers. Her voice never went up or down, her body language was as dead as her voice. She'd use the terms calm, cool and collected but she doubt that was it. Then there was the damnable bell on her tell, she'd twitch her tail and it would jingle. Aeronwy's tail was now fluffy and huge compared to what it really looked like. Her agitation and anxiety was now more apparent.
The plant..Kava? So it was...medicine. Her eyes grew rounder again and she eyed it. Aeronwy wondered if it would put her out of her misery, if even for a little bit. But then the next thing she knew...the brown mare was vanishing among the trees. Aeronwy's head shot up, making her suddenly dizzy, but she shook it off and dove into the bushes in search of the brown mare. She whinnied high and shrilly.

The other mare's tail had gone puffy when Valdis had glanced back. Before vanishing into the woods with ease. It was helpful when you were colored like a deer. However something stopped her. Valdis's ears flicked backward, the purple mare was still following her or trying to. The purple mare seemed panicked. The jingle of her bell echoed through the trees. Valdis breathed, flicking the bell on her tail once more.
Turning the mare went back "I am here," she called to the purple mare. The purple mare was sick, though not of body. She knew many cures for ills of the body but of the mind she was often at a loss. She was dead in many ways herself she could hardly relate so such emotional problems that must plague this mare. But her father would say it would be wrong to leave someone who needed her alone. Mother would just laugh and watch.
Valdis was something in between. "Follow me." she said turning away again and heading back into the woods this time however she slowed down to a pace where the other mare could follow.

Aeronwy's ears perked as she heard the bell and the voice of the brown mare calling to her. Aeronwy's sides heaved as she moved towards the sound, her flakes twitched. She was stalking, her eyes large and luminous in the gloom. That mare had something she wanted now, Aeronwy was not well versed in plants and wouldn't be able to find it on her own, so, she'd take it. She could sense she was catching up, there was signs around her. And then, there she was, moving through the trees and undergrowth.
Aeronwy moved around the trees, keeping the mare in sight. She got closer and closer before she rushed the brown mare and made a grab at the bag. She growled fiercely, her ears pinned back, her tail puffed up and twitching.

Valdis only let a small sigh escape her. She needed that, but her reaction was somewhat still lacking. The mare wanted that root now did she? It was pretty hard to come by up here. "Give that back." she spoke evenly. Though Valdis was still a trained fighter, she had done so for her mother despite preferring herbology. She was attuned to death which made being shamanistic like a second nature to her.
"If you desire the root," terrifying dilated eyes fell upon the mare. "You must prepare it." She didnt' suppose the mare knew how to prepare the root. "You will not get the desired affect." She held up her wings and motioned for the mare to put the bag back on her flank. The threatening posture of the purple mare did little to phase her. Happened when you lived with two hellspawn reaper haunting sisters you had to keep in line and had a skeleton for a mother.
"I will prepare you some." she told the mare "Just calm down." she did her best to be soothing from what she remembered of her father. It felt strange trying to comfort another creature.

Aeronwy stilled and released the bag. What was she even doing? So much in life has caused her pain but she kept taking it out on others. Aeronwy had a small tremor coursing through her, the mare and her disconnection to everything but finding this root caused a strange distress in Aeronwy that she just couldn't wrap her mind around. So she forced herself to relax, if not just a little bit.
How long had she been out in this forest alone anyway? She glanced around her. She didn't like the idea of being alone anymore. She was just a scared little foal in the end, despite being an adult now. She blew air out her nose softly and looked back at the brown mare. Tilting her head to the side, Aeronwy asked a simple question, "What is your name?"
