There were plenty of better things to do than fighting youma.
For Sailor Deneb, these things usually involved a certain number of things, usually pertaining back to cosplay or fandom or even just yelling at the mailman because her package was late to arrive. The senshi of bubbles wasn't particularly fond of patrolling or battling if there wasn't something to be gained from it, and today, there hadn't exactly been an opportunity for just that.
As it was, it was getting late, and Deneb wanted to wrap things up for the day... well, evening, as she had other things to attend to. Of course, as things would have it, a stubborn youma held her up, seeming particularly keen on holding onto life as it was. This was quickly trying her patience, as Sailor Deneb was not known to be a fairly patient person, as a senshi or during her regular schoolgirl life, and she was near the end of her rope.
"Why don't you just give up and die?" Deneb growled. This was really not going to look good for her self image if someone else happened to come by to find her still fighting this thing.

Eternal Sailor Chaonis was not the most dedicated, as far as schedules went. He followed his own time line, by his own rules, and did not live up to anyone else's standard. He did things his way, because it meant never letting anyone down. No one could count on him, anyway, after all.
Yet he still endeavored to help his fellow senshi, in the ways he knew how. Make them fight, make them learn. He was a senshi of strength and risk, and he knew that the only way to really survive was to be stronger than every opponent that got thrown at them. Some senshi didn't believe that, but he thought they were dumb for it.
And they'd get themselves killed thinking that way.
"You're obviously not hitting it hard enough," Chaonis said, hearing the senshi complaining at her youma target. He was not hiding, per se, because he had such a strong aura that it was not really possible for him to hide it from other powered beings.
He grinned a lopsided grin and leaned on a nearby wall, not offering help. It was time to make his training a bit more hands on.

If there was one thing Deneb didn't want, it was an audience. If there was one thing she was getting anyway, it was... an audience. "I don't believe I asked for your opinion," Deneb snapped, wishing for nothing more than for Chaonis to mosey on out of there. Becoming a magical girl was supposed to be one of the greatest things to happen to her, and she didn't need witty commentary from the peanut gallery. With another round of bubbles (honestly, why couldn't she have been a senshi of something more powerful?), Deneb finished off the youma, before turning to face Chaonis, glaring. If only looks could really kill. "Well?" she demanded, displeased that he was still there, "You can leave now, you know- I'm perfectly capable of handling things on my own." Sailor Deneb was not destined to be a team player.

Chaonis grinned and laughed at her huffing at him, arms folded over his chest as he regarded her efforts with a cocked eyebrow and his lopsided grin. He was all confidence and liquid steel nerves, knowing nothing close to compassion or concern at the moment. He liked the fact that she looked annoyed by his being there.
He didn't leave.
"Oh, yeah," he said, with a theatrical nod, "you clearly have things well in hand with your bubbles. That youma looked terrified. Though, you'd think bubbles would be more effective against youma, since they're just soap and youma are dust."
He laughed, "you cleaned his clock."
He was not one for stupid puns, but he couldn't help himself there. He grinned at her, tilting his head to the other side now.
"So, what. Too afraid of a little dust to use your fists, or just too girly?"

He still wasn't going away. Very quickly, Chaonis was getting on her nerves more and more, and listening to him mock the way she had fought that youma was gradually causing her to lose her composure, and march right on over to smack that grin off his face. Sailor Deneb was a lady, and ladies don't start fights. "I don't see how this is any of your business," she retorted, on the defense, "Isn't the point of having magic to use it? I'm simply fighting the way any magical girl would." Learning how to beat up youma never was a part of her pageant training as a child, anyway. Certainly, it wasn't a skill that would have won her any crowns or scholarships, at least. It had nothing to do with Deneb having no skills in fighting whatsoever; she was simply doing what all the 'mahou shoujo' did in the fandoms she followed.

The eternal senshi of Danger basically existed to piss people off. He made it his art. Some people studied theatre, some studied music. Some could paint and some could dance. Chaonis could piss anyone off, and enjoyed it every time.
Of course, he was the only person who did, but that was beyond the point. Art was personal, after all: it didn't have to be for anyone else.
Also it was hilarious.
"I guess magical girls are just worse at this than magical boys, eh? And it's my business because I, despite how much you might be asking for it, don't want to see you getting eaten by one of those things. The last thing we need is to lose more numbers to stupid s**t like youma. I want to make sure you know what you're doing. And if you don't, then hell. Maybe someone should show you how it's done."

Was he baiting her? He was totally trying to provoke her into fighting, she was sure now. Deneb thought highly enough of herself and her confidence in her strengths, Chaonis wasn't going away anytime soon, it looked like, and the sooner she could be done with this, the better. Any remaining traces of trying to remain calm and poised were gone, and the senshi of bubbles frowned, hands on her hips. "Alright, then," she began, "If you think you know all that there is to how to fight, then go ahead. Show me." From the tone of her voice, though, Deneb didn't believe he could.

Chaonis laughed.
"I could clean the pavement with you. Or messy it, as the case may be. Are you sure you wanna try with me? Your fuku is awfully pretty, I'd hate to mess it up." He grinned at her teasingly, obviously not caring much at all about her outfit. His own was easy: it was plastic armor, built for taking hits. He didn't have to worry about it at all.
plus, he felt it looked pretty awesome.
Made him look tough.
He cracked his knuckles, watching her keenly. "Bring it on then. I'll even give you first swing. And I promise, I won't go all out. I'll give you a fair enough chance. I mean, you'll still get your butt kicked, but I'll make sure you have some pride left at the end of it."
