Me’urra was mad. Noct knew it judging from the way he walked and how he wasn’t looking at her. Normally when he came to visit he was calm and cheerful. This time he was angry and annoyed. She thought about the things she could have done to earn his ire. Nothing sprang to mind save the little fact she was keeping his son and he didn’t know it. Oh he knew that she was raising a foal all right and he knew it had been taken from another Azrein but Me’urra really had no idea who and Noct had made certain to keep the boy away whenever Me’urra was due to see her. If Me'urra did want the boy she had no disire to distress him further. His training with Avalanche was apparently upsetting enough.

Cardinal was always pushing him and tormenting him. One of these days Me’urra was going to have his revenge against the winged fool. Perhaps he should speak to his brother on the matter. Wouldn’t it be nice to watch Cardinal in pain on the ground writhing and have no idea that Me’urra had been behind the attack? Me’urra could just see himself walking up to the dying Azrein and while the red male was taking his last breaths he would whisper so softly that the cause of his ruin was none other than Me’urra. Oh what a face Cardinal would make then. Yes it was the kind of thing his mother would think of and a part of Me'urra hated himself for that, but how could he not enjoy the thought of such suffering due to an elegant plot?

He’d wear himself down eventually and then start thinking things through and start talking. Then he’d go quite think more and finding a solution would go back to the cheery mask he wore around her. So used to the routine that Noct didn’t even bother trying to sooth Me’urra. Maybe once he started to talk she could find a solution and shut him up faster. It was her only hope when he was like this. It couldn’t be about her, but she had no idea what it was about. Waiting was annoyed but so would trying to coax the issue out sooner.

Taking a deep breath that was much needed Me’urra turned his thoughts from murdering Cardinal. He had not come here to deal with that mess now. He had come to get away from his training and away from that cretin. Smiling at the object of his visit he apologized. “Sorry I am dealing with a feather brained b****** where I train and while I try not to let him get to me I fear I may need at thicker coat to ignore the fool. Personally I’d like to end him, but that’s just my personal preference. How have you been my mute little shadow?”

He really did talk too much, but that was just the way he was. “Fine. Why not kill the pest?” It seemed a logical thing to her. If someone was making her life miserable she would end them. Much the same way if the colt she was raising became too much she would just let it go. Of course Me’urra’s child was not a pain in any way. Annoying and far to wild but that was the way she understood young to be so she made allowances for it. She never lied to the little one and told him where he had come from and why she kept him within reason of course. He was young and didn't need the details to badly. He accepted. Me’urra son was very logical when he wanted to be. Pity both Me'urra and the boy could get so emotional over silly little things.

This was why he loved Noct, or at least loved her enough to keep coming back to see her. She was so direct and so honest. She didn’t say much but when she did speak it was what was needed. “I can’t just kill him outright at this point in time since he is a strong member of the herd and killing him off now might leave a weak spot for and even worse monster or might mean a lack of strength for a mission later on. As much of a pain as the bird is he is loyal and will do as Avalanche instructs him. I train under Avalance and I doubt he would take kindly to me killing off members of their herd even if they do deserve it. “ Avalanche certainly had no love of Cardinal that Me'urra knew of, but the older male knew of Cardinal's usefulness, that spoke volumes to Me'urra.

So the other party was hated and couldn’t just be killed. What a pain. “Deal or ignore.” It was a simple solution and she doubted Me’urra would be able to follow it. He was far too involved in such things. It would be so much easier to give up the training and walk away. Me’urra would never do that though, because it would mean giving up the ability to one day have power and he was to ambitious for that. It was odd but in that moment Noct thought of Sharsa and was disturbed. Me'urra's mother was not Nocturne's favorite mare in the world and Me'urra showing characteristics of her was unsettling.

“If only it were really that simple. I deal with the problem and I cause other issues, I ignore and the abuse continues until I snap. Neither option is particularly lovely. What I can do is endure and rise to a spot where he can’t touch me. That would be the easiest way to handle things.” His long tail twitched in annoyance. Shaking his head he tried to figure out how to deal with things. “I need more support in the herd. I need to get others to join me.”

“What about using one of your children?” The question came out calmly as though she were asking about something as paltry as the weather. The look of shock on Me’urra’s face was comical, but of course Noct didn’t laugh. He seemed to be thinking of something strange since he looked like he was trying to ask something. She stood by while he shook his head and seemed to be trying to compose himself.

Children? When did Nocturne become pregnant? The only other mare he had been with was that one from up north and he doubted anything came of that. “Are you certain?” He was excited, nervous and baffled all at the same time. “I know you took up raising some mare’s colt, was it practice? He eyed her smooth sides expectantly. She certainly didn’t look heavy with foal. She was staring at him blankly. Why was she so hard to read?

“Am I certain of what?” She took the time to elaborate since it was clear Me’urra was missing something. “The foal I raise. Sauron. He is yours. Use him?” She watched Me’urra go slack in the face. He blinked a few times before snorting and pawing the ground. He was shaking his head and asking more senseless questions. Really now it seemed half of what he did was ask questions. Sighing she let him get his thoughts together again.

Sauron that was the colt’s name? Me’urra had never even seen the little spawn much less given any real thought to its name or well being. Sauron right? Sauron was his? He shook his head again. It seemed this conversation had him doing that a lot. His tail flopped up and down once as his ears swiveled. He thought back over the conversations he had had about the colt in Noct’s care. “You said before that this young one was one you had taken from a mare who had others to care for. You wanted him and so you kept him close.” He watched as Noct nodded. “You were raising him and teaching him. Now you tell me he is mine?” Again she nodded. “Why did you never once tell me any of this before? HE IS MY SON! DOES EVEN KNOW OF ME?”

“He knows, I raise him until you have need or want of him.” She batted her eyes calmly at Me’urra’s clear agitation and rising anger. “Had you not wanted him he would have just grown up and left. It is of little concern. “It was at this point Me’urra began shouting at her. He called her a slew of names and accused her of keeping secrets from him. “You never asked if he was yours. If you met him now you have nothing to say.” With that Me’urra stopped dead and just starred at her for a long time before he started to laugh. It was a disturbed laugh that lasted a long time until Me'urra looked like he started to wear himself out. He was saying that it was just like her. Then he was rubbing her head far too much. Noct stepped back and snorted. “Too much.” He was smiling at her but he was angry, and happy. Others were so complicated.

Insane that was what this mare made him. She was right of course. He had nothing he could say because he had no idea he had a little one until just now. Noct was the only one who could make him mad enough at her to yell at her. Of course he would never hurt her nor could he ever truly stay mad at her. She was just how she was, and he of all others knew her better than any others. Despite making him mad enough to yell she never bore him a grudge if he raised his voice. Patient and quite despite the yelling or ranting he did. He had never even known that he had a foal and now he learned that Noct had found out for him and had even gone so far as to steal one of his children for him just in case he ‘ever wanted it’ She was insane and yet brilliant. “I want him. Bring him to me some day. I will have something worth saying.” He watched her nod with a small smile on her face. Now he had to think. What could he say to his son.
