Melvin needed something to entertain his time, not to mention essentials like his toothbrush, clothes, and some decent shampoo. While Cass had offered to go into his room to get a few things, he just wasn't comfortable letting her in. There were only a few people who he could even think about asking, and even then he was hesitant to do so. He locked his room for a reason.
Thinking about his short list of people, he sent off a message to Rin. Text to Rin Stuck in the Infirmary. Can you pick up a few things from my room?

Rin read the text with a baffled disbelieving stare. They really must have given him the good s**t. She shrugged her shoulders and fired off a text in reply. Not about to argue.
Text to Melvin sure what do you want and how do i get in

He frowned, knowing that he was going this far. He just really needed fresh clothes, distraction, and to brush his damn teeth. It had to be done. He sent a rather long text with the details explaining exactly what he needed and where everything was located. There would be no need for wandering about, and he could explain exactly where everything was. He hoped she wouldn't get lose in such a well organized room though. Seeing as she was one of the few people ever to go in his room, having dragged him there after Jenga, he guessed it wasn't such a bad thing for her to go again. At least she wouldn't trail in mud.
He sent off the message. Text to Rin Keycode is 24591. Should pop open. I have a duffel bag by my dresser. Just throw some outfits in there. Shirts that button up the front please. I should have some books to read on my desk if you can bring those too. Toothbrush and shampoo are with my shower stuff in the bag by the desk. My Infirmary room is 27B. Thanks!

Rin gave the text a suspicious look but still.. obeyed, wandering the halls until she reached Melvin's dorm room door. Pausing to look for a place to put in numbers. Eventually finding one she smirked at it, "fancy", then put in the code. Barging in to set right to work seeking out what he'd requested.
First, she rather obediently located the duffel by the dresser and began digging through every last dresser drawer looking for all manner of clothing. Anything else? Well, tha'd just be a bonus discovery, really.

Melvin's clothes were neatly organized and folded. The jeans, slacks, and sweatpants were on the bottom drawer. Along with a slew of sweaters, there were undershirts that mainly consisted of button up shirts of plain, single colors and a few polos. There were a few plain, white t-shirts of a brilliant white as well. Then, folded neatly in a pile, were several heavy-metal t-shirts depicting flaming demon skulls and skeletons with axe guitars with names like Chill Corpse and Rancid Hell Gut.
It also seemed like Melvin had a mix of boxers and boxer briefs.

Rin grabbed various things from Melvin's drawers and stuffed them all in his duffel bag with care. A sweater here, a t-shirt with strange prints on them there, and a few - woohoo, you go Melvin - a few of these boxers as well~ They all found their way in his duffel.
Rin grabbed the duffel off the floor and moved over to sit it on the foot of his bed to re-check his text for what else. Oops, he wanted mostly front buttoning things? Woops, too late now. She looked around for his bookshelf next and began to investigate the available things for reading. Must find something actually entertaining. Too stuffy and he might get bored to death proper.

Entertaining for Rin probably wasn't what was entertaining for Melvin. Seeing as he had yet to leave the island, the books on his shelf were very limited. Most were from the library. Two were sci-fi books, dog-eared and over-read by the many hunters with nothing better to do on the island, along with three research books. The three had the titles Scary Wheres: Geography of Mythological Places, Halloween Meteorology: Fear and Weather, and Fear I Hold Dear: A Mist's Trek through Portals.
Aside from that was 1 book lacking a title all together. A brown, leather-bound photo album, the word "Memories" written in slight-chipped gold italics.

It may not have been, but Rin still grabbed the sci fi books and stacked them in the duffel, no question. Going down the line until she happened upon the worn leather-bound book. It was big and heavy so she had to carefully inch it out with her fingertips before hauling the whole thing clear. Didn't look like a science book. A little peek couldn't hurt. Maybe it would but it was too late, the whole thing was already opened and being carefully paged through.

The pages started at the early years. Barely one page of a plump faced baby with peace fuzz hair chewing on bright, plastic keys. A older, little girl looking over him, her hair curly and brilliant blonde. His parents in another shot holding the child. Pages moved to holidays, showing the sister and younger brother together. A Easter excited over rabbits. A birthday with friends. Missing tooth. A local fair. Haystack ride during Halloween, his sister beside him. Another baby in the picture. Another boy. Baseball game with another male relative. Out of focus shots of Thanksgiving and other holidays. Unwrapping Christmas presents. Fishing. Melvin now a young boy in t-shirts and shorts holding up a toad, playing outdoors. Street hockey, basketball, and plenty of swimming. The pages turned, the outdoor sports dropping all together to that of a teenager, dressed in hoodies and scarce of smiles. Science fairs. More holidays. Less activities. Older now, with his siblings, the words "Sophie, Melvin, Chris" written in marker on the bottom of the photo, on a small boat on the water. Another at a restaurant. The last pages involved friends near his age, in their twenties, drinking, attending classes, and in the library and cafeteria.
The rest of the pages were blank. Empty. Room for more but nothing to fill.

Melvin was such a cute little baby.
Shhh...
Rin kept paging through the album with utmost care.
Man, he did a lot of things growing up.
No no... I just. I don't understand why he doesn't share the memories of this stuff.
It's a photo album, Byr. It's for reminiscing, not to make up for no memory of things.
Rin heaved an irritable sigh as she continued on and discovered his possible siblings and their names. At which she double-took. They looked a little too similar and varied in ages to just be friends.
Man, he had a family and s**t.
Then the pictures of friends.
Seriously, why the ******** did he ever choose Deus? He looks so... well-adjusted.
Because I wasn't.
Rin clipped the album shut and slid it back on the shelf. Checking her texts again - right he wanted toiletries too. She sulked over to his desk and began snooping a bit there too.
More books here? Maybe there's one on Aliens.

There was another sci-fi book on his desk depicting a man in a retro space suit holding out a space gun and shooting at some monstrous beast crawling out of a red canyon. The other two books were less impressive. One was a plain black book and another was a worn notebook.
The toiletries were at the foot of the desk, next to a white bucket that had cleaning supplies inside.

Rin eyed the book with the man on the cover, not quite what she had hoped for. So that left her attention open to notice the other two books. Her brow slightly arched as she grabbed the plain black book first and cracked it open. Her first suspicion was porn.

The book consisted of information Melvin had learned in Deus and other information he read and felt was vital to keep notes on. However, the main bulk of the pages that were filled was a list of names neatly organized and leaving space between each person to add too. Most people had one page each dedicated just for them.
It started with the first person he met. Hunters:
Rin Alder: ■ Life ■ Weapon's name is ??? ■ Woke me from my pod ■ Has a hard time telling gender ■ Draws dicks on people when asleep ■ Not a porn star ■ Was in an asylum before coming to Deus ■ Bad Father ■ Coffee Drinker ■ Hasn't gotten out much in life ............- Called me "Woody"............+ Coffee Drinker............+ Shares Information............+ Chatty............+++++++ LIKES CHESTBURSTERS!............- Touchy (Be Careful)
"Rep": ■ Sun ■ Weapon name Tracey ■ Hates being called William ■ Associates Touching on same level with Kissing ■ Very sensitive about weapon ■ Fears Rejection ■ Gay - Has boyfriendSSSS ■ Hates Women (Danger to Prego Women) ■ Mother Dead (or was that an illusion talk?) ■ Hates Marcus ■ Has pet minipet called Massacre (pathetic bull) ■ Used to swim in the ocean ■ Runs when afraid ............- Easy to Manage............- Jock Mentality............- Short Fuse............- Sudden Mood Swings............ + Chatty/Informative............+ Kicked Otto's a**............- Contradicts himself a lot ............- Swims in the ocean nude/Cliff diving(Would be better in shower than the ocean)............- 2 Boyfriends............- Loose Lips/Can't be trusted with secrets............- Gut Feelings - Be Careful............- Has harmed other hunters on countless occasions From there the list continued on with other people on the island. Each had basic information, and then Minuses and Pluses under that.

As soon as Rin saw her name she smiled. That smile's life was exactly .05 seconds. Replaced with irritation.
"I'm not touchy!" What the ******** did that even mean and why was it in red?! And why the hell did he write that her father was bad? He wasn't bad. He was just overwhelmed. Okay, this was annoying. Why the hell would he write this kind of bullshit about people?
She slapped the book down and reached for the notebook that was beside it. b*****d thinks he can just store information on the rest of us to judge us by and not share a scrap of himself? S'gotta 'nother thing coming.

The book was larger than the small, black book, and more filled than the other. The pages were full, worn, and wrinkled from use.
Dear Sophie....
It was a letter.
I haven't been here long, barely a few days, but I keep having to write the date on my lab work. Two years. Nothing for me, but everything to you. I guess it's long since past to worry about this sort of thing. I'm dead now, right? I have to wonder how they did it. It was told I wouldn't be able to come back. I even wrote a letter saying I was going. I hope it helped everyone, but that depends. Did they make me die horribly in some fire or just say I was some mangled body in the woods? Did I drown and did you buy it when we spent so long as children in the water? Do you still wonder or have you moved on?
I'm selfish that I still want you to think about me, but forgetting is probably for the best. Hopefully Chris didn't shut down and didn't talk to you. I can't talk to you to help anymore. I can't talk to you to help me. I wish we could sit on the back porch while you smoked and just talk - though you should quit.
Hopefully mom and dad are okay. Mom always worried. Always. I wanted her to stop and not blame herself. Dad's heart never was good either. I don't want anyone ACTUALLY dying, but I wouldn't know about that. I won't ever know about that. I don't know anything. Two years. Two years and I know nothing about everyone now.
I miss you. I miss you so badly. I just want to talk to you and know you're not bitter. That you stayed the same despite it all.
Things don't seem to be going well here. Maybe I will die and it won't be a lie anymore.
Talk to you again.
The page ended.
