Have you guys ever used the iPhone/Android app, Grindr?
I've had it for a few months now. All the messages I have received are guys wanting to hook up.
I was hoping the app would find me some more gay friends but the gays around here only use it for hook ups.
What are your experiences with grindr?

Oh goodness.
Ashamed to say, I do have a Grindr and for whatever reason I hate it but maintain using it.
I've only tried the whole hookup deal once, not my thing and totally disgusting to be honest.
Honestly I was looking to meet cool chill guys on there, and I've met a few, but for the most part it's a bunch of slutty men looking to get in the pants of other slutty men.
I really do hate it but I hold onto because I give people the benefit of the doubt and hope that I'll find at least a few decent people to hangout with.

I've learned that in using apps like Grindr and Scruff, you get what you put into it. If you make clear intentions of making friends, you'll find friends. Even with the guys who are looking for hookups. If hanging out is what you want, ask guys if they want to hang out during the day, if they want to go dancing or bar hopping, or whatever else doesn't put you in a situation where you are alone with them in yours or their apartment and the hookup is possible.
I use these apps to make art. Fortunately it's easy to find men who are a little self absorbed on apps like Grindr and Scruff, so finding men willing to pose for photographs is easy in my case. I actually find the majority of my male models on those apps.

Just because a guy is a slut or is horny doesn't mean he isn't a decent person who doesn't like finding new friends. You get back what you put into it, and if you truly give people the benefit of the doubt you wouldn't have problems finding lots of new friends using Grindr.

What are your experiences with grindr? Use the app everyone once and a while. I have mostly had just legitimate conversations on there. I stayed up till two in the morning talking to this one dude about American Literature and starwars. You get what you put in it. Lots of dudes are on there looking for hook ups but plenty on there are only looking for friends its just a matter of filtering through the crap and finding the good.

And I have made friends with guys who randomly send me their c**k pictures. They're perfectly decent to me. The last thing I do is judge and I show everyone kindness.
