Lightning Pawn tread carefully through the forest, a spring in his step. Despite the light rain sneaking through the trees, he didn't mind the task of gathering food. It wasn't a hard job, and Ithil was somewhere nearby, he knew; she wouldn't let him go off on his own with the possibility of a storm moving in. It wasn't long before he found some berries that were safe to eat. He was about to pick some when something moved in his peripherals. The Gladier lifted his head, fixing on the wet, shivering, orange-and-green mass that was cowering underneath a large leaf on the plant behind him. As he approached, he watched the other Gladier's eyes go wide as he scooted away. "... I'm not going to hurt you," he reassured the scared creature as gently as he could. "What's your name?" The other didn't shrink away any further, but he didn't come out. "... Pawn," he replied, his voice not much more than a scratchy squeak. "Pawn #4."Lightning's heart froze. No. That wasn't... possible... Shaking out of his daze, he inspected the cowering Gladier. "... Copper Pawn," he said finally. "That'll be your new name." He leaned over, grimacing when Copper Pawn flinched. He gently nudged the younger Gladier. "Come on," he prodded gently. "Let's get you out of the rain." The newly renamed Copper Pawn shakily got to his feet, stumbling weakly into Lightning. He stiffened, but Lightning's gentle reassurance that things were fine eventually got him to relax. He was too light. Lightning Pawn didn't like that, even though he was leaning heavily against him, Copper Pawn's weight was barely noticeable against his side. His eyes instantly scanned the trees for Ithil, panic trying to overwhelm him. This wasn't what he was planning on finding in the forest!

Ithil had been following her pawn of storms closely until she noticed an odd looking stain on some grass. Not really meaning to she had lost sight of Lightning when she had gone to follow the odd trail. She was carefully looking for traps remembering when Pawn had been struck with that bucket of nasty smelling liquid. Realizing this she made a low whine and started to look back the way she came. She hated leaving him alone in weather like this. A noise nearby made her jump and look around wide eyed and worried. Crouching low she headed to the noise ready to find out what it was and if it was Lightning she would chew him out until he was chagrined enough to never do it again. She went forward and saw a shape in the shadow of a tree. Standing up out of her crouch she made a harsh hmmfph and snorted. “Lighting of all the stupid things you’ve ever done. You know I hate pranks especially after that thing with the gunk. Do you need me to too… “ she stopped and backpedalled a few steps the eyes staring at her where the wrong blue. These were more teal and as the head came out of the shadows it was filthy! “Sorry I think you have the wrong gladier. Name’s not Lightning. Didn’t mean ta scare you. Just heard a noise.” Ithil grimiced just looking at the other gladier. “ You need a bath.” “I’m fine.” “ You’re dripping.” “ It’s normal.” “Oh really?” “Yes.” The other just snorted and started to slide back into the shadows. Not one to be discouraged she started to march right in after the dripping mess. “ I don’t want to get dirty and you need to go get a bath. You can go quietly or I can drag you, and I assure you my love will be grumpy if some stranger gets me dirty.”The other gladier backed up and out into the light. Ith was right that other one really needed a bath and then some. “ Hey! What are you...?” “ Shut up and keep going.” She waved a paw at him now that he was out in the light keeps a space between them. Then she called out. “ LIGHTING!”

Lightning's head swiveled to face the direction of his love's voice. "C'mon," he encouraged his companion, heading in the direction of the voice. He paused when he realized Copper Pawn's hesitation. "It's alright. Ithil doesn't bite," he reassured him. Copper, a little more reassured, slinked after the more confident male. "I'm over here," Lightning called back as he headed towards Ithil. He didn't want her yelling at him because she thought he was ignoring her.

Hearing a voice shout out Inkling looked around at the crazy female in front of him. She was still shooing him but this time it was toward the voice. “I don’t need a bath! I always drip.” He moved back as she kept up her forward momentum. “What’s with you anyway? You complain about possibly getting dirty and now are moving forward herding me.” Turning his paws made a squelching sound with every step. Well at least this female didn’t run screaming thinking he was bleeding or some kind of monster. So he moved toward the voice.

Lightning grinned as Ithil and another Gladier came into view. "Apparently we've both been picking up Gladiers today." He passed the dripping male to gently nudge Ithil. "So, are you introducing your stranger first or am I introducing mine?" Copper cringed back at the sight of the other Gladiers, trying to make himself as small as possible.

“Oh I didn’t pick him up. I’d end up dirty.” She smiled at her mate while the dripping male bristled. “That chick’s nuts. She’s insisting on giving me a bath. What kind of clean freak is she?” She watched him grumble and start to leave. “Stay put or I’ll drag you back drippy.” The tone she used was that of an order and the male winced and stayed still. A small puddle dribbling down to his paws. She looked over male her love found and smiled at him kindly. “Hello there. I’m Ithil. Who might you be?” Her tone was sweet and nice. It didn’t seemed like it belonged with the bossy girl a moment ago.

Lightning Pawn just grinned at Ithil's response, though it dropped off his face as the male bristled. Claws instinctively shot out of his paws, though he made no move towards the other Gladier. Although Ithil had... tamed him, in a way, his defensive instincts were not easily suppressed. He raised an eyebrow at the dripping Gladier. "She's my clean freak," he replied flatly. "And you're dripping. That's a logical insistence." He barely resisted the urge to snicker when Ithil used her commanding tone. The dripping male wasn't going anywhere. His gaze shifted to the orange male he'd found. Him, on the other hand, would bolt the minute that commanding voice was turned on him. Copper Pawn shrank back a little despite Ithil's kindness. "Pawn Num..." he began. He looked over at Lightning, then down at the ground. "Um... Copper Pawn," he corrected.

Ithil ignored drippy’s comments. He was a mess, but she liked the way her Pawn defended her. It made her stomach flutter and her grin. She blinked at Copper Pawn’s name. “Copper pawn? Are you related to Lightning Pawn?” She waved a paw at Lightning Pawn with her eyes full of curiosity. Her tone was gentle but she was bothered when the other gladier shrank back. She wasn’t scary at all. “And what’s with that groveling? Come here silly.” She tapped her paw on the ground next to her softly.
Shaking his head a few drops dripped off. “I always drip. All you’ll do is stain the water.” He starred back at the aggressive male with a blank stare. He wasn’t aggressive back. “Your clean freak is nuts. Does she often hustle random gladiers or just the messy ones?” His eyes were strangely empty. It was as though he was figuring on being attacked and knew how it would end for him, but just didn’t care.

Copper Pawn abruptly lifted his teal eyes from the ground and met Ithil's purple ones. "... Lightning... Pawn?" He slowly shifted his gaze to the one who'd found him. "... You are..." "... I was the second." Turning to Ithil, he answered her question for the timid Gladier. "He's my half-brother. This is the first time we've met, though." Even with this new knowledge, he didn't approach Ithil. Lightning turned to grin at the drippy Gladier. "Only ones that irritate her. Usually that's the messy ones."

The second? That entire conversation made no sense to her at all. She’d be sure and ask Lightning about it all later. When Lightning mentioned their relation she looked at him surprised. They had never met? Mm well they were family so that would have to be fixed. Lightning spent enough time wallowing over his ‘family’ as is, even though Ith had never met any of them. Moving closer to Copper Pawn she raised a paw and pated him on the head like she would a kit. Was it her imagination or was he deathly scared of her? That wasn’t right. “Well I’m Lightning Pawn’s love and all around boss. So that makes me your sister. So stop that shivering we have something more important to handle.” She turned her eyes to Drippy with what could only be described as complete and utter distain. “Drippy here needs a bath.”
Was that other male laughing at him? Inkling didn’t really care for this whole family reunion going on around him and was about to excuse himself when that witch made her comment. “I am not ‘drippy’ and I don’t need a bath.” He really had to get away from that crazy female.

When he saw the paw raise, Copper Pawn flinched as if expecting to get hit. But when he got a pat instead, his teal eyes lifted to peer up at her. "Ok," he replied meekly, shuffling over to Lightning Pawn's side.
Lightning Pawn glanced over at the other Gladier, letting his soaked half-brother lean against him. "If you're not Drippy, than what are you?" If he'd introduced himself, Lightning hadn't heard it. And he definitely was dripping.

“What I am is a gladier.” He snorted. “Who I am is what you want to know and I don’t see a reason to tell you.” He was blushing and looked down grumbling. “Drippy!” “IT’S NOT DRIPPY.” Her cocky smile was more than he wanted to see. “it’s Inkling.” His voice was soft but clearly she still heard because she snorted and was chuckling that was the kind only moments from laughing. He glared at her emotion finally entering into his eyes. He glared at the other too for good measure.

Copper Pawn shrank back from the glare, but he didn't make a sound. He closed his eyes and hid his face in his brother's side. Lightning Pawn, on the other hand, glared back at Inkling. He curled around his brother and gave him a reassuring lick on the head. Copper Pawn's only response was to nuzzle closer to the one shielding him. Why were other Gladiers so terrifying...?

Ithil rolled her eyes. Drippy, Inkling; there really wasn’t much of a difference. He was still a mess and needed to be cleaned. “Stop glaring around like some ill behaved little one.” She waved a paw at him dismissing his anger much to the clear shock expressed on his face. “Lightning do you remember where the river was?” She didn’t remember the way and drippy needed a bath. He had a small puddle around him now.
