It was all business most of the time anymore. Things needed to be done. People to meet. Negotiations to well...negotiate. Was that really all that her life as a Senshi was going to be? Sure it was great. You got to go new places, meet new people. But it seemed more and more that the places you went you rarely saw much of. And the people you met were stuffed shirts.
Such was the life she supposed. Though often Toutatis wondered if others lived the way she did. So rigidly timed. It was for the good of the kingdom after all.
But what duties would really bring her to such a place as this? It seemed...damp. So damp that it made it hard to breath. What sunlight this foreign place had hurt her eyes, so used to the eternal darkness of her home world. If not for her full body outfit, which was quite a bit snug and perhaps a bit too form fitting for her tastes, and the tinted glass across her eyes she would have a nasty sunburn and be partially blind. The cloth across the lower part of her face did little to help talking to others. It was difficult when out doors. Once inside she could take the damn thing off.
The group she had arrived with were here to take a look at the Lyonesse wall structure. Its walls famed for keeping out the sea. They had hoped to gain some knowledge to better their own walls around the capital city. To keep all the creatures at bay. There were parts becoming run down and crumbling. And they needed a new way to protect their people.
Toutatis had lingered in the back of the group for the most part, but her curiosity about this place did little to keep her there for long. And soon she found herself alone. Wandering around. Lost. Not like she was afraid to be on her own. And she doubted the group would miss her anytime soon. They were far too busy looking at flat surfaces, hmm and hawing about this or that.
Boring.

Lyonesse Page was well aware that there was a delegation visiting his island from off-planet. More worryingly, as far as he was concerned, one of those visitors was a Senshi.
Lyonesse did not, on the whole, trust Senshi. They were strangers born to far too much power, in his opinion. A planet could have many Knights, but only one Senshi - and who was to check her if she went rogue?
Lyonesse could also be a fairly opinionated sort of person, inclined to inform people of exactly what he thought of them. And so he had made the choice to sequester himself in his tower for most of the day rather than risk offending the visitors. However, in the end, curiosity won out over courtesy - what did a person from Toutatis even look like?
Taking a bit of a wander himself, it wasn't difficult for him to spot someone who was both a stranger and looking a bit lost.
"Miss?" He called politely. She had to be part of the Toutan delegation!

Her body tensed as a voice called out. Had she been caught wandering? Well that didn't take long. She figured it would be at least a few hours before they sent someone searching for her.
Toutatis whirled around, fully expecting perhaps that they had sent a Knight but to her astonishment it wasn't one at all. From what she had read up on about the Lyonesse his garb expressed the rank of Page.
A light sigh caused the veil across her mouth to flutter as she pushed her back up against a nearby wall. Watching him with pale colored eyes behind dark tinted glass. "Come to drag me back to the prattling cattle have you?" Her head turned slightly as she watched a small group of other natives wander by at a small distance.

Lyonesse frowned slightly. "No, certainly not; I wasn't planning on taking you 'back' anywhere. I don't even know who you are." He said simply. Perhaps that would insult her, but he didn't particularly care.
He took a deep breath. Best not to snap at her or offend further. So he simply bowed. "Lyonesse Page of Earth." He introduced himself. "You looked lost, is there something I can help you find? Or are you merely avoiding the...'prattling cattle'?" She could only mean the rest of her delegation, he supposed. If they were here to see the walls, they would certainly be impressed, but he could see why ooing and aahing at enchanted stone might get a bit boring.

A wry smirk flashed across her lips. "Well now, that is a bit insulting." Toutatis prided herself at being the Senshi of her world. If she were going someplace new or someone of import were coming to her world she always made sure she knew as much as she could about them. "Though I suppose different cultures have different expectations from their lower end."
She eyed him as he bowed, an eyebrow raising curiously. Not stepping away from the wall she had pressed her back against to even return the courtesy. "Sailor Toutatis." That was the short version of her official title anyway.
A small smile came to her lips as she narrowed her eyes just slightly. Tilting her head a bit. "I do not see much of interest to find here my dear Lyonesse Page of Earth. Nothing but sunlight and damp air." Clearing her throat, she glanced about in case anyone had decided to listen in on their conversation. "You try to stare at stones for hours on end and be impressed. My only concern is whether or not it will keep my people safe. Not how it's shaped or set."

Lyonesse frowned at the dig at him, not appreciating the implication that he was a low-class member of society. In his opinion, it was quite the opposite, but he kept his mouth closed lest he offend her further. He didn't exactly need a member of the Toutan delegation complaining that Lyonesse Page was rude or snappish, even though he already had been.
"Well, Sailor Toutatis, I apologize for my disrespect, then," he said. He liked her even less now - a Senshi, and a damn arrogant one, in his judgement. But it was at least courtesy to play nice with her on the face, so the Earth Page mentally tamped down his disgust and distrust to put on a carefully neutral facade.
"It's done well enough for the people of Lyonesse," he said. "And if your Toutan enchanters can replicate the magic, it should do as well for you." He could respect the desire to keep her people safe, he supposed. It was his duty, too. To walk the Wall and check for cracks in its construction or its spellwork.

Crossing her arms over her chest, she brushed a bit of hair that had fallen over her shoulder back. No retort? How droll. Though she had to remind herself constantly that she wasn't here to start s**t. This was a 'peaceful' visit.
"As well enough for water." Turning, she peered around the edge of the wall she had been leaning against. Scouting the open area. Gloved fingers grasping at the rough stones. "Have you ever had to run for your life from hungry beasts? Or pruned the vines of a plant that would rather eat you than look pretty? That could drag you from your bed at night if you were not diligent?" They were more rhetorical questions than actual ones. She was merely proving a point as to why they needed their own walls.
But perhaps she spoke too much. He was just a Page after all.
"So." Now that she had his attention and making him go away would leave her lost again. "What else does your little island have to offer besides magical pebbles?" What knowledge she had been given was limited and since he was already here so might as well ask someone who knew.

Lyonesse frowned. Of course he hadn't, and she had to know that. So he made no attempt to answer her questions. At least he knew why the Toutans wanted enchanted walls, if their homeworld was so terribly dangerous.
He couldn't help but wonder why one would want to live in such a horrifically hostile environment, but then, people were terribly hardy, he supposed, and there must be worse places - Pluto, or the planets outside the Sol System entirely.
"Mostly fine crafts and solitude." Lyonesse said. "The people here are often those that would prefer to be separated from the outside world. We have high walls for more than just the sea."

"Pbbtt." The sound that Toutatis made was highly unladylike in any fashion. She had no time for crafts or solitude. Why anyone would want to live in such a boring place was beyond her.
Turning away from looking out at the open space she sized him up. A curious eyebrow raised as she leaned back against the wall once more. "Is that why you're here, for the solitude?" She was beginning to get bored of just standing here, so before he could answer she moved around the edge of the wall out into the walk way on the other side. Just picking a direction and going. If he wanted to talk he'd have to follow. Standing around made her antsy and the light was beginning to hurt her eyes even with her eye protection on.
Maybe she could find a shadier place for a while.

Lyonesse suspected it was probably his duty to stick with the Senshi and keep her out of trouble, so he followed her, much to his personal displeasure. He followed at a casual pace.
"I am here because it';s my duty, and because there needs to be someone to walk the wall and check for cracks." He said firmly. "The solitude, peace, and quiet is just an additional bonus." When it wasn't being interrupted by visitors form other planets prodding at Lyonesse's secrets.

Toutatis stopped. Turning on her heel half way to face him. Glancing off towards the wall in the distance. "There seem to be enough people here to do that task. Is the magic not strong enough to keep it from cracking?" That thought puzzled her. Why would they want to invest their time in something that could crack. They had enough of that issue already.
"You haven't lived until you've seen a bustling city like Toucro." An offhanded comment. She turned back to continue her walking. Hands lacing behind her back as she scouted. No point in taking a walk if you didn't take in your surroundings she supposed. Not that she probably needed to know. Toutatis didn't suspect she'd be returning to this place anytime soon.
She stopped once more, turning her head away to rub at her eyes. "Is there someplace dark...ish around here?"

Lyonesse frowned slightly. "The magic is strong, but even the best magic fades with time; it's part of my job to make sure that it gets repaired when it does." The minute the magic failed, the entire island was doomed; he knew that much.
"Mmm, I've never been one for large cities, but I'm sure it has its charm," he said. People made him uncomfortable, large groups even moreso.
He looked a bit surprised at her request, but then she was terribly pale and it seemed she was unused to sunlight. "Well, there is inside?" He said. "Unfortunately there's not much in the way of shade trees."

"You would think they'd have a system in place to constantly refresh or 'update'..." Toutatis did the finger quotes thing. "...the magic over time so that you don't have to wait till it fades and spend however long it takes to repair it." She was only assuming that there was no such system. The way he put it, it seemed like they basically just waited until parts failed before they did anything. Kind of like replacing a knife's blade that broke when sharpening it over time would have kept it from breaking.
She puffed out her cheeks lightly as she glanced at him. "Well I'm not sure where I am allowed to go around here and I was hoping you'd be able to direct me someplace that didn't have windows that let too much light in. I don't want to step into a room and have knights at my throat cause it was some sort of super secret room type thing or whatever."

"We do. It's me," Lyonesse said. "I'm supposed to find the little weaknesses in the fabric of the spell and repair them before they can get bigger and put the whole island at risk. Places where it's been stressed too much and is starting to come apart." It was hard to explain exactly what he did, he supposed, to someone unfamiliar with the workings of the walls of Lyonesse.
"We don't have places like that. Not ones you could wander to accidentally, at least." The upper floors of the Knight's tower were off limits to anyone but Lyonesse himself or those he chose to allow in, but they were locked and there was only one key. "Come with me, please," he said. The first floor of the tower was nearly windowless and definitely cool. He beckoned, trotting off.

"So you do that yourself for the entire wall?" Toutatis quirked an eyebrow. It seemed like a lot of work for just one person. Though she could certainly say she'd be just a little bit impressed if that were the case. But it would probably be a job she'd grow tired of quickly. Tending the walls wasn't really in her job duties. Now, fending off the critters who tried to get through the walls of Toucro was another story.
"Yea well, better safe than sorry I would imagine." It wouldn't be the first time she'd gotten into diplomatic troubles for wandering into places there were off limits. Though it would've helped if they had signs or something that indicated the places were off limits. Maybe there was an obvious guard or two but even still.
But at least now she would get out of the light for a moment. Give her eyes a rest. The shaded visor only did so much for so long. "I don't need complete darkness so I hope wherever you are taking me at least has some candles or something." Not that it really mattered. Seeing in the dark was easier when you grew up on a world that was dark all the time.
