Yvar was quietly working in the smaller gardens bordering his house, checking his winter harvest for ripe plants. As he headed to the next garden patch with his basket, he glanced down the clear path that led from his house to the front gate of the fence bordering his farm. A lone figure was walking up the path, so he waited. He wasn't surprised in the least. His farm was just off a well-traveled road, and travelers often stopped in for food and shelter.

Ever since the party, Eir has been wandering the lands. She had been feeling better for a time, but with wandering by herself, being left to her thoughts, she fell back into that depression. The elf had no idea what to do with herself, her partner was gone. And even though all this time had passed, she just couldn't heal. She couldn't accept the fact that he was gone. In a way, it felt like it was her fault. Maybe if she hadn't wandered so much and had stayed by him, protected him, he would still be here.
Glancing up, she noticed that her feet had taken her to a farm. At that moment her stomach started growling and quietly she hushed it, telling it to stay quiet, for she had no funds for food. Little did she realize the farmer was nearby.

Yvar stepped out where Eir could see him, meeting her halfway up the path. "Can I help you?" he asked. Red eyes inspected the woman in front of him calmly. He hadn't seen her before. Maybe she was a new traveler or one taking a different route than usual. Either way, he had no qualms about helping her.

Eir looked at the farmer and shook her head. "I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you." Her voice was quiet as she apologized. "I have no money on me so I can't ask for food or anything anyways. I really am sorry for disturbing you."
In the back of her mind, the voice of the farmer sounded vaguely familiar, but with her lost in her thoughts of her beloved Aurori, she couldn't place it.

That voice. It was so familiar. "... There's no need to apologize," he replied. "It is good to see you again, Miss Eir." He turned towards the house, gesturing for the broken elf to follow him.

The elf was taken aback as the farmer said her name. "Excuse me, but um...how do you know me? I don't remember ever passing through here before?" She was completely confused now, but yet that voice sounded so familiar. Why couldn't she place it?

"I'm Yvar Ra. We spoke quite a bit at the King's party a few months ago," Yvar reminded her gently. "Well, outside the party. You were quite distraught." And he had attempted to convince Eir that her life was worth living happily, even without her beloved Azrien.

"That...that was you?" Eir stared at him in surprise. She had always meant to thank him, but never got the chance to. "I'm so sorry you had to deal with me like that. And I'm afraid I've been wandering alone since then, that I'm almost back to that point." Her eyes looked down at the ground, feeling almost embarrassed that this kind person had helped her so much, but then she went and just tossed all that help away.

Yvar glanced over his shoulder at her. "I've told you before, I don't need an apology," he said calmly. "It wasn't an inconvenience. If you've fallen back into the pit of despair, I don't mind giving you assistance again." He paused and reached over, placing one of his large, calloused hands on Eir's shoulder. "It's getting cold out. Let's talk further inside."

Eir didn't know what to say, and so instead just nodded and allowed herself to be directed to the house. She truly didn't want to be a burden, but at this point, she didn't want to insult the farmer who had been so kind to her. The sound of music came floating through her memories, the music that he played while he talked to her that day, and it started to calm her down. Why couldn't she have remembered the music before now?

Yvar led Eir into the kitchen, setting his basket of winter vegetables down on the counter as he spoke. He moved about the kitchen, throwing some wood into the stove and putting a kettle on its surface. A stone oven was quietly cooking a loaf of bread, the smell taking over the room. Baskets of fresh produces lined empty walls and a few had been crowded onto the kitchen table. In the corner was Yvar's precious lute, the bloodstains on the back of it partially visible as it sat, propped-up in a chair. "Where have you been traveling?" he inquired casually as he continued to move around the kitchen like a clockwork soldier.

The elf looked around the room, noticed all the produce, the smell of the baking food, and just couldn't help but be amazed at everything. "You...you do this all by yourself?" she asked in amazement. While she fancied herself to be a bit of a healer and able to work with the earth in that way, this was so much more impressive than her feeble skills.
"Oh...um...really just anywhere. I've just been letting my feet go where they want as my mind had shut down." She looked down at her hands, and started to pick at her nails, a nervous habit she had picked up recently.

Yvar nodded. "For the most part. Sometimes travelers or passing Azrien assist me." He grabbed a wooden paddle off of the counter, used it to lift the bread from the stone oven, and set it back down. "It's not the easiest work in the world, but I manage just fine." His father had taught him the trade well; even after all of those years in the lands below--and away from farming--hadn't affected his ability to successfully work the land and make crops grow.
"I see." He might've said more, but the kettle whistled its announcement that the water inside it was ready to be used. "Would you like some tea?" he asked over his shoulder as he grabbed the kettle's handle and took it off the stove.
(( I... have a plot idea for you. ))

Eir was still amazed that someone could manage all this mostly on their own. She would have buckled and gone insane if it had been her.
"Um, yes. Tea would be nice." She nodded as her eyes glanced around. They rested upon the lute, and she couldn't help but stare at it a few moments. "I really hope that I'm not in the way of anything or taking you away from something important."
((Oooh Plot ideas?))

"You're not in the way," Yvar reassured her as he made the tea, pouring the water into a teapot of a simple tea set. "Not in the least." Once he finished, he turned and placed the tray containing the tea set onto the table. The farmer followed her gaze to the lute, smiling ever so slightly before turning his attention to the tea set. "I see you haven't forgotten my lute," he commented idly as he poured the tea into two of the tea cups.
(( Yup. I'm planning on having Mico be one of the Azrien that helps Yvar around the farm. He sticks around partially because he says he's going to meet his Bonded there. Maybe he becomes Bonded to Eir? I think he'd be sweet enough to help Yvar mend her broken heart. ))
