The sky had opened up and begun to weep. Rain had begun to fall over the battlefield. Her blood along with all the other's began to run downhill, mixing with the rain. Risheera's body laid in the rain, her pelt littered with gashes and soaked in blood from her wounds she had sustained from her duel with a male lion that had survived the battle before she had gotten there. Every few moments her chest would rise and fall again in an unsteady fashion. Despite her shallow breathing, she was still on the brink of death. The blood loss alone should have killed her by now and the fact she could not or would not open her eyes was not promising in the slightest either.

Would she die here on the battlefield in a blaze of glory and as a free lion? No, she couldn't die yet. She had no legacy, be is making a name of herself, forming a pride or even conceiving any cubs to carry her good blood. 'If I should live, I will do everything in my power to ensure generations to come remember my name.' It was a personal vow that Risheera made to herself, trying to will her body to agree with her mind that she should live but to no amount of success. As much as she hated to admit it, she would need help if she was to make it out of this with her heart still beating.

The loss of his pride weighed heavily upon the large male. His movements were sluggish and head held low as he drug his paws over the ground, ignoring the rain that pelted him. Since his escape from his captors he had found himself alone in the world. They were all gone now, killed by the monsters who had taken him as a slave. Aman'thul had been one of the lucky ones it seemed. Not only had he been spared for the live of a slave, but he had managed to survive under their brutal paws.
Was it worth it?

The smell of blood and death drifted through the air, bringing him quickly from his thoughts. As he came to a halt he slowly raised his eyes and the sight that befell them was awful. It was a field of death, and bodies littered it as far as he could see. Mud, water and blood churned together into a gory mess. His first instinct was to turn and leave, to escape this wretched place, and he was more than willing to do so. However as he moved to turn away he was stopped by the possibility of survivors. Gold eyes turned back to gaze upon the scene he had stumbled upon. Aman'thul couldn't leave without at least checking it out for any who might still be alive.

Perhaps it was adrenaline, the gods, fate, or just the pure, instinctual will to live that caused Risheera's battered body to twitch and move in some horrible attempt at getting up. It didn't really get her anywhere and it sure hurt like hell too. Every muscle in her body ached and simultaneously felt like claws were tearing into them, moving only intensified the pain. Feeling cold from blood loss on top of that didn't help either. 'Okay, maybe that was a bad idea.' Maybe it was enough though. It at least made her feel alive. She wasn't dead just yet. She still had some fight in her. Just how much was left though was another matter.

As he moved through the fallen bodies he started to wonder just how likely it was that there would be anyone left alive. The bodies he inspected were just covered in gashes. This battle had been a terrible one. Aman'thul was starting to think this search futile when he caught a movement. The male quickly made his way over and around the bodies between him and the spot he though he had seen something. "Is someone alive out here?" He called out, slowing his pace to move more slowly around as he once more started to inspect the bodies. It had surely been around here, or perhaps he had merely been seeing things? A trick of the rain perhaps, or maybe a buzzard had flown down without him noticing?

A voice! Someone was here! Before Risheera's mind and body were just focused on keeping her breathing and keeping her alive, now all of a sudden it switched to letting the unknown owner of the mysterious voice that there was still a survivor, that she was still here. As much as she tried, she could not get her muscles to respond any more. No movement, no twitching; at least none she could feel. If her legs would not carry her than maybe her voice could aid her. Sadly, a low groan is all she could muster.

There appeared to be nothing but more bodies as he closed in on the area he could have sworn the movement had come from. No buzzards were picking through the fallen, and no one appeared to be alive. Aman'thul was just about to turn and continue his search further through when he heard something. With how loud the rain was it must have been close, otherwise the sound would surely have drowned out such a soft noise.

Aman moved to the closest bodies to him, gently shifting them with his paws. The first one was definitely gone, as was the second. The third body was a striped female, quite badly wounded, as many were. He gently shifted this body as well, trying his best to catch any signs of life. He was just about to move on when he noticed the shallow movements of her side. "She's alive!" He gasped. Though it didn't appear as if she would be too much longer. "Don't worry, I'm here to help." He spoke in the most reassuring voice he could as he tried to figure out just how he would get her up, and for that matter where he could even take her. The latter though seemed to matter less, since she would be sure to die out here if he did not at least more her somewhere a little cleaner.

"Now, this might hurt. I'm going to have to move you to get you out of this place." Aman'thul tried to move as quickly and gently as possible, unsure how much longer the female would even be able to hold on. After a bit of work be managed to pull her front half onto his neck, and with one paw holding her legs he shifted her further over his pack. It was a bit awkward, but it would have to do for now. "Just hang in there." Aman spoke as he started to move, stepping gingerly through the bodies as he made his way away from the field of bodies, and hopefully towards anywhere other than this place.

'Ow, ********, that hurts, you a**.' Is what would have come yelling from Risheera's mouth at the male who was moving her if she could have.

Slowly her eyes opened for the first time since she had collapsed onto the ground only to fall shut once more after a few seconds. Her vision hadn't even focused by the time it went dark again so currently all she knew was pain and that she was on the back of something with a masculine voice. Based on what she was feeling and the fact he was able to move her she guessed it was a male lion. At first she was worried it was one of those 'brothers by the sea' the male she had killed was talking about but it subsided at least a little as he reassured her that he was there to help and that he was getting her out of there.

'What am I going to do now?' Aman'thul though to himself. He now had a bleeding, wounded, and possible dying female lion across his back. Not only that but the rain had yet to subside, nor did he think it would anytime soon. He didn't know this area, having wandered blindly for some time, and had no knowledge on if there might be any form of shelter for them to get to. All he knew was he had to get her somewhere safe, somewhere better than that..place.

"Don't worry." He found himself saying once more, this time more to reassure himself. "I'll get you somewhere safe.." His mind was a frenzy of thoughts. What had happened to her? What was he going to do once he even found shelter? Aman'thul was by no means a healer, and knew next to nothing about plants and any medicinal uses for them. The only thing he could really do was hope to get her somewhere dry, clean her up and hope for the best. Maybe some god would take kindly to them and someone with more knowledge in the ways of healing would come their way.

These thoughts continued to buzz through his head, slowing only for a moment as he stepped passed the last carcass. From what he could make out through the rain there appeared to be some trees, maybe even rocks ahead of him. It was better than nothing. So with a fresh surge of determination Aman made his way towards them.

Sure enough the shadowy form became more defined, and there decent sized tree. Aman'thul nearly bounded forward, eager to escape the rain, but had to restrain himself lest the female topple off his back. A sigh of reliefe escaped him as he came to a halt beneath it, just happy there was enough foliage above them to keep a majority of the rain from hitting them. It was no cave, but it was certainly better than standing out in the open plains. Slowly, and as gently as he could. Aman'thul slid the female off his back. It was certainly a relief to get somewhere dryer, but what now? Searching for help now, with the rain pouring down so heavily, seemed a bad idea. He stared down at the female, brow furrowed with worry. "Just hang in there. I'll look for help as soon as the rain lets up a bit. For now just..rest." There seemed little else he could do for the time being. He hated it. Even though he had moved her somewhere safer he still felt completely useless.

He didn't need to tell her twice.

At least now Risheera could rest without the rain subtly reminding her that the heavens were open and calling her home. No, she would not go home just yet. Not yet... She still had so much to do. While the ground was still cold and moist in a few places from rain that made it through the canopy. At least she figured it was cold, but then again everything was cold at this point. The lioness breathed a small sigh of relief, her eyes still closed as she laid under the tree. For now she would rest and try to survive this ordeal.

Aman'thul watched the rise and fall of the lioness' side, a good sign at least. She was still alive, and hopefully he could manage to get some help for her so that she would stay that way. This was not how he had expected this day to turn out, but then again there were many things he had found recently that he had not expected. Maybe, if nothing else, it was some sign. A reason for him to keep going on. His life had seemed quite empty with the loss of his pride. His family. Now he had to keep going, if for no other reason than to make sure this lioness lived. With nothing else to do Aman'thul moved around the female and lay beside her, his side resting lightly against her back with the hopes his own body heat might at least keep some of the cold away. It was the least he could do for now.
