Terra had a big bag of things in her hand as she headed for the Demon Dorm, whistling a happy Christmastival tune to herself as she went. She hoped this would be fine with Xiu--she had called earlier, so she was pretty sure it would be fine. She was just bringing more than she had planned. She was in a very good mood at the moment, so it was no wonder she had put together a nice little meal to surprise her friend with, as well as the things they would need.
She headed for Xiu's room, knocking twice and waiting patiently for the other ghoul to answer the door. Mentally she was making a list of names--and stopping on one in particular. Did she want to make a gift for her brother?
The sound of her whistling might have been annoying--had she not been pitch perfect, which seemed to run in the family.

Having expected Terra's arrival, the baku opened the door almost immediately after the two knocks, greeting the ghoul with a smile and a small hug. "Hi there! Hopefully my room wasn't too difficult to find?" The demon dorms weren't huge, but a few friends had gotten lost to her room in the past. She moved aside and gestured for the ghoul to enter, her tail swishing behind her.
"Please come in and make yourself at home! I already prepared some tea, if you'd like some." She waited until Terra was inside before shutting the door behind her, clasping her hands behind her back and tilting her head.
"So, what's the plan?"

"I would like to make treats for my new friends!" Terra said, looking excited as the door opened. "Because many, many of my new friends are puppies, I thought we could do candied bacon packages, and special cookies--I do not know what they cannot eat, but I am very sure they can eat bacon," she said with a serious nod. "But before that, I have made us dinner!" she added, hauling her massive paper bag into the room. It was half as big as her. "I hope you do not mind?" she added. "Oh, and finding your room was not hard! I just asked someone!" Because she secretly believed that Roch was correct in his estimation of Xiu--she DID collect noobs. It sort of made Terra feel guilty for taking up so much time. But she liked Xiu, very much!

Aah, so that was why she was dropping by! Looking amusing, the ghoul simply grinned. "Can do! Candied bacon and spookies are both quite easy and quick to make. As for what they cannot eat..." She trailed off thoughtfully, thinking of Mitsu, "One of my werewolf friends is unable to eat chocolate without getting sick. I'm not sure if that sickness extends to your friends, but it might be best to avoid it just in case."
After all, the last thing they wanted was to make all the canine students in this school sick to their stomach. The mention of dinner made Xiu perk up, and her eyes growing round. "Oh! Aww, Terra, you shouldn't have! Of course I don't mind, though!" She had been having a hard time deciding what to have for dinner before Terra called anyways, and she was always happy to have a meal with a friend.
Had she known what Terra was thinking, she probably would have gone over to give Roch another disapproving elbow to the midsection again.

"I very much do not wish to make Senor Alpha sick, or Chaya or Frost--" Terra said, looking horrified at the thought. "I am so glad you are my friend! You know so many things!" she told Xiu happily, dragging her big bag to the table and digging into it to pull out two large plates covered in plastic. "I hope you do not mind burritos! It was a quick and easy meal, I am afraid--I have had a very busy day." Her quick and easy meals looked like a full course, with the burrito taking up half the plate. It seemed to be oozing with goodness--meats and sauces and green stuff that didn't look rotting at all. "Oh! And I have learned a lovely fruit salad from my friend, senor Kiwi!" she added, bringing out a wooden bowl filled with cut up fruit. By now it was apparent that EVERYONE was Terra's friend in her mind. Including the horseman she'd just mentioned, and what could possibly be an alpha werewolf of a clan of werewolves. (But seriously, according to Roch standards, she knew hardly anyone.)

Looking sheepish, the baku lifted a hand and waved it quickly. "For every one thing that I know, there are thousands of things that I don't know. It just so happens that this is one of the bits of knowledge that I've picked up." And whether or not illness to chocolate could be generalized to all (or most) canine students, Xiu didn't know, but it was always better to be safe than sorry.
"Oh--burritos sound wonderful!" Xiu assured the ghoul with a grin. It definitely looked great too, and it wasn't something that the ghoul got to eat often. She perked up at the mention of "Kiwi", furrowing her brows in confusion as she tried to place why that name sounded kind of familiar. It wasn't someone that she knew personally, but she had definitely heard of it in the passing...
As she puzzled over this, she gestured to the table, indicating that Terra was welcome to sit down as she went into the kitchen to grab them some chilled fruit teas.

Terra placed the plates on the table and sat down, waiting happily for the tea. She felt so much at home here, she thought, watching Xiu. It was possibly--yeah, she thought, looking away from the Baku. That sweetness and ladylike-ness that the baku had reminded her faintly of her madre. Her madre had been... more mature, of course, and the baku seemed a lot tougher than her madre had been, but there was just enough of a hint. But tonight wasn't the night to break into her sob story, she decided. They would make Christmastival presents together and she would play for the baku, and they would have fun. "Senorita Xiu, may I ask, what exactly is your relationship with my hermano?" Shouldn't it be the baku asking that question?

Xiu returned not long after, setting a small tray with two teacups and a teapot down on the table. Filling each cup with the tea, she set one down in front of Terra first, offering the ghoul a warm smile before taking her own. With everything laid out, she settled down in one of the chairs, and had been in the midst of lifting her teacup to her lips when Terra suddenly spoke up.

The baku blinked blankly, and then slowly her cup, brows shooting up and disappearing beneath her bangs. "I--what? My relationship with Roch?" That was who her "hermano" was, right? "We uh, have been friends since we were in our first year."
The was a slightly uncomfortable pause, and then she tilted her head to the side. "What does 'hermano' mean, anyways?"

"Hermano means brother," Terra explained. "Although he is not..." she fell silent, thinking back to Austin as he led her out of trouble. "My hermano... is more of my tío--my uncle. It is... it is very confusing," she admitted before smiling and digging into her food. "But both are very much alike," she said, brightening up. "So I do not mind calling Roch my hermano and my hermano my tio! It is my padre that I do not wish to claim. But!" she said quickly, "they are very certain that I am a Scythe, so do not worry, I am not a fake!" Wait, what? Did any of that make sense?

Having taken a bite of her food--which was really good, by the way--the baku found herself unable to speak until she got through this piece. Perhaps it was for the best though, because she wasn't so sure what she could say. It was clear by the look in Xiu's eyes that she was having trouble following Terra. So hermano was...brother, but Roch was more of a tio--uncle--and she preferred calling him by the former, but her father--
Hold up, what was going on.
"I--wait. Roch is your...uncle?" Furrowing her brows, Xiu began to try piecing together this family tree in her head.

Terra looked at her blankly, then started to laugh. "No! Roch is my sobrino! He is my nephew. Austin is my hermano--but he is too old for either of us to be--to be comfortable with that," she said. "I am..." And then she realized she'd just let the secret out of the bag. "Ah, it is embarrassing, no? I should not have told you. But I trust you, you will not tell others, no? It is easier to be considered Roch's hermana," she admitted. "Than to say mi padre is that man," she muttered. She clearly didn't like Vegas at all.

Xiu had been in the midst of taking a sip of her tea when Terra spoke and so, when the reaper told her that Roch was her nephew, the baku unwittingly ended up inhaling a bit of the liquid. Setting the cup down, she began to cough into her hand, holding up her other hand to indicate that she was alright. When the coughing finally subsided, she looked up at Terra with wide eyes.
Roch's...aunt? And Austin's sister? So then that made her the daughter of...
Aah. Quickly, the ghoul shook her head. "No no, it's not embarrassing! Just surprising, is all, and don't worry--I won't tell anyone else about this."

"Enough of that!" Terra said. "We have finished our meal, we should start our presents! Is there anything you would like my help with, as well, senorita Xiu?" she asked eagerly. "I am not as good a baker as you are, but I can help with wrapping or such?" So Xiu KNEW Vegas? Or was it just the idea of Roch's grandfather being a father that made her choke like that? The reaper ghoul's mind was rushing as she tried to figure it out.

Deciding that if Terra wanted to bring the conversation to a close then it was best to do so, the baku simply smiled and nodded, wiping her hands off on a napkin. "Don't worry--I've wrapped most of my gifts already! Let's focus on making your for your friends, shall we?" Grinning, she finished off her tea before standing up, bringing anything that needed washing to the kitchen sink.
"So, what would you like to start with?" She asked, completely unaware of the thoughts rushing through the ghoul's mind.

It was comments like that that reminded Terra of how unladylike she was, the reaper thought with amusement. True ladies already had all their gifts prepared! "If you do not mind, we could get the bacon cooking as I try to figure out what to give señorita Sio? I do not think ghosts enjoy bacon as much as the puppies do. And I would like to give you something as well..." She hesitated, her mind rushing as she tried to decide whether it was egotistical of her to offer this...
