Seething, Xelloss stalked through the forest. In a rare outburst of unrestrained emotion he kicked viciously at a tree in passing. His demon blood talismans had been his greatest treasure. They had been given to him long ago, when he was young. They were a token of esteem from someone he respected very much for his prowess in battle. He had three of the four back now, thanks to the blunderings of Gaston. Only one now remained, and he knew where it was. Turning, Xelloss glared in the direction of his lost talisman.
He had discovered it in an offshoot of the cave he had been exploring with Gaston. There was no mistaking that red glimmer in the darkness. Just as Xelloss had been about to reach it, there was a cave-in. He had barely escaped without being crushed and now his talisman was trapped. The passageway still stood, but there were fallen rocks that would not allow any large creature to pass. He was barred from it, and there was no getting around that.
Pausing in his wanderings, Xelloss stopped and let his head hang. This was not a posture of defeat for him, but one of concentration. He had to think. There were few problems he had yet faced that could not be solved by clever thinking. He couldn't fit, but something smaller could. He could bribe the services of a raccoon, or possibly even a snake. Or, even better! Something like.... Xelloss' ears pricked. He knew his dark gods must be smiling upon him, for he could hear coming closer exactly what he needed.
An usdia.

Things weren't going entirely to plan for Kalioky. She had yet to find a truly good target for her manipulations. Oh there had been a small number since coming here, but they had been far from perfect and thus had been used for only minor things. What she needed was a real Soquili, one who was relatively easy to manipulate yet at the same time wasn't so dumb that they would prove to be useless far too soon. It was time to refine her searches. She could still use those lesser individuals just because it was amusing that they couldn't figure out what she was doing to them and surely even long after she left they would be clueless as to the things she had made them do. It was sad really the number of simple minded Soquili she had come across, it almost made her give of hope of finding someone truly worth manipulating.
Muttering to herself Kalioky made her way through a new area. Surely here she would find something or someone useful. Her wanderings brought her closer to a Kalona thought it wasn't until she came out of the trees that she got her first look at him. Oh great, he probably thinks she is a walking snack. Bringing her hooves to a stop she looked him over quickly. Wait a second! A Kalona could be just what she needed to start getting revenge on her herd and those of her kind. Wasteful beasts that they were. If her herd was eliminated...well it would be the best thing that ever happened to her. Well, this day might just be looking up after all. "Well if it isn't a Kalona, from what I hear the fiercest killers in all the lands...next to skin walkers of course." Best to butter him up a bit, Kalona were not the easiest beasts to manipulate, especially when she was an easy target for them.

Xelloss didn't need to track down the owner of the hooves he was listening to. She came straight to him. Out came a cream-colored usdia with a leonine tail. Interesting. Xelloss had been seeing more and more usdia with strange features lately. From what he understood, an entire batch of new usdia breeds had sprung out of the woodwork not too long ago.
He didn't immediately put on his cheerful act when she greeted him. She already knew he was a kalona and knew kalonas were dangerous. Oddly enough, she was pleased about these facts. That was an unusual combination. "You would be correct," he told her. Though he wasn't perky, he still appeared affable enough not to be threatening.
"Fortunately for you, I'm not hungry right now," he teased.

His reply amused her in an odd way and there was the faintest smile that danced across her lips before her face turned neutral once more. Perhaps, just perhaps, this stallion might be the tool that she needed to show her old herd a thing or two. He seemed to be well muscled, a good example of what a Kalona was, and his answer had proven to her that he wasn't just a mindless killed but one who used his mind. It might not be the easiest task before her to send this Kalona after the herd but she would most certainly try. "Well...I suppose that does make me fortunate." She said in an almost bored tone. Kalioky glances off to the east, the direction she knew her herd, her ex-herd, lived in before slowly returning her gaze to the Kalona before her.
She took a moment to look over his distinctive Kalone features. The leathering wings, the horns on his head, the splayed tail and cloven hooves. Yes, the breed was designed well, to kill from both in the air and on the ground. It was the areal advantage that made them superior to skinwalkers and made them the perfect breed to kill off her herd. They were too busy looking for danger from the ground that they all too often failed to look up. "Although, it's somewhat of a shame really. Because I happen to know where you can find an entire herd of my kind to sink your teeth into" She gave her shoulders a slight shrug. "But I suppose if you are not hungry I'm sure I can find another who is willing to do so." Slowly she began to turn away. A number of things could happen at this point. He may go for her now that her back was turned and tear her open before she could reaction. He may call out to her, wishing to be the one to spill all that blood. Or, the least likely option of all, is that he may just let her go completely.

The usdia was a traitor to her kind, offering to let him eat her brethren. That was unusual, to say the least. She had to be a creature with almost as much hate in her as a mazoku to serve up so many to their deaths like that. She was now feigning disinterest with him, but Xelloss could recognize a ruse when he saw one. She had an ability that he wanted, being able to retrieve his final talisman. He had an ability that she wanted, murdering whoever it was that irked her so. Xelloss instantly saw his chance and acted quickly, not wasting it.
"I'm not hungry now, but I might be soon," he said to her back. "If you do me a favor I might be able to build up more of an appetite. Understand?"

Kalioky continued to walk a short distance initially ignoring the Kalona's words. It wouldn't do to turn in interest too quickly, but she also couldn't ignore them for too long, just in case he decided to make a meal of her after all. Her steps slowed and eventually she came to a stop. Ears flicked back towards the stallion and with a slight huff she turned to face him. It seemed like an interesting proposition and while she didn't normally do things to get others to do her bidding, yet for a Kalona she might be willing to do a little something. But even then she had to be careful, these beasts didn't like to be used so she would need to tread very carefully. Even so she wasn't willing to accept his offer quite so easily as he obviously hoped that he would.
"You might be hungry?" She asked stepping towards him again. "Or you'll definitely be hungry? Because I am fairly certain I can find some other hungry beast to do the work if you aren't sure whether you stomach will be ready or not." This was a dangerous game she was playing but it thrilled Kalioky to no end to even have the possibility of a Kalona ripping apart her herd. "And as for this favor you want me to do, well that would depend on your appetite as well as the details of it. So go ahead, enlighten me to this apparent task you wish me to perform for you." She was intrigued none the less that a Kalona, a strong killer than he was, would want, no need, her to do something for him. And it was really the only reason, well that and his potential to eat her kin, that kept her here for the moment.

Xelloss wasn't really in the mood for an usdia with attitude. She acted like she was the one with power, like she was the one who could strike down the other in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately for him, he did actually need something from her which did give her a sort of power over him. He could find another usdia, but there might not be any others in the close area and he didn't want to have to shepherd one over days of travel. He had to play nice with her for now.
"Mine is an easy enough request," he said simply, without his usual verbal dodging. "I need you to fetch something out of a cave for me: A talisman that matches these." He tapped with his tail the talisman that he now wore around a front leg. "How many deaths exactly is it that you'd charge for this task?"

She was so close to getting him to do this she could taste it. But it was too early to get excited, Kalona, as with many of breeds, could be unpredictable and thus she would need to fully secure his cooperation before celebrating. Boy won't the herd be terrified to see this large brute coming in all fangs and hooves tearing loved ones apart. It sent a shiver of pure joy down her spine to even think about him in action. But again she was getting ahead of herself, there was still the matter of this task he wanted her to do. Normally she would refuse to do something for the one she was trying to manipulate but this was a rare chance to hire a Kalona, and perhaps if she stuck around after her task was done, she would even get to see him in action. Now there would be a happy memory if she ever had one.
Mention of his task made her ears perk forward. He wanted to retrieve something out of a cave. It did seem simple enough and yet she wasn't one for manual labor either. Stepping forward she inspected the talisman on his leg. An interesting looking enough piece, but to her it was just junk, something to weight her down. At least it didn't look to large or heavy. So, the question was how many deaths was something like that worth. Time to get her worth out of this. "Well now, that is a fancy thing you got there...and clearly of great sentimental value, which of course that right there will cost you. And with it being in a cave, well those places aren't the safest you know. Why I could get hurt and then you'd never get your precious trinket. " She paused thinking it all over, head tipping slightly to the side. "Tell you what, since I'm in a generous mood I'll get your trinket for...twenty deaths. O sure it sounds like a lot but given the situation and my kinds size it shouldn't be too much. Why I'm sure you could take out four or five of them in a single strike." Lifting her head she looked up at him, attempting her best to make eye contact with him. "Is it a deal then big boy? Twenty deaths for a talisman?" Twenty was a good number and while it wouldn't put a huge dent in the herds population it would scare then silly and make them rethink this peaceful new land.

"That is an utterly ridiculous price." Even if he was lying, he didn't want to be cheated. He couldn't think of any service that someone could give him that would be worth him slaughtering an entire herd. He expected that she was underestimating the difficulty that it took to even kill one usdia. They were easier prey than full sized soquili, yes, but they still had hooves and teeth and very much did not enjoy being killed.
"I'll give you five," he said flatly. "Your task is a simple one. If you find other ways to make yourself useful to me that number may increase, but not for this."

In truth, Kalioky had known as soon as she uttered the number that he would say no, but she had tried to milk this opportunity anyways. Still, when he said it was ridiculous she didn't blink nor balk at his immediate no. Instead she glanced off to the distance for a moment, this gave her the time to think things over. Kalioky knew she couldn't push the Kalona that much more, she was certain he was at his limit anyways. This breed was not to be messed with, but still she considered if there was anything else she could do at the moment to sweeten the deal on her end. Honestly, five deaths was not something she was willing to turn down, much as she wanted more five was a decent number. It was five less herd members she would need to deal with if and when they meet again in the future. Imagine the delight she would feel if they told her about the horror of the attack that she had set upon them.
Slowly Kalioky swung her gaze back to the stallion and gave a slight nod. "Five deaths." She agreed, though she would definitely need to see if there was anything else she could do to garner more kills from the large brute. "If the task proves to be more troublesome than you say it is I will except two addition deaths." But that was the end of her negotiations knowing not to ruin what she already had. "Now show me this cave. The sooner I can get your talisman the sooner you can spread death to my friends."
