TK would always be book smart. He couldn’t tell if he was street smart as well, but he at least knew he was good with books. The skeleton often spent his time in the library whenever he wasn’t curiously wandering around school grounds in search of various rumors and gossips he could file away into his memory bank for later. He didn’t know if such information would be useful, but they were always interesting and that was enough to make his explorations worthwhile.

He was book smart, so it wasn’t surprising when a teacher told him to help a fellow first year with homework. “Alright, so,” he started as he slid the worksheet closer to Skald. “what are the basic features of a human? Compare a human to a reaper.”

Skald was on the opposite side of the table, leaning back in his chair and with his feet propped up on the table. Any books the skeletal boil may have given him were shoved off to the side, while he occupied himself with unwrapping and re-wrapping his pygmy pom.

"What you mean like their soft, weak looking, fleshy, sorry excuse of a body?" Clearly he held no respect for humans OR reapers. Nor was he going to take his lessons from his tutor seriously. Not willingly at least.

Golden eyes blankly stared at the hydra as he casually propped his feet on the table. After a moment of thinking, TK pointed out, “If you lean too far out you will fall over. It is best to be careful.” He furrowed his brows at the minipet in Skald’s arms, but chose to say nothing of it. Instead the skeleton rearranged the papers in front of them.

“If you want to put it that way, yes,” he answered calmly. “As much as you dislike humans, their FEAR is what keeps us alive. They are necessary, no matter how much you may want to deny it. It is best to know as much as we can about humans.” If TK had glasses he would have arranged them. “Is there any other differences you want to point out?”

"Doubt it." Was all he said in returned and deliberately leaned back further. It was a pity that TK got paired with Skald, because he was likely one of the least cooperative in their class. If not the worst. Then again, that was probably precisely why the teacher had opted for him to tutor the hydra. Regardless, it was going to be a chore for the skeletal boil.

Already bored of the pygmy pom, Skald stuffed the hamster sized critter back into his pocked and regarded TK with a bored expression. "So they say. But other than as a food source, they seem like a waste of space." There might have been an irritable hiss in his throat and a roll of his eyes. Learning about humans was boring subject. One he didn't see a value in.

"Short life spans, on top of their pathetic frame."

His lips pressed together as TK mutely watched the monster lean back even more. Well, at least he hadn’t fallen over. The skeleton leaned back slightly to examine the chair’s leg. He couldn’t say what was going to happen to the chair, though.

The minipet was stuffed back into Skald’s pocket, which caused TK to stare at the pocket warily. That seemed a bit rough, but okay then. “You also realize their fear is what created us in the first place,” he replied while he took out a book and flipped through the pages. TK sighed patiently while he skimmed the contents in order to study on his own while attempting to tutor. “It is a give and take relationship. Humans delight in being scared and their fear keeps us going. You could think of it as a necessary evil, so it is important to know as much about them as one can.”

TK hummed and scribbled down Skald’s answers. “Would you like to be more specific? Like what makes their frame ‘pathetic’ or why they live so briefly?”

Skald let out a groan, suddenly leaning forward and slamming the chair back onto all four legs. "Does it even matter? I'm sure you nerdy types," A pause. "no offense, will do just fine in learning about humans and what not and all that's required to keep the Fear source going. I couldn't be bothered. I don't like the humans, I don't care about the humans. Therefor, I couldn't be bothered to learn about the humans." Even if the humans were the ones responsible for their birth in the first place, the Hyrda couldn't give a toss.

His lip curled back into a sneer. "Everything. From their weak bones, to their soft hides, they're as weak as newborn scareling." He paused giving a thoughtful look. "No actually that's giving them too much credit. As for their lifespan, I hear they end up getting themselves killed more often than not."

He gave Skald a blank look. It was difficult to tell if he was unfazed or actually miffed by the monster’s comment. “None taken.” Golden eyes observed Skald for a moment before they returned to the paper in front of him. TK hummed absentmindedly. “I see. Does that mean you have no intention of having a job that involves humans? But citizens are required to obtain a certain amount of FEAR, are they not?” He knitted his brows together as he continued to write down what Skald fed him. “Perhaps my knowledge is getting rusty.”

“If you are referring to accidents and humans killing each other, then yes a number of human deaths happen that way.” He leaned back as he filled out the last question and quirked an eyebrow. Well, he could always fudge a few answers for Skald if he really needed to. “That is enough, I suppose. What do you want to do now? Our session has another….hour?”

There was a long silent stare from the hydra, waiting to see if his words would cause a rise out of the skeletal boil, but nothing happened. Satisfied, he leaned back in his chair again. "Don't get me wrong. I intend to do my 'duties' and scare the s**t out of those little fleshlings. I just don't intend to hug and ask them how they feel while doing it." He could scare plenty without knowing huge details about them, thank you.

There was a snort of amusement and it was clear that Skald thought little of humans. "Isn't that up to you, Mr. Tutor?" If he had it his way, he would have left a minute in to this session.

TK took a moment to think over Skald’s opinion. “A reasonable answer, but in the end that will not convince the professor to give you a passing grade unless you actually try to seriously answer these questions.” Then he shrugged. “That, however, is something I cannot force you to do. Good luck with that, I suppose.”

Logically, it was a waste of the undead’s time if Skald showed little interest in learning about humans, even if it was only for the sake of receiving a passing grade in the class. “I find it useless to tutor someone who shows little interest in the subject, but if you want to continue I can offer you some helpful books to skim through. Otherwise I will allow you to do something else—but I will come along, since technically our session is not over.”
