What had been a town a little off the Hunter base was now nothing but smouldering ruins. Smouldering ruins, and for anyone well aware of the area, a viable death trap.

While the area was absent of horsemen, instead, the prior visitors had been clever, using what their kind did best: the natural resources of the land to create treacherous trenches, pits and paths. Walking through the entire seemingly harmless area, riddled with prisoners who were unaware and helpless trapped in the debris, in locked shacks, tied and in pain would lead many Hunters into the same condition.

OOC

NAVIGATING THE TRENCHES/ THE TOWN

- In order to free prisoners, Hunters need to navigate through the traps. Think of this as a sort of real-life Deathsweeper with no golems.
- Roll 1d6. Death and Mist Hunters get one instinctive flag (ie: if they were about to take damage, they can forfeit that damage instead). Moon and Life Hunters can heal any party member for 50% of their health once during this course. Sun Hunters are the most unsuitable for these conditions and have no bonuses sad
Rolling a 1: -50% of FULL HP
Rolling a 2: - 25% of FULL HP
Rolling a 3: - Safe
Rolling a 4: - 25% of FULL HP
Rolling a 5: - 50% of FULL HP
Rolling a 6: - Safe

- You will need to survive 4 rounds in order to free any prisoners. If you hit 0% HP you are KO'ed and NEED TO BE RESCUED. For each time you do survive 4 rounds, 5 prisoners are freed (NPC Hunters). You regain full health for doing so.
- That means anyone who survived 4 rounds will have to save you instead of the other prisoners.
- You will need to survive 5 rounds in order to reach the furthest point of the debris, where two ??? former Hunters are positioned (this is where Ryan and Kat are, though their location or even their survival/ the fact that they are HERE are entirely unknown ICly). Quote Zoobey, Oniongrump, and Lividpeas when this happens and you break open the shack with the prisoners tied inside!

IF YOU ARE RYAN AND KAT

When you wake up the first thing you see is a closed off area, what seems like a boarded-up tiny shack. You are tied up with crude rusted chains. You feel tied, like you can't move.

Kat awoke to a throbbing pain in the back of her head, as well as the inability to move. Something, something heavy and cold was binding all movement. Groaning, she cracked one eyelid open, slowly taking in her surroundings. Where the hell was she now? This didn't look like the lair at all. Adjusting her vision to the light, she attempted to sit herself up, and giving up when her head ached at the movement. "Horsemen b***h." She knew something like this was going to happen when she turned down her offer, though really.. couldn't they have just dragged them here instead of beating them unconscious? Then again, the horsemen weren't known for being gentle with their prisoners.

Rolling her eyes, she caught sight of the former moon hunter, Ryan close by. "Ryan? You awake?"

The town was no longer that - a town. Instead, it was the skeletal remains of something that had once been, smoke drifting upwards from what had been, at one point in time, a little place with houses and buildings.

Now it just looked as though anyone stepping in was doing so with the understanding that they would most likely not step out.

<< Are you sure you want to do this? >>

The dragon sounded apprehensive, though he'd tried to keep his tone of voice light. Gale gave a grim sort of snort, swinging the rifle around so that it hung heavily in front of him, the strap digging into his shoulder blade. It was definitely not ideal, but with his other hand still mostly useless, it was not as if he had much of a choice.

Nope, but since when has that ever stopped me before?

<< Never. >>

The first few steps had landed him in a trench several feet deep, Gale giving a small grunt of pain and surprise as he collapsed into mud and debris. Something sharp - a broken piece of glass - jabbed into his side, and he scrabbled awkwardly to his feet, scowling.

<< All right there, slick? >>

Shut up, you.

He'd almost fallen into one of the other trenches, but fortunately sidestepped just in time.

Though Gale was relatively certain his luck would not last much longer. This place was, in all senses of the word, a death trap, and he was not exactly in prime condition.

Ryan was indeed awake and if his hands hadn't been bound by chains, he would be clutching his head in a futile attempt to push away the growing headache. "Awake and alive, but with a killer headache." He answered miserably. Though he wanted to know where they were and what was going to happen next. If it had anything to do with those plans Medea had mentioned...

Was there really ever a decision to be made. a right or a wrong?

There was something wrong with this place, something even Takerus mind rumbling within noticed. The prisoners needed to be saved, there was no decision that needed to be made.

Only Ceres was not prepared for the natural traps they had in store, hissing out in pain as she found her fear sheild already cut in half from the first move. She was not a ninja and..apparently really sucked at this.

Grimly, he wondered what he was getting into. The next step was taken gingerly, the rifle feeling heavy around his neck, but Gale was not taking the chance of desummoning it.

<< Like you'd ever do anything without me. >> Jinhai snorted.

You act like I'm useless without you.

<< Well, aren't you? >>

Rude.

<< You love me. >>

You believe that if it makes you feel better.

Ceres really was not cut out for this, but she COULD so something that might help others along. Eyes flicking up towards the blond haired man, someone whom had just free'd some of their own whom were trapped here. Yes... she could so something.

"Keep going Gale." She managed to hiss out at him, flinging her heal towards him. She was sure now that he was the most suited for this kind of thing. Darn those death and their ninja ways, it was no wonder now really why only deaths mostly went this way. They knew how to get s**t done.

He saw her, out of the corner of his eye, and almost toppled into the nearest trench.

"Ceres!" Gale called, trying to backtrack towards her, but the place was like a minefield; just the wrong step could result in a terrible consequence. He pressed his lips together uncertainly, and gave her a grateful look, Jinhai making a soft noise of concern inside of his head.

"Be careful," he said. "Just...be careful."

He was not about to lose anyone again.

He took several steps forward, but his foot landed on an unsteady section of ruins. The wood splintered beneath him with a loud crack, and with a shout Gale collapsed, skidding down into a heap of debris. Sharp, shattered glass bit into his skin, making him hiss out in pain, shoving aside what he could to struggle back to his feet. He swayed unsteadily, blinking back anger, as his gaze moved from one imprisoned hunter to the next.

Bloody hell.

The shacks were the worst; Gale sucked in a sharp breath, and staggered towards the nearest one, bloodied fingers grappling at the locks, tugging and yanking to get the chains off. He braced a foot against the door, twisted the rifle around and slammed the butt of the gun into the shack repeatedly.

<< This place is highly unpleasant. >>

Yes, thank you, I've got that, actually.

Wilson found himself in a town. At least, it appeared to have once been a town. Now it was something reduced to smouldering ruins, but with the nearby battle he wasn’t surprised at the unfortunate fate. He could only hope that if there had been inhabitants, they had been evacuated earlier on. It was empty, mostly silent. The silence unsettled him and he had a feeling in the pit of his stomach. [Maybe ya should go back the other way.] Wilson shook his head as his gaze swept over the town’s remains. No, I saw Gale and the others come this way. I’m sure they’re here somewhere. Maybe something important is here. The catoblepas laughed a wheezy laugh before Wilson took a step forward.

He knew he could always trust his gut feeling to tell him when something was clearly a trap. Wilson’s boot stepped onto a trigger that sunk into the ground. His muscles contracted, then he dove to the ground to avoid a majority of the arrows flung in his direction. He was lucky he didn’t set off a second trap. He was lucky only a couple of arrows struck his side. Wincing, Wilson managed to pull them out before he stood back onto his feet.

[Gotta be quicker, kiddo.] Wilson frowned as he continued forward. I’m trying.

It took a while before Wilson encountered the next trap, but this time the hunter was ready. His foot kept falling, never meeting the ground. He pulled back suddenly to watch the ground in front of him give way to a deep trench. He leaned forward to see the bottom of the hole covered in spikes. The death hunter grimaced before gladly walking around the area.

It only took a moment of complacency for Wilson to mess up. One moment where he let down his guard and he could get himself seriously injured. He couldn’t see the tiny glint in the light before he stepped through a wire trigger. Wilson hissed under his breath and began to ran with his partner rasping loudly in his head. [Faster. Run faster, kiddo!] Trying…! He looked behind him frantically as he continued to outrun the barrage of arrows until he ran into a pile of debris, but at least the trap had ended already.

Wilson paused to catch his breath, but also curiously ran his hand over the rubble. He cocked his head and pressed a few small rocks away to reveal some sort of building. The hunter continued to remove the debris, brushing away the rocks and dirt to reveal a shack. Once he fiddled with the lock, he pushed the door open to reveal a group of hunters he had never seen before. He stepped aside to let them through..

The area was clear, oddly devoid of traps. With a last complaint groan, the door fell completely off its hinges, revealing the two trapped inside, still chained, though poorly so.

OOC: SAVING THE PRISONERS

- Bringing the victims home:
- Gale can try to convince Ryan and Kat to return home with him, and free them from their ramshackle little prison
- At this point they will have to make it ACROSS the traps again. Thankfully following Gale's footsteps would have been easier - if it was not so horribly foggy.
- Gale and any Hunters around will need to ESCORT the two back.
- Every step Kat or Ryan takes in the freezing snow is nothing short of torture. There is a TIME LIMIT before they get frostbite and potentially start losing off more than just their arms and limbs. (Especially with no Fear Shield)

gaia_crown Making it out :

- Each step takes 5 minutes.
- In 10 minutes, Kat and Ryan start feeling their limbs freezing up. It is really cold
- In 20 minutes they start feeling tired, lethargic even. They have a hard time moving.
- In 30 minutes they pretty much feel a case of extreme tiredness and lethargy. They close their eyes. They don't wake up.
+ 5 minutes added to each of these for each Hunter that offers them a piece of clothing (coat/ scarf/ etc). It requires the Hunter to reach them first (surviving 5 rounds)

- Crossing the area needs FIVE SUCCESSFUL STEPS. Without a weapon, Kat and Ryan are meat bags. Roll a 6-sided dice and match your dice rolls to the result below. Once again, they need to roll 5 successes EACH.

1: SUCCESS. They take a step.
2: FAIL. They get stuck in a large pile of snow. A particularily nasty trap grazes their leg, drawing blood. Things look grim. - 5 minutes.
3: FAIL. They trip over several broken branches in the snow. Their skin is sensitive enough that it cuts up their legs. -5 minutes.
4: SUCCESS. They take a step.
5: SUCCESS. They take a step.
6: They falter for a second, in the fog, it feels like for a moment something grabbed a hold of their leg, but maybe it was their imagination.... - 5 minutes.
