Egg Descriptions
Self-Absorbed Egg - Brown Asgaroeth: Tyalar (TanuKyle) - Bright blue egg. This egg is ready to be released to the world. When the surface of the egg is touched the Candidate can feel the dragon's breezy impatience at being kept locked away for 'development.' It should be out convincing the world that life is dull and dim and ugly until it arrives. It does not tolerate any kind of cringing self-doubt or self-loathing, so you had best banish all of those thoughts before you touch this egg again or you may be in for sharp surges of remonstrance and anger.

Play Nice Egg - Green Girofleth - (Meep) – Mottle Green egg. When it feels a hand on its shell, this tiny egg's resident gives the impression of returning the touch, gentle and curious. Do you need something? Can it help? If it senses an aggressive or deceitful personality, however, it responds with a sense of deep disapproval. How could you?!

Each of the thieves’ groups fled in different directions, keeping to mundane
and less obvious modes of transport to throw the Trine Dragonmen off their
trail. No flashy dragons, no bloodbathed Holds, just the simple transports of
good between places. There were strict orders not to return immediately to
the Wherholds so as to minimize suspicion on them – action could not be
taken where there was no evidence.

To An’os, Tashio, and Kr’stof, it meant they fled west into the foothills of the
mountains separating Aquor Hold and Trine Weyr. The Firestone mines
were convoluted and twisting, a maze of tunnels and nooks, perfect for
hiding eggs while the dragons searched. Again, they fled by dragon when
they got into the jungle, leaving the stolen wagon to rot in the woods.

“While many smaller mines dot the landscape around Trine these three
mountain mines are some of the largest and richest in veins of firestone.
Allowing them to produce higher quality stone to be used to flame with as
well as hosting small camps and outposts of guard whers and signal fires in
case they become targeted. Each mine is required to have a number of
firelizards on hand to send word in case of attack and are either Hold run
industries or in the case of the one on the eastern mountain range and the
one closest to Trine on the Western Mountain range is overlooked personally
by the Weyr with the river allowing easy shipping of firestone hauls.”

Their passage, however, carried them past logging camps and watchdragon
towers, leaving a trail the searching Trine riders could follow. So close to
the time when the eggs would hatch, Riders were dispatched with
Candidates so that they would not be lost Between. The search was
frantic and hard, hindered by the inexperienced Candidates and the fear of a
clutch ruined by subterfuge.

The trail was hot and their anger fresh when the riders came, finally, to the Firestone Mine.

Instructions
The Revolutionaries are still here when the Resistance arrives. Feel free to
RP the initial contact. There are no combat mechanics and the eggs are
HIDDEN in a place that cannot be accessed by any dragons. Please defer
to staff moderation if it is needed.

**If your character is in this list but not an IC Candidate, they need to be in
the area with the group. They could have spotted the thieves flying and
become a guide, been out hunting/gathering, visiting the location, etc. It is
up to you how your character got there as long as it is within reason**

((Candidates and non riders may assume they rode on Calanoth if they wish))

The heavy bronze landed with an earthshaking thud. ~ Get. Off. ~ He demanded, his voice clear in the minds of each human on his back. His bright orange eyes whirled as he peered over his shoulder.

Calanoth sank to his knees as Z'fer hurried and undid the straps binding them all down. "Slide down, land with your knees bent." Was all the instruction on Dragon Dismounting they got before Z'fer was on the ground himself and looking to meet up with the rest of their group.

The mines were close, the only logical place in this direction that the thieves could have hid.

......................

Ailin did as told and very quickly. He didn't like that he'd been sent out with the search parties. After his near argument with Niyx earlier he was actually very unhappy about it. Here he was, right where he'd said he didn't want to be, living what could very well end up a Tragic Tale.

((Iwieth can carry up to 2 besides his rider.))

V'tur looked back at his passengers as they came down for a landing. Iwieth landed to the left of Calanoth, giving the bronze plenty of room. The brown rider loosened his straps and looked back. "Down everyone. We go to rider Z'fer for our instructions."

Iwieth huffed, his eyes whirling in anger and sorrow. This was not a good time. They would have to move quickly to recover the eggs. Tucking his wings in, he bobbed his head to Calanoth. We wait for you.

Iafri had nothing to do with the search for the stolen dragon eggs - in fact, she had no idea that any dragon eggs had even been stolen. The Holdless girl was blissfully oblivious to any drama that didn't involve the baby caprine she'd stolen and subsequently lost when it bit her and she'd dropped it, giving it the opportunity to run off. She'd been quick to chase after it, just quick enough to see it enter the mouth of the mine.

Shaffit. There might be people in there, and if she went in she might run into them! Then again, if she didn't, she'd lose her whole day's work and have nothing to show for it but a bruise on her arm. And she could hardly go back to where she'd stolen the caprine from tomorrow, after they'd noticed the theft and taken precautions against another.

Shaff and more shaff. The girl took a deep breath, clenched her shaking hands into fists, and slipped inside the mine even as, unbeknownst to her, dragons began to descend.

Tacelon had hardly known what was happening when they Weyr erupted into an uproar. All he'd heard at first was scattered snatched about thieves and exclamations of outrage. Echo had picked up on the dragons' agitation and the flit was sending his bonded disjointed images of shadows in the night and empty sands, which wasn't helping any. When he'd finally heard that someone had stolen some of the dragon eggs on the sands, he was as shocked as anyone. Why would they do such a thing?

Things seemed to move very quickly then, and in short order he was assigned to a search party and on a dragon, Echo clinging to his shoulder. They'd ended up on a brown dragon, who landed more gently that the angry-looking bronze with the group. He didn't look forward to going near that dragon, but his rider was apparently the one leading the group. He quickly slid down and made his way to Z'fer, waiting for instructions.

Shaff, shards, and all of the words he generally did not use when speaking. Kr'stof found swearing vulgar, thank you very much, but when chased into mines with stolen dragon eggs he felt it to be appropriate to at least think some of the stronger five-and-six letter words.

Xenth, darling, precious, my sweetest of muffins, please tell me you're nearby.

Brief silence in his head before a murmured It will be alright, Krissy.

Not good. A bit not good.

He couldn't hear them actually inside of the mine, not yet, and hissed soft and low between his teeth. Making words and giving orders at this point would likely be a good thing. Wouldn't it?

"I didn't bring a knife," he whispered to his partners if they were close enough to hear. "And we're in mines. Let's pretend we're being clever and taking charge and run as if we have whers on our heels as soon as we can."

Tyalar slipped off the dragon who had given him a lift, casting one more awed glance at the magnificent being and vocalising a thankyou. though whether it would stay that way would yet to be seen as he slipped inside the mine, following what sounds he could hear, instead of waiting for any instruction at all.

A'nos' lips pursed into a flat line, his usually sparkling dark eyes cold and hard. "I suppose we shouldn't have expected them to give up, but I wish they had proved as incompetent as they have up until now," he muttered; his voice too lacked its usual lightness and had acquired an edge in its place. He did not like this, not in the least.

"I have a knife but not anything worth speaking of," he said with a brief gesture to his belt; the little blade was a tool not a weapon, intended for slicing food or cutting tangled straps in an emergency. "We have the eggs, which buys us some advantage... if they have the entrance covered perhaps we should go back to where we hid them. They won't risk harm coming to the precious offspring of one of their Queens." This wasn't the sort of tactical thinking he was accustomed to, not in the least; getting close to their prize and potential bargaining chips was the only thing that came to mind immediately.

"Does anyone know of another way out of here?" he added in an undertone, not knowing how close their enemies might be.

the role of leader hadn't been 'officially' given to him but Z'fer wasn't about to argue when candidates and riders began to group around him outside of the mines. "We're going straight in after them. Rider's first, candidates after. We need to find those eggs and get them home NOW. The dragons can guard our backs out here. They'll let us know if anyone tries to escape."

The group he'd been assigned wasn't much. A couple not-so-tough looking children and two other riders but it would have to do. "If they fight, engage them but our first priority is to find those eggs. Candidates, that could fall to you. If you have a flit send them to one of us when you find the eggs. Those mines aren't going to be a straight shot and the last thing we need is you lost too. If you don't have a flit, stick with someone who does."

"DON'T Go anywhere that looks unfinished or unstable. They wouldn't risk the eggs and I'm not about to risk your necks. Be on your guard."

~Two have entered the mine!~ Calanoth had just seen the movement of two small bodies as they slipped by unnoticed by the humans.

"Scorch it! B'nas, V'tur Let's go!" Z'fer turned and ran towards the cave entrance.

She didn't run into anyone immediately once she entered the mine, which was a good sign, and she didn't hear any activity, either, just drips and - what was that? Hearing something behind her, Iafri ducked into a side passage and pressed up against a wall. Maybe whoever-it-was would just walk by and not see her...

"Meee~eeeh!" bleated the caprine from farther down the narrow passage she was in, causing her to nearly jump out of her skin. She covered her mouth to suppress the startled sound that wanted to come out, not that the damage wasn't already done.

Iafri sidled quickly along the wall and scooped up the patchy-colored little caprine, hoping against hope that she'd been wrong and hadn't actually heard the sound of footsteps behind her. Surely it had just been dripping water, right?

Tacelon nodded at Z'fer's instructions. He had a flit, so that was a plus. And Echo could help look, too.

As the boy waited for the riders to enter first, he whistled instructions to Echo. Stay in sight. Fly. Find eggs. The brown flit chirped to show he understood, then launched off the his bonded's shoulder. As Tacelon entered the mine, Echo swooped in above him and started flying around the immediate area, poking his head down passages and in crevices as he hunted for anything that looked like the stolen eggs.

V'tur cursed as the thieves managed to make their way into the mines. Whistling low, the rider called for his bronze Pest and called him to order. He had only his belt knife and his riding straps in case they needed to tie somebody up. Moving and flanking to Z'fer's left, V'tur pulled his knife and nodded to the bronze rider.

Iwieth hissed angrily. He had landed but was too large to enter the caverns. Looking to Calanoth, he bobbed his head. We can form a wall at the exits and try to catch them when they run.

With the dragons unable to enter the mines it was not they who would sense the impending hatching first, but the firelizards that accompanied humans of both factions. Not long after the flitts the dragons near the entrance to the mines would feel it too, that age old instinct to raise their voices as one. It was an alien place for it, an alien situation with no mother to look down upon her clutch with pride, with no spectators and just a handful of candidates....

And enemies, of course.

When Symphony started to hum A'nos cursed under his breath and banished her back to his Weyr. "We're out of time," he hissed to his companions. "We can try to grab the eggs and move with them to an entrance before they hatch hoping that seeing them will distract the Traditionalists and let us escape, or we can just try to make a run for it." He honestly had no idea which course of action was best; he had no experience of this kind of thing at all. The struggle at Malvren had been alien to him too but at least it had been simple, the course of action he needed to take obvious....

Had something just bleated?

Tashio couldn't believe it, they were stuck in the mines. And now the the eggs were hatching! She turned to A'nos as he spoke. "I don't care what we do, but I do NOT want to be around them when the hatch." Her voice was just above a whisper, not that it would matter, sound traveled in these areas. "Show them their precious eggs, see if that wins one of you a way out of here."

Tacelon had paused shortly in the mine, waiting for a rider to tell him what to do next. Little Echo had kept poking around, but abruptly stopped and hovered, head tilted as if listening. Then he began to hum happily, flying back to the bonded and swooping around the boy to get his attention.

Tacelon had no idea what his fit was up to as first. Why wasn't he looking? He was usually so good about following instructions. What was there to hum about? But after a moment he remembered what that continuous humming meant. "Hatching!" he croaked, then reflexively cleared his throat as if that would make any different to his rough voice. They had to get to the eggs now. He whistled a command to Echo again: Urgent, urgent. Find eggs. Still humming, the flit flew off to continue looking.
