Wen seriously debated on a commissioning a harness for his trouble making flit. It not doubt would be expensive and they would look silly, he had no doubt about that but his life would be easier. A lot easier if Cat's mischief was kept in a ten to twenty foot radius. He had finished up chores early and returned to his quarters to once again find Cat missing. The egg pots had been undisturbed and he was surprised someone hadn't tried to steal them. Wen had three hatchling fits already and only one of them had been planned.
Noche had been a gift from his father back in Atlini hold and the guard. Rivet and Cat had been surprises and now with two more eggs to hatch, Wen was starting to tease the notion someone was attempting to sabotage him. Which was silly but still... he had been in Trine Weyr for less than two weeks having been a late choice and found himself in the possession of five eggs. Well, one was because Cat stole a egg, but still it made his head hurt.
Wen kicked at the sand, frustrated, annoyed, and worried and not sure what to do about it. He had never felt so mixed up in his life and a sense of priority said he needed to find Cat before he caused anymore trouble. Like more eggs.
Cat in the meanwhile had found a somewhat familiar bronze. The spotted brown flit hatchling was currently trying to engage Pest in mock battle of some sort.

Pest was doing his best to ignore the brown who had taken his shiny round. He was almost sure the shiny round was very important and the gold he flew was angry. But that was then and this was now. And Pest was not going to talk to this brown.
V'tur was roaming around trying to find Pest. He was a little worried about the bronze. With so many flits coming and going, the brown rider wanted to make sure that no one made off with his little fellow or that he didn't get lost. Giving a whistle, he waited to see if the bronze would show.
In the meantime, he saw a boy who seemed very upset. "Need help there?"

Wen paused, startled and berated himself for not paying attention. He turned and looked up to meet the older man's eyes. "One of my flits disappeared," he kept from saying again. "You wouldn't have seen a hatchling brown with pale spots?"

V'tur rubbed his chin and thought about it. He didn't recall seeing any browns but that didn't mean it wasn't around. "Can't say that I have but maybe my fellow has..."
At the low whistle, Pest popped up above V'tur's head and chattered at him. Where had he been and why wasn't he there with food? V'tur held his arm out and Pest settled down, peering at the boy. "Have you seen another flit? A brown?"
Pest hissed and stared at the boy. "Maybe that is a yes?"

Wen froze slightly. He knew that bronze and shards this was awkward. My brown stole an egg from your bronze's clutch, that would bound to not go over well. "We... meet a few days back," Wen said, frowning at the flit. It looks like the bronze remembered him.
Cat came a few minutes after Pest, landing clumsily in the sand before trotting, proud and tail twitching like he meant to do that to Wen's feet.

V'tur frowned. How would this boy have met his flit. The brown rider stroked Pest's neck and looked at the brown that had decided to make an appearance. Looking over the youth, V'tur spoke with authority. "I think, maybe you should tell me what this is about? Has Pest done something to you or did you do something to him?"
Pest puffed himself up at the sight of the brown, not happy at seeing the one who took his shiny round.

"It is more like Cat did something to him." Wen said and knelt gathering up the brown flit, keeping a firm grip around the hatchling's middle. He didn't need to chase down the brown a second time. "I just feed your bronze after he bit me." Cat allowed the handling, ignoring the bronze to bat at the long shiny braid of hair. He was better than that slow old bronze. He had got the shinny right out from under the other's nose.

He looked at the candidate holding the brown flit and having an extremely guilty look on his face. The brown on the other hand looked extremely pleased with itself even as Pest continued to act hostile towards the boy and his flit. "And why would Pest bite you?"
Thinking carefully, V'tur recalled that Pest had successfully caught a gold resulting in a rather large clutch. And that Pest had been playing guard during that whole time. "What were you doing near Pest when he was playing guard?"

"Looking for Cat." Wen replied, looking down at his escape artist flit and scratched the brown's eye ridges. "My other flits don't leave the candidate barracks." He was relieved that Noche didn't get out. She would get lost somewhere and end up crying.
Cat preened, smug and trilled under the scratching. He fluttered his wings and twitched his tail.
"I was curious," and so frustrated, he edited out. "I never seen a Queen flit guarding her clutch before and Cat showed up and snatched an egg when I wasn't looking."

Now V'tur was not pleased. Not only had this brown bothered his flit but also managed to snatch one of Pest's eggs. He rubbed the back of his head trying to decide what he wanted to do with the boy. The brown did not seem remorseful one bit. "How is the egg doing? You are taking care of it?"
Pest continued to hiss at the flit, unhappy that his shiny round had been taken. He allowed his owner to keep soothing him. This brown would not be his friend anytime soon.

"It has its own clay egg pot and fresh sand. " Wen glanced down at his brown who decided to climb up his shirt and settled on his shoulder. Cat then started to clean his front hands, unremorseful about causing any work of ruckus. "Starting to move a bit, but the rest of the fair hasn't started humming yet." He had managed to only hear the tail end of the first singing when Rivet hatched and managed to listen for a few hours to both of his flits till Cat hatched out.

At least the boy knew how to take care of an egg. And it wouldn't be fair to take the egg now that it was all settled. But still, having a thieving flit could cause a lot of problems. V'tur was not pleased with flit but the boy seemed sad enough.
"Your brown needs some manners. I want you to meet with me when you are not attending your duties at least one candle mark each day. Perhaps, Pest can set an example."

"I probably should bring my green as well. Noche likely found or stole Cat egg from somewhere." Wen sighed and looked at his trouble maker. "You are such a brat Cat." He muttered, scolding the brown and nodded at V'tur. "Do you have a preferred time?" Extra lessons was nothing new, a bit different since they were usually because he excelled in something, not because he was failing.

"You are going to have to do something about your flits if they are all stealing. You will continue to find yourself in a lot of trouble and will set off the wrong person. They may even have one of the golds banish your flits. Which I am sure you don't want," V'tur sternly told him.
Pest bobbed his head at the brown and tried to look like the best behaved bronze ever. "After mid-day meal would be fine with me. Normally, there is a candle mark or two before training or your chores, if I am correct. Can you handle bringing both your flits? I will put them through their paces, making sure they can handle the basic commands. Iwieth will be there as well to back me up."

"Three, I have three in total. Rivet is just too lazy to bother leaving my quarters to steal anything." Wen decided he should bring the blue if just to get the lazy blue to exercise. "Lunch time would be easier, Cat knows that means food and tends to keep close. Noche behaves mostly." His green was a silly little thing and would be more interested in playing and greeting Pest and his owner.
A other thing someone hadn't bother speaking about. Wen filed the bit of information away and looked sternly at his flit. Cat just chirped and curled his tail around Wen's wrist, nosing under the other's chin.
