Maia sat on the top of the building ledge looking out at the people who passed briefly every so often. She had decided to let her brother go it alone tonight. This did no happen often, as he wasn't fit to fight a bunny and a negaverse bunny was nothing to scoff at. He was getting better, or at least he was less reluctant to retaliate against her, but she figured they get around that eventually. That was the downside of train with one's little sister.
She sighed frowning slightly when she felt him out of her range. She decided however not to follow just yet. She really needed to be looking for new senshi. It felt really great and like she really accomplished something with them when she had a training session. Pandora has been particularly feisty and she definitely thought the girl would be able to handle her own.
She stood on the roof top trying to decide which way to go. Currently she didn't feel anyone, not even her brother, so it would basically be a guess as to where she went. She decided a little ways southwest tonight and hopped to the next building.

Nathan Darrow was ready to get out of the house and do some bad guy punching. The holidays always made his father absolutely insufferable, with his cheerfulness, but now it was even worse. Tony was anxious about his wife being pregnant, and the stress seemed to be battling all the happy, which just turned him into a giant ball of annoying that would not leave Nathan alone.
So going out to power up and live some alter ego life was more than welcomed at the moment.
He climbed up to a roof top before powering up, because he wanted to be tough and strong in both forms and also just liked the challenge, then called on his senshi form when he was sure no one could see him. He felt an energy nearby almost immediately, though it was familiar and obviously White Moon.
Shrugging, not having anything better to do, he moved toward it. When he spotted Maia, he actually grinned.
"Lookie what I found," he called, from one roof over.

She'd moved just a little ways before she felt the energy of another white moon, stronger, not really what she was looking for, so she kept on. She quickly realized the energy seemed to be headed right for her and it felt sort of familiar after a bit and decided to stop and wait. Whoever it was probably wanted to talk and she didn't really have any problems with that. She hadn't seen a lot of people in a long time, nearly seven months.
She wasn't really paying attention while she waited, so she was slightly surprised at the voice, but only slightly. She turned to see Chaonis standing over on the next rooftop. She could help to give a bright grin, "Chaonis," she practically whooped and she was jumping over to the next rooftop and Chaonis would find himself hugged by the red head. Paris, Alex, Phina had met the same fate, and Zia as well though it was sort of reversed. She really missed her friends.
She gave a laugh, "did you like the presents from England?"

Chaonis was surprised by the hug, but Maia was one of the very few people in the world allowed to hug him without getting punched in the face or pushed off a roof. His instinct was to consider it, but he lacked any follow through because it was Maia.
That was just how it was.
He patted the bottom of her elbow, which was about as close to a hug back as she was going to get out of him, and still probably more than she might have thought she'd get.
"Dogby did," he grinned, though he shook his head and laughed. "I liked it well enough." He had rescued it from the dog, and actually had it in his room now, sitting on one of his shelves. He didn't let Tony into his room, lest his dad see that his son was getting sentimental.
Friends really were important to him, even if he was completely terrible at showing them that.
"Where have you been? Why'd you go away for so long?"

Maia hadn't been expecting a hug back, so she was a bit surprised my the pat but happy for it. It made her feel better about coming back to Destiny City. The comment about Dogby made her expression turn slightly surprised.
"Oh poor Dogby. I forgot about her. I should have gotten her something as well, but don't worry I will bring her something back from Paris when I go for christmas. I'm going with my two of my friends. I'm so excited. Glad you like it though. I'll get you something from Paris too, okay?"
She tensed slightly at question. It was a story she had told a bunch of times already, but that didn't make her want to talk about it anymore or make her any less annoyed when she did have to tell the story. They had worked it out, mostly, but she wasn't entirely over it.
"It was a vacation that turned into somewhat of a kidnapping. Well in my opinion anyway. I didn't want to stay in England, but I love my family and I'm too nice. Got in over my head again. What's new?"
Irritation was probably not an emotion her friends were terribly use to seeing on her, at least not as intense as it currently was. Arms having found their way to a cross position over her chest, lips pursed, eyebrows furrowed, glaring at the grown. She was obviously less than please. "It's somewhat complicated, but my parents found out my buttwinged little secret."

Chaonis shook his head. It would look like he was a tourist in his room soon enough, with his hidden gifts, but he supposed there were worse things out there than having a friend that wanted to get him souvenirs from their trips. He kept his room locked up anyway, so it wasn't like anyone would see him being sentimental.
Not like Tony, who kept his gift on the bookshelf in the living room.
Her answers didn't surprise him either. She always had been a softie, and she was not surprising him when she said she had been taken advantage of, basically, by her family. If one got all too caught up in being nice and saying yes all the time then they lost the will to even try to say no. Chaonis had built things the other way for himself.
No one ever expected him to say yes to anything, so they stopped asking.
She was standing much like he was, and he arched an eyebrow in surprise. She must have reached her limit for niceness, judging by how she looked so angry. He scoffed, though, and shook his head.
"Are you kidding? How did you let something like that happen? That's incredibly dangerous for them, and not to mention for you." He looked and sounded protective, despite his best efforts.

It was true she had let herself be taken advantage of and for a while she hadn't even know it, but when she realized really really realize her angry increased. It was hard not to get angry at the whole situation, one which she thought could have been avoided. Now her parents were angry with her and she'd pretty much told them she wouldn't be leaving Destiny City with the war going on.
She huffed annoyed because it was so stupid and she had been careless. She still couldn't ever remember seeing them or anyone else that night, she always picked somewhere deserted.
"They said they saw me while they were driving. I'm still not sure where. They saw me go into an alley. I don't even recall seeing any cars. But long story short they stopped to see what was going on and they saw me power up and jump onto a roof. It terrified them. They got suspicious after that about everything and I ended up in England."
She started to laugh, "its really the most ridiculous thing. I've told that story a bunch of times already, but I don't know. Right now it's just hilarious. I'm a lot like my parents, oh it's so weird."
She looked at Chaonis, "you're lucky. You don't have to deal with all that."

"That sounds a little ridiculous. You need to be more careful," Chaonis grunted. Like he was the kind of guy who could dish out commands like that.
He didn't even believe in the word 'careful', and barely knew what it meant. It might as well have been from a different language, considering he was the senshi of Danger. Being careful sort of went against everything he stood for.
But she wasn't Danger, so obviously she needed to be more careful.
He looked thoughtful when she told him he was lucky. He supposed she was right, he wasn't like Tony at all and kept himself firmly distanced from the elder Darrow and his new wife. He shrugged.
"Well, what are you doing now? Patrol? Or did you forget how to do that while you were on vacation?"

Maia rolled her eyes at Chaonis giving a small huff, not liking, Mr. Danger telling her to be more careful not one bit. Still she knew he was right and she was trying to be more and more careful. She'd was even toying with the idea of moving back to the big Jacobs place now that it was just her brother there.
"I'm being careful," she said willing her irritation to go away. She didn't want to be irritated with her friend, none of what happened was his fault. It was mostly her naivety, which she was much less now.
She frowned her face up at the question Chaonis asked and shook her head, "Of course I didn't forget how to patrol. Really I wasn't gone that long," she huffed.
"Tonight is one of the first nights where I'm just chatting. Since I've been back I got a new scar from Benitoite, but I think I also taught him a lesson he won't soon forget. Lately though it's training, training, training. I've got sparring matches and senshi low downs every night, even if its just with my brother."

Chaonis grinned at her teasingly, which was basically the only way he knew how to grin. That or with a wicked edge to it, like he was up to no good, but that was also kind of always present. He was an easy one to figure out, really, as he did not stray too far from his usual life goals.
Which were to annoy people, have fun, and kick some a**.
"Alright, miss show off. But how about we find some youma and just bash them into dust? Or maybe we can find a nega to knock around. I feel like a little bonding time is in order."
And what was a better way to hang out with a friend then going out looking for trouble and possibly, no, hopefully getting into a fight? Chaonis couldn't think of anything better, really, short of making some easy money or maybe something a bit more private, but for now he was content with going out and raising a little hell.

Maia rolled her eyes at Chaonis' grin, but couldn't help smiling herself. She really didn't think Chaonis would ever change, but she was sort of glad for that. She gave him a look that said she was clearly not pleased with being called a show off before arching an eye at him.
"Really Chaonis, your idea of bonding time needs work. Seriously, sometimes I think you need to get your head checked ... really youma dusting" she said trying really hard not to laugh, still she nodded.
"It's not like a I currently have anything better to do," she said conceding not really thinking about where the comment was insulting or not, "might as well get some work done. Lead the way Chaonis, I'm right behind you." Really she didn't expect to run into Chaonis and not get into any sort of trouble. It simple just didn't work like that, she was happy though, this time, her butt didn't need saving or kicking.

"Why does it need work? It's been fine so far, you're still my friend, right?" He rarely said something like that out loud, but he was feeling generous because he had missed her while she was away. He had only a few friends he could really say that to without them laughing at him or wanting to punch him.
Anyway, they were senshi. What was wrong with youma dusting between friends? It was a good way to hang out, as far as he could think, because sometimes it could be fun when competing or goofing off with a companion.
Better than patrolling alone, definitely.
The Senshi of Danger leaped off to find them some fun. It took a little searching, but eventually he found a youma in a nice residential area of town, wandering down the middle of the quiet, empty street.

Maia found herself blinking, “whaaa … of course I'm still your friend, that's a silly question,” she spouted pretending to be insulted although she was far from that. “Just forget I mentioned your weirdness. At least youma dusting is better than sparring, far better than having my bottom handed to me.” She gave a small laugh shaking her head, she far preferred non senshi bonding, like laser tag, and playing the piano or rather pestering Nate about it, but youma dusting wasn't terrible, even if it was messy.
Maia followed behind Chaonis finding a youma easily enough. It was quiet and for once the youma didn't seem to be causing any real trouble. Maia felt slightly bad for the fact that it was about to meet it's end, Benitoite's words making themselves known in her mind. She pushed the thoughts away and tried to clear her thoughts, there truce was broken and she had no reason to believe his story.

Chaonis grinned at her teasingly, nodding his head. It was not so farfetched to imagine people opting out of his idea of friendship, considering he liked to punch and mock his friends just as much as he did his enemies, just in a different way.
A nicer way? Kinda.
"Youma dusting is always fun, and sparring is too. I happen to like kicking your butt," though she was strong and could keep up with him, he wasn't going to correct her, The youma looked harmless to Chaonis, but they always did and he grinned at her and nodded his head at it in some sort of secret code that he hadn't actually given her the cipher to.
The youma saw them approaching and sat down, watching them as if it had accepted its fate. It was smaller, maybe the size of a dog, sitting on two large legs with two small arms tucked against its body. It looked vaguely dinosaur-ish, though its head was more like a dog than anything else. It was a strange little creature.
Chaonis was going to punch it to death.

Maia made a small frownie face, but then smiled, which turned into a grin and she shook her head. She decided to reply to that, the remark that came to mind was rather sarcastic and she blamed on years of being friends with Zia and probably Nate too.
Upon reaching the youma, she couldn't help but to c**k her head to the side, looking at it bewildered. Yes, she had seen plently of rather ridiculous youm, but this one really made her want to burst into a fit of laughter. "That thing looks ridiculous," she said giving into the impulse to giggle, "like a new dog breed gone very very wrong."
It was kinda of cute in that this thing is extremely creepy, but I want to cuddle it anyway, way. She straightened up, cut off her laugher almost effectively and looked to Chaonis and rolled her eyes a bit at the nod.
"Time to dust it I suppose."
