She felt almost like she was home. The smell of lotus on the water, the sound of bamboo- the only things putrefying it all were the ever present humans. This lush and beautiful land was not their own. It was slowly being defiled by them, ruined by their filthy, greedy hands. Salbei had taken her here for the fask of famine and she was not one to turn him down. She’d never tried her hand at the works of Famine, and it was a perfect opportunity. Yet still, having to see this place with humans- It sickened a part of her, that a place so much like her home would have human occupants. Perhaps once done, they might set up a nice lair here, enjoy a few things in this part of the human word. Provided the cleared out the human occupants first. As she brewed the toxin she added her FEAR into the mixture. "I honestly have no idea how well this shall work." She muttered offhandedly. "I've never attempted this before." She never had reason to.

Sal never had been a fan of the vermin called Humanity and had dedicated quite a bit of his life to new, creative and toxic ways to poison them. Killing them was always the goal, but if he could make them wiggle and writhe in agony first, well, that was a bonus. A large one. It made his job worth while, and every now and then he was compelled to share his heritage - and his experience - with someone else. Today he chosen a fellow Horseman (rather, Horsewoman) for various reasons: One, she was Conquest and had very little experience in the Alchemy that Famine loved; Two: she was fun to tease yet surprisingly insightful, and three: she was quite easy on the eyes. The Sage never did complain when it came to having an attractive sort of company, though it would always be something he kept to himself.
Besides, she agreed to go with him, which was the even bigger plus.
"Trial and Error, my Sweet Lady. It's all just trial and error. If we fail here, then we know what to do differently next time!" He was unfailing; even if their little task crashed and burned, well, it was in the name of learning. He may have been an Alchemist for centuries prior to becoming a Sage, but he was by far an expert on it; it was a science that nobody could grasp, no matter what they boasted.
"As long as you are having fun along the way~" The usually zen looking Salbei did look quite happy this time, absolutely loving his time with the mortar and pestle, crushing and brewing the ingredients he managed to collect. "Thank you for humouring me by coming, I know this is out of your...well, element." A low, rasping chuckle left his lips, amused by his own lack of better words.

She smiled a bit that that. Trial and error, she’d had quite a number of those recently. “I wish I could say that we of conquest make no mistakes, but then well…” Her hand motioned to the land around them. “Our greatest perhaps, that we have not taken care of the cattle sooner. But all good things come with time, effort and as I am coming to appreciate, cooperation. Bumps in the road. We simply have to smooth over them and make way for those who follow.” The toxin refined, Lan swirled the content, gold eyes narrowing as she tried to study it’s changes in reaction to her fear. Nothing as pure and something famine might make, but it would suit all the same. ‘So long as it completed the task they set out to do’. Tucking the toxin away into the sleeve of her robe, Lan looked up to the sage, curious. Fun was objective, yet she’d not voice it so clearly. In her own way, she was having a bit of fun. Killing humans, bringing about terror and FEAR into their hearts, what wasn’t fun about it? “I am enjoying myself.” Granted she was still unsure of her toxin and it’s power. “But the pleasure is mine Salbei, that you would invite me along. Out of my element or not, some parts of this place are rather enjoyable, once you get past the natives. Not to mention, it is my aim to learn the ways of the other clans like this, to see it in action if you will. So aside from learning and gaining insight, I have the benefit of a skilled horsemen of famine to guide me, and a land that is almost nostalgic.” Almost. Nothing after all would be as perfect or as grand as her now ruined homeland.
The sound of laughter, of children getting close, had Lan frowning. Still, they would be good to trying out the toxin on. Pulling it free from her robes the horsewoman gingerly held it out as a small cloud of FEAR, tinted gold drifted over a vehicle of sorts, the little ones inside all exposed. Yet. "There is little reaction. I take it the toxin takes longer than an infection might?"
