Invictus knew what would happen if he let Lan take his course without anything ‘extra’ he might as well have let her walk in a park. Conquest was simply trained to move in silence. A noble woman even more so. So when Lan had said she would attempt his course, Invictus had added a few extra rules for his cousin. A tea kettle, balance on her head. This was not the worst thing, but- on top of that, a teacup, filled to the brim. She could not look down either. There would be a challenge in her doing his course. Easy was simply unacceptable. She must go above and beyond, just like the students who also would be attempting the course. Naturally, he would watch over her progress, and if she failed? Shame, and she would start over again until she got it right.

Nervous. She was nervous. Invictus was watching her, judging each movement she made. Perhaps without his additional rules she’d have no reason to fear, but as it stood, the tea kettle and cup not to mention the inability to look down made it near impossible for her to move as she was so used to. Not even that far in and a snap of a twig underfoot. She could already feel his shameful stare.

Perhaps it was poor luck, perhaps it was that her cousin had some kind of lesson under it all he wished to teach her, or perhaps Lan was just ill suited to taking up Invictus’s challenge with such additional requirements. As she made her way further, there was a clatter of stones underfoot and as Lan herd a rush of air behind her- Eye closed, only to open to find she had been laid on her back staring directly up into familiar two tone eyes. They narrowed just slightly at her before looking away. She’d failed. As she got up, the tea kettle and cup sat next to her, waiting for her to try again.
