Situated at the edge of the Grove the Team 1 Training Ground features a wide variety in the local fauna. From a lightly forested area that quickly turns into thick jungle as one approaches the Grove side, to a pond on the other side, suitable for water jutsu. Like most of the village it is veiled int eh thin mist that grows thicker the high one goes. Signs of the previous Team 1 litter the field, a tree turned into the rough replica of the Taijutsu training dummy, mud where washed away grass once stood, and various plants grown for medical use, along with another tree used for target practice.

Shinzu sat atop of the tree he had used as a taijutsu dummy and looked out over the over the training ground. Every spot of the training ground held a memory, and it wasn't go to be his anymore. His team had become Chuunin, and all were moving on. Batsu was joining the Medical Corps, and Masaraku had already been picked out by the ANBU. Here he was looking out over a field of long ago memories. Memories of the ragtag team without a Jonin, people who by all rights shouldn't have gone anywhere. They'd made it through though, in spite of all the arguements, in spite of all the angry words, they'd made. Shinzu smiled.

There was the quiet shifting of fallen forest fauna under the boots of Tatsuya Kana. She was a young genin who had just recently graduated from the Kirigakure Academy and today was her first day getting to know her team. Kana had received instructions to meet at the Team One Training Grounds that day at 10 am, but she was showing up early. It was in her nature to do so.

The sun was casting broad, sloppy shadows across the ground as it continued to rise in the sky; fighting its way through the mist as best it could. However, the mist always won. It was always hanging heavy over the heads of the villagers and whenever one climbed high enough it would encompass their person and swallow them whole without another thought to it. Non-natives travelling through the mist often got lost and needed rescue. Kana had helped treat many of them of dehydration and like afflictions when they came into the hospital.

Though she was young, Kana had two ins to the hospital: she was highly talented at treating injuries already and her father was a prominent doctor there. As a matter of fact, that was where she was coming from. Kana had gone in early that morning in order to get some shadow time in before she met her team. What she had not expected was one of her father’s patients to spring a leak while he was stitching them up and effectively covering the medical staff in a shower of blood. While the child had managed to wash it off well enough, there was still the iron, metallic twinge of blood hanging around her. She hoped that her new teammates wouldn’t notice, but she was fairly certain that they would be able to if she could smell it too.

Upon entering the “official” training arena, Kana took a quick scan of the scene before her. It was a well used area, which was nice. That meant that there were defined zones for defined training. What she had not expected, however, was a man sitting in the battered taijutsu tree. Though she could only see his legs from where she was.

Kana wondered whether or not that was Sensei Kaguya that had summoned them, her and her teammates, to the training grounds that day. Her steps were naturally quiet as she made her way over to the man, though not sneaking in any sense of the term.

Good morning, sir! Are you Sensei Kaguya?

The blonde haired, goggle wearing girl wasn’t very shy when it came to meeting new people. Then again, she really couldn’t be when working in the medical profession. However, she did knew her place in life and in the shinobi pecking order, so she bowed at the waist with her hands clasped before her when greeting the stranger.

"Huh?" She said, mostly to himself, as he snapped out his memory trance. "Oh, no I'm not your sensei." He called down the the figure he could barely make out. Deciding he'd probaly been there a little too long Shinzu began to climb out of the tree. As it was a large tree, and he was in no hurry to climb down, it took a while for Shinzu to get down. "Hi, I'm Shinzu Akara." He said with a smile as he wiped his hands on his new Chuunin vest, and held them out to the girl. "If you saw the Chuunin Exams you might've heard of me, though I got knocked completely out in the second round of the individual fights." As he spoke his smile grew wider and friendlier. He was always of friendly lot, eager to meet and make new friends whenever he could. "I'm guessing you're one of the ones taking over of our old stomping ground?"

Kana shaded her eyes with her hand as she looked up the height of the tree, making herself slightly dizzy as she did so.

”Oh, no I’m not your sensei.”

There was an unmistakable smile on the girl's face as she waited patiently for him to climb down from the tree.

Well, at least I’m here before Sensei Kaguya, that’s a good way to start off my training.

Kana is one of those people who believes that if you’re not early you’re late; even if you’re on time. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule and there are always legitimate excuses. However, the blonde haired child didn’t have one of those today.

”Hi, I’m Shinzu Akara.”

The young girl’s eyes remained fixed on the man’s eyes and smile as he spoke. With her learned bedside manner, it was easy for her to stay appropriately focused when talking with anyone. Kana was also quite used to handshakes, so she firmly, though not crushingly, gripped the man’s hand in greeting.

”If you saw the Chuunin Exams you might’ve heard of me, though I got knocked completely out in the second round of the individual fights.”

Though their current exchange was brief, Kana already found herself taking a liking to the young man. He was blunt and honest. Most people would have left out the whole “getting knocked out in the second round” part due to wounded pride and the like. It was an admirable trait and she was glad that someone with that kind of honesty was climbing the ranks of the Kiri shinobi.

”I’m guessing you’re one of the ones taking over of our old stomping groung?”

Ah, so that was why he was here. This man was a member of the recently disbanded Team One that she had been newly assigned to. That was the way of the system though; you ride a team until they advance and then you put someone in their place.

”Hai, I am one of the new members of Team One, Akara-san. My name is Tatsuya Kana. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see anyone at the Chuunin Exams because I was working at the hospital when I wasn’t at the Academy. I’m training to become a medic.”

There was the enthusiasm of youth and the shining eyes of the dreamers that radiated from the child as she spoke. Yes, she liked Akara-san. He seemed to be a good person.

Shinzu shook her hand firmly, but not too firmly, he had to watch his strength, lest he hurt someone. She seemed to be rather fun loving and caring, the perfect person that he felt he could trust the Training Grounds to. "Ah, the former Medic of my squad is actually joining the Medical Corps. He actually studied at the Hospital a lot as well. His name is Batsu." He said, his eyes glistening slightly with memory. "He patched me up before, during, and after a fight then I can remember." He said with a slight laugh, being a taijutsu specialist could be very painful at times. "Here come with me." He said as he lead the girl over to the various herbs. "I think Batsu used these to create various healing sailments, so you might want to look them over. I couldn't quite tell you what each is and was used for though." He said with a scratch of the back of his head.

Finally, Shin made his way to the training grounds. He had spend the morning sharpening the ninjato that was currently strapped to his back, since he wasn't exactly sure what kind of hellish training he was going to be in for today. Regardless, he was just glad to be a genin, and glad he could finally get a chance to work his way towards more combat.

The black-haired boy noticed that two other people were already here. He assumed that the older man was going to be his trainer, but then again he was currently shaking hands with the girl. Therefore, he couldn't possibly be Shin's sensei. Regardless, he made his way over there after making sure that his standard-issue Mist-ninja garb was the way it was supposed to be.

"Greetings! I hope that I am not late."

Yep, that came off as being completely robotic and not at all sincere. He really needed to work on this whole "getting to know people" thing. Ah well, what was done was done...

There was a wide, happy smile plastered across Kana’s face as Akara shook her hand. It was a firm grip, but it didn’t leave her in tears or with the urge to pull away from him. Yes, good man.

”Ah, the former Medic of my squad is actually joining the Medical Corps. He actually studied at the Hospital a lot as well. His name was Batsu.”

Kana watched the man’s eyes as they seemed to light up with a sort of adoration for this Batsu person.

”He patched me up before, during, and after a fight then I can remember.”

The blonde haired girl giggled along with the man as he reminisced about some times that had apparently treated him very well. Kana could only hope that she had as good of a relationship with her teammates as Akara seemed to have.

”Here come with me.”

“I think Batsu used these to create various healing saliments, so you might want to look them over. I couldn’t quite tell you what each is and was used for though.”

Following him over the few steps to the heavily vegetated area, Kana looked on in amazement. So much to learn! So much to work with! Her hands were clasped in front of her chest as she stood on her toes, looking it over. The whole standing on her toes thing wasn’t necessary, but it was a habit of hers when she got nervous or excited.

Oh! What a wonderful learning opportunity! I can learn to make salves and ointments in the field so that my teammates will never be wanting!

As the man beside her scratched his head, she looked over to him with a smile and a slight bounce, her eyes glowing with energy.

”Thank you so much for showing this to me! I really do appreciate it! There is so much for me to learn from here…”

Her voice trailed off slightly as she looked back to the plants, just dying to get ahold of some medical texts so that she could begin learning everything about each and every one.

”Greetings! I hope that I am not late.”

At the rendering of the newest voice at the training grounds, Kana spun on her heels to see just who it was. She knew that inflection from somewhere.

Standing just slightly off from the two was one of Kana’s old classmates, though she knew him as nothing more. He stood over a foot taller than the girl, but he was also a few years older than she was, so it was alright by her. Kana was sure that she was due to hit some kind of growth spurt in the near future. Hopefully. She was already dwarfed by her brothers and her father, it wasn’t like her mother was short either. The blonde haired Tatsuya girl was bound to inherit some height from someone.

”Ah, welcome! You’re Furukami Shin, right?”

Kana realized that she suddenly sounded like a stalker. Whoops.

”We were at the Academy together.”

There, that was better.

”I’m Tatsuya Kana and this is Shinzu Akara. He was on the most recent Team One and he has been kind enough to keep me company while waiting for Sensei Kaguya.”

Her voice was light and happy, as it always was. Not only had she managed to come off like a stalker, but she also remedied that by mentioning the Academy, introduced herself, her company, and presented the fact that Shin was actually early.

Booyeah! Successful verbal exchange!

"No, in fact it seems you have arrived before your Sensei." Shinzu said with a smile to the new arrival. "Like Kana-San said, I'm just here, reminising before you all take over." Shinzu looked the new guy over, a weapon user, interesting. "Do you know how to use that Ninjato?" He asked, gesturing to the weapon strapped to Shin's back. "Never really cared much for using weapons, well beyond shuriken." He said, patting the large folding one tided to his hip. "My fists though..." Shinzu smiled again.

Shin bowed formerly to the older man, a bit annoyed that he wasn't his sensei. Still, he had expected that. He was going to answer the girl... but then Shinzu mentioned his ninjato. "I am well-versed in its use, yes. I plan to become well versed in every weapon I can find eventually."

Then he turned to Kana. This girl seemed alright. She seemed to know him, even if he didn't remember her. He didn't really remember anyone back in the academy.

"Well, I'm glad to meet you as well Kana. Hopefully our final teammate will get here before Kaguya-san. I'd hate to be known as the one who was late to training..."

He was actually happy that training would be happening. There was so much work to do, and he knew it would be forever before they actually saw any action... Especially now that there wasn't an invasion. He really should have been born earlier so he hadn't missed it.

Kana was glad to have company. She wouldn’t have known what to do with herself if she had been left to her own devices. Actually, that is a bit of a lie. She would have pulled out a scroll from that nifty little leg pouch of hers and started studying again. Her father had given her one on stitching techniques, some of which were more useful in the field than others. This meant that in the next week or two she was bound to be tested on her knowledge, so she had to read up and study up in preparation for that. However, people were a better alternative for now.

”No, in fact it seems you have arrived before your Sensei.”

Well obviously they had arrived before their sensei; Kana had made a point of introducing him as the man who was keeping her company until Sensei Kaguya arrived. At least she thought she had said something to that effect.

”Like Kana-San said, I’m just here, reminising before you all take over.”

It was odd to think that this place was rotational; that it didn’t truly belong to any one group. Then again, the title of Team One was just as rotational. However, the place and the name stayed together, so in a sense they were the same entity.

”Do you know how to use that Ninjato?”

At the mention of it, Kana’s eyes trailed to Shin’s back where his sword was latched. Oh goody! Maybe she would get a chance to practice stitching before she was actually tested on it! No, that would be no good since that would mean that one of her teammates was injured in training. However, if that did happen the girl would be there ready to spring into action!

”Never really cared much for using weapons, well beyond shuriken.”

This time Kana’s happy blue eyes bounced down to the man’s leg, looking at the weapon that he patted.

”My fists though…”

Ah, so he was a taijutsu user. How interesting. Kana herself didn’t have much of an interest in taijutsu. She was a little tall and lanky for her age, so the movements weren’t quite as they should be. No, instead she was more focused on medical ninjutsu and doton style ninjutsu. She was going to be the defender of the group – the last line of defense.

”I am well-versed in its use, yes. I plan to become well versed in every weapon I can find eventually.”

So that is what Shin is working on. He desires to be a weapons master. Well, he’ll have my support every step of the way. I’ll be there to pick him up when he’s frustrated and I’ll be there to patch him up when I encourage him a little past his abilities.

”Well, I’m glad to meet you as well Kana. Hopefully our final teammate will get here before Kaguya-san. I’d hate to be known as the one who was late to training…”

Ah! Kana panicked a little when the conversation switched back to her, but she was used to sitting back and observing like she would at the hospital.

”Especially on the first day. I think whoever it is should be alright though, there is still time before our meeting is supposed to start.”

Hm, his speech is very measured; not quite sincere. I wonder if that’s from a lack of interaction or a lack of interest.

Shin actually wasn't aware that he was measuring his speech. It was mostly due to him not being interested though. And then there was the matter of not wanting to come off like some kind of nutjob on the first day; it was clear that Kana was not exactly the most outgoing when it came to engaging and switching the topic to one about how much fun combat is would probably end up poorly.

"Yeah, you're right about that. I guess I just hate waiting around."

He rolled his eyes as he began stretching out his arms. He was starting to get bored already. He was here for combat and action, not to wait around for people to show up! But at least one of his teammates was here; it would have been far more boring if he was here alone.

Shin shrugged as Shinzu offered training. It was a tempting offer, all things considered. At the very least, it would be something to do. The question was, would Kana be interested if Shin accepted?

"I suppose it might be alright. However, I do not wish to impose upon Kana... And hopefully it won't anger our squad leader when he shows up. Otherwise you might be the one to lead us."

The young, blonde haired girl carefully watched her new teammate. She was always consciously aware of how the people around her acted because it gave her clues as to how she would treat them in the future.

”Yeah, you’re right about that. I guess I just hate waiting around.”

Kana’s lips pursed ever so slightly when Shin rolled his eyes. He was an impatient one, so she was going to have to be very proactive when it came to interacting with him. Then again, it also seemed like we wasn’t interesting in being the one carrying a conversation.

”Well, if you really want some work, I suppose I can set something up for you. It’s not like I didn’t run my Team’s training sessions.”

The child’s eyes bounced even further up as she looked to Akara’s voice. There was a slight twinge in her neck as she strained to do so. With working in the hospital she spent a lot of time peering over the shoulders of the doctors and over the beds of the patients, so it wasn’t uncommon for her neck to be hurting.

”Oh, yeah, enjoy your Sensei while you can set something up for you. It’ll probably be easier for you if you have one.”

Did Akara-san not have a sensei when he was a genin?

”So you want to a little while we wait?”

Wow! Was Akara really offering to train Shin and her?! The girl couldn’t help the apparently happy smile that spread across her pale cheek as she turned to attend Shin’s voice.

”I suppose it might be alright. However, I do not wish to impose upon Kana…and hopefully it won’t anger our squad leader when he shows up. Otherwise you might be the one to lead us.”

Was Shin really that worried about imposing on her?

”Oh, you wouldn’t be imposing on me at all, Shin-san! After all, the whole point of becoming a genin is to train and become better.”

It was actually quite sweet of him to be concerned about inconveniencing her, though it did seem like a silly thing to worry about since they were both shinobi.

”I don’t think Kaguya-sensei should be too angry if we were training to pass the time. I think if anything it should be a good sign of dedication.”

Kana had crossed her arms wand was chewing on her lip slightly as she considered the different possible reactions their sensei could have. Though, being that optimist that she is, the girl was hard pressed to find a bad side to it.

At that, the girl turned her attention back to Akara.

”Akara-san, I believe I speak for both Shin-san and myself when I say we would be honored if you would help us train while we wait.”

There was a bounce and a bow as the child spoke. Kana was hoping that Shin wouldn’t be upset or angered by her jumping in and accepting Akara’s offer, but she figured that he really wanted to train. It would be silly of them to sit around, twiddling their thumbs while waiting for their sensei and third teammate to arrive.
