Quote:
CONQUEST TASK

The virus is already made, yet it lacks a proper mode of transference. As is, the virus is weak, needing more fear honed to the area which you will be releasing it. The Viruses all appear as glowing balls of light, no bigger than a ladybug. But once refined, they will take a different shape better suited to where you’re headed. To refine the virus, focus your fear and will it to travel to various carriers. To travel, survive, and infect.

gaia_crown [ Stage 1 ]: Create Virus using area specific type. Each area previously rolled for has a type of virus best suited for that environment. Your task will be to roll to determine how much HP your virus has in that environment. All viruses start with a base of 3 HP.

Areas are broken up as thus:
Madagascar-> Insect/parasite born
New York-> Airborn
Russia->Water/Fluid born
India-> Animal/contact born.

Rolling 5 d4, each corresponding with it’s designated area. Max HP for ANY virus is 5.
1-> +1 to Parasite/Insect HP
2-> +1 to Air HP
3-> +1 to fluid/water HP
4-> +1 to animal/contact HP

IE: I was rolled for Russia. Rolling 5 d4, I end up rolling 1, 3, 3, 4, 5. This means my virus has 5 HP, the max. Remember, all viruses start with 3 HP. If you roll no zone bonus, better luck next time.

gaia_crown [ Stage 2: ] Slaying the Human.
An optional stage. Once your virus is completed, you may KILL one human. It can be done however you like, with your virus being accelerated due to your personal influence, or by your weapon, or maybe your mount just tramples them to death. But the heirs are allowing the killing of one for a good infection. Who knows, maybe killing the one might help FEAR harvesting later on? If you kill using the virus the progress is thus:

1- Rash, followed by blistering of the skin.
2- Puss filled boils break out
3- The body begins to bloat retaining liquids. Movement is painful and it becomes harder to speak
4- Bloating replaced by sweating profusely, chills, can’t eat or drink. Hallucinations of death and decay begin.
5- internal organs begin to slowly degenerate. It feels like someone is eating you apart from the inside. Hallucinations worsen.
6- The body seems to begin to recover, all symptoms vanish.
7- After the moment of reprieve, the virus strikes out in full fury, all symptoms beginning to mesh together. Pure agony rips through the human for several hours before their body begins to rot from the inside, killing them.

ONE HUMAN KILLING PER PERSON. Remember, at this stage, your goal is INFECTION, not full out death. Think of these killings as a taste of the fear your infection will bring.

gaia_crown [ Stage 3: ] Releasing.
Releasing it in the wrong area/medium for their location results in… a very low infection rate. Releasing it in it’s natural medium results in a mass infection. Some areas are a bit more lenient to a different form of infection than others as well. In the end, aim for making the FEAR flow.

Roll 1 d100. Your Virus HP takes -1HP for each release. Roll until HP of the virus is 0.
1: MASS INFECTION! You’ve managed to not only release your virus in the right area, but near a large number of humans. +3 FEAR
2-20: Wandering near a river, you place your virus into the ice water. Just down the river, you can see pumps of some sort… And even further down you can see farmland. +2 Fear if Water based, +1 if animal based, 0 if others
21-40: A group of humans are sitting close to each other, laughing and throwing cards down on a table of sorts. Placing your virus on the cards, their filthy hands spread it with ease. A few flies linger around their disgusting bodies. +2 for Contact based, +1 for Parasite, 0 if others.
41-60: The winds pick up around you, cold rain hitting your face. Setting your virus to the winds, a nearby group a children are busy at play. Even better, one already looks ill from something else. +2 Fear if Air based, +1 if water based, 0 if others
61-80: Garbage lines the street and you can’t help but scowl at the filth these humans leave behind. Still, maggots, flies- they are everywhere, and will carry your virus along the wind. +2 Fear if Insect based, +1 if air based, 0 if others
81-90: As you wander the area, you notice something a bit odd. Humans gathered singing something. Something far too happy for your tastes. One is even wearing a too bright and colorful woolly alpaca fur sweater. Their joyful behavior must end. Quickly finding the medium needed, you manage to infect them all, sending them into painful coughing fits. Let them try to sing now. +2 FEAR to ANY/ALL
91-99: Accidental Release! On your way to release the virus in your target you trip/slip/run into another horseman… and your virus goes harmlessly into a different carrier. One not designed for it. Ancestors curse it all. +0 FEAR
100: MASS INFECTION! You’ve managed to not only release your virus in the right area, but near a large number of humans. +3 FEAR

gaia_crown [ Collection: ] Once you have used up your virus, post the FEAR TOTAL at the bottom of your post in BOLD, RED, SIZE 16 FONT. If your FEAR total is 0, you may try again. Granted, the horsemen in question might get a certain look of shame….

How is Fear Gathered- their FRAGMENT naturally absorbs the fear they generate. When done, Horsemen are expected to return to the lair and pool the FEAR HERE

Life had not been easy since the destruction of their lands, between one setback and another there had been no real chance to settle, pursued even now by the hunters and desperately scrabbling for traction on the human world, on the fear that was rightfully theirs. He'd had Lily to keep him company, but for the most part, had stayed clear of the others, it was difficult to reconcile the differences between the clans, even in a shared space with shared intentions and much of Alva's time had been spent mixing up low quality inks to record their time laid low. If anything should happen to them beyond their previous misfortune, there would be something at least left behind.

When the opportunity came up to go out there and actually murder a human and harvest raw fear for their cause, he couldn't say no. And of course he brought Lily along, he didn't like doing anything without his sibling nearby to keep him company.

On arrival, he took in the warm clammy air, the human settlement he'd arrived at lined with low roofed houses. It was dark and they were all but invisible to the denizens. The virus in his hands was at first nothing but raw fear, but as he shaped it with long and delicate talons it took shape into something far more sinister than the faintly glowing point of light he had brought with him, feelers and legs shaping out of the air, taking form more and more until it became a faintly glowing mosquito like creature, patiently crouched in his hand.

Lily had other things on her mind as she arrived alongside her brother. How magnificent his power was, for one and how delicious it would be to dine on human again. A smirk curled across her features as she inclined her head at him, watching what magnificent creature he intended to create.

The result, a fantastic choice and she nodded with approval before turning her attention to her own ball of light. She pressed and pulled and wrapped her fingers around it. Molding and shaping the light with utmost care. When she was finally done she showed him the round winged creature. A cockroach to contrast his mosquito.

Alva looked on with apparent indifference as his sister shaped her vector creature for their virus, but contrary to this exterior coolness, he was fascinated by the nuanced differences in the procedure as she manifested it compared to his own. The result as far as he was concerned was no less exquisite, after all as artisans, no less could be expected of them both, creating was their true strength.

All that remained was to unleash the fear virus on the unsuspecting humans below.

He reached out to gently stroke Lily's arm. "It is no less than I would expect from you." From anyone else it might have been an insult, but from Alva it was a compliment, he held his sister to the same high standards he held himself. It was his way of saying she had met them.

"But before we let our creations wreak their merry havoc, we should take advantage of the kind allowance we've been given." a narrowed smirk creased his normally blank expression. "A single life for us to end each. A memento of this visit to this awful world."

The alleyway they'd arrived in was vacant and around them the humans slept unawares, dim and patient prey in their beds. Cattle resting in their stalls. There was almost an impossible number to choose from, should they opt to enter their homes, but he wanted something else, he wanted one of the humans foolish enough to wander alone in their arrogance, the pathetic creatures who considered themselves denizens of the night, predators when truly they had no idea how weak they truly were.

He strolled patiently out into the barely lit streets, golden horns catching what little light there was, the viral mosquito alighting on his shoulder, awaiting his command. Not far away from the twins there stood two young men, loitering and drinking under a streetlight. No doubt they felt they were safe in their small pool of light, an island in the darkness. Oblivious.

Low enough only Lily could hear him he said, soft and intent. "I think I will trample mine." There was nothing the conquest horseman savoured more than unleashing his mount form upon others, its wild and feral nature a stark contrast to the apparently iron self control he exerted normally.

And he did, summoning the large white stallion in the shadows, closing his eyes as the canter of hooves on the street made the humans look up in first surprise and then fear of the unknown, it did not belong here, it did not belong now. Stepping into the streetlight the stallion flared its nostrils and tossed its head in a clatter of ornate livery, eyes wide and rolling as the whites gleamed. It didn't give them a chance to react as it leapt, rearing up and striking with draft scaled hooves, coming down mercilessly upon skull and bone, again and again until its white fetlocks were stained red, pink tingeing its forelegs as the human went down with a cut off scream and gurgle.

In the shadows Alva spoke, breathless. "The other is yours, my dear sister." It looked like the dying human's friend was considering escape. It would be entertaining.

Lily smiled sweetly in reply to Alva's gentle touch and words of comfort... comfort to her. She understood exactly what he'd meant... and what he had not said directly. But at the subject shift she looked bewildered at first. Then giddy with delight. A human feeding, a for real human feeding.

It had been so long.
Too long.

She still composed herself. Looking on with thrilled excitement as Alvadra not only picked out the perfect prey for them, but utterly destroyed one and left the other absolutely frozen in terror. Delicious terror.

"I think I'll savor mine," she cooed affectionately as she watched her human begin to writhe in mental anguish. Struggling to understand what had just happened to the blood smear that was once their companion and the slow dawning horror that what had caused it - was still present.

He was running now from the massive steed that felled his friend. That is the incorrect predator to be concerned about. She mentally joked before taking off after him, bow already drawn back. She took careful aim and shot the poor creature in the back of a knee, causing him to tumble head over foot with an agonized scream.

She swooped in to watch him squirm. He tried so so hard to get up again. His eyes looked so white with terror as he started to crawl. So pitiful. You shouldn't crawl. She aimed and shot him in an elbow causing another cry of pain to choke in his throat as he fell to the wet concrete and grasped uselessly at his arm. Much better. He writhed while begging for mercy. What did this wretched swine know of mercy? Clearly nothing. If he truly desired mercy... she took aim again. His mouth wide with screams of agony. A wet thunk put an end to it. Mouth still wide, but now full of carefully trimmed feather fletching.

She lowered her bow and turned her head to peer over at Alvadra fondly as if to mentally ask him 'How was that?' with a subtle quirk of a smirk.

Alva looked on with absolute delight as his sister took a much more hands on approach to ending the life of the human they'd caught. It was a joy to behold, nimble arrows riddling the useless flesh until it ceased to be. It was a poetry and he almost wished he had his ink and something to write on that he might record the moment.

"That was the most exquisite thing my dear sister. You fight with such grace." He was in delighted awe, even as his mount form returned and before he dismissed it, took the time to nuzzle her with a bump of its huge head and a wuffle of hot breath, warm affection he would never dare to show in public.

With a jingle of loose jewellery, he turned and moved along the street to where he could see night time crowds around some shops and carts selling food, another island of light in the night that lulled them into a false sense of security, unaware of the fate of their peers.

He nodded his head in the direction of them and the mosquito patiently flew off in their direction. They would have no idea.

Lily bent over the body to curiously stare into the face of the creature that finally received its precious mercy, "They always look so oily. Even when they're dead." She reached out to grab the arrow still protruding from the back of the disposed man's throat before using it to wobble his head about and changing her voice a gruff and mocking tone, "Oh look at me. I think I is a predator. Eating so many greasy meat things. But I never realized I am greasy meat thing too!"

She released it to thunk back against the ground with a playful titter and offered Alvadra's steed a fleeting stroke on the tip of his nose. Laughter soothed into an affectionate croon before she too remembered they were here for a mission. Not all fun and games. Though the mission was really quite fun too and riddled with its own games.

She watched as Alvadra sent his vector off for maximum damage... she however looked more keen for subtlety... sending her cockroach off to a group of older men, gambling their lives away. So vexed by their game they never noticed the passing roach dragging its diseased thorax across their deck of cards.
