“The gleaming stars all about the shining moon, hide their bright faces, when full orbed and splendid in the sky she floats, flooding the shadowed earth with clear silver light. We are her children, and she the Goddess who grants us our sweet release. We are Lycan, creatures of the moon and night. In our blood sings the call of the wild, in our hearts calls the cry of exultation and freedom. Beneath the silvery moon we raise our own cry and it rings proud, primal, and true. We are the Children of the Moon, and beneath her we are truly free.”

“Death, so called, is a thing which makes men weep. We do not weep, for we are no longer men. We have risen above such paltry existence and become something more. Strength, bewildering strength and power race through our veins. We are called to a hunt far more primal than a mortal can ever understand. Ages pass, and we remain. For that humanity fears us, for even as they struggle to stay on, death will find them. They weep while we celebrate, for their passing is little more than a fading flame to be cast out by the breath of wind in the night that is our revelry. We do not weep in the eyes of Death, we have passed through her veil and become a Champion of the darkness she carries. We are wraiths, shadows, nightmares. They fear us, and we relish it, for we are Vampyre and since our creation fear has been our torch to light fires in the minds of humanity. How I love to watch them burn.”

Once upon a time, Heaven was home to a pure Heavenly Host. Not all could remain pure, and soon came the Fall. To the Earth came the Grigori, and soon came the Nephilium. The Clan Vampyre and Lycan tribes were the first Nephilium to be created, not born. As if by the ironic cast of fate, they were simply made to be pawns in the war Grigori kind had staked on their Creator’s world.

It began with a game. Of the Grigori four gathered: Camio, Asmodeus, Lamashtu, and Beelzebub. Their gathering turned to a joking matter, making claims as to who could bring the most destruction to the mortal world. Lilith came to hear of their games, and arrived with a contest. Whomever created a race who could plague Humanity the most, would gain herself and Lucifer’s favor, and a place among the generals of their army.

Of the four, three created parasites of the immortal stock. Lamashtu suggested to Camio and Asmodeus that they infect mortals with their blood to create a monstrous race to sic on humankind. Three families were captured and slipped blood from the Grigori. The dark magic within it corrupted the humans, eating away at their soul until all to soon, in a painful moment, it was gone. Three Vampyre Clans were created that night, before Sodom had fallen or Babel had been felled. The Succibi, eaters of the soul, were created by Lamashtu. Nosferatu rose, fangs unsheathed and keening for blood of humans, created by Asmodeus. Vetala, the auric eaters forever seeking pure energy were the creation of Camio. They would forever hunger for the humanity that had been taken. A single bite and drop of blood from these corrupted beings would spread the contagion of the Grigori blood.
Beelzebub chose instead, another route by which to infect humanity. He was the king of pestilence, and disease his forte. To the seven corners of the globe he traveled and spread his own Curse. Five Tribes were afflicted with disease, and from it came the Lycan. A bestial aspect of Beelzebub was contained with a Curse, and each tribe took on that aspect. Their humanity remained, but it was tainted by the animal within.

Each Grigori sent their creations out to wreak havoc on humanity. For years the Lycan and Vampyre killed without mercy. It was not until the Four reconvened that they were turned against each other. Their creators, convinced they had created the most successful race, called on Lilith. Each demanded their place beside the Mother and Lucifer. In a rage at such orders, Lilith declared neither race above the rest and left the Four. Immediately they turned to squabbling. Beelzebub declared the Lycan above all Vampyredom, and the rest turned on him. It was then that the millenia old war between Vampyre and Lycan began.

For ages it continued, until the Crusades when Lucifer called on both races to fight the Seraph and their allies. An accord was reached, and for the first time Vampyre and Lycan fought alongside each other. Until the Crusades were lost, and the Grigori banished.

Nearly wiped out, both races returned to their homelands hoping for a return of strength and remaining hidden from the Seraph and their Hunters. Instead, Plague covered the Earth. First in Asia, the Bubonic Plague stripped Vampyres of their food supply and drove Lycanthropes mad as it warred with the disease already cursing them. It traveled to Europe. By that time Vampyres were fleeing the country and Lycans had left to the Americas. With the Plague poisoning their food, the Vampyres began to fade.

The Vampyre fled, some reaching the Americas in the hopes to find sanctuary. Instead they found tribes of humans living alongside the Lycan. The Incan and Aztec worshipped the Jaguar Tribe, the Iroquois bowed before the Wolf and Bear, across the globe in China the Tiger Tribe grew in power and in Africa the Boar reigned. While the Vampyre had faded, the Lycan had strengthened. Already, war was beginning to brew again.

Finally, it broke out. The Wolf Clan of the Kahontsi Okwaho, living among the Mohawk and Croatan tribe, attacked Roanoke. The colony had been hiding vampyres, and it was the first time the Lycan had openly killed a human for doing so. The devastating murder of an entire colony held only one clue to the murderers: Coratan. The Tribe that had wiped out Roanoke forever emblazoned on a tree. The war between Lycan and Vampyre was rekindled, and has been waging across the globe ever since.
