A pale-faced boy with pale, ivory hair sat bent over a book in the library, studying magical creatures and frowning at a picture on the pages. He kept holding at length and then up close; squinting, and then not, as if trying to see something better.

Natsuko Neko At the same time, a lightly tanned boy with fluffy blonde hair was walking around the library. It was clear he was looking for something but it was also obvious it was not a book, not with the way he kept looking under tables, behind book shelves and in other darkened hidding places.
He rounded a corner and saw the other boy looking at the book and was about to dismiss him and go back to looking when he finally spotted his 'prey'. With a smile that was more of a smirk he walked over to stand by the boy. "Excuse me." He said pleasantly then droped to his knees and reached out for the currrently hidding cat.

The Hufflepuff kid glanced the blonde boy's way as he passed, but quickly did a doubt-take as he noticed the discomforting smile-smirk on the stranger's face. His brows furrowed slightly and he put down his book as the other spoke to him, only to find that the other meant to duck under the table. Curious, Jericho bent to peer down as well.

Natsuko Neko "Found you." The Slytherin said as he pulled out the now purring cat from the book bag under the table. Who's it was he didn't care and neither had his cat apparently. The cat blinked his eyes with a pleased look and swished his tail. "If you think it means you're it now then you're nuts. You cheat."
The boy glanced over at the Hufflepuff with the same smile-smirk. "If the bag was yours, you might want to mind the hair, Conrad is sheding right now."

The second year blinked a couple of times, perplexed. That had, indeed, been his book bag, but since when had that cat gotten into it? Maybe it'd been when he had been taking a nap earlier. Wasn't there a spell for getting rid of the hair...?
"You talk to it?" he asked, pointing at the cat.

Natsuko Neko (2012-12-06 10:08:45 PM) Natsuko: "Of course I talk to Conrad." The Slytherin said and scratched the cat's head, making the purring louder. "Why wouldn't I talk to him?" the younger boy's smile-smirk got a bit bigger. "Just because he's an animal doesn't mean he doesn't understand some of it."

Jeri smiled perplexedly, but tilted his head and reached out. "May I...?" he asked, wondering just how friendly this Conrad was. He also wondered how lonely this boy was. "I'm Jericho. Jeri," he added.

Natsuko Neko The Slytherin raised his arms with Conrad in offer. "Feel free, he likes the attention." He then turned his smile-smirk into a more polite smile. "Pleasure to meet you, my name is Alexander, Xander for short." He was sure his mother would understand not offering his hand in a hand shake if she ever found out seeing as he was holding Conrad.

With a small smile, Jeri carefully reached out to pet the cat. He'd considered getting a pet, but they were expensive and he wasn't sure he would have been able to maintain one properly. Besides, he knew his siblings would have gotten terribly jealous. Maybe if it served another purpose, though, like an owl, that might work out. "Why 'Conrad'?" He asked curiously, wondering if he was being too nosey. Then again, this guy really seemed to like his cat.

Natsuko Neko The two-tone cat sniffed at the reaching hand then pressed his head against it, demanding attention. "Because it fit him, it means brave, bold ruler or counsel, and he has never failed to follow me and mother jokes about him being my common sense." Xander shruged slightly, smile turning back into the smile-smirk.

Jeri grinned at that. "Your conscience?" he asked, reminded of the story called Pinnochio. "Get into trouble?"

Natsuko Neko Xander's smile-smirk turned into a return grin. "Maybe." He admitted then scratched under Conrad's chin. "There might have been a few... mishaps... though they were never my fault." He said in a fake serious tone. "It was all my older cousin's fault." The grin turned back into a smile-smirk.

Posted: Tue Dec 11, 2012 7:46 am "Older cousin?" Jeri repeated. That sounded nice that this first year had an older relative here at Hogwarts to show him the ropes. He himself hoped to do the same for his two younger siblings when they became of age. Still, for Xander to have been able to blame things on his older cousin, they must have spent lots of time together. "Close?" he asked.

"Older cousin?" Jeri repeated. That sounded nice that this first year had an older relative here at Hogwarts to show him the ropes. He himself hoped to do the same for his two younger siblings when they became of age. Still, for Xander to have been able to blame things on his older cousin, they must have spent lots of time together. "Close?" he asked. 3:25 PM
Natsuko Neko Xander rocked on his heels a bit and nodded. "Mmhmm, he's a year older then me." Which would lead to teasing about being 'old' when ever Rory tried to pull the age card. "Very close, neither of us grew up with any siblings and we're the only kids in the family except for some distant cousins we haven't met." 48 mins ago
Oh, so that probably meant this cousin of Xander's was Jericho's grade. He wondered what house he was in, but it would ave been rude to pry too much. "That's neat," he noted, wondering what it would have been to grow up an only child. They didn't even have to live with each other, so they must have seen each other a good amount - not too much, not too little. Sounded like they still had their fights like any other loving siblings, though. "He here?" 44 mins ago
Natsuko Neko Xander nodded again and shifted the purring cat in his arms. "He's in Slytherin and his name is Rory." He responded then gave a curious look to the other boy. "What about you? Any family here?" 35 mins ago
Jeri nodded slowly, thinking. He hadn't really come into contact with more than a couple Slytherin as of late and he didn't think either of them were named Rory. But then Xander was asking about his own family. He shook his head. "Two siblings at home," he replied. "Too young." "He here?" he asked again, glancing around as if Rory might be standing behind a bookshelf nearby. 32 mins ago
Natsuko Neko "Ah I see. What houses do you think they will be in when they come?" Xander asked. At the other's question he looked around as well then shrugged. "I don't think so, he said he was busy which was why I was playing hide and seek with Conrad." 17 mins ago
The Hufflepuff kid hesitated, not having really considered this seriously before. Cheerful and hyper Tatum...sensitive, emotional Jade...no, he honestly had no clue. But at least it wouldn't be him who would have to decide. That was what the sorting hat was far. Still, if going by family tradition..."Hufflepuff," Jericho guessed, shrugging. "Maybe." Closing his book, he smiled and put it back on the shelf. "Conrad's good," he remarked, still thinking that a backpack wouldn't be a likely place someone would look for a cat. Not him, anyway. "Who's winning?" 10 mins ago
Natsuko Neko "Ah, Hufflepuff is a good place, Dad was in it." Xander said, though didn't mention it was one of the reasons why his dad and grandad didn't always get along. "Yes he is and Conrad's winning, but thats because he cheats." The cat gave a loud purr and an innocent look. "Oh don't look at me like that, you know you cheat by sniffing me out." 6 mins ago
Well, it seemed like not -all- families kept the same house through the generations. That was pretty interesting. Jericho found himself wishing he could have been in a different house than his own father, but then he caught himself regretting it. His father had been a good man. It was his mother's death that had done him in. As long as Jericho didn't allow the same thing to happen to him, he wouldn't become the pathetic mess his father was now. Chuckling at Xander's claim that the cat cheated, Jeri guessed why this might have been so. "Small, too," he laughed. "More hiding places." Picking up his bag, he felt the fur that Conrad had shed over it, thinking. He held up a few strands. "Clues," he suggested to Xander. The Hufflepuff liked things to be fair, and at least this way the odds might be evened out. Or maybe Xander had already used the trail of shed fur to lead him to Jeri's backpack. How else could the boy have found his cat in such a remote hiding place? 1 min ago
Natsuko Neko Xander looked at the fur and nodded. "It helps from time to time but there are other animals here that shed too." It also didn't help that Conrad tended to shed his white fur more then his colored and there were a few white cats around. "But thanks for trying." His smile-smirk turned into just a smile.

Though Jeri couldn't see color, he could tell enough to know that Conrad was of two different fur hues and thus it would be difficult to tell his from another animal's. Tricky. It really seemed as if Conrad was contriving to cheat after all. "Drat," he muttered, petting the rascal cat behind his ears. "Cheater." 46 mins ago
Natsuko Neko The cat just purred and preened with a pleased look about him in response. "His collar helps him stand out a bit more though if you can catch a glimpse of it." Xander added with an amused look. Pink was an eye catching color after all, though when the color had first been ...changed... pink he hadn't been entirely happy with it. Ok that was after he realized it wouldn't turn back into blue and after Rory and him had finally finished laughing but still. 43 mins ago
Unfortunately the collar of Conrad's collar was not something Jericho could recognize, so he examined the feline's tag and looked all around his neck, wondering what was so unusal about it. "That's how?" he asked, holding up his bag to inquire as to whether his collar was how Xander had noticed him under the table in his pack. 39 mins ago
Natsuko Neko "Pretty much, he blended in well but pink stands out in shadows." Xander chuckled. Conrad got a sulky look to him at that. "Easiest way to spot him." 35 mins ago
Pink. A color. Associated with girls. Or so he was told, anyway. "Can't see color," he explained apologetically, gesturing to his pale eyes. "Colorblind. Why pink?" He was amazed to see the cat actually appear to sulk. It seemed Conrad actually understood more than Jeri had given the animal credit for after all. Then again, he -was- a wizard's cat. He supposed it shouldn't have been too surprising. 31 mins ago
Natsuko Neko Xander blinked in surprise. "Oh, sorry." He gave a lopsided smile before saying, "Rory and I might have been causing some trouble and the color happened to be the aftermath." One of the aftermaths but the chair turning neon green and glowing will never be mentioned again. 27 mins ago
Jeri shook his head. It wasn't anyone's fault; he certainly didn't mind. He'd never been able to see color in the first place, so it wasn't as if he even knew what he was missing out on. Still, he was all too familiar with magic mishaps. His hair had been the poor victim of an accident caused by his magic underage siblings. He shook his head disapprovingly at the mention of this trouble-making, but continued to smile. What fun was magic without a few mistakes? As long as they hadn't hurt anyone or caused any truly major, permanent damage, which he was sure they hadn't. Hogwarts was pretty safe that way. "Be careful," he advised. 21 mins ago
Natsuko Neko "Of course." Xander's smile-smirk showed up again. "I'm always careful." He said 'innocently', Conrad meowing and giving the same look. Both of them made the picture of 'Who me?' perfectly, clearly having it practiced. 8 mins ago
"Of course," the older boy repeated sarcastically, though he still smiled. Were all Slytherin like this? Jericho supposed he'd have to meet more to find out - not to mention get to know better the ones he'd made the aquaintance of. For now, though, he had to be getting to his next class. "Got to go," he told the boy and his cat, giving Conrad one last pat on the head. "See you. Maybe Rory too," he added, waving as he headed toward the library exit. 2 mins ago
Natsuko Neko Xander's innocent look turned into a grin at the sarcasm but he didn't say anything to it. "Goodbye." He said and waved one of Conrad's paws. Xander's eyes got a glint to them at the mention of Rory. Oh his older cousin would just love the fact that he had made a possible friend on Hufflepuff.
