Credit to robot kitten for this amazing idea! <3

One cold winter morning as you wake, you have found that someone has stuck a rolled up scroll underneath your door.

It proclaims of a Winter Festival that has been set up on the beach of the frozen waters of Lake Amafel.

Scroll
Come one, Come all.

.................. It is a Festival of Winter Fun!
Feast on food from all across the lands!
Peruse the wares of merchants from everywhere!

.................. Perhaps even the Legendary Dovaa Alchemist, Apicius herself will sell you her exquisite potions!
Or maybe you'd like something...more difficult to obtain? Well, everything will be sold here! Everything you could possibly want!
The lake is covered in several feet of ice! The perfect skating rink~ Or perhaps a friendly game on the ice is in order?
A Contest of Ice Sculptures is being held as well! Carve by magic or by hand! Only the best will receive a prize!

At the bottom of the scroll, it tells of a ferry that will run to a beach nearby Lake Amafel. It says guides will be on hand to ensure your safe arrival and that all races are welcome. If you must fight, then it is to be done outside the festival's borders.

(( You may choose to RP your reaction to this and your travel to the lake--Which can help get your 500 word requirement for growth--Or just skip to the festival itself. ))

As you arrive on the borders of the Festival, you are assaulted by the sounds, smells, and sights of so many people gathered in this snow bedecked land. The warm glow of both magic lanterns and regular flames light up the night and illuminate the lines of tents and booths. You can see many people are already here. There seems to be some wariness between the races, but no fights have broken out yet. The smells of meat roasting, treats being baked, cider and spiced wine being heated fill your nose. The sound of people; laughter, loud conversations, and music dance through the night. You can see a dancing square, mostly filled with Orderites and Dovaa, but there seem to be some Oblivionites who are cautiously approaching. The lake itself is filled with light, torches have been placed around it, as have braziers for people to warm themselves by. And all through out the festival are ice sculptures, some with only one person carving it, but others with a groups working together. So many types of sculptures: small, elegant, gaudy, large, impressive, mind boggling...it appears that the artists have all tried to out do each other. But it is from the market that you see so many people gathered. Food, weapons, potions, items, clothes, everything you can imagine is being sold there. And everyone wants a look at the goods from foreign markets, after all many have never visited the opposing sides markets.

With all of the hustle and bustle going about, what will you decide to do? So much to choose from. Where will you be this Winter Festival? That's for you to decide!

Kadryn
words: #33A7FF

That morning Kadryn rolled out of bed ready to go play in the snow. A nice thinket blanket of snow had covered her town, and Kadryn was ready to play to her hearts content wit him. Then she saw the scroll stuck in her window. Someone had tried to shove it through but hadn't quite managed it. Going over, she opened the window, grabbed the scroll and shut the window before too much of the cold wind could invade. As she unrolled it and read the elegantly written lines, she became filled with excitement.
"A.. Winter festival?!!! Yes! This is going to be so awesome!"
Running out of her room, she booked it into the kitchen, "Hey Ma, can I go? There's going to be a festival! With food and contest, and a market! It says everyone is welcome! I bet I can meet some really interesting people here! And we can take Fallon and.."
"We know Kadryn. Someone shoved a scroll under our window too." Kadryn's mother smiled as she pointed to their scroll lying on the table. "We were thinking of going as a family, but Fallon caught a cold and your father is at the smithy finishing his last order. So if you want to go, Talia and Tarlon are already there and setting up a booth. I think she wants to see if she can entice more people to come to the Wind Cafe. I don't mind you going, but make sure you check in and let them know where you are every now and then, okay?"
"Yay! I will Ma! Promise!" Kadryn ran over an hugged her mother's knees.

Later that evening, Kadryn had finished helping to set up her aunt's booth and had just finished baking a set of jam filled pastries when she saw many people arriving. She gazed in amazement at all the Oblivionites, Orderites, and Dovaas. She'd never seen so many different types of people together before.
"Wow.. that's a lot of people..."
"Sure is, pumpkin. Why don't you go out and skate some, Kadyn? I'm sure Tarlon can handle the cooking while I man the booth. Go and enjoy yourself. Kadryn's adopted aunt smiled at Kadryn as she whooped with joy and vanished into the massive mob of people. "Now all I have to do is sell these treats!"

ooc: feel free to stop by Talia's booth, they're selling hot apple cider/spiced wine, jam filled pastries, cookies, breads, and other baked products that can be eaten with bare hands or while wearing mittens. Just quote me in the main thread when you want to rp with her. Same goes for Kadryn.

IGNOTUS

Ignotus peered at the scroll in his hand that had previously been stuck under his tent flap probably some ungodly hour of dawn, and frowned.

What? Apicius was going to be selling her potions in this damn festival?

The hybrid snarled and crumpled the scroll in his hand.

It was always the legal potion sellers that got all the free publicity and all the ostentatious invites. Well, he wasn’t going to let that stand at all. They would know the name of Ignotus and acknowledge the fact the he was a hundred, nay, a thousand times better than some charlatan of a potions maker! What is some weak potion when you can use the very souls of the Dragons to empower yourself?

Quickly, Ignotus strode into the inner confines of his tent and began hastily packing all of his merchandise as well as anything he might make use during the fair. The hybrid had a plan. Oh yes…

________________________________________

Ignotus stared proudly at his work. The tent was finally up and what better way than to celebrate the incoming Solstice than to earn money and potential violence? Nothing, that’s what!

During his travel, on the way to Lake Amafel, the idea of the Knife Throwing Booth had come to him. Oh, the hybrid very much knew that since the start of the Wars everyone pretty much became familiar with knives and the skill of throwing a good knife was falling by the wayside seeing as fancy shmancy martial arts moves and magic was taking over. Not to mention those ridiculously sized swords.

Ignotus snorted.

Younglings were so obsessed with looking good and waving their swords around like little magical wand waving fairies. It was shameful really.

Tucking an errant strand of pearlescent white hair behind an ear, Ignotus fairly leered in delight at the work he had accomplished in such a short amount of time. His booth might not have met his usual exacting requirements in comparison to his Orb Seller’s Tent; however, for this paltry fair it was enough.

Ignotus quickly made his way back into his booth, strode towards the counter and plastered a big fat plastic smile on his face and looked out into the crowd of unsuspecting victims. He wondered, vaguely at the back of his mind, if anyone was even going to fall for his scam?

The tent is fairly small, a little ramshackle actually. The knives stabbed into the slightly skewed counter top were not exactly of good quality, slightly rusted for sure, but serviceable. Behind the set of knives is a dirty looking painted target made of canvas taped over hay. It seemed a little skeevy for a booth in such a bustling fair…but there’s something intriguing about trying your skills at knife throwing.

The proprietor however doesn’t seem like your usual Orderite or Oblivionite. He seems an odd mix of both and somehow finds it entertaining to leer at passers-by. Will you try your luck?

Quote:

Mechanics of the Knife Throwing Game:

Roll a 10 sided dice 10 times. (10-100)

Cost to Play: a few gold coins

You get 3 rolls once a day until *December 16, 2012* and for every chance you take to throw a knife, a suitable RP must be written to indicate you doing so. However it has to be literate and not just one sentence saying you threw the knife. This goes towards your RP requirements after all.

Prize List for Winning Numbers:

10 – Ignotus’ Special Brownies (you don’t want to know what’s in them)
    100 – 1 Ayrala Orb
    60 – 1 Kiandri Orb
    89 – 1 Ysali Orb
    22 – Ignotus’ Special Brownies

(If you win something, please post in the thread or PM any of the staff indicating your win and your prize. 8D Have fun playing!

Note: You don't have to engage Ignotus in RP if you want to play in this booth. You can just RP him as watching you dispassionately and maybe a bit creepy. )

Samril had almost decided to go out hunting Firani once more, but at the last moment had decided that going to this Winter Festival might be fun after all. Plus, he deserved a day off every now and then and it had been a while since his last one. And since he'd finally taken out a Firani on his own, he felt a bit better and less stressed. He could practice and dragon hunt any day, but going to a festival... well, that didn't happen often!

Along the way, the Dovaa wondered if he'd see Elleth. It had been quite some time since he'd seen her last. She was probably very good with her sword now! Just as he'd gotten better with his magic and the clawed gloves, which he'd brought along in their little pouch, though he had read the part about no fighting at the festival. He might just make a little side trip after a dragon if things looked boring. But he might as well go check them out, right?

As Samril arrived, his jaw dropped. He hadn't thought it would be this big! There were people everywhere! And all the vendors were calling out to the passersby, their voices overlapping one another as the Dovaa strolled through the festival. Wow, just wow.

The thing that caught Samril's attention was a knife throwing booth. Sure, the dude running it looked a bit creepy and weird and the knives weren't great, but it had prizes! And it looked fun!

So, Samril gave into temptation and paid the price listed, picking through the knives until he found one that appeared to have a decent point on it. All the knives could certainly have used a sharpening! But the Kiandri Dovaa found one that wasn't too bad and hefted it for a moment to get the feel of it. He'd never really thrown a knife before, but he'd seen a few others do it to show off. It couldn't be that hard now could it?

With that thought in mind, Samril lobbed the knife at the target.

While his knife hit the target with a soft thunk, it didn't strike point first and bounced off to the ground. Samril sighed, moving on. Maybe he'd try again some time later, but he really wanted to look around some more too!

Ignotus beamed, showing his slightly sharpened pearly whites at the incoming Dovaa. It had been pretty much a long boring wait at the early hours of the festival when he’d first set up the booth. Most of the hustle and bustle had been the Fair workers setting up their booths. Including the ones at the Wind Café he had mentally noted himself to visit ones there was a lull in his booth’s activities.

The Dovaa had finally reached his booth, and Ignotus eyed the young…man?-woman? –boy? Younglings really were taking the androgynous look into a whole new level these days; even had braided pigtails and soft golden almond shaped eyes. The hybrid looked down as the man/woman-boy laid down some gold coins on the countertop, not even bothering to greet him aside from giving Ignotus a weird look before heading off to the Knives.

The Hybrid leered even more as the Dovaa seemed to be a little put off at the quality of the knives he had provided for the games. There was a reason he used those knives. This booth was going to be a true test of your knife throwing abilities after all. If you can throw a rusted, wonky, weighted dagger and still manage to hit the mark. Well…you certainly must be top of your class!

Oh, it seemed the Dovaa had finally decided to try his/her hand at it.

Ignotus smirked as the poor throw caused the knife to bounce slightly off the canvass target. After this, people at the festival would take his booth seriously. He was giving away Dragon Souls here and his little precious babies weren’t to be given to stupid chumps at a Winter’s Festival. They had to be won by those you deserved them!

He gave a little wave as the Dovaa who lost a chance to win an amazing prize walked away. Now let’s see if he could entice more players before taking a look around the Festival himself.

Kadryn

As Kadryn scurried through the crowd she saw a game booth that people seemed hesitant to try their hand at but were starting to gather around. As she slowed down and came closer, she notice it was for knife throwing. While the knives look old and the booth not too pristine... the owner was an entirely different matter. She'd never seen an orderite so pale and elegant before.. but his eyes where what really caught her attention. They were pitch black with a pale teal blue iris glowing from the middle. And his wings were odd, instead of the pastel colors and feathered wings of others, his were black and leathery.

That's odd.. I did't know orderites could have that type of eye... or black bat wings.... She muttered to herself as she munched on her pastry and watched the tall golden dovaa fail at his throw before moving on. Deciding to try even though she knew she sucked at throwing, Kadryn approached. She paid the small fee and randomly picked a knife from the pile. Finishing her food, she took aim and threw with all her strength, maybe brute strength could make it stick in the target....
Kadryn sighed, while it had stuck, she'd completely missed the target. Oh well. At least it hadn't bounced... Turning to the odd elegant man, she asked;
"Hey mister, how'd you get your awesome eyes? I've never seen an orderite with the like before. They're really pretty!" She grinned up at him as she fished another pastry out of her bag to munch on.

~* Beware da voodoo . . .

What a rather droll day for Ekundayo. He was just sitting on the floor of his room as the empty, soulless eyes stares restlessly upon the dark ceiling. The voodoo boy was extremely bored. The silence was slowly driving him insane almost for he could start to hear a scream of a woman in the midst of the silence. For years it has plagued him endlessly with no clue at all on how it came about it. But he hates it so much. “Gah! Make da screamin’ stop!” He yelled. He muffed his ears with his hands firmly to make it stop with his legs kicking in the air. But seeing his vigorous kicking, one of his shoes slipped off from his feet and soared high up in the air and came crashing down hitting on directly to his head. “Ow ow ow!!!” And the poor boy curled up on to his side in a fetal position with his hands on his head to sooth his pain.

But all of a sudden, he heard a knocking on the door which made him curious on who it could be. Eku quickly slips his shoe back on and went up to get the door only to see a scroll tucked under the door instead. “Eh? What dis?” He said as he bends down to pick up the scroll and unraveled it to read the message. The longer he read it the wider his eyeless sockets were, extremely excited what it said. Apparently there is a winter festival near the frozen waters of Lake Amafel that everyone is invited to go. “Awe yeah mon! Dis is what Eku be needin’.” He shouted with joy but then he suddenly thought of something. His caretaker. The man won’t ever let him go anywhere that is fun at all since he has to be trained to become a fine Oblivionite warrior. But Eku has his whole life ahead of him of combat and bloodshed! So he wanted to have some fun over there and now. The voodoo boy found a piece of parchment paper and wrote down a lie of a note for his caretaker to read and hopefully he will believe it as he left it on the table, grab a jacket, and left.

Time has passed as the young Oblivionite has snuck upon the ferry that will take him to the festival. He’s chattering his stitches as he hugged his body warm and his legs are practically glued together as he tried to keep whatever little body temperature in him. “T-t-t-to cold . . . Eku be a frozen . . . fro—.” He couldn’t even finish his sentence! But he is silently cursing at himself for wearing a skirt in winter time. That is so smart of him. However, he seemed to forgotten about his cold sensation when the ferry finally arrived to its destination and the young male quickly got off his seat and began to move in hopes that it will make him feel warmer. Stepping off the ferry, he was introduced to the sweet, warming scent wavering in the air that had filled the young boy’s body with comfort and even more joy about the festival as he treks through the snow up until he can see the glowing lights at a distant. He smiled a wide, stitched grin seeing now the festivities of games that can be played (even seeing the familiar mista Iggy), food, shops, and a dance floor as well. And the first thing that Eku did . . . “Move outta de way!” He hurried to the nearest brazier to thaw himself from the cold.

Nah mon! Beware Ekundayo! *~

Ignotus sighed and drummed a bored tattoo on the countertop. Business wasn’t as prosperous as he would have wished and, it was true that he made the knife game a little hard, but not one had even come close to the target.

Incompetents the lot of them!

A flurry of movement at the periphery of the crowd suddenly caught the hybrid’s attention, allowing glowing azure eyes to trace the small form making its way through the bustle of the throng. It looked like a rather young apprentice Orderite who possessed scruffy short blue hair, a darting attention span and a rather tomboy-ish manner.

No lady this one was, that was for sure, Ignotus observed to himself.
His eyes slowly followed the young blue Orderite to his booth and watched the youth randomly pick a knife from the assorted pile.

Pathetic…didn’t even at least try to pick up the better knives. Got herself a rather badly weighted one too! How younglings these days expect to grow up as fine warriors? Ignotus wondered.

The tall hybrid stared as the little Orderite threw the knife with all of her small might and managed to land the projectile at the very edge of the board. It probably would have taken just a slight shake of the canvass to dislodge the precariously perched dagger.

"Hey mister, how'd you get your awesome eyes? I've never seen an Orderite with the like before. They're really pretty!", came the grinning exclamation from his erstwhile customer.

Raising a thing eyebrow, Ignotus looked at the blue girl and flashed a wide charming smile. Now there’s a nice thing to say, the hybrid thought to himself. Leaning closer to the other, Ignotus motioned as if to whisper a secret to her ear.

“Let’s just say I’m a little bit more special than your average Orderite.” He mysteriously replied. “You’ll probably never see another like me…”

The tall man, straightened himself back to his original position at the countertop and spotted a familiar form just disembarking from the ferry to the festival.

There’s that oddly cheerful Oblivionite he’d met sometime earlier….

"Its all set up...Finally,"
Apicius admired her work. The booth was right against her wagon, all full of lights and brightly colored fabrics. A tan cover that reached from the top of her wagon to the two pikes at the ends of her table. Red, green, and gold fabrics followed loosely against the white top, draping everything in sight. Little balls of ball hung from the wagon side, with little lights. Even in the front there were a few lights streaming across. Her potions were tucked away in the side of the wagon and inside of it, for now. All hidden away behind the wooden planks. Everything had a warm feel to it, just how she had to herself. Oh how she loved how it looked. Patting the counter, she smiled before taking one last look at her place. She still had some time before she could start selling, there were only a few people there anyways. She was well known, so the people can wait...Right?

Stretching, she reached a hand to the sky as she turned on her heel. Oh something horrible caught her eye. She caught sight of hybrid's tent. What a pathetic sight. Leaving her stall she moved closer towards him, slowly inching her way over to it. She knew of Ignotus, and what he did with the souls. She couldn't believe a person like him was even at a place like this.

Api moved closer and closer to his little event. A knife throwing rig? It looked so ridiculous and petty. A little attempt. Even the knives looked pitiful. Though Apicius always thought lowly of the hybrid. She believed his ways were beneath her.

Though, Apicius kept her distance from the tent, a few steps back did the trick. Her red and gold outfit, though being partially covered with a red cloak, still held presence against the winter tones around. She stayed back, watching the little orderite speak to him, and him back to her. She listened to the voice of a strangely accented one hobble away, though she still kept her green eyes on Ignotus. "My, my, what do we have here?"

Maslin sighed softly as he approached the borders of the Festival he'd been coerced into attending. The young boy had been perfectly content to stay at camp, curled up under some blankets with a warm drink and a book. It wasn't that a festival didn't sound fun but attending meant walking the fairgrounds for hours to enjoy everything worth seeing and Maslin hadn't been sold on the idea. It was impossible to tell if it would be worth it in the long run. With his family settling down in one place for the winter Maslin had become used to not traveling particularly far from camp without very good reason. He didn't really need anything that couldn't be provided by his family or nearby townsfolk and he'd never been the most adventurous sort.

Trudging across a layer of crunchy snow towards the hustle and bustle ahead Maslin thought back to earlier in the day when his mother had crossed her arms and sternly informed him that he needed to take a chance and to go have fun. There had been no arguing against that and the young hybrid had decided to make the best of the situation. Perhaps he could find an interesting mechanical piece for sale within his price range to deconstruct and study. The long winter would seem much shorter if the days could be spent fiddling with the inner workings of some strange new device.

Though his coin was going to have a hard time lasting that long given that a myriad of both strange and familiar smells were enticing him to trek towards the food and drink stalls. It was hard to resist the lure of potential delicacies from places he had never been to or heard of; just as it was hard to think of how to resist a toy or gadget he had never encountered before. The food was closer though and in this chilly weather that mattered a bit more for the moment.

Of course things might turn out fine regardless. Maslin did come from trader stock after all and was well aware of how bartering worked. It might yet be possible for him to acquire both types of things he wanted and perhaps even play a game or two. Games he could see himself becoming engaged with, and possibly also the ice sculpting, but skating and dancing, the pudgy boy would leave to those more inclined towards athleticism than himself. Thus far in his young life he'd yet to find most physical activities worth the effort you had to put into them.

Soon the young boy found himself in an area lined with booths filled with food and drinks. Vendors seemed to be in high spirits, cheerily calling out about deals and re-arranging their edible wares to look more presentable. Now came the hard part, picking which ones to go to. There were far more options that he had honestly expected and it was just a little overwhelming to Maslin. For the moment his was frozen in place, blowing out puffs of warm silvery breath into the chilly air as he tried to make a decision.

Kadryn had spent some time attempting to ice skate... She just couldn't seem to hold her balance. Those darn skates were so hard to use! She'd crashed into others, slipped and fell on her face, butt, and knees, and had run aground several times. Deciding to retreat from the slippery ice, she headed back towards warmth; rubbing her sore butt she limped back towards her aunt's booth.

"Gotta warm up and refuel! Maybe I'll drop by the odd Orderite's booth again and talk to him. Or see if I can Api! The scroll said she'd be here... Be nice to meet the first dovaa I ever met again!"
As Kadryn walked through the crowds, she watched the booth's occupants and tried to see what the competition to her own cooking was.Turning around, she walked backwards as she wondered if Talia had made a lot of sells.

As she walked backwards she crashed into someone who was standing still. Instead of knocking them over, Kadryn ended up bouncing off of them. As she looked up from the ground, she saw a pudgy pale orange-brown dovaa with a crown of horns staring at all the food booths.

Winter was here and with it came a bitter cold that made Elleth want to just bundle up a bit more than she already was. Not that her normal outfit with a set of white pants and a thick wool cloak thrown over her shoulders could be considered 'bundled up', it served her well. She was just glad that she hadn't been drafted into doing anything that involved water. She was glad that her chores for the day had only been sweeping, and that was taken care of as quickly as possible. Excitement lent speed to her movements as she put away her broom and pan and slung her blade over shoulder. The cloak had to be adjusted over the new length and in no shape or form disguised the oversized sword.

Not that she was trying to hide it or anything, but she wasn't going to go anywhere without it. That and the flyer said nothing about leaving your weapons at home, just that fighting wouldn't be tolerated inside of the festival grounds. To think, a Festival where all the races could gather and celebrate together unmolested and without prejudice. That in itself was mind boggling. Even more so than the fact that the flyer itself had made its way into the dojo without anyone knowing how it had gotten there. Boy had there been a stir when Master had announced that those who finished their chores or had the day off could go. There had been heated arguments as favors were called in or denied and Master had just sat back and drank in the chaos.

With a soft laugh Elleth waved to her Master as she passed him, and called out that she'd be going to the Festival and that she'd be back before morning. The elder Oblivionite bid her a good trip and to bring him back something nice. He knew she had pocket money from her parents and what little she managed to earn on her own as a combat tutor. It was more than enough to pay for her fill of food and drink and whatever trinkets and games she wanted to partake in.

The trip to the site was uneventful, and true to it's written word, there had been guides that had shown her the way. But knowing that there would be a lot of people and seeing them were two different things. People of all three Races were there and all mingled without a care. It was as if once they crossed the threshold that their grievances were shed like the hair on a shaggy goat come spring. It was amazing and just a bit terrifying.

Shaking her head Elleth stepped into the festival proper and nearly found herself swept away by the crowds. Huffing she waded through the throngs until she made her way to the edge and with a little bit of difficulty, slipped out of it. A quick glance around showed that she'd ended up near the ice sculptors. There were still unhewen blocks of ice, waiting for any of the festival goers to try their hand at crafting. Oh how she wanted to try, but looking at the others she'd have to go against she decided not to. On a good day her wood carvings only faintly resembled the animals she attempted.

A heavy sigh passed her lips before she could stop it. "Stop being so hard on yourself," She muttered, "You're here to have fun, not let your inadequacies get you down."

Ismiril had sneaked off, again, just after breakfast to avoid the scolding he knew he would be getting, for sneaking off just before dinner after raiding the kitchens for his supper. He'd gotten good at sneaking around and being unseen. It helped him avoid his bully 'siblings' after all. Siblings, Ha, those boys didn't know what it was like to have a real family. They'd all been too young to remember their own parents when they'd arrived, or so they'd said. Miri was the only one who actually had living family and he vowed to find them once he'd graduated from training and chose his clan. He didn't care about labels and social stigma and all that rot. He just wanted to see his Mummy and Papa and his baby sister and brother again. And damn any who stood in his way!

His family understood him. The Orphanage and the people in it did not. They thought him strange and unusual and not fit for being anything other than a weak timid healer that anyone could bully into doing what they wanted. He was no tool to be used and abused and given the barest tokens of affection to keep loyal.

To his internal disgust Miri felt tears well up in his eyes at his thoughts, tears that quickly froze in his lashes and against his mittens as he dashed them away. Thankfully his guide only thought that he was crying at the site of the Festival that had just come into view. It was breathtaking, the way the lights glowed softly amongst the throngs of people. It was a cheery atmosphere that quickly lifted Ismiril's spirits. He didn't have a lot of gold on him, only enough for his meals and maybe a few trinkets or games. In his pocket the Festival flyer lay neatly folded. He'd been the first to find it and the only one to be there. If things went well he wouldn't be running into anyone that he knew. Well, anyone that he knew that he didn't want to see. From his positing against a booth he could see quite a few Dovaa, all strange in their differences, yet familiar by those same differences. None looked like him, fair of skin and hair and vibrant in the purple of his eyes. He was still clanless.

Miri stepped around the booth, only to come to a standstill when he saw the paleness of the man who ran it. He was obviously a hybrid by his features and coloration and to Miri's dismay, he felt himself falling a little bit in love with him. Puppy crush, his mind whispered even as he edged closer to the leering figure.

Knife Throwing, the booth exclaimed, with it's crudely drawn bullseye and slightly rusted daggers. A few coins for a try. Miri was game if it meant spending a little time with the unusual man who reminded him of his little brother. For a moment Miri wondered what his sibilings looked like now. Would his brother look like this man, who seemed so at ease in his own skin, where Miri floundered and tripped and cried at every tiny hurt.

A blush stained his cheeks as Miri dropped the required amount of coins on the counter, offering a stuttering shy hello as he tested out each blade, not quite sure what he was looking for as he did so. But even to his untrained eye he could see that each dagger was different from the next.

Finally he settled on the one that seemed to be the lightest, and the threw it, aiming at the painted circle, knowing that he would miss it by a mile. He wasn't built right, nor trained for doing things like this. Or so he kept telling himself. The young Dovaa let out a sound of surprise when his dagger actually hit the edge of the bullseye, wobbled there for a bit before falling out with a soft plink.

"I-I hit it?"
He said, disbelief coloring his words, "I actually hit part of the target?" He turned large eyes at Ignotus, "I-I...." His blush came back full force and he ducked his head down between his shoulders as he mumbled something incomprehensible.

"Kav, wake up!" a seemingly excited Orderite called as he shook the bed-headed Dovaa from her sleep.

"W-what is it?" the sleepy Ysali asked, sitting up and massaging her eyes slightly before allowing herself to set the green globes sight on her handsome boyfriend.

"This letter was delivered just now and I think we should attend!" the Orderite's voice cracked with excitement as he handed over the flyer to her.

It took a moment for the Dovaa's eyes to adjust to the printed ink. She scanned the contents of the letter and a small smile grew upon her face.

"It's right here in Serenia, down by Lake Amafel! We can get there by taking the ferry and it will only take a few hours. I already ran down to the docks and the next ferry leaves in about a half-hour. So," he began, kissing the girl's forehead and standing up straight, "get yourself ready and lets be off! I'll make us a quick meal to eat on the way." the Orderite said with a grin as he left the bedroom.

The little Dovaa fell back upon the bed and laid there a few moments in the silence of the dawn. Look at how perfect he was, doing all of this just so the two of them could have a fun day in the snow at the festival. She just had to do her part and get herself ready.

The sweet aroma of pancakes swept into her nostrils as she walked down the stairs. As she entered the kitchen, she saw both Alex and Naomi cooking away at a meal that the two of them could enjoy on the ferry ride over.

"Mmm, it smells delicious." Kavanna's green eyes shifted from one person to the other as she made her way into the room. Now this is what she considered cooking.

She had made her way to Alex's side, who kissed her when she arrived. "Yes, it's amazing, thank you so much mom. We will be back later. You ready?" he said, first to his mother, Naomi, and then turning his attention to the Dovaa.

A quick smile and nod provided enough information that gave it away. Alex didn't want to leave without his sword, for he always wanted to keep Kav and himself protected at all times. Everything was set and the two left the Orderite home with their respective breakfasts and enough gold, provided by Naomi herself, to have a fun eventful day.

It took about an hour on the ferry to finally view the beauty that was the festival. The Dovaa wasn't about to shed her wool coat anytime soon. It was cozy and snug against her small frame and having Alex's arm around her helped immensely.

The ferry docked and the group of, what was mostly Orderites, departed onto the festival's shores. The sounds and lights everywhere was so intriguing to the couple. They held hands, and obviously would probably get quite a few weird stares from others around for doing so. It wasn't every day that people saw an Orderite and Dovaa couple. But, most of the people here weren't paying too much attention to what others were doing. Luckily for them, everyone seemed to be in their own little worlds.

The sea of faces allowed for little recognition. With so many people around, Kavanna knew she would probably see someone she had met before as well as meeting many a friendly, and possibly unfriendly, face.

A glimpse of someone dark caught her peripheral. Was that...no...it couldn't be. Did that b***h find a way onto the grounds. This was great...the exact opposite of what she wanted to happen. It was Elleth. Well, knowing that fighting wasn't allowed in the festival's grounds, maybe a little provocation was in order.

"Alex, could you possibly go find me something to drink, please? The food and drink stalls are over that way I believe. I'm going to go sit down over there a little while." she asked. He smiled and agreed, scampering off. This was her chance.

The Oblivionite was just walking aimlessly it seemed near the ice sculpting sector of the fair. Kavanna caught up to her slowly and tapped on her shoulder, a grand smirk on her face.

"Didn't have enough the first time I kicked your a**, so you had to show your face here, huh? Hoping for a rematch are you?" Kavanna said with a chuckle towards the end. Oh, how she loved to flaunt her power about. Obviously she didn't know how the girl would react to such an attempt at provocation, but she would soon find out.

The voice calling out to her was as familiar as the heat that made her blood start to boil in her veins. It was a voice that occasionally plagued her sleep and drove her to become stronger. It was a different sort of drive than the one she felt when Samril was around. That was a friendly rivalry, this one was one for survival. This Dovaa, this enemy of hers had nearly killed her. Samril had only given her bruises and taught her more about herself than she'd known before.

With Kavanna it was a black drive to put the girl-child into an early grave.

"What, can't get enough action without picking on people who have no interest in starting fights in a place that said 'Leave your Prejudices at the river'?" Elleth snarled back, mentally chanting that it was not a good place to fight, that they weren't allowed to fight here, and that she was going to be the bigger person and not spoil the mood for everyone else.

"Oh, I forgot, you'd have to know how to read first before you'd find that out." She spun on one sandal clad heel to face the obnoxious Dovaa. "But, as it stands, the world don't revolve around you and your giant ego. If you want your rematch you'll have to wait in line with everyone else. I'm here to enjoy an event that doesn't always happen." If Elleth had eyes they would have been narrowed in anger, but she didn't, and her sockets were covered by her bangs, so she made her displeasure known by the tone of her voice and scowl that twisted her lips.
