Last year, Freyja was a wee tiny one and could climb it. This year she has grown 3 times her size, doubled her weight and can kill our fake tree. O.o

Alot of the article was about keeping your kitties safe. :3

I remember back when my family had to tie our tree to the wall. lol It looked so weird and my grandma hated every moment of it, but hated a living room full of tree more. They knocked it over once and that was it, we tied the tree up and did until it was obvious they weren't going to knock it over. Though they still get a bit wily around that time of the year, free gifts+birthday hooray!

Orion thought playing with the ornaments was super fun...
He broke about three or four = n =;

This year he won't breaking any decorations.
I'll be more prepared this time around emotion_awesome

Lucky for me, Frodo holds no interest in climbing the tree; however, he is interested in getting fur all over the tree skirt which is something my mom doesn't like lol
Despite that, I don't think my mom is putting up the big Christmas tree this year because she doesn't know how her kitten and my sister's cat will react to the tree... well, mostly how the kitten would react.

We put up the tree assuming that Minstrel might need to be shut out of the lounge room whenever we weren't there to supervise him. He's already locked out of it overnight, so that would just mean shutting him up when we leave the house.

Fortunately, he hasn't taken all that much notice of it. He's been sitting under it, and tapped at a bauble once of twice, but that's about it. I'm still watching him though!

We're going to be getting a tree for the first time this year in about 5 years. Our kitten sassy is such a crazy little explorer I'm pretty sure she'll be in it as soon as it comes through the door so this will help me a lot to keep her safe. She is such a rambunctious little scamp..

My sister uses hook ornaments only in her tree, no string cast ornaments. That way, she can hang, close the hook, and it stays securely in the tree so if her cats (Zeus and Hades, Jaune's two sons) swat at it (which they hardly do), it doesn't get knocked off the tree and end up under a piece of furniture.

As for getting a real tree, my uncle recommended the first year I had cats to get a very prickly species of the tree. I forgot the name. Anyway, we got that tree which was so prickly that we had to wear a very thick hoodie and gloves to carry, set up, AND decorate. But because it's so prickly, the cats wouldn't climc up into the tree. It's a good tree to look into a very prickly species that if you can't touch bare-handed, your cat won't get into it.

And yes, that Christmas, Jaune and my late Bleue never even touched the tree. They stayed underneath it and played with each other than go after ornaments or attempt to climb it.

This Friday I am going to be Christmas shopping for Pearl. She'll be getting her own pet carrier with a fleece mat, some new toys, and a nice beef kitty food feast with Jaune.
