Nevada had returned back to her room with the bracelet dangling off her wrist. It didn't weigh much considering what it could do if Lex messed up on orders. Then again, it was like a sign. If you did mess up orders, it could cost everyone so much more.
She sat on her bed and twirled the thing, thinking more of what Lex had said. Obviously she had failed the mission writing. The focus had been Insanity the whole time, not about pithy following of orders.
She only had a few debriefings of insanity. What she knew was that the insanity caused just what it meant. A gray fog that clouded the mind, enticed and whispered along skin. She shivered as stopped twirling the bracelet.
And Insanity could effect humans, obviously by the talk of two hunters who had been transformed by it. The idea made her wonder, would her weapon form with her had the chance?
/Yes. If it was for your safety and mine then I would./ Leroy had taken to sitting in the corner of her mind until now. Furious with her for ALREADY putting them at risk for what? A hunter who Nevada had been sweet on for less then a month?
I need more friends here then I need enemies Leroy.
/So you offer yourself to the chopping block for some back street playboy...Sounds like a really good friend Pidge./
“It's a shame that you can't quite see what it means to have friends. Beyond the constant lonliness we have to face on the Island....I need resources, knowledge. I have two objectives-”
/One of them is stupid. You think she'd just be here without telling you? Hah! Your bonds make you weak, especially the one you are desperately clinging too. Why don't you consider her dead until proven otherwise!/
Nevada stiffened at the cruel words, eyes flattening as she pulled out the hairpin. Summoning Leroy to his gun form, she held it in her lap. “Do not presume to tell me what I should or should not think or do Leroy. You're MY weapon.”
/And you're MY hunter, I chose you stupid Wench, not the other way around./
She cocked her head at the weapon and frowned. “More like come to haunt me. I don't want to argue-”
/Too late! Don't you see what you've done. Open your eyes and really think about the consequences of your choice. That boy messes up and your arm is gone. Your dead. DEAD. How are you going to complete one objective, much less TWO when you lying in the ground because some a*****e messed up his orders?/
Nevada shuddered and remember the pictures, hands stilling on the tommy gun. What would she do concerning the bracelet? It was easy.
“Objective for a month has changed then, we keep Lex in line and get this stupid bracelet off.” She gave a small smile. “I have some faith in Lex, at least where its concerned. Faith.” She sighed. “Is it too late to be scared Leroy?”
/it's always been too late! Stupid Dame. Next time you think to offer yourself up like a Matyr remember that you need to think of yourself first. Your not so kind. I can see it in you.../
