Muka was feeling the familiar itch. It was the itch he got when he hadn't bought clothes in a while. The thrill of the Halloween season had worn off and now, even though Christmas was slightly recognized, he was feeling the post holiday humdrum. It was a buzzing anxiousness and with the strange JOY in the air, and the snow, it made the strix even more antsy to go out and BUY BUY BUY.

He'd promised Victoria to take her shopping and despite losing the bid for her during the auction, he still intended to keep that promise. The strix had taken a rather roundabout path through the dorms to find her room, mostly because he found the ghost dorms confusing, but the rotund boil made a point to tap his talons on any mirror he saw.

Perhaps he could get her attention? He did soon arrive at a door but he couldn't be sure if it was the right one. No harm in knocking right?

Christmasival at the orphanage was always special. Folks tended to give more during the "holidays", and although Halloween yielded the most donations, Christmasival was a close second; it was why she always looked forward to these holidays.

"Just a moment!" Victoria called out from the other side of the door, pausing by one of the mirrors in her room to make sure that she looked presentable before finally answering the door. She was surprised to find Muka standing there, but happy to see him, "Sir Muka! What brought you here today?"

Muka giggled to find he'd chosen the right door. He patted his belly idly and flashed the ghoul his usual grin. "I thought perhaps you'd like to go shopping!"

The strix bobbed lightly on his feet despite his size. "I was feeling the itch to visit the maul."  

[Dragain]

"Shopping?" Victoria echoed, eyes widening as her voice went one octave higher in her excitement, "Now?"

Shopping! Buying things! How exciting is that?!

Muka giggled again to see her so excited. "Well yes.. of course."

To some this may be time for class or studying or.. rolling in the snow. For Muka ALLTIMES were shopping times.

"Why not now?" He wiggled a creepily beckoning finger. Come along little spider.

Victoria was more than happy to follow; after giving a nod, she rushed back into her room to slip into a pair of shoes. Before long, she was out in the corridor along with Muka, eager to go on the promised shopping trip.

"Oh, the weather outside is frightful, Sir Muka," She commented, glad that cold did not affect her like it would if she possessed a living body.

"I truly wish it was frightful." Muka hooted, birdlike sounds thrumming in his version of annoyance. "It's almost joyful out." He'd helped in Christmas Town for extra money. The memory of the shiny, happy warmth made him rustle his wings with a shiver.

"How do you feel about flying?" The strix, outside of the dorms, leaned in devilishly to the ghoul. There was something conspiratorial about his tone. "That is to say.. hrmm.. on my back?"  

[Dragain]

"Joyful? Oh, but the snow is causing so much inconveniences, Sir Muka," Victoria answered, not quite sure how something like that could be considered 'joyful'.

"On your back?" Her eyes widened in surprise; she was about to say that floating's almost like flying anyway, so she was fine with it... However, she did not expect the boil to ask such a question, "Why, that would be improper, Sir Muka!"

Victoria must have not yet suffered the awful taint of JOY in her life. Muka actually seemed to be making a concerted effort not to touch the fluffy white dusting the sidewalks. He'd made that mistake on the first day, throwing himself into a fluffy owl bath of snow only to end up cheery, rosey cheeked and suffering a craving for christmas cookies. Ugh. UGH!

"Oh it isn't improper." He held up a spindly finger. "Just that hrrmm.. many who's feet rest on the ground are not so used to flying."

And within seconds, and the horrific sounds of stretching sinew and snapping bone, Muka transformed into his true form. He was much bigger and his hefty weight seemed to be more distributed. He was simply a hulking monstrous man-owl now. His hoo-ing voice seemed to emanate from his throat as he motioned to his back.

"Climb on!"  

[Dragain]

That's because little Victoria would rather frolic around the mirror world than in the snow outside... Although for a while after Spirit Week, she couldn't stop herself from humming Christmastival tunes.

"It isn't?" She asked, hesitating a bit as she eyed his back; she had seen the boil transform during their first meeting, so she wasn't as surprised as she was the first time, but she was still as impressed as before. Eventually, she nodded, clinging onto his back, "I'll trust your words, Sir Muka..." He had yet to let her down!

Muka shifted and hoisted the very light ghoul so she could cling to his thick, fluffy neck and settle right between his wings. After a short jog he took to the air and circled a bit higher over the campus so she could get a good look. Despite the debilitating effects of the snow, it made the Amityville campus look rather picturesque. After a nice gander at the view they headed to the maul. It was just faster to fly.

Even if Muka was constantly turning his head to see if the ghost was still clinging to him (she was just so light!) they arrived with little problem and the strix landed them outside of the festively decorated entrance to the maul. Garlands and lights twinkled in Halloween colors around the door and after a swift transformation back, Muka held it open for Victoria.

"After you!" He wasn't sure if she'd ever experienced the extravagance of the this maul during holiday time. The light smattering of snowfall they both suffered on the way in was making the strix a liiiiitttle bit more joyful.

Victoria was almost constantly in the air due to preferring floating around to walking around. However, she had never been up in the air this high before; ghosts just don't have that sort of flying ability... The highest she had ever floated was probably just up enough to be able to touch the ceiling of one of the rooms in the orphanage she grew up in. To see the ground from a bird's eye view was something new - and terribly exciting - for her.

"Everything looks like a tiny toy from up here, Sir Muka!" She exclaimed, forgetting about how "indecent" it was supposed to be, for a ghoul to be riding on the back of a boil. Besides, the snow falling on her face was making her a little giggly, and even happier than usual... It felt odd, but nice at the same time.

"Thank you," She beamed; having arrived at the Maul, she took some time to gawk at the decorations hung up all over the place before stepping through the door. Inside, there were so many people and so many flashing lights that it was almost overwhelming. She stuck close to her friend, not wanting to get lost; her other hand made its way into the pocket on her skirt, where she had stashed a pocket mirror; it always made her feel better to touch the surface of a mirror, "Everything looks so cheerful!"

"The holidays!" Muka escorted Victoria close. His own ghoulfriend was uncomfortable in the mall, never having a good experience with all the lights and sound. He was extra careful when it came to ghouls. "Halloween, Spooksgiving," not as celebrated but still present, "and then Christmastival. I find.." he squeezed her arm. "that this is the best time of year to go to the maul."

They hadn't walked far due to his not being sure where to take her. "Do you get anyone gifts for the holiday? Or should I simply lead us along?" His stomach grumbled and the strix snickered. "Or perhaps... food court?"

"Why is it the best time of the year?" Victoria asked curiously, nodding in reply to Muka's question, "Gifts were usually exchanged - little homemade things like cards and crafts... It is expensive to mail though, so I will not be taking part in gift swapping this year."

She seemed a little disappointed about that.

"If you are hungry, I would love to accompany you for some food, Sir Muka," She giggled, smiling at her friend; as a ghost, she doesn't actually experience hunger.

Muka made a noise when she spoke of things being too expensive. "Ah.. un un.." He waggled his fingers. "None of that talk, ghouly."

The strix steered then towards the shops instead of the food. "You go ahead and get them gifts. Don't worry about the postage!" He patted his chest and there was the sound of jingling seeds, a heavy pouch of seeds as well.

"It's the best time of year because of the hrrmm.." He tapped his chin. "Decorations! And food..." Muka giggled. "And gift giving. So don't be shy about picking things out. Remember what I said?" He'd be her sponsor.. or.. whatever.
