 Name: Michael Ukaliq
Nickname: Suinnaq (traditional Inuit name)
Age: 16
Birthday: February the 13th
Sign: Pisces
Gemstone: Bloodstone
Blood Type: A
Fav. Food: Fish
Hated Food: Overly-processed foodstuffs
School: Hillsworth Grammar School
Hobbies:
People watching - Living his whole life in an isolated community, Michael never had to talk to someone he hadn't known his entire life. Arriving at Destiny City and overwhelmed by a large and diverse population of strangers has ended up with him developing this new pastime, and the activity he falls back on when he has nothing else to do. There are so many weird looking people everywhere! Unfortunately for him, it ends up causing him trouble more than anything, as he tends to stare rather openly. Michael will deny this hobby, as he finds it embarrassing for people to know, but he's pretty awful at covering it up in practice.
Daydreaming - When alone by himself, Michael tends to drop back into the rich fantasy world of his own mind. While he originally tended to imagine life outside his small community, and the glittering world of tomorrow, now he is much more likely to populate his mind with the people he sees on the street around him. This has ended in him imagining large fantastic epics or spy thrillers starring a cast of 'that janitor with the limp' 'the shifty looking kid who i see at lunch' and 'the lady who runs that take-out on the corner'. By the time you first talk to Michael, he might know more about 'you' than you do yourself! Of course, you're probably not really a double agent searching for a death ray.
Carving - A skill passed down to him by his older brother, and to him from his father and grandfather, Michael has been carving soapstone since he was young. Sticking to traditional and simple imagery, he never deviates from the few creatures he was taught how to carve. It's more of a calming repetitive motion habit, and his collection of finished pieces have an almost assembly-line feel to them. Michael doesn't have any great passion for carving, but he does feel comforted by the motions and memories associated with it. He also feels that it is important to keep a part of his heritage alive, and pay respect to the people who are responsible for his existence.
Urban Exploration - The big city is a source of constant curiosity to Michael, just as much as the people in it. Sure everyone says it's dangerous to go out at night in Destiny City, but well, it's just like any other urban environment, right? And besides, he goes out during the day. On weekends mostly. Michael enjoys finding old buildings that no one else has disturbed, walking around the empty rooms and imagining what kinds of things took place there, and why it was that everyone left. He also finds the silence and peace relaxing, and a nice break from the sometimes overwhelming bustle of cars and people. The one thing that puts him at odds with most other urban explorers is he does not appreciate the graffiti art left by others, and aggressively confronts anyone else he finds in the buildings, believing all other people who lurk in empty buildings to be vagrants, vandals, or criminals.
Virtues:
Resolved - When Michael sets his mind, he never changes it. Swaying him from causes he's decided to take up with is an exercise in futility, as he attaches great importance to sticking with his original decision, and remaining true. This trait makes him a very loyal person, as once he has decided to stand up for or associate with a person or group, he will continue to do so through the gates of hell and back. Michael feels that throughout his childhood, he lost far too much by being uncertain and never taking action, so he is quick to stick to his guns and keep pushing despite any doubts. Seeing others pick up and drop causes as an idle whim frustrates him, and the one way to deeply hurt and shock Michael is to break or back out of a commitment you made to him.
Good Judge - As a side effect from his hobby of people watching, combined with a natural talent of observation, Michael ends up seeing a good deal of peoples hobbies, likes, dislikes, and basic personalities. For example, he's pretty good at judging what the guy who sits two rows ahead in history would enjoy doing, and how he'd react if you threw an eraser at him. He can also usually guess what would send him into a temper, what his more obvious buttons are, and what tasks he find easier or harder to do. This is only for people he sees on a daily basis, but he's much quicker to pick up on these things when he first comes into contact with strangers as well. However, Michael will sometimes whitewash or deny what he sees in people, if it conflicts with his views of humans and human nature, and he does not place very high standards on his own abilities as a judge.
Utopianist - While most people are satisfied with the world they are in, or believe that there is no where left to go but down, there are always those who believe that there are great things in store for the human race. Michael is one of those dreamers, and he feels utopia is just behind the door, if only we can find a way to open it. For him, it is only a matter of time until the right people just take another step up, and from then on the future is bright. Although rather uncertain about what this utopia will contain and how it will come to pass, Michael keeps this belief alive as the fate of humanity, and use it to keep himself buoyant through all his troubles. All he hopes is that he will be around when it finally happens, and that he can contribute in some way to this new world, or even help bring about it's happening.
Earnest - Life is a serious thing for Michael. Always fully involved in things with both his body and soul, he can't understand people who go through life in a half-assed manner. Michael will never waste time working something that he sees as unimportant or frivolous, but instead pushes himself hard and puts himself completely into everything that he believes in or views as worthwhile and important. Serious and devoted to his core, it unsettles and frustrates him when other people laugh off serious subjects. He can't understand how people can joke light-heartedly when there are so many things wrong in the world that they could be helping to solve!
Flaws:
Insecure - Always there nagging in his mind is Michael's feeling of not being good enough, not being worthy, and not being as important as everyone else. If he succeeds at something, it's probably not because he was good enough, but because of some other circumstances he was not aware of, if he fails at something it justifies his assessment of himself. He tries to drown this feeling out by focusing on other people, other places, and anything else other than taking time out to admit to and deal with the thoughts and emotions that cause this feeling. Because of this, Michael will panic over responsibly, constantly underestimate the value of his input, and wallow in his own failure long after everyone else has run out of patience with his self-pity.
Guarded - Though Michael is always taking in and prying into the lives of others, when people try and get to know him personally, he withdraws into himself like some kind of sulky turtle. Not wanting to share with people his life and thoughts, he will become elusive, grumpy or downright violent when pressed about his personal life. This links back to his insecure flaw, a small-town mentality of being suspicious of people who you have not known for years of your life, and a large amount of unwillingness to allow himself be open enough to be emotionally vulnerable. For Michael, his beliefs, hopes, and dreams are very important to him, and the thought of someone else dismissing or worse laughing at them terrifies him enough to give him reoccurring nightmares.
Self-sabotaging - It's subtle, but when things go wrong for him, Michael sometimes seems to be almost satisfied. In his mind, it's almost a certainty that his plans won't work out, and occasionally he'll assist in his own failure in small unobtrusive ways. This is a completely subconscious act on his part, keeping him in the familiarity and comfort of consistency, and relieving him of having to experience the pain and frustration of succeeding at something and having his hopes raised, only to be let down by a later failure. It also shifts the blame of any difficulties in his life away from himself, and to 'fate', validating his lack of effort to improve his situation. While Michael turns a blind eye on this habit, it's painfully obvious to anyone around him what he's doing to himself. However pointing this out tends to put him on the defensive and cause him to lash out, believing that he's being nitpicked and insulted for not 'being perfect'.
Fatalist - We have no choice in our future, everything we do is set in stone from the start. Believing this, Michael refuses to asses how things could have been changed or done differently, and takes failures without attempting to fix the situation. This prevents him from learning from his mistakes, and encourages him to repeat them over and over. Combined with his self-sabotaging, this drops Michael in an endless rut of failure in most of the things he tries to do. It also tends to have him dismiss success in himself and other people, ignore encouragement, and basically be a sour-puss downer.
Etc:
Small Town Boy - Michael has lived most of his life in a small village far beyond the treeline, where the only way in or out is by airplane. Although he never discusses his life there, it's clear to see it wasn't much of a success. In a last ditched attempt to get him to stop loosing at life, his parents shipped him down to Hillsworth, having heard about it from a globe-trotting (and rather frowned upon) relative. Being new to the big city, Michael often ends up looking like the, well the hick he is.
Captain Cold Tolerance - Born and raised in the arctic circle, Michael has an incredible tolerance for cold weather. When other people are hugging a fireplace, he's out enjoying the warmth. However in the summer he is often found face down on the floor, a few inches away from the AC. He has no idea how people can stand the heat.
Fidgety - Michael fiddles with whatever he can get his hands on, pulls at stray threads on his clothes, picks at his cuts, scratches himself, chews his nails, and tugs at his hair. There’s always low level movement going on when he‘s around. He finds it’s a good stress and tension reliever, and gets visibly upset and agitated when forced to stop.
Insomniac - Since he was young, Michael has battled with insomnia. This is mostly due to his refusal to allow himself to think about certain things (himself mostly), causing him to never relax his thoughts, even while in bed. He will furiously focus on whatever he can to distract himself, and counts sheep with such energetic determination that there's no way he's getting any shuteye. This ends with Michael coming across as not very mentally alert, due to the fact that the last time he got any solid sleep was probably around three days ago. Don't speak really fast to him, or you're getting a look of blank incomprehension.

Senshi: Sailor Ijiraq, Dark Mirror Senshi of Null ∅
Sailor Scout Attack: Null Ray Ijiraq bunches his hands together and extends the index fingers to form a 'gun', amassing a ball of black rippling energy above them, then fires it off at an enemy in a small ray. When hit, it makes starter level characters unable to use a magical attack/summon their weapon for the next 20 seconds.
Since Ijiraq has to go through specific motions before performing this attack, and has to aim it, it's pretty obvious where he's going to be shooting. Once he starts preparing the attack, he can't stop until he has fired off the ray. After releasing, Ijiraq has no control over the direction of the attack, it merely goes in a straight line in whatever direction he fired it in. Ijiraq can use this 2 times per battle.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Null Beam This attack targets three people. Ijiraq bunches his hands together and extends the index fingers to form a 'gun', amassing a larger ball of black rippling energy above them, then fires it off at an enemy in a large beam. The target hit with the beam is unable to use a magical attack/summon their weapon for the next 30 seconds if they are first or second level characters.
He can use this power 2 times per battle.
Eternal Sailor Attack: Null Pool Ijiraq wraps his arms around himself, then whips them out, releasing a vortex of black rippling energy, which expands to roughly 2x his height on the groud under his feet. Anyone equal to his power level or below who enters this vortex is unable to use any of their powers, isn't harmed by any ongoing effects, and any physical attacks feel like light slaps/pokes.
This attack lasts for up to five minutes, or until Ijiraq stops concentrating on it. His concentration can be broken, and if he moves from where he cast the attack, it dissipates. He can use this power once per battle.

Before Destiny City: Michael comes from a large family, almost exclusively dominated by girls. He has four sisters, two older, one younger. Along with his parents and grandparents on both sides, the entire family lives on and runs a carabou ranch in the tiny town of Kugaaruk. A noisy and energetic family, Michael gave up competing with his sisters for space and privacy when he was pretty young, and spent most of his life being their unwilling target of sibling tough love.
Living at home, Michael was quite reticent, the kind of kid you didn't notice was in the room. Despite having such a large family, he struggled to connect with anyone, as he never pushed himself forward and everyone else tended to forget about him. School wasn't much better, as his dreamy habits and serious personality ended up putting him in the target path of the class bully. Following through his family's general philosophy of 'deal with it yourself', Michael never asked for help from teachers or his parents, and ended up eventually snapping, attacking the other student with his lunchbox one day as they both arrived at school. The other kid ended up needing stitches, and Michael refused to explain why he had done it, resulting in everyone putting the blame fully on him.
After being labelled as a problem child, Michael's relationships with his teachers and classmates deteriorated to the point where he was eventually withdrawn from the school and home tutored by his grandmother on his mother's side. She reinforced Michael's sense of duty to his family and heritage, and helped him become interested in the world around him. However, after she suffered a stroke, Michael was sent back to public school where he continued to fight with the other kids, until his family decided to send him off to Destiny City, hoping that Hillsworth would cure him of this wild and inexplicable behaviour.
Due to the overly female atmosphere of his family, Michael isn't really shy or awkward around girls, as living with four of them has killed any notion of them being some kind of special creature. Much more awkward around boys of his own age, he can't help but feel that since he was brought up with a bunch of girls, he's missed out on learning the secrets of how to be a bro. In addition, his constant harassment at the hands of the boys in his previous school has caused him to be very wary and defensive around other men - especially 'alpha' males. Thanks to living on a farm though, neither he or his sisters were ever afraid of hard work or getting their hands dirty, and they spent far more time dealing with sick animals and repairing fences than throwing tea parties.

I'm so tired of giving up. I am so tired of giving in. You wake up knowing things should change, not knowing where to begin.
