Remember that Greek myth about how the gods first created Man? It was Prometheus and Epimetheus that were assigned to fashion the creatures that would live on Earth. Before they started, they were given a handful of gifts to divide evenly between Man and Animal: strength, fur, swiftness, feathers, courage, and the like. Epimetheus, the more impulsive one, gave all of the gifts to the animals, leaving none for Man. Man was to be left bare to fend for themselves in the world.
Or so the world thought. What Man didn't know was that there was a select handful of humans that were given some gifts. Every generation, a new handful of humans are born, possessing the spirit of a certain animal, and with that spirit, the animal's gifts. These humans were unofficially known as Umbra - shadows.
However, these gifts come with a great risk. The animals within the Umbra are wild; if the human is weak, then the animal will consume them, and the animal's mind and instincts will take over. These berserk Umbra threaten the human race, and it is up to the rest of the Umbra to stop them -- if they are not consumed themselves by their animal's will first.

What do regular people see?
An Umbra has two forms. The first one is the human form, that looks like any other human, and the one thing different is that they look similar to their animal. Only when their spirit animal is active do the more observant people see just the faintest glimmer of an animal silhouette, as if your character was standing inside a projection. Other Umbra only can clearly see your spirit animal. In the second form, the spirit form, your character takes on a ghostly form of your spirit animal. Anybody can see that, so you would have to be careful not to use it in public.
What's the spirit form?
An Umbra's spirit form is when the human sinks completely into the animal's spirit in order to access their full strength. In this form, you would have the same capabilities as your animal and more, with the advantage of your human mind and strength.
However, the spirit form comes with a risk. By allowing the animal's spirit to take over, you become vulnerable to the animal's instincts. If you aren't ready for a fight, the animal will take over completely.
Exactly how much of the animal's gifts do we get?
You're basically a watered-down version of your animal. As a human, you have all the gifts your animal possesses, but not to the extent they do. Any increased sense or trait that they have, you have as well. If your animal is a grizzly bear, you possess an enormous amount of strength, and have a great sense of smell, but you can't exactly lift cars and punch holes into buildings, and have horrible eyesight. Unfortunately, if your animal is a bird, you can't fly, but you can jump really, really high, and run really fast. If your animal is a fish, you can't breathe underwater, but you can hold your breath for long periods of time.
In your spirit form, you have all the gifts and strengths your animal possesses, plus the advantage of your own human mind.
Are all berserk Umbra insane?
They're not necessarily insane. As said before, their human mind has been taken over by the animal's instincts. They're basically an animal inside a human body. Those make up the majority of the berserk Umbra.
There's a small percentage of Umbra that keep their human minds when the animal tries to take over. The human has a taste of their ferocity and bloodlust, and willingly causes havoc to satiate it. These Umbra, with the capability to think like a human, are the most dangerous of all Umbra, and are the heroes' biggest problem.

I'm not looking for much, all I want to see is some identification. All that's required is a full name and picture. Do use posting colors. They're pretty and I like them. But please, no eye-smarting colors.

Use real people for these people. I don't want to see any inhumanely sized eyes and nonexistent noses and mouths.
