I'm Muslim, i don't celebrate Christmas
rolleyes So, most Japanese aren't Christian yet they celebrate Christmas.
Christmas is sort of the "if you don't have anything better to do!" holiday. I know plenty of Jews (albeit not terribly devout ones) who celebrate Christmas too, just as I know many atheists who celebrate the non-religious aspects of Christmas, like being with family, and sharing gifts and good food. Those are traditions almost anyone can get behind.
That being said, a devout person of faith who
isn't Christian probably isn't going to celebrate Christmas, given its religious background. A non-believer is going to have an easier time overlooking the religious aspects of Christmas and treat it as a time to enjoy time with family and friends, but if you follow another faith, adhering to the tradition of a religion that is not your own doesn't make much sense.
Question: Do Muslims have a winter holiday? Jews have Hannukah, and then there's Kwanza (does anybody really know what Kwanza is?) and Christians obviously have Christmas. Is there anything vaguely similar in Islam? The only Muslim holiday I know of is Ramadan, and I only have the very foggiest of foggy ideas what that's about. Come to think of it, I don't even know what time of year it's observed. Is it in the winter? (Please excuse my ignorance.)
