Melvin waited for Jordan to step in before looking around. They were in a dark room, probably one of the cells. The place was made of a rough, dark stone, glistening with salt water. Distant dripping from the ceilings and walls made puddles that caught the torchlight from all down the hallways.
"Alright. There are going to be guards around here. We need to avoid them and a lot of traps. It's basically a lot of luck." Luck Melvin tended not to have.

Melvin was quiet as he stepped out of the cell, looking around. "So far, so good." He whispered to the Sun behind him. "Let's hope our luck sticks around. These guards are a real pain." And they were super gross.

Jordan summoned Ferros as soon as they stepped through the portal. This was a confined space, but not quite small enough to keep him from carrying Ferros; that made him feel a bit better.
"I don't see or hear anything," he said cautiously as they exited the cell. The area seemed quiet, if damp and dim.

"Yeah, we shouldn't push our luck. We need to head to the center where the main artifact chamber is. Watch out for traps. The maze also moved around. Try and stick close." He told him, and started to move quietly but quickly.

There was a certain logic to the maze; once you had a sense of it. After the first few turns, it felt strangely natural, and Jordan followed the pattern half-instinctively, skipping some turns, taking other. "This way, I think," he said thoughtfully.
The maze opened up before them, and revealed the center.

Meandering in the wrong direction. Melvin turned around when Jordan called and moved over. Once again, the Lifer's navigation skills were lower than sea level, and he tried to brush it off as if he knew all along that this was the way when he moved to step alongside the Sun.
"Alright. Watched for traps. They're set around before you hit the artifact chamber." He informed him, and slowly started to move forward.

"Deathsweeper," Jordan grumbled, and moved forward cautiously, checking each section of hallway carefully before he walked through it. No traps triggered; it didn't actually help his paranoia. In his experience, if you hadn't sprung any traps ... you hadn't sprung any traps yet.

Melvin moved just slowly through the room and winced when a spear shot up from below and clashed hard against his shield. Breathing deep, he looked over at Jordan. "Not the worst one I encountered."

"Damn. You okay, dude?" Jordan checked the next turn, the next section of hallway, and edged carefully forward. Once again, nothing shot out at him.
That's good, right? Ferros asked.
I have no idea.

Melvin smiled at Jordan, waving him off. "It's fine. Good thing we have shield though." As if to jinx him, he moved forward and was suddenly dropped, falling down as he set his hands against the walls of the small shot down until he hit water. Gasping, he felt something swim underneath him and called out. "I'm out!" He cried, knowing that Jordan was best either going ahead or leaving.
With that, Melvin was gone. Again, his trap luck was terrible.

"s**t!" Jordan dropped to one knee, leaning over to peer down into the chute, just in time to see the blue shimmer of a pendant teleport. We'd better go back, he said to Ferros, and tugged his own pendant out of his shirt.
A moment later, the maze was empty again, the sound of the portal fading away against the walls.
