The sun had just begun it's decent from the height of it's path when Zelcion had approached his brother, Tythoss, and brought him off away from the others. He led Tythoss down a narrow winding path through the jungle into a small clearing just barely big enough for four kalona to stand abreast or two to face each other. It wasn't an ideal location with all the vines hanging down from the boughs of the moss covered trees but it was private. From his observations they were alone save for a sleepy ocelot dozing off high in the branches. It would do unless Tythoss found some fault in it.

Zelcion crossed to the far side of the clearing and backed himself up so the he stood with all but his forelegs, chest, and head on the outside of the clearing. There would be less complaints about how cramped everything was if he made some space. "I imagine you're wondering why I brought you all the way out here." He said managing to sound almost as condescending as Lord Hellmaster. "Well, that is because I have a beautiful..." His words trailed off as he noticed something light settling on one side of the path that they had taken. Yseult had followed after them. Zelcion smirked. She was such a good and loyal servant. It was a shame that she was no mazoku.

Clearing his throat the light maned kalona continued, "I have a beautiful plan. One that is all but guaranteed to make Lord Beastmaster proud. I thought you might like to share in my glory and help."

Tythoss couldn't help but be curious when his brother whisked him away from the others. They were normally a fairly sneaky bunch, but Zelcion seemed to have a little more than the usual mischief on his mind. His brother's mare was following, but that was nothing unusual. She was a loyal creature. Tythoss was even a little jealous of his brother's luck in acquiring such a useful minion.

He ducked his head to avoid some low hanging vines as they stepped into the clearing. It was not exactly an ideal location, but that made it all the more interesting. Zelcion wouldn't bring them to such an awkwardly cramped location if there wasn't something interesting afoot.

"Go ahead and spit it out, then." His tone was caustic but the grin he gave with his wide and eerie split mouth was amused. His brother might be pretentious and annoying sometimes, but he could be great fun.

Xellra was suspicious. He hated his brothers almost more than he hated kirin. They were always whispering to each other and smirking at him. Sometimes they hid their derision but mostly they did not. They were the pure kalona mazoku. He was half. It was never something he had thought about until they had driven it into his mind. Now, he dealt with it every day. Many soquili would give their lives to protect their family members. Xellra was not one of them.

They were up to something today and he wanted to know what. He sneaked through the jungle after them, hooves falling as lightly as he could make them. Though he would never admit it, it was his kirin blood that probably allowed him to be a little more graceful and quiet than Tythoss. He didn't think they noticed him as he followed. He kept his distance and even let them fall out of sight from time to time before catching back up again. When they stopped he did too. He lurked in the bushes, barely able to even see them under the dense mat of greenery. He wasn't going to be able to hear anything from this distance. He needed to get close somehow...

"As you know there are silly herds scattered around. Herds that promise to make things run less smoothly for our dear Lord Beastmaster and Lord Hellmaster." He said deciding that it was best not to try his brother's patience. There were times when he wanted nothing more than to torment his siblings or get them into more trouble than they could possibly handle, this was not one of those times. Now was the time to be serious. "My idea is that we could go about making sure that they lose the will to do anything to interfere. It won't take much. They're far too pathetic to need any real effort."

Zelcion grinned at his brother opening his purple, cat-like eyes wider to give himself a truly dangerous look as opposed to his usual harmless grin. His mother had mentioned once that he reminded her of his father because of it. That made him feel more powerful, like he was somehow more mazoku then either of his siblings just because he was more like his father. "If we get enough of the herds to crumble then there won't be anyone left to stop us."

"Herds... is that it?" Tythoss wasn't impressed just yet. The concept had merit but he could already spot gaping flaws of logic. It was unlike Zelcion to leave those things out. Tythoss had to wonder if he had really thought this idea through. "And how exactly are the two of us..." He glanced back at Yseult and amended his statement. "How are the three of us going to destroy an entire herd?"

They could take out a family 'herd' of three or four soquili. That wouldn't be too hard. But a full sized herd? They'd have to pick off one member at a time for years to even make a dent in some of the largest ones. Zelcion had to have some sort of trick or else it was a complete bust. "Are we going to give them the plague, or what?" He liked that idea. Disease could destroy large swaths of soquili far better than the most vigorous murdering spree could.

This was no good. He was too far away! Xellra couldn't hear a word they were saying. He couldn't even see their faces from this angle. He frowned and started picking his way slowly closer to them. He moved on an angle, never moving directly forward. At a time like this he almost wished he had been born half-flutter. Being able to shrink would be amazing for spying.

He stepped on a twig wrong and it snapped loudly. He immediately ducked but wondered whether it was fast enough. It was possible that they were so involved in their conversation that they wouldn't notice, but he also could have just blown his cover right there. Glancing downwards, he noticed movement at his hooves. A giant snake as thick around as his tail and twice as long slithered between his legs and then away. Good. Maybe they'd just think a snake was creeping around out there and not their half-brother.

Zelcion chuckled. Perhaps he could taunt his brother just a little bit. The situation did call for it. "You're thinking too simply, Tythoss. We don't need to decimate an entire herd to keep them from striking. That would be a waste of energy." He gave his brother a small grin. The idea of bringing disease to them was a fascinating aspect but it wasn't what he had in mind. A snap off to one side caught his attention and he turned to look, seeing nothing he turned back. "There is a saying I have heard before, 'cut of the head and the body will flounder.' We don't need to kill all of them, we only need to remove their driving force. We get rid of the leaders and they will panic and destroy themselves."

He waited in anticipation for Tythoss's response. It wasn't likely that his brother would be heaping praise upon him but it could be just as satisfying, if not more, to watch him try to come up with a clever response. If he wanted praise he would just get it from Yseult later one way or another.

Yseult's ears twitched at the sound of twig snapping not too far off. She glanced at Zelcion. He didn't seem bothered by it but then Zelcion could be over-confident. With a low hissing sound she stalked off into the bushes keeping her head low and her wings tucked tight to keep herself from being noticed. Before long she saw what Zelcion had clearly missed, a spy.

Yseult opened her wings with a cracking sound before snapping at Xellra. The stupid halfbreed was trying to listen in on Zelcion's private conversation. She wouldn't have it. She might not be a mazoku but she was at least pure-blooded kalona. "Get moving before I tear a chunk out of your leg." She snarled baring her teeth. Where he moved too she didn't really care so long as he cleared off. She would tell Zelcion what had happened after he was finished.

Furious, Xellra bared his teeth at the sudden intrusion. It was her, the little whelp that hung off Zelcion's tail all day. He hadn't come here to fight but wasn't going to run away from one with his tail between his legs. It had been his own fault for not being quiet enough, but he hated her and her sharp ears for it nonetheless.

"Maybe you should get moving instead," he growled back to her. "Your wings are damaged enough as they are. It would be a shame if they had more holes ripped in them, don't you think?" How he would love to maim her and leave her flightless. Neither Zelcion nor Tythoss could fly. She really ought to match with her master.

Tythoss sneered at the rebuke. Thinking simply, was he? How like his brother to accuse him of being simple-minded after not giving him enough information to be otherwise. It was just Zelcion being Zelcion, but one of these days he was going to crack his brother across the face and see how smug he was then. "We could show them personally what happens when you cut off a head." He laughed at his own cruel joke, imagining faces distorted in horror. "We could even-"

Voices. He turned and glared through their privacy screen of foliage. What was happening out there? "What is Yseult doing?" He couldn't get a clear look, but there was definitely another soquili out there. The pitiful creature was looking for death if it interrupted their meeting.

Yseult didn't so much as blink at the threat. "I imagine some day down the line I'll earn myself more. Why you think you'd be taking any part in tearing them is beyond me." She smirked. In a lot of ways, Zelcion had been rubbing off on her. Of course, she had never been above goading an enemy. An angry opponent was a stupid opponent, but the flavor of her jabs was changing.

She didn't allow time for anymore banter, it wasn't going to get them anywhere. Almost without warning she snapped her wings forward to strike at Xellra almost like an angry goose. She took special care to pull them back as quickly as she brought them in to avoid any bites that she could. Yseult wasn't aiming to cause damage, just to beat him off.

Zelcion started laughing along with his brother. It was a beautiful image, the members of the herds screaming as they decapitated their beloved leaders. Unfortunately he didn't get much time to revel in the imagery as the sounds of unhappy voices filled the area. Upon hearing Tythoss mention Yseult's name Zelcion joined his brother at the edge to look out into the jungle. He could see Yseult plain as day but she was attacking something else. A flash of blond hair made him scowl.

"I do believe we're being spied on by a certain halfbreed." He muttered before exiting the clearing and making his way towards his servant. Sure enough as he drew closer he was able to make out the form of Xellra. "Well, well, well, didn't your mother teach you that it's rude to spy? I would think kirin were more polite than this. Yseult, stand down for a while."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:47 am

Xellra's face and shoulders stung from where Yseult's wings had struck him. More than that, he was furious at the insults being lobbed at him by Zelcion. Even when he expected this sort of treatment he still couldn't keep it from getting under his skin. If he wasn't certain that his father and grandmother would be displeased with him he would have rushed Zelcion right there and tried to tear his smirking head off.

"What, are you feeling shy?" he quipped back, though still obviously seething. "Next time I won't bother you when you're having your cuddle time with Tythoss, don't worry."

"Funny." Tythoss grinned. He loved the way Xellra squirmed. Though he respected his father Xelloss, he couldn't imagine what had compelled him to procreate with a kirin. If that wasn't bad enough, the pathetic offspring of that joining thought he had the right to call himself a mazoku. It was laughable, something that Tythoss liked to remind Xellra of whenever possible.

He flexed his tail thoughtfully. What would be a suitable punishment for interrupting their meeting? There were many things they could do to him that wouldn't leave a mark for Lord Beastmaster to notice. Fur could cover all sorts of bruises.
