China had ended up a substantial victory, but the white-coat human parasites would be on to him if he continued to show up in a single place over and over, and there were only so many he could fight on his own. So he had chosen another location, far across the sea. This time, Mahir mixed his deadly potion under lush foliage and tall trees in a vast rainforest. It seemed wrong, to him - he was used to a barren landscape where survival was a mark of strength. How docile and unprepared these humans must be, who lived in such a paradise? They didn't suffer the plague of famine... yet.

The color of the liquid in the vial had finally begun to shift, the process accelerated by the FEAR he fed into it. Perfectly opaque, liquid gold, the same color as his crystal. Every drop too potent a poison to go to waste.

Mahir glanced up, and his many shadowy arms followed, reaching up to grasp the branches as he hopped his way into canopy and on the fastest path toward the nearest human civilization.

The cloud of disease shifted direction, passing over empty farmlands. Where there had been trees once, there were only stumps and mounds of dirt. Unfortunately, there were no humans there to be infected. Mahir began to chew on the edge of his cowl anxiously.

Well, this was disappointing.

Emergency mission meant something important: the chance to get off the island for a while. Facing danger to life and limb in the process - well that was part of the job. Jordan had just nodded to Melvin as he arrived at the portal; no time for casual chat.

They'd come in practically on top of the creature; Jordan waited for Melvin to get in a shot before moving in closer to summon and swing Ferros. The huge hammer impacted with a satisfying thud, and Jordan backed off again. "You know this one?" he called to Melvin.

As the hunters approached, Mahir let out a feral hiss, exposing several rows of sharklike teeth set inside his skull.



The precious toxin was capped again. Temporarily.

"Missstake!" he hissed, reeling back form the blows. But he was nothing if not a very capable medic. The shadowy hands that grew from his back multiplied and wound around him, briefly engulfing him in darkness. He emerged revalitized and ready to fight.

"What for it. They like to run." He said, aiming again as he stepped closer and narrowed his eyes. "Bunch of parasites." He hated them, even worse now that they were in the human world. He hadn't been able to see much of how Halloween affected normal people, but now he felt more and more justified.

He aimed and fired, smiling as the egg hit with a Splat!

Oddly congealing blood oozed from cuts and changed colors under the horseman's dark skin. These same hunters had defeated him before - he wasn't going to let them do it again, at least not without giving them something to fear even without his presence. He was a horseman- he was proud- and he was small and nimble, as Melvin had suspected. He moved low in a billow of bloodstained fabric and let the shadows lash out like cobras at anything that got too close. Two glowing yellow eyes hovered under the cloth hood, remarkably like the eyes of the lost grey monsters of the haunted house. Mahir darted between the bared weapons, sidling close enough to the trainees that his murmured words were heavy with the stench of rotting flesh on his breath.

Jake was first. So much exposed skin, Mahir couldn't resist. A quick corkscrew motion to try and leave a familiar hook-center spiral slashed into the hunter's arm as he passed, laughing. Maybe it would take, maybe the damage would simply be absorbed, but it would be familiar soon enough. The spiral symbol of the horsemen. "Hah. Sssuch big talk from sssuch pitiful creaturesss. How much longer will you live, hunter? Does it haunt you that your existenccce is ssso brief, ssso easily undone? It just takes one mistake -"

Melvin was regarded with a pointed tongue moving across bloody lips hungrily. Several shadowy arms reached out in passing to take hold of his face, the soft exposed flesh. Those shadows were flat and felt like cold metal against his skin. The claws were sharp little hooks attempting to draw blood as they swept across, like so many papercuts. "You will be nothing but an empty corpssse, bloated with maggotsss and rot. But not before each and every one of your brave companionsss fallsss before you. It is the fate of cattle to be ssslaughtered. You fight the natural order."

He stepped back, trying to get space to aim as the horsemen dashed about, going low to the ground towards them and lashing out with shadow limbs morphing about it's body. In an instant, the horsemen rushed to appear before him, the rank smell of dried blood, rot, and decay a warm heat on his face as the creature reached out with it's materialized hands, holding his jaw in it's cold embrace, firm and sharp like knives, and hissed it's message.

Eyes wide, he tried not to breath, and he pointed his gun as his body shook. Before he could say anything, Jake lashed out, leaving Melvin the ability to stumble back and fall. Fumbling with his gun, he quickly shot without aiming, panic rushing in to get the thing away from him.

An emergency mission. Once he got the notice, Deryk was on the move as soon as he could. He had to work hard, despite the heavy things that were weighing him down.

When he arrived on the scene, a battle had already broke out. Horsemen business. Good. This he could deal with without being held back by his morales. And that, he was rather thankful for. He didn't know what this horseman was up to exactly, but it probably wasn't good.

The death trainee looked around at the others for the moment, then tried to position himself to get ready to strike. It was hot and muggy here, but he didn't have time to complain or whine... at least not verbally.

But at least it wasn't the sahara. He shuddered at the very thought of that.

Biting his lip, he just tried not to think too hard about things, and went in to strike the horseman.

Only, he wasn't really there. He was just dreaming that he was. Carry on.
