War Tasks:

To cause strife, to cause chaos, that was the their way. Some wars needed a bit of a push after all. To make people see enemies where there are none at all. To make them go from loving to hating, trust friend to most devious rival. War’s battle call can sweep across the land, sending all who hear the calls to kill and fight. Now on this day, the day of war, it is time to let lose the hound and have them howling. Each clans member of war is taught the cry, the FEAR needed for it. But they’ll need to give it their all to send the humans into the battle frenzy needed.

gaia_crown [ Stage 1:] Mastering the Battle Cry.
The battle cry is simple enough, but it must be just right to not only get the most humans, but as many times as possible in as many places. Your task will be to roll to determine how many times you can give it your all. All war horsemen are okay and can make three SHOUTS. AKA all battle cries start with a base of 3.

Rolling 2 d4, you need the dice to match in order have gained skill in the battle cry. You may roll 4 times. For each matching dice you have, (IE: 1, 1) You add 1 Shout to your battle cry. AKA, +1 to your battle cry. The most a horseman can shout is 5 times. This is used in stage 3.

gaia_crown [ Stage 2: Slaying the Human. ]
An optional stage. Once you master your battle cry, you may KILL one human. It can be done however you like, with your battle cry being accelerated due to your personal influence, or by your weapon, or maybe your mount just tramples them to death. But the heirs are allowing the killing of one for a good brewing. Who knows, maybe killing the one might help FEAR harvesting later on? If you kill using the Battle Cry the possible effects are:

1- The one who hears your battle cry in fine until they see a flower. Any kind, in any form- images of plants going wild plague them, other humans turning into deadly vine creatures with thorns for teeth, vines wrapping around necks to choke- The humans feel the need to chop up their hallucinations.
2- The human is fine… up until they hear an animal. The animal’s cry is amplified as the people around them begin to shift form… becoming grotesque half human half animals. Shooting them and putting the down is the only way the human can save themselves.
3- The human seems alright until they hear their name. The speaker becomes a writhing mass of dead bodies, at the center of it all, is a mirror image of the human affected. The enemy can’t be killed quickly, it must be captured… then pulled apart. Once done… they are free until they hear their name again.
4- The human is normal before they hear laughter. It’s painful, mocking. In fact, the whole world seems to be mocking them, cruel and heartless, they will take revenge by cutting out tongues and ripping out eyes.
5- The sound of fear, a scream. It echoes endlessly, only leaving them when they attack the mouth less, eyeless shapes around them. Oddly, the screams sounds a bit like their own…
6- It is not a sound that causes this human to begin their decent into bloodlust and madness. But a kiss. Any kiss will do. But the kiss was that of death. Consumed with hate, the kill who kissed them and all they can see are the bodies of the walking dead, ready to kiss them, to devour their very soul.

A quick note: War is causing ‘fake triggers’ that make humans see violent hallucinations which they then feel a need to attack. They truly believe what they are seeing is real and all logic has left them.

If a person resists or simply goes mad? Due to your acceleration of the battle cry, a few short hours later…
They go berserk. Killing anything and everything that resembles a human. Oddly, if a human shaped object is attacked and doesn’t bleed after they attempt to gut it? They will realize it’s fake and move on.

ONE HUMAN KILLING PER PERSON. Remember, at this stage, your goal is CONFLICT, not full out death. Think of these killings as a taste of the fear your battle cry will bring. The effects begin slowly and build over the course of hours.

gaia_crown [ Stage 3 ] The Choir
Going to the location you have chosen, you pour your fear into your voice, letting out the most ferocious war cry as perfect a pitch and tone as you can. Infused with your fear it caries, and all who hear it slowly fall into the madness of their bloodlusts. If someone is attacked and survives? FEAR latches onto FEAR, they too will join in the war frenzy.

Rolling 1 d100, see how well the humans in the area react to your battle cry. Each roll consumes a SHOUT.

1: Perfect Acoustics! You manage to find a natural amphitheatre for your voice, the sudden yell having human suddenly one edge as a sudden chill runs down their spines. In fact, in the distance you can already spy one human falling victim to their inner demons. +3 FEAR
2-10: Whoops! You attempt to get in a good shout but a passing horseman bumps you in their excitement, making you cough, losing your voice. Looks like you might need to kick someone’s a** later. +0 FEAR
11-30: You let lose near what looks like an official government building. Inside you hear a scream of terror- That was rather quick. +2 FEAR
31-50: Crammed together, humans in mass transit, you shout and a few tremble, but no one succumbs then and there. Pity. +1 FEAR
51-70: A building full of people come to watch a game of sorts. One team is no better than the other. The sport? Doesn’t matter. Not enough gore. Your battle cry quickly fixes that problem however. +2 FEAR
71-90: Humans standing in lines. Lines. And more Lines. For what you’re not sure. But- they are already agitated. A shout make them flinch, but they are stubborn. They’ll fall eventually. +1 FEAR
91-99: Whoops! You attempt to get in a good shout but a passing horseman bumps you in their excitement, making you cough, losing your voice. Looks like you might need to kick someone’s a** later. +0 FEAR
100: Perfect Acoustics! You manage to find a natural amphitheatre for your voice, the sudden yell having human suddenly one edge as a sudden chill runs down their spines. In fact, in the distance you can already spy one human falling victim to their inner demons. +3 FEAR

gaia_crown [ Collection: ] Once you have used up your virus, post the FEAR TOTAL at the bottom of your post in BOLD, RED, SIZE 16 FONT. If your FEAR total is 0, you may try again. Granted, the horsemen in question might get a certain look of shame….

How is Fear Gathered- their FRAGMENT naturally absorbs the fear they generate. When done, Horsemen are expected to return to the lair and pool the FEAR HERE

Jay was ready to create mayhem, war. Collecting fear for the orb was only a pleasant side effect of her desire for violence and bloodshed. She could have easily fled to the human world on her own, but there was always safety in numbers and joy from working in groups. The bluejay, with great reluctance, sat down to ponder which horsemen to gather for her trip. Jay approached Ying first, then Senga. Both encounters were met with a pleasant smile and for Senga, a noticeably subdued bluejay. Perhaps the jabberjay had disappeared at last, but as soon as she spotted a familiar tall conquest member, she shrieked and climbed onto Zhi’s back. “Zhizhi! We’re going to Japan to collect fear! Youwannago?Pleasetellmeyouwannagotoopleasepleaseplease.”

There wasn’t much choice for the conquest horseman anyways before all four found themselves in the hustle and bustle of a city. Brightly-lit characters decorated the large signs and pedestrians strolled up and down the crowded streets of Japan. The warrior grinned, spun around, and stared at the two conquest members. “Do you know the battle cry~?” she asked in a sing-song. She grinned, her wings rustling as she turned around and cupped her hands around her mouth. She shouted.

Senga hadn't been entirely sure he was interested in bonding time with the group of Zhi/Jay, considering the last time they'd conspired together and he'd been unfortunate enough to have been in the same space, they'd kidnapped him. However, he was willing to let them drag him off to gods only knew where for the sake of being a good not-friend. His expression hadn't changed since they'd arrived; his brows were still knit together in a perpetual half-frown, making him look especially ruffled. Like an untamable puppy, or a drowned cat.

The hustle of the city did little to take his expression or his nerves. But thankfully, barring Ying, he imagined that Jay and Zhi knew by now that his frown seemed perpetual. Sighing as Jay turned around and shouted, Senga folded his wings and crossed his arms. He had never been much for battle cries. They seemed rather useless unless one was trying to intimidate a deer. Or a squirrel. "I doubt they do." He rumbled. "Though you might be able to knock it into Zhi's skull with a hammer and a few nails." The mild-mannered tease was administered with a light tug at the Conquest horseman's sleeves. He turned back to Jay as she shouted, and sighing, completely against his own interests, followed suit like a howling wolf.

Battle Cry: 3 + 1

Ying was rather indifferent about the city. She would have preferred the peaceful ponds of Conquest, but then, that wasn't an option anymore. Instead, she found herself looking around in wonder at the large buildings and crazy outfits. The humans had very strange fashion choices indeed. She had to take note to NEVER come up with something like this, for the human were hideous dressers, and she couldn't bear to put a horseman in something so ugly.

While Zhi and Jay did their ... thing, Ying just sort of looked on with disdain. She would have a word with Zhi about his behavior later- after all, Jay was a War horseman. They were supposed to be childish and disgusting and gross, but a Conquestian- oh no. They were supposed to be dignified and honorable. So she would discuss his behavior later, yes.

For now, she tugged on Senga's coat and said, "I ... I have prepared an honorable cry, but I do not think it is battle worthy. Could you maybe ... show me how it is done?" KOUHAI YING WAS WAITING, SENGA-SENPAI.

Zhi had barely even had any time to process Jay's request when she jumped on his back, flailing his arms like a monkey as he tried to keep his balance. Without even fully wrapping his head around what it was his friend was asking him to do, the Conquest horseman automatically grinned and said okay.

It was probably for that reason that he looked very, very confused as he examined their new surroundings. Where were they? Why were they here? What was going on? ...What exactly did he agree to, and what battle cry? He stared at the other horsemen blankly, his usual, dumb-looking smile gracing his face. Senga's light teasing received a puzzled grin and headtilt, only for the expression to completely wipe itself off of his face when the two war horsemen suddenly began to shout--or in Senga's case, howl.

...What was going on. Zhi shot a very, very concerned look at Ying before he realized that this must have been the battle cry they had been talking about. Ooh, ooh, well then! In that case...

Taking a deep breath, he lifted his arms, flapping his sleeves around wildly as he let out the loudest yell that he could manage. His cry came out sounding more like an overly excited "YAAAAY", but to be fair, it was pretty loud. Then, just as suddenly as he had started yelling, he suddenly stopped, his arms dropping heavily to his sides. Grinning stupidly, he glanced at each of the others in turn before chirping a cheerful, "How was that?"

Casually perched once more on Zhi’s shoulders, she wrapped her arms around the soldier’s head while throwing the wolf horseman a grin. Her muscles tensed as if the bird was ready to leap and pounce her prey, but she remained firmly rooted in place. “You never know~” Jay hummed. She stopped suddenly when her fellow war member turned and howled. Eyes closed slowly and she let her shoulders fall. It had been a while since she had been with Senga, so even his peculiar howling was welcomed. “Ah.” As Zhi flailed his arms, Jay clung tighter to him in order to stay atop of his shoulders. Once he finished his shouting, Jay leaned forward and gave him an upside-down smile. “Great!” She gave him a thumbs up before finally hopping off and strolling down the streets.

“Now it’s time for the fun part~” She smiled pleasantly, gestured for the others to go wherever they pleased. Bright wings brushed against the buildings as the warrior stuck to the shadows and searched for a suitable prey. The bird whistled idly before she picked out a short, slender girl snaking through the crowd with a decorated phone in her manicured hands. The horsewoman stepped into the light and strolled along the human. She grinned until bubbly giggling burst out from inside her chest. The girl curiously glanced to the side, but nothing more. Jay kept tailing the girl until she visited a cram school. Feathers rustled when Jay walked down the aisle toward the back and watched keenly. Everything appeared normal until the girl was called upon and gave out the wrong answer. For the most part, the classroom remained silent, but someone laughed. Jay grinned and let out another round of soft laughter.

The girl remained standing, her hands balled into fists as she frantically looked around the classroom. The instructor stepped forward, asked her to take a seat, but she stubbornly stood. “Don’t laugh at me!” she frowned. Hushed murmurs arose, making her cover her ears and shake her head. “I mean it. Stop it. Stop it!” The girl’s pleas escalated into panicked shouts where she kicked around her desks and reached for her fellow classmates. She screamed and screamed. “Stop it! Stop laughing!” She tackled another girl and wrapped her hands around the other’s thin neck. Her nails dug into the skin while she shook her classmate so that her skull banged against the desk.

The shrieks of the other occupants easily overpowered the shouts of the original girl, but the yells jumped ever higher once she raised a hand and clawed at the classmate’s face. Jay cackled as the victim released a high-pitched wail and a pair of spheres rolled across the floor. It was innocent at first, but that was until everyone realized the spheres were white and had the same pale brown eyes of the classmate, who had red streaks trailing down her cheeks like bloody tears.

Manicured nails were so good for digging out eyes, after all.

The teacher pulled back the afflicted girl, but she only spun around and went for the man instead. “Stop it! Stoooop!” Bloodied hands took out the eyes quicker this time and she even grabbed at his tongue. Once she realized the futility, she let out a savage growl before rushing toward the others. “Shut up, stop laughing!

Jay leaned forward, hands on her stomach as she fell into peals of manic laughter.

This was the fun part, She'd said, but it wasn't fun at all.

It was exhilarating. A painful needle of adrenaline straight to his skull as he took flight and disappeared from the rest of the group in a flurry, a shuffle, a quick sharp snap of sound and motion. Although good in group combat, Senga preferred to taste the spoils of War alone. And the spoils of War to him... well, they were not all material things. The young executioner threw back his hood as the sticky, heavy musk of evening settled on the foreign human city. Lights gleamed in and out of darkness, and the scent of sweat and exertion, mortality, struck him hard with desire like a sore ache in his throat. His wings fluttered briefly in the wind, tawny feathers invisible to all those that passed him by.

When he finally found a perch and a perfect spot, he landed on the balls of his bare feet, scarred skin flashing like a pale ghost in the dark. A large crowd sifted through the square, their hands a busy blur of motion over modern human technology that made Senga feel sick. His lips curled back, a soft, inhuman growl touching the tip of his tongue. The scent of sweat and heat nearly drove him mad; how long had it been since he'd been out in the field last? His lips curved backwards to reveal fangs. Too long.

A sleek, dark shape rose out of the shadows and leapt onto one of the benches in front of him, and Senga's eyes half-lidded to the creature as it turned and yawned at him.

Here in a city like this, it would have to do.

The sound of rushing footsteps clicked madly through the small square, and a thin man in a dark navy blazer emerged from the crowd. "Come on, darling. Let me see you howl." Senga murmured, settling on the brick wall and swinging his legs in an almost absent minded motion. His eyes like a wolf's own flickered with heat and hunger as the man whirled and whirled, nervous anxiety coating him in a clammy sheen of sweat. "Facilis descensus Averni."

The descent into Hell is easy.

The cat stretched lethargically in front of Senga, turning its haughty gaze at the young man. Its mouth opened into a soft meow. Anticlimactic, but then, he wasn't hear for the theatrics or the opening number. He was here for something else.

The man reeled, his eyes widening a fraction. And Senga could smell it on him. Fear. Desperation. Sweat.

To him, the entire square was turning before his eyes. Humans were buckling over, their bones snapping like sick crackling fireworks. Mouths elongated, blood like rivers and waterfalls hit the floor. The stench of rot and death permeated the air like a heady, humid cloud. Where human eyes once were now black holes lay, maggots and worms crawling and biting and hacking away just beneath the surface of skin.

And they advanced.

The man screamed. A piercing sound that drove Senga's hunger hard into his stomach, making him reel. He wanted to taste it, taste the mans mortality in his hands, his fear. But that wasn't his role. The mob of half-humans seemed to advance. Surging, expanding, mutating. The man screamed again and again until his voice broke into rasps. Maybe he was speaking, maybe he wasn't. Maybe he was babbling. Most certainly he was going insane. He lunged at the closest person to him, wrestling him to the ground. It was a sick crack and split of hair and flesh and bone against the pavement, soaking it red as he drove the humans head down into the pavement.

There was a flurry of movement to Senga's left. Two others tried to pry the man away, but he turned to them too, screaming and howling and tearing with his hands until the nails broke and his victims were ribboned with angry welts and bloody marks.

Senga watched the chaos with single-minded fascination. One after another went down. Fear, after all, was a power that sent men to do great and terrible things. Somewhere he got a knife. Somewhere he strangled a woman with the straps of her own purse. And he bled, and bled, and bled. A broken nose, a dislocated shoulder. The pain seemed to merely fuel him more and more. The massacre in motion, Senga rolled his shoulders back and stood up, thanking the cat for its help.

The show was still going, but the climax had passed and Senga had seen all of this before. His lips curled and he stretched his wings, leaping back into the night sky, leaving hell behind him with only an insatiable hunger belly-deep within him in return.

How disappointing.

Fun? Ying wasn't so sure about fun. The killing part, yes. Ying lived for that experience. Watching your fodder fall before you, feeding into the dish of FEAR that sustained them all. The actual battle cry part though? Hard. Inexplicably difficult. She was a quiet sort of horsemen, one who chose to contain herself and keep to her sewing. Screaming and yelling wasn't particularly her strong suit.

But! She had other horsemen to impress, so she promised to do her best. While the others went to a classroom, the city, Ying found herself in the gardens. It was a peaceful part of the city, one that people sought for tranquility and peace in their hectic urban lives.

Ying ascertained to see that changed.

She crept behind plants, filling them with her FEAR, spreading the seeds of doubt. One man who saw a flower started shouting, another cried out in terror. An old couple visiting the park- the woman fell. They would later call it a heart attack, but it had been anxiety that filled her core, not some physical malformation.

The crux of Ying's duty was when a single woman began screaming at the plants, clawing down a set of roses and then moving to attack other people visiting. She screamed about the plants, screamed at the people- screamed at everything it seemed. It was a sincere 15 minutes before any sort of police showed up, and by the time they had the woman sedated, it was too late. A man had been killed, and the legend was set.

The garden would soon become something of an urban legend. Tales of a woman driven mad by the pollen haunted the area, kids whispered on doorsteps about the "plant lady." Mothers warned their young ones never to visit the area, lest they suffer the same fate.

Ying rejoined her companions in the main part of the city, quiet smile on her face. Though it seemed quite innocent, it had a quiet malice to it. A turbidity.

Satisfied evil.

Zhi grinned up at Jay, responding to her thumbs up with one of his own. He had done well, right? Right? For a moment, he just stood there and basked in his pride...and then it hit him that while the shouting had been amusing, the fun was just getting started. His dark eyes flashed with glee as Jay gave the order for them to split up, the four of them wandering off in different directions as they each had individual goals and ideas in mind.

It didn't take long before Zhi found himself hiding in the alleyway of a busy street. As he stepped out into the street, careful to stick to the shadows, he was momentarily mesmerized by all the eye-catching lights that flashed in storefronts. The whole road was lined by a variety of different stores, and while the man itched to wander around and investigate all these strange human things, he knew that he had a job to do.

...That, and he stuck out like a sore thumb.

It didn't take long for him to pick someone. A young man was standing on the street corner, leaning on the exterior of a building as his thumb glided over the screen of his cellphone. He was texting someone, clearly, glancing up every so often to look around as if he were expecting someone. A friend...a girlfriend? It didn't matter. Zhi's lips suddenly spread into a wide, vicious grin as he slid closer to the human boy, steepling his fingers like some stupid movie mastermind. Soon. Soon the fun would start. All it would take for the human to snap was the trigger, and then--

A high, feminine voice suddenly called out a name, and the girl who the voice belonged to came jogging up, smiling as she apologized for being late. The boy's own lips began to curl into a smile as he looked up...but then he froze. At once, the pleasant expression of his face disappeared, his mouth dropping open as his eyes suddenly bugged out in terror. To the confusion of his girlfriend, he abruptly let out a terrified yell, staggering backwards.

Some people had stopped to stare, but to them, nothing looked particularly out of place. In their eyes, they simply saw two people--a confused-looking girl and a terrified-looking boy. In the latter's eyes, however, he saw something that was clearly not human. No, what he saw was a number of dead bodies tangled together like some kind of especially demented rat king, moaning and writhing around a figure that looked suspiciously like his own. He could smell the scent of blood and rot, see the soulless eyes of his mirror image in the center of the abomination, and he could feel the creature squirm and lash out as he launched himself at it, digging his nails into the dead flesh as he instinctively tried to tear the bodies off of himself.

And then the street broke out into chaos. Zhi cackled as he watched the human boy jump at the girl, one of his hands curling tightly around her neck and pinning her down while he sunk his other fingers into the spot where her arm met her shoulder, viciously pulling and digging as he tried to tear the limb off. There was a lot of screaming and yelling as bystanders rushed forward in an attempt to pull him off, but despite his moderate size, the boy managed to shake them all off, his eyes wild. It was amazing what fear could do to a person. It took a good four people or so before they could finally wrench him off and pin him to the ground, but by that point, the damage had already been done.

Clasping his hands behind his back, Zhi whistled innocently as he turned around and trotted back to meet up with the others.

The others would find Jay back at their original spot and humming cheerfully. She moved her head to the beat of a song blaring on one of the television screens displayed in a shopping window. Sea-green eyes curiously stared at the images flashing across the screen before she noted, “Humans are weird.” Jay whirled around, a few of her feathers coming loose and fluttering to the ground. “Anyways, it’s time to start.”

The horseman flew off and found herself in a spacious building, enough for her to casually fly circles in, but she chose to stand at the very bottom of the stands. She crossed her arms and watched the humans kick a ball back and forth. Jay cupped her hands over her mouth and screamed.

It was the catalyst to an argument, and that argument was the catalyst for a fight, a fight that permeated across the field until it infected the audience as well. Food was thrown everywhere and pained cries rang throughout. She smiled.

Senga dropped onto the top of a large building overlooking a field of some sort. Below, groups and clusters of people moved in erratic formations, attempting to kick a ball back and forth. It was a game, he understood that much, but of what kind didn't matter to him. It wasn't at all fascinating; after all, humans played mundane sports that hardly rivaled those of the horsemen, where speed and agility were just as important as keeping ones self alive. His eyes rifted back and forth for a few long moments, following the haze and patterns and dizzying ways in which the teams went, like a chaotic dance that made little sense. It was tiring to watch, and soon enough Senga lost interest. What point was there in a game for humans after all, where such little blood was being shed?

Sucking in a breath, Senga let out a sharp cry that burnt its memory into the ears of the players quickly enough. He could feel the palpable formation of Fear taint the air just as quickly, as slowly, the chaotic dance turned into a frenzy, and what was once a good game quickly became a sport filled with blood. After all, in this pitiful human world, what was there to do but harvest Fear and create chaos, and show humans what their true purpose really was?

Senga gave his wings a short flap and lifted himself back to his full height, a simple sigh falling from his lips.

One down. Many more to go.

Ying nodded at the others and then departed to explore the rest of Japan, curious of the havoc she could wreak. It seemed a very bustling place, people moving quickly and scurrying to their little holes. For Ying it was very much a game, like a morbid version of whack-a-mole.

She picked a rather crowded train, one headed in the direction of the gardens she'd infected earlier. It seemed like a good idea to drum up FEAR for her area in a rather crowded space.

The problem with crowded spaces was that they were noisy. Her cry barely reached 3 feet in front of her before being drowned out by the useless talk humans entertained themselves with. Disappointing.

Woohoo, adventure time! Zhi was more than happy to wander off and continue his exploration, sticking to the shadows and he gleefully peeked out to watch the humans that walked past. What strange creatures they were! They always did the most unusual things for reasons that he could not understand, and--ah. Ah wait, was that a line up over there?

Curious, he crept up closer, lips splitting into a wide grin as he neared the store where a number of people stood in single file. Whatever were they lining up for? He squinted at the cardboard cutout that stood in front of the door to the building, determining that it was...some kind of...girl in a puffy pink dress, with a strange white creature perched on her shoulder.

...Something about the creature kind of unnerved him.

He was quick to shake the feeling away, frowning as he continued to eye the store. Well, he had no idea what these people were buying, but just look at this setup! It was perfect! The humans were already rather agitated, grumbling and pushing among themselves as they impatiently waited for the line to move. All it would take would be a little push, and then...

Zhi cupped his hands around his mouth and let out a quick shout before ducking out of sight, an eager grin on his face. He waited for chaos to break out, but with the exception of some louder grumbles, he didn't hear any change. A peek at the group determined that they were only mildly more irritated than they had been a moment ago.

Damnit. Well, that was a failure.

Jay couldn’t fully grasp the concept of standing in line. She noticed a line of humans that occasionally shuffled forward while she flew through the crowded, bright streets. Curious, she swooped lower before she tucked in her wings and gracefully walked across the ground toward the line. Bright green eyes took in the slight irritation in their expressions. Why did they wait like this? It was so idle, so boring. There was no excitement in patiently waiting for one’s reward. Someone should’ve cut in line, maybe even begin a riot. Even leaving to pursue something more interesting would’ve satisfied her, but no.

Yet, they looked so irritated…She cupped her hands over her mouth and gave out a tentative whoop. Large crowds of humans were a gamble, and when Senga shouted from high above, he saw some of them grow fidgety and agitated, but only a few succumbed. His eyes narrowed and his wings ruffled in mild irritation. Well that was a plan that didn't go through the way he'd wanted it to.
